Preferred Solution: Please Help - Second post - email sending itself

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I use Outlook for email, from Office 2007 Professional because the accounting program and my Palm Pro PDA likes it.

Just recently I have had a couple of complaints that emails with a video attached I have forwarded have been delivered to the addressee in excess of 30 or 40 times.

The latest was last night when one of my sons said he had received it 104 times, and another friend in the USA 99 times, needless to say both aren't happy, the video was a wmv (3mb).

When my son called me a an hour or so later it was still in my outgoing mail box, obviously because it was still sending.

I have run full AV scan using Esset Nod32 which came up clean, so I’m at a loss where else the problem is or where/what to look for.

Thanks for reading…..Any clues/help would be appreciated.

Hi,l

My antivirus software is showing that I'm sending email that I'm not sending! I don't even know where it is sending from. And it is yucky SPAM headlines that it looks like it is sending. I use AVAST anitvirus. I'm on a wireless laptop running xp home. Microsoft outlook express and hotmail and gmail are the email accounts that I use.

What to do?

Intermittently, Outlook 2007 will crash while sending an email and, needless to say, the email is not sent. However I wanted to know if there is a temp or backup copy of that mail anywhere. I've looked in drafts and it's not there.

I've sometimes typed a very long email and then lost the whole email when Outlook crashes so I just wanted to know if, like Word, there is a temp file that may be created.

Thanks.

Hi cp, welcome to TSG. Do you have Autosave enabled for Outlook? If not, perhaps this link will help.

hello:

i have been trying to fix my email/outlook spam issue.  emails are going out WITH my actual email address, sending emails to people in my contacts, etc.
I also have been getting a ton of spam emails myself.

I use:

-Windows 7 Pro
-64 Bit
-Outlook 2010

Good morning, people,

One of my users here is having a wierd issue with her Outlook program...Every time she sends an email out, a .txt file of that email is sent as an attachment to that email.

So an email saying, "Greetings!", has the text file attached that says, "Greetings!".

Any ideas?

A:Outlook sending a copy of email w/email

Must be set to send in both plain text and HTML? But I thought in that case that it was done the other way around...

Turn off one or the other in the E-mail options, would be my guess.

Hi,

I have a form using POST when requests the generation of a PDF report. The target for the form allows the PDF to be displayed in a new window without interfering with the page the user clicked on the form. I'm tomcat which generates the report and streams the report back with the correct content type via a servlet.

In Internet Explorer 6 I'm seeing strange behaviour in that when the form is first submitted, the PDF report is generated correctly, but if I switch back to the original page and click the link again, the form is submitted using a GET request (with no parameters). I used to simply have a standard link to generate the report but wanted to avoid any side affects of pre-fetching as the reports can sometimes take a long time to generate, this standard link seemed to work without any problems.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

thanks

Mark

Hi, I have exactly the same problem as CoachMcGuirk does in this thread:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/173074/infected-with-unknown-virus-outlook-2007-sending-spam-upon-open/I only discovered it about 30mins ago... hadn't downloaded or installed anything today so perhaps it's been sitting there idle for a while? As it's only just discovered I am still in the process of doing different scans (online ones) but my local and up-to-date AVG did not pick anything up.As a temporary measure I have created a bogus email account and made it default for outlook as it only tries to send from the default account. It is definitely sending the emails from my computer because in the send/receive status it says "Sending X/Y"... however there is nothing in sent items or in drafts. Also, by logging into my gmail account online I can see the messages it has sent (it saves them in its sentbox).In the other thread you asked for what the emails said. Mine appear to be blank, but definitely spam related as per the following subjects! (copied from gmail):" To: Aharon-esguerra Not read: Drive her to extasy every night. I am having a problem sending email to an AOL address via outlook 2002. I can send to the address using my webmail portal and my yahoo, but not through my outlook. all other emails go out properly.

any ideas?

A:sending email to AOL

Hi, AOL email never did work with Outlook Express, I am not sure about Microsoft Outlook that comes with Office, if that is the Outlook you are meaning....

AOL users could not send mail nor get mail through OE, at least back a few years ago they could not, and if AOL was the service provider....there were some utilities that claimed to circumvent this, but I have not used them, and it seemed difficult to install and set these up, I did not bother with it at all.
(Things might be different with AOL mail these days.)
If you typed up a new mail in OE, and tried to send it, you would get an error message...of course, since there usually would have not been any account set up for POP3 mail in or out, no servers to connect to, and since AOL used different types of mail service, no way to get mail into OE.

Getting a Gmail account, free, might be a quicker solution, Gmail is simply great.

You should check out this: Description of Google's Gmail, how it works, privacy, etc...

http://www.technologyreview.com/read_article.aspx?id=16349

And also> , take a look at this, it may be the easiest way to do it>

http://support.email2pop.com/eMail2Pop_Introduction.html

You do still I think have to be invited to Gmail, so if you know someone who has it, they should have invitations to spare...if you want to try it, let us know, I have invitations.

In Outlook Express, you can set it up to do that, but I don't think Outlook will let you. With O/E, there's a choice somewhere in the Options that says "Do not send mail immediately," but I found no such feature in Outlook.

Hi there

what email client are you using on both systems, also remember network connections and are you running from SAME computer.

Linux networking in general is superior to Windows but if you are using a decent email client it shouldn't make a huge amount of difference.

Other factors -- what "pre-scans" etc are done by the email client (virus / attachment checking etc), are both set up to use imap / pop3 or going through an Ms Exchange server. Loads of things you need to compare when doing this type of analysis.

Any webmail based client is likely to be hideously slow though when compared with a proper email client on whatever system.

Cheers

Hi, and welcome to the board.

- First, set Windows 98 to display three-letter file extensions: Open My Computer, choose View, Folder Options and click the View tab. Deselect the checkmark next to "Hide file extensions for known filetypes." Click OK.

- Click Start, Run, type sendto, and click OK. Windows will open a window titled SendTo.

- Right-click in the SendTo window and select New, Text Document.
Rename the file to Mail Recipient.MAPIMail (copy this exactly).
Close the SendTo window.

Good luck,

Previously i was helped with code to send a static email through outlook express. Which work perfectly in my home network but when I took it to my work network I could not get the emails to send. Here is the code that worked at my network at home:
Code:
Public Sub Email()

Dim iMsg As Object
Dim iConf As Object
Dim WBname As String
Set iMsg = CreateObject("CDO.Message")
Set iConf = CreateObject("CDO.Configuration")

With iMsg
Set .Configuration = iConf
.To = "[email protected]"
.CC = ""
.BCC = ""
.From = """test"" <[email protected]>"
.Subject = "test"
.TextBody = "message"
.AddAttachment ""
.send
End With

End Sub
The only major difference that is obvious, is the email at the office requires SPA where as my home network does not. Any thoughts Would be great!

Hi, What i have done to aleviate this problem is when adding contacts to the address book, i have listed a display name. So when sending an email it will only display what you have listed. You can edit the contact in address book by selecting the person, right click, properties, it then will enable you to edit this.

Hi, I think this is possible. I am trying to send an e-mail through gmail that is made up of html. It's a news letter so I want it to show up like a web page in the e-mail, is this possible and how do I do it?

Thanks,

David

A:Sending an html email

Sure, entirely possible to send HTML emails. Most emails probably are HTML vs text only.
When you click to compose an email at the gmail website, if you are in text only,
right below "attach file" it will say...rich formatting. Click that. If you have things
showing like fonts, text size, bullets, align left, align center, align right, etc...then you are
already in HTML (rich formatting). In that case yours should say Plain Text on the
far right. And there is nothing further to do, except setup your "web page" email.

Now, that you understand that, help me to understand why you can't do what you want
to do? Just that you haven't tried it yet?

If you want to have images, they will have to come from the internet. Copy the picture
and paste it where you want it, in your email.

If there is some particular stumbling block, post the specific and I'll try to answer it.

I have a Yahoo email account and a Cox (Internet Provider) email account. I send & receive a great deal of emails from both. However, I frequently am told that an email I sent did not reach the recipient (from both accounts) + I frequently am asked, "Did you receive my email?" To which I reply, "No." None of my sent messages that do not arrive at their destination are returned or bounced back. They are just "out there" somewhere.

Of course, if someone sends me an email that I don't receive, I don't usually know it. Alternately, if I send one that does not arrive at its destination, I usually don't know that either.

Since I do receive & successfully send so many emails, why are some not being processed properly? At the suggestion of Cox, I uninstalled Zone Alarm & changed from Outlook Express to Incredimail. Neither made any difference. The emails that I do not receive are not always from the same person, & in fact, I might receive one email from a particular individual, but not receive the next one that same person sends. The same applies when I send an email.

Please help!

A:Sending & Receiving email

It would take a book to describe everything. We don't even know what OS and service packs, if any, you have?

Since you send "many" maybe your emails are being "received" as spam by various ISPs and thrown out before the recipient gets them. Maybe the settings on their computers are preventing them from being received. Do you send in Text Only Mode? Are there files embedded? Attachments?

Check all settings in your anti-virus and firewall. Turn off anything that is specifically for scanning email.

If you want to pursue this, you would have to provide detailed information about specific instances. That would include knowing exactly what the sender is using for emails and other programs that might malfunction.

I'm very new to VBA, so forgive my ignorance. I'm working with Word 2010.
I've created a form the user must fill out. What I'm trying to do, once the user has finished answering the other questions on the form, to have them click on the individuals who need to get a copy of the form and have it emailed to all selected. I assumed this would entail:
1 Create a listbox with 6 names in it
2 Enable the user to click on one or more names to highlight the names they want
3 Make sure if they click a name a second time it takes the highlight off that name
4 Set it so that when they click on the module beginning CommandButton2_Click() it will send a copy of the ActiveDocument to the email address of each person in the listbox whose name has been highlighted

I am not really sure how to populate the listbox properly with the individual entries.
I've created a button successfully that will send the document to predesignated email addresses that are hard programmed into the vba script.
What I can't figure out is the proper coding to list the individuals in the listbox, and then set up a if/then statement so that when the button is clicked, it will send the document only to the selected people in the listbox.

Can anyone assist?

Thank you.

Someone seems to be sending emails from my gmail account to my contacts. However, there is no record of the emails in my sent items. I've had people forward me the messages that were sent (usually a random link), and gmail flags them as suspicious. The only record I have of them is that occasionally they show up in my spam when the address is wrong and they bounce back (there is usually a error message that says " It seems to be a fake "bounce" reply to a message that you didn't actually send.")

I've changed my password several times, forwarded the email headers to google, turned on two-step verification and checked for any suspicious login activity. Any suggestions on what to do to fix this?

I downloaded and ran combofix, but that is as far as I got. I would like to upload a log to see if anyone can assist me in resolving this issue. My problem now is that once I ran combofix, I cannot restore my network connections. I have tried to repair the connection, reinstall the hardware, reset the winsock, but nothing works. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You have know experienced why we warn users against using ComboFix without guidance. Please see the note in blue at the top of this forum. Our best solution is to post a DDS log in the HJT forum. You may have to move the program to you computer and the log from your computer via flash drive, but the team will help as best they can. They may also ask for the combofix log, but do not post it until asked. Trust me here, they are the experts.Please follow this guide from step (6). Post a HJT log to the HJT forum and a Team member will be along to help you as soon as possible. You may wish to post a link back to this topic to see what was discussed thus far. If you need any help with the guide, please let me know.

I have been using the same internet provider and email username, etc for several years without problems. I recently relocated (temporarily) from Michigan to Texas, and am connected to the net by a phone modem set up. My connection method in MI wa via a DSL Hi speed wireless connection.

I am using WindowsXP SP2, with Firebird and Thunderbird as my primary access to the Internet. I also have OE and Eudora Pro mail programs loaded and use them intermittently.

I downloaded IE7 recently, and haven't noticed any drastic problems that I would feel like installation, other than when I try to send a new email, or forward (or reply to) one that I have received, I get the following error message:

"An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Relay access denied. Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail Preferences and try again."

I have checked the Preferences settings and they all appear to be set correctly. Anyone have a suggestion? Have I discovered a new IE7 glitch?

Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.

Tevbev

Hi there!

I'm real stumped here. I have an Excel document setup to find the row where there is an "x" in column N and send an email. I have an Outlook template setup and have the VBA setup to replace words in the template with data in the excel document.

It seemingly goes off without a hitch. Once i run the macro the email pulls up and i see the data has been inserted. So all i have to do is hit send on the email.

The problem is once i hit send, the email is sent without the data from the excel document. It basically looks like the original template without any changes. Can someone please tell me what i'm doing wrong? I've used the very same code in another excel document (with various changes to the data being inserted) and it works just fine. Thank you

Here is my code:

Sub SendEmail()
Dim myOlApp As Outlook.Application
Dim MyItem As Outlook.MailItem
Set myOlApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")

'Loop through the rows
For Each cell In Columns("N").Cells.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible)
If cell.Value Like "x" Then

'Get the data

EmailAddr = cell.Offset(0, 1).Value
Claim = cell.Offset(0, -11).Value
Report = cell.Offset(0, -7).Value
Comments = cell.Offset(0, -8).Value
Responsible = cell.Offset(0, -9).Value
Findings = cell.Offset(0, -1).Value
Set MyItem = myOlApp.CreateItemFromTemplate("H:\EXCHANGE\Correction Required - URGENT.oft")
With MyItem

.To = EmailAddr
.HTMLBody = Replace(.HTML... Read more
