I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I have a few questions about this PC I acquired recently, still being somewhat of a newbie to the building/modifying PC world. I have found the overview and the detailed specifications page on this PC, but for me, they are a bit hard to understand. What my ultimate goal is that i'll be able to make this into an XP Era gaming computer, have a lot of old PC games and I would like to play them. Yes I know its a bit silly to do when there's Steam and X amount of core processors available, but for nostalgia's sake, humor me. So specs first, then questions.Lenovo/IBM ThinkCentreM55(not sure if its a p, e, or whatever else there is)Model#: 8811FHUSerial#: LKHZFV3Motherboard: LENOVO LGA775Socket 775 LGAProcessor: Intel Pentium D 925 3.0 GHzRam: 2GBios Version: LENOVO 2JKT35AUS 4/30/07OS: Windows 7 Ult 32-bit So here are my questions,- Is the mobo 64 bit compatible or is it up to the cpu? (I plan on putting XP 64 bit if so)- What is the max amount, max speed the mobo can handle? (And if I put higher speed ram in would it be beneficial or would it just clock it down to whatever it needed)- Is is possible to upgrade the cpu at all and if so what are some of my options? (say to a 945 Pentium D 3.0 GHz or anything better?)- How does the whole mobo controls cpu choice/ cpu dictates ram speed/ ram limited to mobo or however it goes work anyways?- Best or any graphics cards that still support XP out there? Hiya, In my current PC I have an i5 3470, and In the Thinkcentre M91p i have recently purchased, it has an i7 2600, which is a little overkill for what ive purhcased it for, so I was thinking of swapping the cpu's so I have the 2600 in my gaming PC and the Thinkcentre gets the 3470.However I'm not sure if this would work as I have no idea whether the motherboard of the ThinkCentre would accept the new Ivy Bridge chip, and I don't even know if my Asus P8H77-V would accept the 2600?So would this work? and how would I go about doing it? Hello ! A friend of mine brought me his computer to make a fresh format/reinstall and possibly upgrade it. I cleaned the computer, changed thermal pasta with arctic silver mx5 etc. Activated windows 7 premium family with the key on the side of the computer, so far so good. But the computer could really use an upgrade. So I checked on the internet and found this :  Socket is AM2, and Phenom ready (page4). Possible CPU upgrades are Athlon 2 6400+ (dual core 3.2 ghz) and Phenom x4 9550 (quad core 2.6 ghz). Also, there are 4 memory slots, DDR2 PC 6400 (800 mhz). Max memory supported is 8 gb theorically. My questions are :  - Which compatible CPU is the best ? Is Phenom x4 9550 really compatible ? - 4x 2gb ram is the best configuration ?  Thanks in advance for your help. Fabri8686

Any help woud be appreciated. Not looking for gaming use, just more power in the PSU for possible dual monitor use, better display, and power/stability for a 1/2GB GPU card. Thank you, Peter Costa

A:Lenovo ThinkCentre M81 PSU Upgrade?

Tower or Small form factor... actually posting your Machine Type Model (MTM) would help. If you have the tower, just about any ATX PSU like this one would work since I believe your motherboard as the standard 24 pin connector, but with that card you might want to wait to see if it even needs a 300w PSU, because it may work just fine with you current PSU unless you have a bunch of HDDs installed etc.. If you want a Lenovo PSU that shipped with the M81, you can get a 280 watt like this one  https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Lenovo-41A9684-Desktop-PS-5281-7VR/dp/B00R3NPNN6, which should be more than capable of powering your GPU. Best of luck,

My Lenovo ThinkCentre runs just fine on Vista Business and I received Win 7 Ultimate NFR for both 32 and 64 bit versions. I have no real need to upgrade the OS, but I'm a tech junky and having the latest is one of my passions. Seriously, if I go more than a week without wiping and reloading some version of an OS on my BlackBerry, I start going into withdrawal. Anyhow, I'd like to put Win7 on my system, but just not sure if it's worth any potential headaches. I could upgrade to the 32 bit relatively easily I assume, but I'm thinking of doing a clean install of the 64bit. I would probably leave the recovery partition intact and install Win7 over the running Vista OS partition.

Is there any great advantage to loading 64bit from scratch? I have 4GB installed, and of course can only see 3GB currently. All programs and hardware are compatible per Windows Upgrade Advisor. I haven't done a clean install on my pc in a few years, and I remember it being a huge pain to re-install all programs and settings. Should I just go with the 32bit version?

Thanks!

64 is the wave of the future..if you can get the drivers go for it....they are usually already on the dvd...but you may have to go get one or 2...most people dont have to go get any as the dvd has most and windows updates has the rest

I went for it on my dell..worked like a breeze...i did go to 32 later though due to a network all in 1 that wasnt happy with 64

Hi....... I am hoping that someone may be able to pint me in the right direction.   I have an old IBM Thinkcentre..... I am not sure which exact model it is.  Used to use it in my home office, but moved it out to the entertainment center ages ago and basically use it as a "jukebox" that I have stored all my music into and feed my audio system.  I run nothing else, and it worked fine doing this for years.  Anyway, with a recent update in iTunes, I now am experiencing issues playing back music, as I never have before.   I populated the main board with 4GB of RAM, but when I check in system information...... although it states 4GB installed, it only chows 2.25GB in "total physical memory". I have tried everything I could to increase performance of the resources I have..... disabled what was unnecessary and turned off everything that does not absolutely need to run in the background, but have only improved things a bit.  In doing some research, it was suggested that a  BIOS update "may" allow me to go beyond the RAM limitations of my system.  I figured I would try this out before bagging it and just investing in a new computer. Anyway, I have attached a snapshot of my system configuration.  Can anyone help me find a later version of BIOS?  I have tried searching for it myself, but everything points me back to the Lenovo site, were I cannot find anything.  When I plug in my serial number, it does not find a... http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-60466 I have this M52 8113-D5U computer. It is equipped with a 3 GHz socket 775 Pentium4 and has some kind of cheesy intel chipset. I want to upgrade the processor to a dual core but I cannot find any information suggesting which model CPU to purchase. The specs on the Lenovo website list the Pentium D as compatible. However the listing only mentions that it can support the "Prescott" and the "Smithfield" but its not specific enough to mention which exact models and what exact stepping would be supported. I seem to recall reading that this model only supported D stepping somewhere but I can't remember if that is right. Strangely, the prescott IS NOT dual core and the Smithfield cores do not even have D stepping. Now the Smithfield cores which are apparently supported seem to have A and B stepping. But I don't know which one to purchase. It doesn't say in the support article which exact Pentium D processor is supported. There are four Smithfield Pentium D models and each model is available in either A or B stepping. So that is 8 different Pentium D Smithfield Processors and the website article does not mention which one of them is compatible.  What dual core processor can I put in this machine? Hi, everybody.

I'm trying to figure out a number of things about 'switching' everything important from my current (old model) computer over to the Lenova ThinkCentre A50 8148-22U (which I received as a gift).

My main concerns are:

(1) How can I get all (emphasis on 'all' because I understand MS and others embed data into very low (unaccessible regions of hard disks!)? I'm concerned about making sure the System Registry gets copied completely.

Is there a software utility or a 'cable option' that performs a true "bit" (mirror) copy from one HD to another HD? My current HD has all my extremely-difficult-to-install/update info on it already. That's why I would prefer using its data. I want to be able to boot my current drive's OS instead of the OS already installed on the 8148.

I'm not certain at this point of writing what type/model my current HD drive is. (I didn't look before writing this post. Heh heh. Sorry!).

I read on Lenova's website forum where someone said to another user: "Since your computer has ultra-ATA connectors, make sure that internal drives (including hard drives) you purchase are ultra-ATA compatible. Most drives on the market are serial-ATA drives".

(2) If my drive is not "ultra-ATA compatible," what do you recommend?

(3) I need to use my current AGP video card by installing it in the AGP slot on the 8148-22U. The reason is, that my HDMI monitor plugs in... Read more

Just wondering if, and how, I can troubleshoot an oddity I have. We run a number of this model Lenovo and decided they would be better with 8Gb of RAM, up from the original 4Gb. All went smoothly until one PC emitted a musical alert on booting after the upgrade, which stopped when I removed the new RAM. I checked I had the new RAM in the correct slot, blue just like the original stick. I tried the suspect stick in the next box and it is fine. Where do I start looking to find out what is going on? Regards, Granville.

A:Thinkcentre m92p memory upgrade failed

I would repace the original 4GB with upgrade memory, test to see if it boots, and then put original memory into upgrade slot and test, if it fails, that slot is probably bad.   You could use it in the other bank, won't be as fast, but you'll have 8GB.

After any memory upgrade or change, I suggest running a couple of passes of MemTest86, the free version, to ensure all is well.

It is of no use to mention the exact cpu models. I have three questions, I hope someone that was in my situation could help: 1. What is the technical reason why a cpu with the same socket type won't work?2. Besides removing battery, RAM and disk drives, is there anything else I could try?3. Can i just buy ANY motherboard compatible with the I3-4170 and put it in the M93p? Hoping that the RAM modules and PSU are 100% compatible with any component. Thanks for your help!!!!

I'm trying to watch some HD videos at the very least! Also gaming can always be a plus. I notice the card riser PCIe x1 produces problems because there's not enough room inside the small form factor case. Also i'm hearing the PSU (225w max) is also a factor - which a GPU is very limited. I just want to know if anyone had success with one of these simliar models i'm cureently writing about?

hello guys (my native language is italian excuse me for bad english) I have a thinkcentre A58 7515 with all stock components:
motherboard: l ig41m rev 1.1
cpu: pentium e5200 2.5 ghz
chipset: Intel G41 Express Chipset (PCI Express® x16) max tdp on PCIe 75 watt
ram: 2 slot ram ddr2 667/800mhz stock 1st slot:2gb 2nd slot:1gb soon I will replace the 2nd slot with another 2gb total 4gb (maximum supported by motherboard)
PSU: 280 Watt Robust/80plus
If there are any other questions about specs you can ask.
Now first what i need is upgrade this pc to a low budget gaming pc and first i need to know if i can upgrade this motherboard with a core 2 duo e8400 that works in others models of a58 like 7705 (mine is 7515) (full specs of this series in this .pdf at page 500 http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/ldwbook2013.pdf )
I need to know one other thing about GPU,for now it has integrated grapichs from the cpu and i want upgrade it to a Sapphire R7 240 1GB GDDR5(this gpu only need 45 watt tdp),this card seems to be a best choice for low budget gamers ( I accept suggestions for other GPUs with the same price range 50/60$ even used or refurbished are ok but they can not have more than 75 watts tdp because i haven't got money to upgrade psu and I can only use power supply that pcie slot gives me.  thx for any reply, your help is essential to me for made this build,I would not spend money on something that I do not know if it will work.

While contemporaneous ATI/AMD graphics cards will work, newer generation AMD cards are generally not backward compatible with older ThinkCentres.   I suggest you search for which newer Nvidia will work with your system.

The readme file for the Nvidia driver for your system has a list of supported cards, but since it is from 2009, it is dated.

Hello, as the title says.. Can I expect this CPU to work? Do I need something else than BIOS update -I have the latest 2EKT46A, dated 6/2/2009  (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds000714) If not what are my other CPU options? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

A:ThinkCentre M52 (8215 D1G) CPU Upgrade - will a Pentium D 830 SL8CN (3 GHz) work?

Well, it didn't worked The machine is M52 8215 D1G, original CPU is Pentium-4 640 3.00 GHz Prescott, stepping N0, SL7Z9The new CPU that didn't worked is Pentium D 830 3.00 GHz Smithfield, stepping B0, SL8CN In the specs here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd006096Pentium D 830 is listed as a supported CPU I am using the latest BIOS from here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd006096The changelog  mentions added support to stepping D0 CPUs - does that means that all up to D0 aresupported, or only D0? Also here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd000810 both Smithfield and Presler Pentium D arelisted as supported.. Somewhere I've found that only 8215 CTO types are with Pentium D. Mine is 8215 D1G..Is that a hardware difference or just different peripheral equipment? And last - in the BIOS update I noticed an option to change the machine type and serial number - will thatenables the Pentium D to work if I change the machine type from D1G to CTO or I will brick it? Many questions, some answered myself.. but If anyone have experience and knowledge - please share.. Thanks

We are having an issue with upgrading this PC to Win10Pro from home, no matter what we try, it will not activate. After those issues we decided to attempt imaging it through PXE, but whenever we boot it up after imaging it gets stuck on: "Getting Ready". If anyone has had any similar issues or solutions please let me know, thanks!

Hi When we try to update Bios to 1.52 from WinPE - then afuwinx64.exe fails with error: Child process failed. Return code: 55 When we try to update ThinkCentre M720q and M720s to 1.29 in WinPe afuwinx64.exe fails with the same error.  If we update from full OS (Windows 10) the bios update is succesfull Anyone got some ideas? ... wait for new bios :-) Best regardsLennard

Hi everyone - I am having one heck of a time with these ThinkCentre M90p units when trying to upgrade to the latest (Creators) build of Windows 10.  They keep losing the MBR and thus show the primary partition as "RAW" instead of NTFS as it should be.  This happens about half way through the upgrade when the system reboots.  It comes up to a BSOD 0XC000000F immediately upon attempting boot - this is, of course, because the primary partition is unreadable. Now, I have seen at least 8 of these systems do the exact same thing.  All hardware passes diagnostics with flying colors, so I know it's not a failing hardware issue.  I have done some Googling and have found where other people are having a similar issue, but none of them mention this particular model of Lenovo ThinkCentre. To test further, I did a FRESH install using an Anniversary build (1511) and then ran the latest upgrade to Creators (1607) from inside the freshly installed 1511 build.  The same problem occurs every single time.  Any ideas?  I know some of the posts I've found online state that running Windows in UEFI mode with GPT takes care of the problem.  The issue is that these units do not support UEFI (at least from what I can tell...)  Thanks in advance for any assistance that you can provide!

I was updating the BIOS for my M910x Tiny via system update, the program just started then suddenly some system notification popped up and my mouse wouldn't move, as the BIOS upgrade window under Windows 10 also seemed frozen. I know it was my fault that I didn't wait long enough but just pressed the power button to shut down the machine, so when I power it up again I can only hear repeatedly 2 short beeps and the system couldn't boot anymore. So is there any solution I can fix the BIOS? I've seen the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper method on other model, but not sure what is the correct procedure on M910x yet. Thanks for any help!

Hello All,I have just purchaced a ThinkCentre M710 Tower with the optional GeForce GT 730 upgrade for graphics. This video card produces no video even after having 2 technicians come out and replace 1) the motherboard and 2) the GeForce video card. I can get video from the onboard Intel graphics from both the VGA and DisplayPort connectors. Changing the BIOS to initate the PEG first makes no difference in video output except to remove the accessability of the BIOS from any port. The system is running Windows 10 PRO.Here are the options installed from Lenovo;ThinkCentre M710 TowerIntel Core i5-7400 3.0G 4CGT730 2GB D5 64b DP HP4GB DDR4 2400 UDIMMTW B250 210W 85%Windows 10 Pro 64Intel 3165+BT 1x1ac HPI was told that a reinstall of Windows 10 is in order? I would think that this should have been tested at the time of the build. 3 monitors have been used by the 2 technicians for testing.Anyone have any information on using PCIe graphics in place of Intel onboard in this unit?Thank you,Scott

There have been a few threads about the propreitary 14pin PSU connectors and that there's no aftermarket support for upgrades. But it's been a little while, and Lenovo (around the office, my staff are calling them "Le-No-No" now) hasn't change policy, or offered an upgrade.

We have just received several of these i7 PC's and they all have the useless 280w PSU's. Those are severely limiting in what video cards can be installed, as anything over 55w will knock the PSU over. That means, no decent cards. A Quadro 2000 is, at 51W, about as far as we can go.

My CDW rep has been working to find a solution for us, but without any success. So I'm bringing it to the community before I have to re-evaluate our desktop hardware choice.

Has anybody made either an adapter or a PSU that will work on the Lenovo 14-pin motherboards?

(Oh, and yes, I've read http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/A-M-and-Edge-Series-ThinkCentre/M92P-14pin-power-supply-connector/m-p/84... . No help there. Thought I'd post a clear question here in hopes that someone has started making adapters.)

A:ThinkCentre M92p Tower & SFF: power supply upgrade options (14-pin, PSU, front fan)

Hello,I have the same problem with this **bleep**ty power management. 280w with no option of an upgrade... What did they think when they built this? however I did some research and found this:http://www.moddiy.com/products/IBM-Lenovo-PSU-Main-Power-24%252dPin-to-14%252dPin-Adapter-Cable-%283... Did anyone try this yet? Can it be used safe on the system? And will it do the work that it should do?
