Disable mouse pointer and click buttons on Acer Laptop

Q: Disable mouse pointer and click buttons on Acer Laptop

Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to disable the mouse pointer and click buttons on an Acer Travelmate 529TXV. I checked the BIOS, but there is no setting in there that will allow one to disable it.

Preferred Solution: Disable mouse pointer and click buttons on Acer Laptop

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

wonderin' if anyone can help.
I'd like to be able to disable anyone changing the mouse cursor on our win2k systems. I'd like to be able to disable the mouse pointer tab in the mouse control panel or grey it out. I can't seem to see anything in the registry other than not showing the mouse/keyboard in the control panel. The trouble with this is it then takes away all the other tabs with the user might need.
Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,

I am using Windows XP media center version 2002 SP2.

Recently, I began to develop a weakness in my right hand that I think is mainly due to mouse use. I think it may be the beginning of repetitive strain injury (RSI). It is also interfering with my guitar playing because my right hand gets fatigued very quickly & seems to lose dexterity (almost like when you have been out in the cold and your hands seem to lose speed and dexterity but are fine once they warm up). My left hand does not seem to have any problems.

It seems to me that half of the problems with the mouse & RSI come from moving the wrist to bring the pointer to what you want to click instead of keeping the wrist straight and moving the elbow to bring the pointer to what you want to click. However, just the act of clicking the mouse seems to cause the other half of the problems, along with not having the forearm at a level elevation with the mouse.

It seems to me that if I can keep my wrist straight and use my elbow to move the mouse pointer to what I want to click, and then use a keyboard key to actually click what the mouse pointer is hovering over, then it would eliminate much or possibly all of the problems in my right hand.

I would like to be able to use the mouse with my right hand to locate the mouse pointer over whatever I wan to click, but then actually click using my left hand with the keyboard and/or a shortcut / hot-key. Ideally, I would be able to left or right click with th... Read more

I have run into a problem I haven't seen before on a HP desktop running Win 7 Ultimate x64. The users reported that when they open a window, ~30 instances of the window open at once. The error is intermittent, but since they shut down the PC after each use it may come and go with each boot.

I looked at the machine and it functioned fine after several reboots, but eventually I was able to see some strange results. I didn't see the multiple windows open, but I did have some input issues. The mouse pointer would jump all over the screen and applications would open that were never clicked. The right click did not function correctly. Sometimes the context menu would flash on and off and sometimes nothing. I tried an alternate mouse and using a different USB port with identical results. I have run virus scans, malware scans and a registry scan, but no dice.

Anyone have any ideas. I am stumped.

Hello, I would be very grateful for a solution to this problem.

My Acer 6920 has been working happily with Windows 7 64 bit for maybe a year or so. Recently I left it on top of the fridge in hibernate mode for a few days. Upon trying to start the computer Windows 7 progressed to ?windows is starting? logo then blue screened and turned off.

Since then any restart gives me two and only two options.

1. Launch startup repair ? selecting this option leads to a black screen with a mouse pointer - I left it overnight and it was still the same. I never get to see startup repair.

2. Start windows normally ? this leads to the blue screen.

I have tried using my windows 7 usb to boot into the repair options that are on the windows install disk, but after it says ?windows is starting? I am left staring gormlessly at another black screen with a mouse pointer.

I shall as a last resort take the laptop to the acer repair shop here, but would love to get it fixed myself. It is quite important that I rescue my work documents; they were last backed up a month ago.

But as it stands I cannot see how I could even format and reinstall windows 7. Nothing works.

Following the advice on this page I have now put Hiren's boot cd onto a bootable usb, and have seen the first signs of life from the laptop. The mini XP will not load up, but the Parted Magic program did load.

Parted Magic was able to read the files on the D drive partition, mainly music and movies but I did find ... Read more

Every step possible to start unbootable WIn7 is in the tutorial.

You must start at the top of the steps to disinfect the OS or it may not repair.

Try running Startup Repair from the installer (which is provided) or System Repair CD. Did you assure Win7 is marked Active as instructed?

If you take it to a shop without completing the steps then you have not done the work. You even have everything you need to either run Acer Factory Recovery or get the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 .

Start at Step 1 and work your way through every step in the actual order, not pick and choose.

Hi all

My mother in law has an acer aspire 5732Z, yesterday she was fiddling with the touch pad sensitivity and suddenly her screen went black. Each time she tries restarting, she gets the windows 7 startup screen, but just before getting to the log in screen, the screen goes black. The mouse pointer is still on the screen and she can hear that the computer is still on. But besides that, nothing can make it start up properly.

I have tried talking her through safe mode startup, but that didn't do anything. She has pulled out the battery and restarted, which does nothing either. What else can we try? This is less than 1 year old.

Thanks for any help

I have a brand new Latitude E7470 (Windows 10 Pro) which has some good and some (surprisingly) awful bits, but so far the most surprising and frustrating is that when I tap the touchpad - which acts as a left click - about 90% of the time the mouse pointer moves a few pixels - maybe 10? - before the click event is registered. This doesn't sound like much, but it makes the touchpad at best incredibly frustrating, and at worst unusable.
To clarify: I'm moving the mouse pointer using the touchpad (which works pretty well). I position the mouse pointer over a clickable item - a link in a web page, the "x" to close a tab, a button, etc. - and then use the single tap motion, which should register the same as the left mouse button below the touchpad. And it does register that left click, but the mouse pointer visibly moves several pixels - most often up, but occasionally left or right or diagonally. As a result, the click event either doesn't register, or more likely the pointer isn't over the clickable component anymore so it's like I clicked above or beside it.
I've spent hours experimenting with this, including going back and forth between the new E7470, my ~4 year old Precision M4700, and Macbook Air, just in case this is something weird about how I tap. No matter how carefully (and unnaturally) I click tap on the E7470, the pointer moves. On the other two laptops the pointer never moves when I tap, and simply registers the tap/click event where... A:how do u disable touch pad mouse click

hi yiiyyii,

there should be a setting in your mouse properties control panel. labeled "enable tap to click" (or something similar).

since you wish to disable the feature, I assume that you're "clicking" by accident. you can probably solve that problem by reducing the touchpad sensitivity (same control panel).

personally I can't do without that feature when using my laptop. I don't have the patience to move my finger over to the buttons

I would like to disable specific buttons on my laptop's keyboard (MSI EX610).
The issue: my keyboard got some liquid spilt in it and since then there is a fake wake button pressing 3-10 times per second, although I have no such button on my keyboard.
I have found the Windows and BIOS keycode for it with Passmark Keyboard Test, but wasn't able to disable it with any software I found so far, since all of them only show the available buttons.
Could someone please give me a link to a software that would do the trick or a registry hack?

Hey everyone. I received my sony vaio 15.5 eb series i3-370m laptop today. However, the left click on touchpad right clicks. Support told me its a hardware issue that cannot be fixed and that they can send someone over. Also, if i want to close the firefox window... pressing the left or right click works which is a problem with this touchpad. The scrolling of the touchpad however has no problem though. Would you guys suggest i sent this laptop back instead? If they send someone to come and repair it, they would have to open the laptop and i don't think that is good for the long run of Should i just request a new one instead?

I would assume i don't have to pay the extra $50 now correct? The battery life i notice is around 2 hours just web browsing. I am thinking if i should just return it and get a sager 5135 because i heard battery life is 3 hours and it offers 1080P. But i know that laptop does not look as good as a sony one. I will mainly play online poker with applications on it and browse and listen to music.

I just talked to support and did trouble shooting and installed a driver. What is funny now is that the left and right click buttons don't even work anymore. However, the left click and button button works if i click on those items on my taskbar such as internet explorer and windows explorer. But if i click it a 2nd time, a new explorer will show up. I cannot click on anything besides those 3 items on my taskbar with the left/right click now. ... Read more

Im using a sony vaio laptop with vista installed and recently the mouse pointer has been freezing every couple of seconds for 1-4 seconds or about that. I've updated and ran malwarebytes which found nothing and also ESET online scanner and house call by trend micro found nothing aswell.

Ive defragged the system and even checked the mouse pointer driver for updates of which there were none. I also ran ESET online scanner in safe mode with networking. Even though the scans are saying nothing it really seems like it could be a virus or malware. Also I am connected to a wired router which is connected to an internet provider box and a ps3.

Any help anyone can give would be fantastic!

I have a Gateway MX8738 laptop and I recently installed Windows 7 as an upgrade from Vista. After the install everything was fine for a day until I noticed that ALL PROGRAMS on the Start Menu was empty so I attempted to reboot to see if it would resolve the issue. It then went into a scan/repair mode and attempted to reboot after scanning and now it's stuck in the Black Screen. It never gets to a Windows logo or the login screen, it just freezes. It will boot up to the Windows 7 CD and to the System Recovery Options but none of these options are working. I even attempted to reinstall the 'upgrade' but it won't let me unless I'm in Windows. I DO NOT WANT TO DO A CLEAN INSTALL BECAUSE I HAVE TOO MUCH INFO TO LOSE.

A:Black Screen w/mouse pointer - Gateway Laptop

Use an Ubuntu Live CD to move your important stuff to another location, and then perform a clean install. Your data that was carried over from Vista is in C:\windows.old.

Have you tried accessing the command prompt from your CD? If you can, use the fixboot command. You should always perform a clean install because stability is more important than convienience. Most people will tell you that.

I am too clumsy for the tap-to-touch feature on my Compaq nx9420 laptop touch pad. It is far too sensitive for my abilities and I end up doing a lot of click-drags when Im just trying to move the cursor. Also I click out of windows I'm trying to work in when I'm really just trying to move the cursor.

Anyway when I got this laptop midmayish I found a way to turn off the tap to click function by disabling the setting somewhere in the control panel. A few weeks later I bought a microsoft mouse for bluetooth which installed its own drivers. Now my mouse settings window in the control panel is different, and I cant seem to find a way to adjust the touchpad settings, including disable tap to click. So either I forgot how to do it (in which case could somebody fill me in), or my new mouse software eliminated my ability to do it (in which case could somebody tell me how to get the disable feature back).

Thank you so much in advance to anybody who has a solution! My efficiency is destroyed with the tap function on. I need a way to turn it off!

Is there in Win XP a way of disabling the laptop mousepad?

If not, is there a software fix to do this?

Reason: when I type, I often accidentally touch the pad with annoying consequences.

I've not been successful in getting my HP Envy laptop (C8P48AV) Quad 15T-J000 to have right mouse click behavior. All of the other gestures seem to work. There doesn't seem to be any way to enable the feature in the Control Panel. I am using a workaround with an auxiliary mouse, but there are times I want to use only the HP as it is. I have tried tapping anong the bottom 20% of the pad, and no matter where I tap I get a left mouse indication. I want to be able to bring up the various menus that come up with the right mouse button. Can you help?

Hi, I've got the same problem with my Envy 6 1070 el and Win 7 as OS.I've tried to recover synaptics driver, to change all settings in the mouse panel, to reinstall win 7 but I have not been successful. Have you got win 7 too? because I noticed that with linux the issue disappears.
