Solved: can't clear cookies in Firefox... keeps logging me back into igoogle too.

Q: Solved: can't clear cookies in Firefox... keeps logging me back into igoogle too.

I noticed the other day that I was always being logged into my daughter's iGoogle page, even though I had logged her out and logged in under my account.

I would close the browser and then open it again and there it was back. I would log out and log back in under my account and it was fine until I restarted firefox my daugher's account was logged back in.

I have tried clearing my cache and all my cookies in firefox, but even though the box showing the cookies is empty, when I restart firefox they all come back! I have done this 5-6 times now and I am getting really frustrated.

PS: I do not have her password saved for her account and I also am being logged out of facebook even though I have it checked to 'remember me'. this is also new to me.

Preferred Solution: Solved: can't clear cookies in Firefox... keeps logging me back into igoogle too.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Solved: can't clear cookies in Firefox... keeps logging me back into igoogle too.

NM i found help elsewhere.

I changed the cookies.sqlit file name to cookies.old and it made a new file for me and is working like it should be now.

Recently, iGoogle themes stopped loading in Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome due to a MIME type issue with the theme CSS file.

Firefox's error console shows this error:

Error: The stylesheet http://www.google.com/ig/f/UO7LEA3RSb0/skins/beach/beach_10am_sprite_v2.css?hl=en&gl=us was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html", is not "text/css".
Source File: http://www.google.com/ig?hl=en&source=mpes
Line: 0

I'm not posting this here to get assistance but to raise the issue to see if others have experienced this as well and to provide a place where others can post comments, etc.

I first noticed this on my mom's computer and her "Beach" theme loaded just fine until the other day. I'm not sure what changed or when.

A Google search located this thread:

but that doesn't talk about iGoogle themes specifically.

Have you experienced this as well?

A:Solved: iGoogle themes not loading in Firefox or Chrome

Hi caityangel1,

Click on - View > Page Style > and make sure it is set for Basic Page Style, just in case!

Did you try reloading the pages a few times?

If nothing works, try clicking the mouse cursor somewhere in the top left of the screen and drag it down to see if it exposes any text, near the top on the right is a 'Change Theme from' option.

Just ran into a strange situation using Firefox 3.5.3 trying to signin to my online prescription web site. When I Iogin (as I've been doing for a long time) I get a message above the user name about cookies must be enabled. (See attachment 1). So I go to my FF Options and look at Privacy and see I am set to receive cookies. See attachment 2.

Am I missing something here. Thought maybe something related to my firewall (Outpost) since its kinda new, I opened IE and signed in without a hitch.

Any thoughts or ideas much appreciated.

A:Solved: Firefox Cookies

I looked at the cookies already captured by FF for Medco. There are 6 of them, one of which is to be sent for encrypted site only (the site is encrypted) and expires in Sept 2029. All the others expire at the end of the session. See attachment.

BTW... no problems using FF with any other encrypted sites.

I use Firefox 3.5 with excellent results. The browser is a miracle to all users and relegates IE to a cosy grave.

NOW ! The net is full of search items from users pleading in desperation for a means of deleting the universally unpopular iGoogle Home Page Tab on the left side of the page.

Solutions are infinite, some from punters and many from "experts" with a conclusion that this obnoxious tab CANNOT be deleted. It was obviously inserted by some irresponsible idiot in the Google organisation to plague the butt off all their users.

WELL chums, this piece of crap CAN be removed easily in a few seconds. Never mind the whole batch of suggestions you may read on the net - DO THIS and get rid of this ridiculous piece of irresponsible crap for ever.

Search for "iGoogle Tab Remover", version 1.9.5 by David Rubin in the authentic Add-ons for Firefox. Download it - it only takes a few seconds, install this add-on and activate.

BINGO ! The Home Tab scourge of iGoogle is GONE for ever.

All the countless hundreds of pleading users and worthless solutions that come up on the net relating to this brainless incursion into customers freedom of choice are rendered a waste of net space.

Job done in seconds.

So I don't know if it's

A. An issue with Firefox
B. An issue with Windows 8
C. An issue with my new laptop.

Out of 3 computers I regularly use, 2 on a daily basis and 1 on a weekly basis, this is the only computer that has issues where I have to clear my cache and cookies ATLEAST once per day. Otherwise certain websites don't fully load.
For example, I went to Hotmail.com just now, and it loaded a white page until I cleared my cache and cookies and it finally loaded properly.
Other websites like Gamefaqs will load, however everything will be a jumbled up mess, and no images/banners will have loaded properly.

Clearing my cache and cookies for the last hour always fixes it. Regardless of whether I have been to that website in the last hour or any website in the last hour.

Sometimes I have to clear my cache and cookies every 10 minutes, sometimes I only have to do it once per hour.
However I have yet to go 2 hours without having to clear my cache and cookies atleast once.

I can still return this computer if need be (though they'll give me a hassle for it). But this is something I would expect to be a software issue. Only I have no idea how to fix it :/

Also no I have not tried other browsers yet. I keep meaning to, but this is a laptop I use mostly at work so I haven't gotten around to it. Firefox is the only browser I've used as of yet.

Thanks in advance guys!

This just started out of nowhere on my XP Home laptop, but I also saw it on a friends desktop machine (also running XP Home). My comp has been running just fine for a long time and this happened just this evening when I tried to log onto my gmail.

When I enable cookies by selecting "Use custom settings for history" (see 1st screenshot) it will not stay as set. When I close the Options window and reopen it the drop down menu has reset itself back to "Remember History" (see 2nd screenshot). I've cleared the cache and cookies with no joy.

I'm using FF v14. My friends desktop is using FF v 3.6. They exhibit the same behavior.

EDIT.. Just checked FF in Safe Mode and it does the same.

EDIT 2... I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out just what is going on. Although the setting reverts to the "Remember history" as previously stated, I find that cookies are being accepted by FF and operations are normal....

A:Solved: Enabling Cookies in Firefox

If you check the "Clear history when Firefox closes" box, the custom settings will stay open and the advanced Settings button will go active.
If it's not checked, then it's assumed you want to remember everything and defaults to the Remember History. Everything on that page still works and will be the same the next time you open it up with the custom setting.
You can uncheck everything in the Advanced Settings if you don't actually want to clear anything.
It's just a weirdness in the way it displays.

I'm using Firefox 26.0. I have all the correct settings to keep cookies to a minimum. I have it set not to allow 3rd party cookies. I have it set to delete history when I close the browser. I delete temporary files from the computer. I have 3 different anti-spyware programs and 3 registry cleaners I use to check on things though I only use them to delete what I'm sure is safe to delete. However, I keep turning up hundreds of tracking cookies when using all of those programs. I attempted several times to delete those tracking cookies by going into Options & Privacy. I tried deleting them one by one and some of them won't delete. I tried deleting them all at once and that doesn't work. I tried deleting them with the setting not to allow cookies and the setting to allow cookies. Nothing works to get rid of them totally. I've searched the net for answers on various sites but haven't found anything I don't already know about. I'm really at a lost on this one!

A:[SOLVED] Firefox Doesn't Get Rid Of My Tracking Cookies

From Firefox:

Disabling third-party cookies in Firefox can stop some types of tracking by advertisers, but not all.
Some websites (for instance, Microsoft's Hotmail, MSN, and Windows Live Mail webmail) use third-party cookies for purposes that are not necessarily privacy concerns, and disabling third-party cookies may cause problems with those sites.

Most websites which you login for, will use session cookies to keep track of your personal settings for that particular login session.

Hi all, has anyone found a way of transferring/importing all of the cookies in Firefox from one hard drive to another please? Or if it's any easier, from one pc on the network to another pc on the network?

Any help much appreciated.

A:Solved: Importing Firefox Cookies from one hard drive to another

If you can locate the profile folder/directory on the particular OS you run, it may or may not be a snap.

If you run Linux, then the profile folder is located in your home directory under the pathname: ~/.mozilla/firefox/<profilename.default> and the cookies are located in the cookie.txt file.

The following link How To Manage Profiles indicates where to find the profile folder on your corresponding OS. You should then be able to find a similarly named cookie file which then will be easy to copy the file and compress with zip or better yet bzip2 and then transport it to where you want. Shut down FF before you replace the file on your other system, the launch FF and look to see that you have the cookies you expect. You might want to save your existing cookies in another location if you ever want to replace them back into their original pristine state.

A:Not clear on Back Web Lite

"BackWeb started life as push technology software which enabled you to subscribe to various information channels of your choice so that your selected information channels would pop up on your screen with the latest world news, entertainment news, etc…, whatever you might have chosen You can configure the original BackWeb to download the news for later viewing, to display the news as desktop background, ticker, or popup window.

This did not take off as well as expected and, crucially, it was also not paying for itself. As a result BackWeb quickly went into other markets, two of them significant ones. (1) Advertising adware where websites, ISPs, or software manufacturers include BackWeb on their site, in their ISP software, or in their software and, whenever you connect to the Internet, BackWeb also connects to retrieve advertisements which are then displayed on your screen or in your browser. (2) BackWeb is also routinely installed on new PCs by specific computer manufacturers with the aim being that BackWeb will automatically check for vital updates to the PC’s setup whenever the end-user connects to the web. Such manufacturers include Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, LogiTech, Kodak, although some or all of these may have stopped this practice at the time of writing of this entry (April 2002).

Recommendation :

Are you talking about Firefox 3? If so, you may be seeing some of your own bookmarks being suggested by Firefox as you start to type in a URL. Look through the posts in this particular forum for the last few days. You should find a thread on how to make the new Address bar behave like the old Firefox 2 version.

FWiW, I really hated that so called smart feature as well and also did not want any URL history or any other URLs other than for the currently open page to show in the address bar. I found information on changing a single setting (set browser.urlbar.maxRichResults to -1) using about:config to give me what I wanted.

Do any other browsers have this same issue? If not, then you should submit a bug report to the support team for the browser you're using.

I prefer Firefox to IE but it is not as sharp & clear and as easy to read as is IE. Any ideas as to how to embolden the print or to otherwise make it more enjoyable to read?

Hello all,

I'm cleaning my PC, defrag, clearing temp files, etc... On Firefox I want to completely remove all cookies and history.

Even though I set it to do so, see pic below, as soon as I go to a site that requires a username and password and enter the first letter it adds the rest or the username, even the password.

Whats the easiest way to clean everything out.

A:Firefox 3.6.13 clear history

Ticking site preferences will clear out things like cookie settings, etc but your saved username and passwords will remain, until you delete them. (I'm glad that clear history doesn't wipe out the saved user names though, that'd be such a hassle having to re-enter everything.)

Clearing user names and passwords: Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords > Remove all

Edit: You probably just delete the firefox profile if you want that a clean wipe done

Hey all,I had that nasty virus with firefox redirecting to other websites, particularly when using google search. Looks like there are a few active threads on this even now. This was actually the *last* vestige of a virus I thought I had completely removed. I'd appreciate if someone glanced at my combofix log below and let me know if there's anything suspicious, as this is the first time I've used combofix. The redirecting issue appears to be fixed, but I haven't surfed too much yet.STEPS ALREADY TAKEN. I'm pretty good with this stuff usually...[acquired virus/malware yesterday approximately 1:30pm cst. Still don't remember clicking a link / installing / downloading something I shouldnt..]1. HijackThis, removed 3-4 foreign entries.2. mconfig-->startup, removed foreign entries.3. Downloaded rkill, ran it.4. Downloaded and ran MBAM, restarted in safe mode, ran MBAM again. 0 problems on the 2nd run. 5. Had firefox redirecting issue (only remaining symptom). Tried to download combofix. Was unable to do so; turned out McAfee was preventing me from downloading ANY files. In fact, I think half the symptoms were from McAee.. idiotic.6. Disabled all McAfee functions, ran combofix. Instructions said if you don't know what you're doing, post! So here I am.7. Only suspicious thing on there is that seupd.exe ; uploaded to VirusTotal to check, but frankly don't understand the output. I think it means some programs think this file is a virus? Anal... I am pretty close to ripping all my hair out. My cache in firefox will not clear, no matter what I do.

I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled it, after trying to do the tools way of clearing it. I can't find any other answers on what to do to make the damn thing clear.

I am positive it is not, because I'm doing some web developing stuff and I deleted a banner from my photo hosting site, and its showing up as the correct image in IE, Chrome, and half the time in Opera. At this point I don't care about it only working half the time in Opera, FF is my browser of choice and it will not update in it.

I'm using Firefox 3.0.13, Windows Vista Home Basic, and it didnt work before I put my addons back on, NoScript and WebNotifier.

Could someone please help me? I have never had this problem before.

A:Firefox cache will not clear

not sure if it will work but have you tried the FF clear cache addon?

So, getting bored with my current theme, I wanted to change it up. Changed my log in screen, desktop wallpaper, and taskbar color. First problem came in when I went restarted my computer to save some other changes to the system, but upon logging back in, the wallpaper went from being set on "Fill" to "Stretch". This change is undone as shown in the first screenshot. Second thing to really bother me is when I try to change my Windows account icon to a picture I have saved; I try to click on "Browse for more pictures...", but the link doesn't respond at all. I've restarted several times, but to no avail. Anyone have any idea/have any fixes for these issues?

Thanks in advance.

A:Need help with changes not saving after logging back in

My own personal experience with this has shown the best thing to do is usually to just wipe all the temp and window settings from the machine (along with thumbnails) and start from scratch.
This can be done pretty easily using something like ccleaner's basic clean mode (I don't suggest using the included registry scanner though)

You can also go into folder options, and system settings and try resetting all those to defaults to see if the changes begin saving after that.

Is there any way, that when I disconnect from a RDC, that the computer I connected to can log back in, without me physically having to do it on that machine? I need to be able to log in back in either remotely, or automatically, back to where it was before I connected. It's no use to me sitting at the login screen.

Security is not an issue, these are personal computers in the home. I don't use login passwords since I'm usually the only one that uses them.

Hello, I've got a problem. I downloaded the Mac OS X cursors and set them. But sometimes when I log on to Windows it changes back to the Windows Aero cursor and I have to change it manually. The strange thing is, this doesn't happen always, just sometimes. Any ideas?
