edit Drive context menu for reflect macrium program

Q: edit Drive context menu for reflect macrium program

Soon after i install ReflectMacrium, context menu added itself is normal for almost every program. now this context menu thing is useful, (removing it is easy) but makes it looks messy and i would like to change it. Default program editor and Glary utilities cant change this because ReflectMacrium has it's context menu info within it's dll file, called RShellext.dll, means i must use resource hacker program to edit it.

all other times when i do this, resource hacker worked and info is always there to edit but this time i can't find the "create a macrium image for this partition" inside the .dll file so i looked further with notepad++ and it is indeed within RShellext.dll, just that in resource hacker it shows a bunch of hex and i do not know what or how to edit it. i could try hex, but no experience on it whatsoever.

is there anyway for me to edit this? either with resource hacking tools (with hex) or another method to do this. i could remove the context menu by deleting the dll file but i would really love to have the function, just a shorter name.

i have attached few picture to make it clear of what i need to change, thank you.

Preferred Solution: edit Drive context menu for reflect macrium program

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: edit Drive context menu for reflect macrium program

edit: i was able to adjust it with hex editor.. well thats because inside hex editor theres text showing and i simply type over it to save it. but similar problem still remains as i installed hex neo editor, as well as resource hacker both added their own context menu >.<

just like reflect macrium, in resource hacker the neo hex editor showing only hex codes in it's dll file but i tried opening the dll file with its own editor in there couldnt find the thing with context menu >.<. i'll just live with it for now..

This is the Context Menu that I'm referring to, accessed by Start>Pictures>[Open a Folder to display thumbnails], Right-click on Thumbnail.

With my current settings [where?], if I select and click on Edit, MS Windows Paint opens as the Default Editing Program.

I don't like Paint at all, and want to change from that current Default Program, to allow my Pictures to be opened and edited by Picasa. Is there a method by which I can change that Context Menu, so that by clicking on Edit, the selected thumbnail automatically opens in Picasa?

And before anyone leaps in and suggests any other editing program from the plethora of others available [eg. Photoshop etc.], please don't waste your time - I'm not interested in them, as Picasa fulfills all of my basic photo editing requirements.

Basically, I'm looking for a shortcut to open Picasa with just one click, as I'm aware that I can also get there through Open with, in the same Context Menu.

A:Can I change the Default Edit Program in Pictures Context Menu?

Hello Tony,

You can use "Open With" with the Always use the selected program to open this kind of program box checked to make Picasa the default program for that type of file extension. Afterwards, it should open Picasa when you use Edit for that file extension next.

Hi, recently started using Reflect, moving away from TrueImage. I'm pretty happy with it so far, except for the outlandish price (yea, I know, free version fine for most but I like to password protect my images).

I notice there's an option to put the recovery on the boot menu, reminiscent of Norton Ghost. Anyone using this option who can speak for its stability in Windows 10?

Thanks!

A:Macrium Reflect boot menu option

Hey wreckwriter,

I actually did the same as far as moving away from TrueImage to Reflect, but I am using the free version.

I'm curious to see the responses, as I was wondering the same. I'm also wondering about the purpose of doing that vs. creating a bootable Flash / CD. Is it just a matter of convenience, or does it offer something else that I'm missing?

Also, I'm wondering if there's any risk of configuring Reflect so that it's added to the boot menu? Since it really does not load before Windows per se, I'm assuming the risks are minimal, but that is a concern of mine as well.

About a year ago, I added a Macrium Reflect boot menu option but have never needed to use it. There have been several Reflect updates since then. Do I need to do anything to update this boot menu option? Also, how do you remove the boot menu option?

A:Update Macrium Reflect Boot Menu Option?

You should always create a new rescue media when you have updated Macrium. In doing so also the WinPE files for Macrium Rescue will be updated (files in %programdata%\Macrium folder). In this case the boot menu entry does not need to be edited when Macrium is updated.

The easiest way to remove all entries, including Macrium, from boot menu is to boot the PC to Macrium Recovery Console and select Fix Windows boot problems:

Accept all prompts:

Boot menu is gone and PC boots now directly to Windows.

You can manually edit the boot menu in an Elevated Command Prompt with command bcdedit. Here some commands to modify boot menu:
bcdedit
list all boot entriesbcdedit /delete {Boot Entry Identifier}
Removes the selected entry from Boot Menubcdedit /set {Boot Entry Identifier} description "Any Name"
Sets the name of selected entry in Boot Menu to your chosen one, instead of for instance having two entries named Windows 10, you can name them as Windows 10 Pro on HDD and Windows 10 Home on VHDNew name (description) needs to be in quotes if it contains spacesbcdedit /default {Boot Entry Identifier}
Sets the selected entry as default OS which will be automatically started when countdown reaches 0

An example. Here I wanted to change the name of the Macrium Reflect System Recovery entry in my boot menu to simple and short Macrium (highlighted blue). For that I need to use it's identifier (highlighted yellow):

A Q or more for anyone familiar with MR.

I'm dual-booting W7 & 10 (both Pro x64) on separate SSDs.
Reflect Free v6.1 (same build) is installed on each OS (my first experience with Macrium software).
If I select W7 as the default OS, I get the legacy boot loader (Windows Boot Manager).
If I select W10 as default, it's the graphical Boot Options Menu.
This is not an issue for me, as I'll be changing the default OS for periods in the future, and so will be using the associated boot loading mode during those periods.

I've created a USB Rescue medium (in W7 using WinPE 5).
As yet, I haven't created a Recovery Boot Menu entry in either OS.

My intention is to create a Recovery Boot Menu option in both the legacy W7 Manager and the ('standard') W10 Boot Options Menu, so that it will be available whichever menu is displayed at the time, and I'm assuming I'll be doing this in each OS when set as default.

If that's a reasonable plan(?), should the W7 entry use WinPE 5 and the W10 entry WinPE 10?

As the PE options show as 'not built' in MR on W10, do I need to create a USB Rescue utility in W10 before creating the Boot Menu entry, or will the PE environment be built 'on demand' for the menu entry only?

I'm not enthralled by the prospect of dealing with potential booting/menu issues, so thanks in advance for appeasing my OCD/paranoid tendencies.

Ok, I installed the new version of Reflect. One feature I like is that it can create a boot recovery menu.
I did this and in fact I tested it. It made me reboot and upon reboot it gave me the choice of booting from W7 or from Reflect (Windows PE 3.0).

I would like it to only give me that option when I want to restore an image. But I get the boot option every time I boot up. It's not a big deal as it boots into Windows7 after about 4 seconds (unless, of course, I choose the Reflect boot).

I don't think I like that. How can I eliminate it?

Mel

A:Macrium Reflect Free--new Edition (6.) issue on boot menu

As far as I know, you can't eliminate it. Besides, if you could eliminate it, the only way you would be able to use it is if you are already booted into Win 7 and can get into Macrium Reflect. If you run into a problem that keeps you from rebooting into Win 7, you would be out of luck unless you had a rescue disk or USB stick (btw, it's a good idea to have one handy anyway in case the drive Win 7 is on gets so messed up, nothing will work). Frankly, four seconds isn't very long even though it may seem like an eternity when sitting there staring at the screen but then again, if you are staring at the screen while rebooting, you can just hit the enter key as soon as it pops up.

If it's really all that bothersome, you could just disable it entirely and depend on rescue media to do a restoration (although it probably would be slower, especially if using a CD or USB 2.0 stick).

Btw, Win PE 5.0 might be a bit faster in use than 3.0. It's Win 8 based but will work fine on Win 7 machines.

Date 30th July 2010, This update is 7.6mb through the program updater
Release notes below;

Quote:
What's new? v4.2.2866:

New Command line image mounting options.
You can now mount and unmount image and backup files from the command line. Please type 'reflect.exe -h' from a command line for more information on this functionality.

Unrestricted mounted image browsing
Previously, if an image that was created on a different PC was browsed then 'private' folders couldn't be accessed. This is because NTFS security prevents, even Administrators, from accessing these folders and files. The 'Browse Image' dialog now allows this by enabling the new option 'Enable access to restricted folders' .

Windows PE rescue CD update is available.
Please click the 'Updates' button in the Rescue CD burn wizard for more information.
Bug fixes:

Apple Mac hybrid disks
Macrium Reflect now correctly identifies and allows imaging of Apple Mac 'hybrid' disks. These were incorrectly displayed as GPT disks after the last update.

DOS batch file fix
Fixed bug in DOS bat file generation. Previously the generated bat file would not run because it was generated as a Unicode, not ANSI, file.

Case sensitive file name extensions
The '.mrimg' and 'mrbak' file name extensions were case sensitive when mounting the file. This meant that changing the file name of the generated file to be upper-case could result in the file failing to mount. This has been resolved.

Hi, I wanna edit my context menu (right click). I wanna do this kind of things:

-Add a "create new folder" or "create new text document" below the "New" option, so I don't have to do "New/wait it load/select option"

-Delete some Winrar options, such as "compress and email..." and many other options of other programs from the "root" contextual menu.

-Add options directly to the "root" contextual menu, like "Add to VLC's playlist" or "Play with VLC". Right now I have an option that says "VLC" in the "root" contextual menu, and it has another menu in there, that have many options, as those 2 I just mentioned.

-Edit the "Open with..." option, so I can add the programs I want. Right now, I have to go to "Choose default program...", then UNMARK the "open default with this program" cause I don't wanna use it always. Then go "more options", then again "look another app", and finally search for an exe.

-Right click to an archive and, below "copy", I'd like to add a "copy file name" option.

You know, a lot of stuff to do, xD. Thanks!

I'm running Windows 8.1 x64, by the way.

Yes you should be able to use your Image of your C-Drive on to your new SSD, BUT....you also said that 1 partition is NOT on your image made by Macrium Reflect? This seems strange to me, because unless you un-checked that missing partition MR ALWAYS copies ALL of your partitions when you do a Complete system image.

Been able to zap some items from the New context menu, but a few still remain. I've read the tutorials here, searched the registry, I've got ShellExView, ShellMenuView and Glary Pro. They've helped, but not the 7 things below the red bar here, which is what I want to eliminate:

I don't see the above Office options listed in ShellExView. In ShellMenuView, I've got 34 options for Word, 50-60 for Photoshop - can't discern anything in those programs that deals with the New context menu. Flash ActionScript is listed nowhere. When I've looked in the registry (via the tutorial instructions) I can't find those 7 items, either. WinRar lets you customize the shell menu, but that doesn't affect the New menu. Totally baffled, any ideas?

A:Can't fully edit context menu

Hi Colonel Travis,

Have a look at the following application, ShellMenuNew.

It is very easy to use portable utility to trim down the list of items under the ?new? explorer menu. You can disable or remove any existing item or enable it with a click of a button.

You don't need to install it and can simply run the .exe file.

I think this may be what you are looking for.

My objective: multiple backups of my "C" drive. And I would like the "other" drive to be bootable (I can easily switch boot drives in my BIOS) -- which means it can't be in the compressed format and has to have a correctly populated boot sector.

I've just loaded the free trial of Macrium Reflect. Here's my disk line up:
C: System/Program
D: Backup of C
E: Data
F: Backup of E
G: Spare hard disk
I first made an image copy of C: and loaded it on D: ... noticed that there was (I hope) considerable compression in the image backup process. I then downloaded "Linux Rescue Wizzard" and found that I could not restore my backup on anything but "C:" ... I really wanted to restore it to G. So I next downloaded "Windows PE" for a more advanced rescue process; alas, met the same situation: I could not restore the "D" backup to "G".

Other than using something like xcopy or robocopy to just copy the backup to "G", is there a way in Macrium Reflect to do this? Of course, I have the 30-day trial free version, but would not be upset if I had to buy the paid version.

I've not done it myself but I think you will need the WinPE version of the recovery disk. There is a pre-built ISO provided by whs here. FileSwap.com : Macrium 5.0 WinPE.zip download free. You will just need to burn it to CD.

A:How to edit the context menu items for shortcuts?

That is perfectly normal. Here is what I get with a test file and a shortcut to the same:

As you can see, right-clicking on the shortcut icon gives me 2 instances of Edit with Notepad++ in the context menu. The first of these (the upper one) is the same as the one I got when right-clicking the file itself (see above).

There is a difference between the two. The upper one pertains to the file itself (LH image below), whereas the lower one relates to the shortcut (RH image below).

I don't know a method of removing the second instance whilst still keeping the first. Sorry.

Hi.
First of all, you'd want to make an image, not a clone.
Can I use Macrium Reflect to move my installed software to a new machine - KnowledgeBase - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase
Second, you'd be performing a ReDeploy to the target system.
_ReDeploy - KnowledgeBase - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase
Third, unless you have another W10 key to activate the target system, your OS will become "UN-activated" once moved.
Last, I don't think (I could be wrong) the ReDeploy option is available in the free version, so you'd need to purchase the Macrium program to do this.

I have managed to swap around the items on different hard drives and now the MR is on an internal hard drive. This morning I tried to get the C drive recopied and all MR sees is the drive I put the MR on. It doesn't see any other drive. I don't want to re-write the whole C drive and start again that is the reason I have done the Mac ref. I can't afford broadband without limits and I know I don't have enough bandwidth to re-do windows. My C drive is 400gb and all it shows is 232gb's which as I said is the drive I have my MR onAny help urgently would be grateful.

Thanks for looking

I restored a file using Macrium Reflect successfully. Now, I have a Macrium Reflect Image "drive" allocated on my C drive. It is write protected. How can I get rid of this file that is no longer needed? I've tried using "Properties" to change it to a non-write protected file, but that did not work. This is becoming a very frustrating experience. Please help ...

Thanks

This morning I had a computer crash . Somehow it got stuck on an upgrade . I Booted into system restore and tried to restore to earlier date. Error message came up indicating I had drive issues so I continued with the offer to scan and repair the drive. After drive was "fixed" by windows , I could not proceed with the restore by clicking on next. Its like I am getting an loop of disc errors. I went back to the restore dialog and then chose a restore point .Computer started Restoration but then had an error that indicated it could not restore due to some problem with candy crush ! I then shut down the computer . Restarted it and went thru the HP Diagnostics and everything looked OK so HP diagnostics let me restore the computer ...but this time I had to enter my password to my msoft account and the restoration went smoothly.

My question is :

If I had failed to restore the computer via windows restore process due to disc errors , Could I use a very recent image of my disk made with Macrium Reflect v6 ? Would Macrium work despite windows detection of disk errors?

A:Macrium Reflect restore over corrupt drive?

Have you made the Macrium Reflect Rescue USB bootable stick?
Where are the image backups stored? Should be on a separate drive. Can't be on same drive as OS is installed.

Updated:
If the disk has errors than you will have to repair the disk before be able to use Macrium Reflect. Sorry.

I have been unable to locate any info in either MS Windows or Internet Explorer help sections on whether it's possible to edit the "context menu/pop-up menu" that occurs when you right-click the mouse secondary button while using IE6.

Some programs (i.e., Google search, Roboform, etc.) take the liberty to add selections onto the menu when they are installed, but this increases the size of the menu and adds unnecessary clutter which is annoying when using the menu.

Does anyone know how these unwanted menu items can be deleted or if the menu list order can be edited?

Ideally I'd like to clean it up to use functions I use more often, but at the least, I really want to get rid of the Bing search because I never use it, its use of "e" as the key to use to select it conflicts with another I do use frequently, and accidentally clicking it is very annoying.

Running 64 bit Windows 7 SP1 with all updates

I've been cleaning up my context menu and I have it right where I want it except for one item which I have been unable to find out how to delete regarding text (.txt) files.

I use UltraEdit as my text editor and have set it as the default program to use for text files. When I right click on a text file there are two selections displayed that will open the text document for editing - OPEN and EDIT. If I click on OPEN the default program (UltraEdit) indeed opens with the text file displayed and ready to edit as desired. However if I click on EDIT, Notepad opens with the file displayed and ready to edit. It's no big thing but this will gnaws at me until "I get it the way I want it" and I want the EDIT selection gone.

I can't figure out and haven't found it on the web how to keep EDIT from appearing on the contaxt menu nor can I determine how EDIT is being associated with Notepad. If it insists on being there why isn't it using UltraEdit like I specified...Windows appears to be obfuscating that information but there has to be a way to do this?

I'd appreciate a little help on this one...

I have been using PowerPoint since Office XP. It didn?t have and still doesn?t have an Edit entry on the context menu for .pps or ppsx files. This is very annoying when we want to edit one of those files as I often do. I made the necessary change in the registry, and the Edit shortcut showed up on the context menu for .pps files for XP and 2003, and then also for the ppsx files for and 2007. I exported and saved the modified registry settings to be able to just import them at any time I had to reinstall Office. It was simple, for each new Office version I only had to modify the path for PowerPoint and it worked.

Now, I have tried to do the same for 2010. It does have an Edit key under Shell, but the Edit shortcut doesn?t appear on the context menu. I don?t understand why it doesn?t work now. Am I making any mistake or is there another reason? Can someone, please, enlighten me on finding a way to do it?

I made a rescue CD iso with Macrium Reflect 5.
I used iso2usb to copy the iso to a flash drive
booting with the flash drive doesn't work

I tried all of this with a Linux option and a Windows PE option ( which asked for WAIK which Macrium installed) but all failed to boot.

Sorry to sound dense but want to do this right.

I use Windows 7 Pro with a WD 1 tb hard drive

I have Macrium Reflect Pro installed

I have created a recovery disk (need to test but expect it to allow me to boot from my optial drive D.)

I have attached an image of what I can select to be cloned; a system partition and a C: partition on my hard drive.

IF I elect to CLONE the two partitions that are shown as disk 1 to my new Sunsung 850pro SS drive, can I 'reasonably' expect', if no errors are introduced during the cloning process, that I can then replace my current C: hard drive with the new SS drive, reboot and use my computer as before? I shouldn't have to worry over setting the trim? or other tasks that make me nervous? :0(

The new drive doesn't appear here as I've not yet received it. If I understand, I will need to connect it to my computer as a new drive, have windows recognize it and then select it to use as the drive to clone to. Will Windows or Macrium Reflect offer to format it to NTFS prior to the cloning or should that be done ahead of time. I hope my cloning software will allow me to use verify on the cloned image or is that to be expected on this type of process?

I do own a retail copy of Windows 7 Pro plus retail copies of my software and can always install everything from scratch but would prefer to do this the quick and easy way, if possible.

My thanks for taking the time to read and advise proper steps. You guys make this forum a wonderful resource.

A:clone hdrive to SS drive - same size drv - using Macrium Reflect Pro ?

partitioning and formatting will be done automatically on clone.
Just do the clone but be sure to let the 100MB partition same size! And make it active. type=primary
The new C on SSD should use all the remaining blocks. type=primary

It just a copy of 2 partitions as explained here: Partition Alignment
Be sure to have alignment=win7.

All stuff I told you are in the dialog!
Don't attach old drive to system on first succesfull boot!
Startup Repair can be used to modify to bootmenu to reflect the changes.

I cannot seem to get Macrium Reflect Home Edition to verify an image. (See attached image)

On their forum I read that perhaps I needed to run

chkdsk /r /f

on the backup disk to which I am writing. The image appears to write but cannot be read, or perhaps I do not understand the error message in the attachment. I could not run chkdsk either:

F:\>chkdsk /r /f
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Chkdsk may run if this volume is dismounted first ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.
Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (Y/N)

I replied with NO.

I was asked if I wanted to run it on the next reboot. Concerned that chkdsk might run on another drive I replied NO and exited the command prompt.

I opened Process Explorer and searched for the drive, F: and there were no processes running. I even rebooted and opened the elevated command prompt as the only activity and had the same experience when trying to run chkdsk.

How do I run chkdsk on this disk? Should I force a dismount?

I realize this is a Windows Forum - but I have no where else to turn. I am using Macrium Reflect (Free Version) to clone my 1TB SSD primary drive which has three partitions. My issue is that, when I clone the primary drive, the clone shows less GB used than the original in each partition (I have three partitions). Also, when I substitute the clone for the primary drive, I get a message which says "File Attributes Table Missing" and I can't boot. Both my primary OS disk and the cloned disk are identical. Can anyone help me please? I am under the assumption that a clone will have the MBR on it.

A:Issue with Macrium Reflect and cloning a Windows OS drive

1) Why are you cloning all 3 partitions, just clone windows.
2) I would use an image, not a clone.
3) Running startup repair (with no other drives connected) should fix the no boot issue.

Is there a program to modify *all* context menu entries in Windows 8.1 x64?

I've downloaded a few apps but none of them offer the ability to remove context menu entries like "preview", "rotate left/right", "print", etc.

I've manually removed some context menu entries such as Skydrive, but the process is very slow via registry editor, and if i understand correctly it needs to be manually done for ALL file types, which means repeating steps for jpg, jpeg, bmp, png, gif, etc.

Here is an example of what i mean -- When i right click JPG i get this massive menu. I want to remove:

Preview, Set as desktop background, Print, Preview (why is it listed TWICE?), rotate right, rotate left, share with, send to.

Is there any easy way to do this for all file types?

Thanks.

For starters, the Macrium Reflect Pro cloned my drive flawlessly...couldn't be happier (and to a larger correct partition on my new SSD Samsung 830, 128GB drive). However, in some aspects, I can see in Win7 where the original Disk name 'CDM_Recovery' still pops up. I can't figure out a way through Device Manager or Manage my Computer to remedy this. I have a feeling that this is why my 'Samsung Magician' software never finds the drive. I've updated to the latest firmware for the drive and I'm using the latest 3.1 flavor of the Magician but it stubbornly refuses to acknowledge it's present (I think it's the naming and/or drivers currently loaded)...even though I've now located it as the primary drive in my laptop (original LITEON SSD which came with my Dell 6420 is now my external drive/clone copy). I also noticed that the drivers are all 'Intel' and of the 'generic' flavor for the drive; my concern is that I'm not getting full functionality with it set this way. I do see where the name is in the Registry, but it is held in many locations...don't want to screw that up...unless there is a excellent mapping strategy to accomplish it. There was one Windows support article that describes changing partition names, but it only shows altering one item in the Registry...doesn't seem near enough complete. Thoughts anyone? Do others have this issue when they clone? By the way, many thanks for the Macrium advise, great product and tutorial...!

A:Macrium Reflect SSD drive clone; disk naming convention/issue...

Correction to my last...the 7.9 Win7 performance rating was with the Samsung 830 SSD in the internal drive location, I have the original Dell 'Lite-On' SSD connected externally with eSATAp>SATA cable and use it for backup (I think it had a 7.2 Win7 performance rating when resident in the laptop)...nice improvement.

Inspiron 15, 7537 with recently installed SSD and clean Windows 10 Home + added programs, data, settings, etc.
A few days ago, I logged in as Administrator to change her profile name. Long story short, the OS got stuck and couldn’t get rid of one of the logons and I could only enter the OS as a temp and that work would be deleted after logout.
I tried two restore points. Both installed ok per OS but both had a non-operating ‘left click’ Start button.
I then went to boot from the Macrium Reflect rescue bootable USB flash drive to do an image restore.
The following are my failed attempts (I confirmed that the flash drive would boot Reflect on my laptop):
1. F12 on boot loads the following boot screen:
UEFI Boot: Secure Boot On:
Windows Boot Manager (thought I’d get a list but the machine booted as normal)
Onboard NIC – Ipv4
Onboard NIC – Ipv6
Other Options:
Setup
Diagnostics
Peripheral Device Setting (OPROM Setting)
Change boot mode setting (I selected this, then Legacy, then USB, but the result was ‘Operational system not found’

2. Set the BIOS option to UEFI, Secure Boot OFF, F12 to Boot Menu Options.
The F12 boot screen now showed Legacy as an optional category and did have the USB option, however, booting to same resulted in the same, previous ‘Operational system not found’. I hit Esc, got <<Start PxE over IPv4>> and then I shutdown and restarted into the OS with bad start button.

A:Inspiron 15, 7537 will not boot from Macrium Reflect Rescue USB Flash drive

You might want to post in the Macrium Reflect forum for more detailed help (I'm over there too!), but it seems your system isn't even detecting your Rescue Media flash drive.  If it were, you'd see a boot option for the USB drive at the one-time boot menu accessed by pressing F12.  Reflect Rescue Media can boot in either UEFI or Legacy BIOS mode, and you should boot it in whichever mode your main OS uses, which appears to be UEFI.  I would start by rebuilding your Rescue Media on a working system if at all possible, even if it means installing the Free version somewhere.  The only thing you'll lose by using the Free version is the ReDeploy feature, which you wouldn't need anyway if you're restoring an image captured from that system.
