Q: External Battery Tip Size for Spectre x360

I have a RavPower external battery pack that doesn't have a connector tip for my Spectre X360 laptop. Does anyone know the size of the tip on the end of the power adapter, or better yet, where to buy one that will work?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I've had my Spectre x360 for two months now and noticed this just recently. The reason I noticed was that it was the first time I had a completely white screen, and the defect became very apparent. Spot stays stationary on screen and is most apparent with white or grey backgrounds, and is not very noticeable on blacks. The machine has been handled very delicately and not transported so it's certainly not damage. Will HP replace the unit for me? This is the second Spectre X360 I've had, first had WiFi and track pad problems and I am beginning to get quite frustrated.

I recently bought my Spectre x360 and overall I am very happy with my purchase. However, I am a bit concerned with battery life. For my version (i7 processor and UHD screen) I am only achieving about 5 hours usage from each charge. I had expected nearer 9 hours from the adverts for the model. Reading messages from other users I seem to find that to achieve nearer 9 hours i should lower screen brightness to about 50%. Surely the main reason for buying a notebook with a UHD-4K screen is for the display to be bright especially when watching videos (Nertflix, iPlayer etc).Any suggestions about improving battery life please

I bought the Spectre x360 to replace my HP Envy.  The promised 12+ hours of battery life have resulted in only 4 hours.  VERY disappointing since, I've chosen to buy this product over MAC which delivers 10 hours.  I have checked the forum and there is no solution to this and has been going on for at least a year.  Why is HP not delivering?  I spent $1400 for something that was promised and not delivered.  Can anyone help?  Can I send this back and get a refund? I can't find help anywhere.  LK

This morning I woke up to discover that my HP Spectre x360 does not sit flat on a desk anymore. It appears that the whole underside of the laptop has adopted a convex curvature, and the center of it contacts the desk below. My guess is that the battery is going bad and has expanded. Anyone else having this issue? Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Hi,  I was not super sure as to where to post this so I put "Notebook Video, Display and Touch".So I bought this new HP Spectre x360 about a week ago during the cyber sales in preparation for classes at University next semester as I was wanting something small, lightwieght, and with a long lasting battery that could get me though the shcool day. I love everything about this laptop except it seems to have a very short battery life. When I bought it, all the tech reviews and the official HP website claimed an 11 to 12 hour battery life, however I cannot seem to get more than around 4 or 5. Perhaps the battery is bad?I do not know too much about computers so I had my brother help me choose the model. I have the i7 6500u, 16gbs of ram, and a 512gb SSD. My brother said with these specific components, the battery life could be effected a little bit but was under the impression that it would still be able to serve me at least 8 hours while at school. Should I contact HP support about the battery life problem? Thank you for any advice you can give me.

I bought a brand new hp spectre x360 last December 2016 because I was amaze of the features being advertised at Best Buy Station Square Burnaby, CA store and they order it for me. When I got my order which I'm expecting it's brand new product, however after 2 weeks of using it I observed that the battery life has short period of time to think that I fully charged it. Because of these I return my laptop in the store to give complain regarding this matter. The store took it for repair and until now it's almost a month I haven't received any update regarding the status of my laptop. And I'm paying for the laptop which I haven't use. Kindly address this issue and hoping to hear from HP company soon.

The battery life on the Spectre x360 that I got two months ago is absolutely dissapointing. Running the default installation of Windows, I'm lucky to get 3.5 hours of battery life using the HP Recommended powerplan while browsing the internet on a stable WiFi network. I have been working with this computer for two months now and after two hours I have to plug it in. Is there anything that I can do to fix this issue or would my best bet be to contact HP directly? I bought this laptop solely based off of the claims that it could get up to 12 hours on battery and the fact that I'm lucky to see a third of that is upsetting.

hello, I have a brand new HP Spectre x360, and am very happy with it. However, the battery is getting drained when the laptop is shut-off (not in sleep mode, but really shut-off, by using the windows start button). From 100% to 90% in one week time, and even down to 0% if left for some weeks.I'm wondering if this is due to a problem with the battery (or some other manufacturing issue), or if itīs caused by some kind of setting that causing the computer to not completely shut down for example. Could the farst start-up have anything to do with it? Is there any setting I should change?  Would really appreciate your help as this doesn't seem normal for a completely new computer... Thanks!

I bought the i7, QHD version of the Spectre convertible laptop two days before Christmas. Overall, I think it's a great product - which makes it even sadder that I'm thinking of returning it.The advertisements said 11 hours of battery life. Now, obviously that's not going to be accurate for normal everyday usage, but the salespeople in the store (and common sense) said that it would probably still get at least an eight hour, more like nine hour battery life on a single charge. Nope! FOUR HOURS. That's ridiculous. That's just over a third of the advertised battery life.I thought (and still think) it might be an issue with the battery itself, as the computer runs really really hot - it's basically impossible to put this thing on my lap at times. Which is annoying. But I did the HP Support Assistant battery check and it said it was fine, and then I did the BIOS battery check and it passed. And then the HP staff member I was chatting with on the support system had the gall to say "4 hours is actually really good". NO, IT IS NOT REALLY GOOD. Similar laptops in this category get about 7 hours of real time use. I bought this computer in large part because of that puported long battery life, and all the reviews said that the battery life was pretty great - none mentioned being four hours. Were reviewers sent different computers? And this four hours is not playing video games on full brightness settings. No. This four hours is on 25% brightness, power saver mode on, battery saver mode ... Read more

I recently purchased my laptop this past April and it has stopped charging.  I thought it was the charger since my guinea pig chewed the mickey mouse cable a bit, so I got a replacement in the mail.  However, replacing the cable did not solve the issue.  The partially chewed cable worked up until the day I installed Windows 10, coincidentally.  I'm just wondering if it's possible that installing Windows 10 could have caused some unkown bug to cause my laptop to stop charging.  I really don't think it's the charger since it is brand new.  Please can anybody help me?  Thank you. P.S. The laptop battery is dead so I cannot turn it on to check drivers or bios.

I just bought the Spectre 360 and am having the same overheating issues as above.  One of the main reasons for the purchase was the hyperbaric cooling system so the laptop would not overheat.  This one is so hot to the touch within an hour of turning it on that it burns my leg if I am using it on my lap.  When on a table, the bottom vents are covered but the side vents are not.  This is a laptop, it is not built to carry around a cooling table, it is meant to be portable.  Mine is less than 12 hours old and I feel as though I need to return it too.  Any updates to this issue before I do that? Thanks.

This Spectre X360 is only 6 days old and the battery life is abysmal.  The battery life is comppletely opposed to what HP advertises. For me, the advertised 12.5 Hours of battery life was the key point to buy it. But I can barely get 4 hours of light use. Is this an isolated problem or a common proble with this model. I am really dissaponted. I would like to keep it as I like the rest of it, but the battery, struggling to get barely to four hours is completely unacceptable. HP is misleading customers. This issue is forcing me to return it and look for alternate options. What are the best settings for Better Battery life? I do word processing and light web browsing to do research and the battery life is very dissapointing.

A:Spectre X360 13-4103dx battery li is abysmal

Where do you have the screen brightness set? That is the biggest factor. If you lower the brightness you can extend the life significantly. The runtime claims of laptop makers are like gas mileage claims for cars; true, but only under ideal, laboratory conditions rarely achieved in real life.  You are not the only one to complain. I also have a laptop that is designed for long battery life; Lenovo Carbon X1. I get maybe 5 hours and Lenovo claims 8. I am very happy with 5 hours as I have been using laptops long enough to know that claims of "all day" battery life are not realistic.

I don't use my Spectre X360 daily but I find it strange that every time I want to use it, the battery seems completely empty. If I power down the device and store it for 5-6 days the system won't even switch on as the battery is dead and power button no longer responds. One time I left it untouched for almost 2 weeks and I could not even get it to charge using the usb-c charger supplied with it. I had to keep it connected to powersocket, wait 10 minutes and then boot and then let it drain below 10% before it would re-charge again when switched off. The powericon showed 15% battery status and connected to mains but kept displaying "....not charging"Hybernation is switched off, the power button is acting as real power down and I have modified energysettings several times but nothing seems to solve my poor battery life. Is this normal behaviour ??? If so... the device is completely useless as it won't even last 1.5 hrs simple browsing behaviour and it goes dead when switched off. A mobile device that needs to be connected to main power all the time is not mobile but acts as desktop. If I would need a desktop I wouldn't have bought an expensive HP Spectre for sure.... How can this issue be fixed ?

Hello all, I recently bought the new HP Spectre x360 (Late 2016 Build) and since then I have noticed problems retaining charge after the computer is completely shut down. I exchanged the laptop yesterday for the same model and have also witnessed battery discharge after shut down. The discharge is about 6-8% every 8 hours when it is shut down. The things I have tried:Turn off Fast BootDeactivate Hibernate (deactivates fast boot as well)Battery Check and Calibration (Battery Check came back "Okay")Deactivate selective USB chargingDeactivate USB Charging when the system is off (using BIOS) I was promised that the issue would be fixed if I calibrated my battery by an HP support employee which did not work. I found a prospective solution online that has caused a known battery drain for thousands of HP Users. Many users experienced this odd battery drainage due to the Intel Management Engine Interface (IMEI) Driver but this is purely what users are reporting and may not even solve my problem. Does anyone else have the same issue and have solved it? If so, please give me a hand. Worst comes to worst, I will have to return this laptop. I have spent too much time trying to resolve this issue (probably 6 hours) and am extremely frustrated since you don't expect this type of issue out of a "luxury" laptop nor a new one at that. Thanks! Recently, my Spectre X360 seemed to be completely flat every time I went to use it. This is despite being turned off (not in sleep mode or any other lazy-shutdown mode). I've had this lappy for probably two years now, but use it only occasionaly, like say, once every two months. With that infrequent use, I do expect some discharge over that time and it usually had some charge left in it as far back as I can remember. Nevertheless, of late, I've been using the lappy a bit more frequently and have noticed it was completely flat after leaving it for just a week or less. So I searched for an answer on this forum and found a couple of threads that went on for pages with "me too" posts and useless cut-and-paste answers from techs (mostly offering software "solutions") which I knew were not relevant. Eventually I found a couple of clues burried deep in the threads that made sense.  They were the 5v USB charging while turned off along with having any USB devices left attached (someone mentioned mouse dongles). Immediatly, I realised that my recently purchased 128Gb Sandisk nub drive, which I have left attached, may have been a contributor. Subsequently, I;1. Now remove the nub drive when the machine is not in use (despit it being designed to be left in all the time).2. Hello,I've recetnly bought brand new hp spectre x360 13and it has a obvious problem with a battery.  The battery is getting drained when the laptop is shut-down(yes, complytly shut-down not in a sleep mode). It can drain about 8-10% battery per night, what is kinda annoying and unacceptable for high-end laptop.I'm wondering if this is due to a problem with the battery or if it is caused by some kind of setting that causing the computer not shut-downing properly.I've already disabled USB power option in BIOS. It didn't help.  Would really appreciate your help. I think this is not a common thing in a new laptop.

Hello all, I'm really hoping to get to the bottom of this. When I was on the market for a laptop, I needed one that would have great battery, be light, and be fast - as a result, I purchased a "HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop - 15t touch" -- Product number: P0A58AV_1. I mention the exact name and product number to ensure that if someone from HP sees this they know that I'm referring to the newer model - from 2016.  The computer is fast -- not as fast as I was hoping after upgrading to the i7 with max RAM, but fast enough. It's also light. But the battery is horrible! I travel often and that's why I need a good battery - I just came off a flight yesterday where the laptop went from 99% to 43% after a movie that was a little under 2hrs.  The day before I was working on Photoshop and it lasted about 3.5hrs total. The other day I was simply keeping it on as it was downloading a large file, with brightness down to about 50%, and it lasted 4.5hrs. This is outrageous!  To clarify - I am a very technical user (web developer), and have already done everything I can (within reason) to stretch the battery life as much as possible. Disabled bluetooth and WiFi searching, I keep the brightness at 75% max at all times and 50% when possible, and I also maxed the CPU to 70%. Still, the laptop will not hold more than 5hrs even when not actively working on it, and it will barely hit 4hrs if watching video on it. Furthermore, as I am writing this I only... Read more

Hello, I got my 2016 HP Spectre x360 (Kaby Lake) laptop a week ago, and it seems the battery life is very underwhelming. I get around 4 hours from mixed usage (browsing/productivity/media). I had the previous gen. Spectre and almost similar tasks got me 8hr+ battery life. I've tried battery testing/calibration etc. suggested in the support pages. Anyone else having similar problems? I want to give the laptop some chance before I replace/return it.

Hi! I purchased my laptop around 3 to 4 months ago via my school. Initially, the laptop was able to live up to its claims of a "long battery life" but within 2 months, the battery life had decreased from 10 hours to 2-3 hours. Moreover, the laptop seems to be very laggy, despite the fact that the majority of my files are stored in Dropbox and I rarely have anything more than a few google chrome tabs open (and occasionally a microsoft word document open). Are there ways to solve this? Should I purchase a new battery?

I've had this laptop a year and a half, no prior problems and I was using it yesterday. When I woke up this morning I put the laptop on the charger for thirty minutes before I realized it said "plugged in, not charging". I did some research, reinstalled battery devices through the Device Manager, no luck. Then I ran a battery test on the startup and found out that my battery is failing.Battery Check: Primary- Replace(42)FAILURE ID: PUSNKD-7KQ8A7-MFPWMG-C0CW03PRODUCT ID: L0Q52UA#ABA

Dear Customer, After seeing the first instance of an HP Battery Alert message, you should consider replacing your battery with a new battery soon. What if I continue to use the battery after seeing the HP Battery Alert message? As with all rechargeable batteries, your battery will continue to gradually lose storage capacity with time and use. This loss of capacity will continue even after the HP Battery Alert appears, so continued use of the battery could result in an unplanned system shutdown How long is the battery warranty? Most HP notebook computer batteries are warranted for a period of one (1) year from the later of the notebook computer manufacture date or the date on your valid proof of purchase. Please contact HP and see if its covered under Warranty!! If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html  For more information and detailed instructions about the HP Battery Check, see the document for your operating system:Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 10)Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 8)Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 7) Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  **Click the White Thumbs Up Button on the right to say Thanks**Make it easi... My Spectre x360 which I purchased less than a year ago is draining battery when it is completely shut off.  I read another post in this forum that stated the exact same issue but did not see a viable answer.  The answer said to plug the charger into a wall outlet.  That was pretty much the answer.  The issue has nothing to do with plugging the charger to either an outlet directly or to a power strip or any other manner.  The charger charges fine.  No problem there.  But after shutting the Laptop down and try to turn it back on after around 24 hours, the battery has draied pretty much dry.  Now that I see other posts with the same problem, I have to conclude this is a manufacturing defect.  Something somewhere is draining the bettery.  I have no external devices connected to the Laptop when it is shutdown. And please don't suggest to plug the charger into a wall outlet.   Babu.

I will buy the spectre x360 if I can confirm it supports my setup: I need to connect 2 external monitors (both with thunderbolt 3 to mDP cable). This is possible, right? Then, and that is what i cannot confirm anywhere, is there a way to charge the spectre without disconnecting one of the screens? I am OK if that requires a special adapter (I have seen thunderbolt to hdmi atapters where you can connect a USB-C charger ). I just really need to confirm this setup is possible, as my setup require 3 screens (2 + spectre's)  and don't want to disconnect a screen to charge the spectre. One battery charge is not enough to last me the whole day.

A:Spectre x360 2 external monitors and charging

The Spectre x360 has two USB Type-C power connector and Thunderbolt ports. You can connect them to two displays that has a USB-Type-C connector. You will have to disconnect one to charge the Spectre. It is an ultrabook, and not chargeable with the single USB 3.0 port. Displays with thunderbolt portshttps://www.google.nl/search?q=LCD+displays+with+thunderbolt+ports&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-... The main battery in the Spectre 360x is stated to provide up to 15 hours of use.  There is an accessory http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-powerup-backpack available that will provide plenty of power for your ultrabook.

The HP spectre x360 is advertised as having up to 12.5 hours of battery life. I was so excited when I got it until 4 hours later when it died. So I set out to maximize its battery life to get the advertised 12 hours. Yet, after taking ABSOLUTELY EXTREME measures to extend its battery life to the fullest, I was ONLY able to get 8 hours of battery life. Here's what I did (My laptop is fully updated latest drivers and everything): Generated a Battery Health Report (everything looked good)Used HP's 'Support Assistant' Battery Check and it came back "OK".Turned on 'Powersave Mode' (this dims the screen even at 100%)Reduced the screen brightness to 70%Limited my use to just ONE program (Microsoft Edge) with super quick use of a few other programs.Disabled Cortana.Disabled One Drive sync.Disabled Desktop Slideshow.Disabled ALL auto startup processes services that I knew to be safe to disable. (I disabled things like Bonjour service, google update, microsoft update and adobe update services). Went into advanced power options & set the "Maximum Processor Performance" to 60% (this caps it at 1.48GHz)Even set the WiFi to "Maximum Battery Savings".Then thought "Oh what the hell" and set EVERYTHING to "Maximum Battery Savings" (things like the GPU, the hard drive, etc).Went into the BIOS and disabled the 'eternal flame' LED indicator  on the F5 key. After exactly 8 hours of use I was down to 14% so I turned off the wifi a...
