Yoga 2 Pro SD slot not working

Q: Yoga 2 Pro SD slot not working

Hi all, I have a Yoga 2 Pro with Windows 8.1 Pro and the SD card slot is not working. Reloaded the drivers, tried different SD cards and still can't get it to work. Nothing shows up in disk management, its like the card slot doesn't exist. Tried a bunch of things with Lenovo tech support, but no solution. Any ideas before I have to send it back to Lenovo and be down a laptop for 10 days? Thanks in advance for your help!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Uninstall drivers and instead of installing drivers from the Lenovo website, just reboot windows and let windows handle the installation. See if that helps. Also check device manager to make sure there are no warnings on that specific device. Also check the SD card..make sure it is not in the "Locked" position. The reader would not be able to read it if it is locked.

Hi all, I've just taken ownership of the ThinkPad Yoga 370 and suspect that the Micro SD slot is faulty.  Basically, the card gets sticker into the slot once pushed in and it'll take a long time to slowly pull out the card from the slot. Also, the notebook doesn't detect the card when it's in.  Im pretty sure I got the right side of the card into the slot.  Can anyone confirm if the slot is suppose to eject the card with a "spring" motion? Cause I don't have that, that's why it's sticker.

Hello, Is there a way to lock the Yoga 900 to a desk, for example? Since it does not have a Kensington slot, a traditional lock would not work. Any suggestions on how I can lock the computer? Support suggested using the following products, but I'm not sure if they will fit the hinge on the Yoga 900: http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-TechSafe-Locking-Laptops-GC16046/dp/B004W9BQAS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=... http://www.amazon.com/PNY-ThinkSafe-Laptop-Locking-P-TSUL1-RB/dp/B0093HNUSA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1...

That is a good question. Thanks for posting. I've been wondering about that myself.  I've used a Kensington cable lock for years on my ThinkPads, but haven't been able to with my Yogas. As I sit at my 900, I'm trying to visualize how those would work. Since I'm not a hardware person, I'll ask around, and will post back if I have any info to add. In the meantime perhaps someone who has a lock that fits will reply to help us out here.

I am waiting for my new Yoga 900. I read the so-called "full" SD Card slot is not 32mm deep as a standard SD Card. Can you confirm it is shorter? Is it 16mm deep like in the Yoga 2? Is there an adaptor for 128GB micro-SD that has the perfect size and been tried?

A standard SD card goes in only to 16mm, not the full 32mm depth.

Good day.

Have  look at this page of the PSREF site: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Think_Tablets_and_Convertibles/ThinkPad_Yoga_370

The exact MTM in your post is not shown in the table, but the site does distinguish between models with socketed vs soldered RAM.

Hope this helps a bit.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14 with a EM7455 WWAN broadband card in the M.2 slot.  I can not for sure locate the SIM card slot so I can put in broadband provider sim (like one from T-Mobile or AT&T).  Documentation shows it on the back opposite the fans with a pin hole to pop out a SIM tray.  There is no slot on back of the case. I took the cover off the botton of the Yoga 14, which is where the M.2 slot is located.  At the back about where there should be a SIM card tray, there is a 8 contact SIM socket labeled SIM1 on the motherboard.  I am assuming this the cellular SIM card socket, but it will not take a micro-sim card.  It is to loose to hold it.  It looks like it needs a sim tray.Anyone have any experience with a ThinkPad Yoga 14 sim card or have a suggestion?  Photos of motherboard and sim slot below.    Thank you, Gerry          ??                                                                                          &... For quite a long time I've been planning to buy the Yoga 720. However, I don't have money to buy anything but the base model. Even though only 8gb of ram doesn't bother me too much at the moment, I would like to upgrade eventually down the line. A sales representative has shown me the PSREF. Through checking there, I seem to find that the only models with an extra slot are the ones that come with 16gb of ram (8gb soldered and an extra slot filled with 8gb stick). Does that mean that the model: 80X7001WUS  has only 8gb soldered in without room for upgradeability?  Thanks for any information.

A:Does the yoga 720 have an extra ram slot on the base model?

Hello and welcome,

If you scroll down the page you linked and expand specifications you'll find a link to the base spec.  The way I read it they all have a RAM slot which may or may not be occupied depending on specific MT-M.

That said, I have no personal experience with this model.  This is based on what I read below.

I have a Yoga 710 Notebook. I want to put the standard SD Card from my deer camera into the SD card slot to look at the pictures. Is there any special instructions I have to do to be able to look at the pictures?

MOD: Edited to correct model

A:Inserting SD card into slot Lenovo Yoga 710

Welcomd to the Community

Would probably need to know more about the deer cam to be certain. So long as it stores images with popular formats (mp4, wmv, jpg, etc) and doesn't use some proprietary card formatting, it should work. Put the SD card in the 710. Windows will pop up a dialog asking what you want to do with the card. Windows Media Player or Photo Viewer or some such should be one of the selections. If you don't get the dialog, use Explorer (Windows Key + E) to navigate to the SD Card (Probably showing up with a drive letter, such as E: or some such). Double-clicking on a file should open it in an appropriate player.

If none of that works or Windows doesn't properly recognize the card, the deer cam probably uses proprietary storage technology. Come back here and we'll figure it out.

Today I tried installing an Intel 9560ngw Wireless-AC/Bluetooth 5.0 CNVi card in a friend's Lenovo Yoga 720 which was having WiFi range issues.  We discovered upon opening the laptop that the black antenna wire was not connected to his Yoga 720's Intel 8265ngw WiFi card, and this was causing the range issue, not a defective card.  However, we had the Intel 9560ngw CNVi card, and those cards aren't that expensive, so we decided to replace the 8265ngw with the 9560ngw anyway, since the laptop has a M.2:CNVio card slot.   After installing the 9560ngw card in the Yoga 720 we found that it would not show up in device manager, and no installation or edition of Intel drivers would get the card to work or be recognized.  We had to reinstall his 8265ngw card with bluetooth 4.2 (poo ). It appears the Yoga 720 has the CNVi slot but no CNVi compatibility.  Could be why it ships with a M.2 8265ngw wifi card.  Has anyone had success installing a CNVi WiFi card in a Lenovo Yoga 720?  Perhaps my friend had too old a Bios version?

I am trying to confirm my assumption that my AGP slot is bad.

I first became aware of my problem when I turned on my monitor to find a black display. As far as I know, I did not cause any physical damage to my computer (i.e. removing the card with the power on, scratching the card/slot, etc.). I tried rebooting the computer to find that the display was still black upon booting.

What I've tried:
- Different monitor
- Different AGP card
- New power supply
- Resetting CMOS

What worked:
- Using a PCI graphics card instead of a AGP card

This is obviously not the solution that I would like to implement. I suppose the next step would be to buy a new motherboard. My current motherboard is an ASUS A7A266 and my preferred graphics card is an ATI All-In-Wonder 7500 AGP. Thanks.

A:AGP slot not working?

AGP ports rarely die... Computer is most likely dead, its quite a bit on the age.

Try to reset the board by locating the BIOS jumper (Clear/reset CMOS) - Its a 3-pin jumper near the battery with 2 pins jumped. It should say CMOS or something simular. Switch the position for 5 seconds, then switched it back (The computer is off, but has AC plugged in) Then see if it'll power up. PS: If you cannot locate the jumper - then pop out the battery(looks like a large watch battery).

2) If above doesn't work.try another Power Supply (borrow one) - It doesn't need to fit the case, but you need to power up the board.

3) If that doesn't work, borrow a PCI video card.

If all 3 things don't work, its most likely dead.

If you build yourself - You can recycle the drives into a modern system for about $150 or so (AMD board = $50, dual core CPU = $50, 1GB RAM = $20, case + PSU since SONY is non-standard and very out of date= $75) = $195

Hi,

I have 2x 512MB of RAM on my XP machine. Recently I noticed quite a bit of slowdown, so I checked it out with Belarc Advisor and saw that only one of the slots was registering as having RAM in it.

I opend up the tower and swapped the sticks round to make sure it wasn't just a faulty stick, but it's definitely the slot.

I was wondering if one of them could have become disabled somehow? If so, how would I find this out and switch it back on? I'm hoping to avoid buying another motherboard or more RAM for the working slot so if anyone has any ideas, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks!

Last week I bought new Asus M4A78-HTPC/RC motherboard, because my old one stopped working. I installed the new one into computer but it isn't working as it is supposed to. I have problems with RAM. I own 4 * 2GB SAMSUNG DDR2 SDRAM M378T5663QZ3-CF7 memory modules.

When I install modules into A1, B1 and B2 socket everything works fine, but when I insert the fourth one into A2 socket Windows doesn't want to boot - I get BSOD, sometimes it says MEMORY MANAGEMENT problem and sometimes it doesn't show up nothing(unhandled exception).

I also tested memory using Memtest86+ bootable USB and with all four modules installed, it shows errors, however when there are only three(A2 module empty) it shows as if there is everything OK.

Then I tested what happens if there is only one memory module inserted into RAM sockets and I inserted it into A2 socket (the one that supposedly doesn't work) then I ran Memtest86+ and much to my surprise it worked. It even booted into Windows.

Oh, yes and one more thing. BIOS detects all memory modules (even when there are all four inserted) and shows correct RAM size.

Now I don't know what the problem is, I tested all the memory modules and they are fine so there must be something wrong with motherboard. Does anyone know what could it be and how to repair it?

The D2 card gets quite hot and because it is close to the edge of the MB, I feel it is a bit too much heat so close to critical pin connectors. Does anyone have any ideas as to why PCI slot 2 will work, but PCI slot 1 will not? Yes, these are regular PCI slots (Not express) and yes I know the D2 connection is older tech but the sound is incredible. I'm just looking for any suggestions as to how I get PCI slot 1 to work. Driver for the D2 successfully installed and the card does work - just not in the slot I need it to.

A:PCI slot not working on ASUS H97-Plus MB

Maybe some option in BIOS to enable/disable?

Hi, it?s my first time here , i have a really weird problem , i bought asus prime z390 A motherboard to build it with asus rog rtx 2070 oc 08g , i7 9700k , hyperx fury 16gb 3000 mhz ram , the issue that the graphic card is not working on primary slot (x16 mode) only works on third slot on board which is x4 mode ; i updated mobo bios , contacted asus support and tried all troubleshooting possible and no solution, finally they told me that it could be mobo issue , i tried the same build on a new mobo ( asus prime h370 plus ) and same result this new mobo has two slots the primary is x16 mode and the secondary is x4 mode it works only on the second one;after contacting asus support again they told me that it?s gpu faulty ; i changed gpu with same model new one !! Same issue ; finally yesterday i shipped a new gpu rtx 2080 dual oc , and same result on two motherboards , the gpu and all build on x4 mode is working fine without any issue but only that i am not getting the best performance , the only two parts that i didn?t change is cpu and ram but now i am pretty sure that it could be some bios settings to check it couldnt be hardware problem as i guess
