Installing second monitor on HP Envy All-in-one Touch Screen...

Q: Installing second monitor on HP Envy All-in-one Touch Screen...

Does anyone have instructions on Installing a second monitor on a HP Envy All-in-one Touch Screen PC? I tried setting up an old HP w2558hc monitor(not touch screen), but I had many issues with it extending across. The second monitor appears to be incompatible with the Touch Screen Software as well as the video card. I encountered issues with mouse and keyboard. Disconnected second monitor and everything worked fine. It doesn't appear that the All-in-One Desktop Touch Screen Desktops sofware will support a second monitor.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, It is an AIO (All-In-One) class machine. Well, all in one means all in one therefore designers may think people will use those machines as all-in-one or stand-alone units. But what is your AIO ? Please check its label at the back. Regards.

Hi, I've recently formatted my Laptop HP Envy m7-n101dx (touch) and installed Win7  Ultimate (64 bit).  I have downloaded all drivers available on HP website and installed on my laptop.  There is only one unknown device left (acpi\msft010), and I'm unable to to find the correct driver.  My problem is I'm unable to use the touch screen of the laptop, I've googling and found that is there must be a problem with with the Human Interface Device, but when I've checked the Device Manager no Human Interface Device is on the list.  Please could anyone help me out.  Thanks in advance

Hello @JeffJadoo, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the Touch Screen, and wanted to assist you! Did the notebook originally ship with Windows 10?  How did you go about formatting the notebook, and installing Windows 7?  You may be able to use the Recovery Manager to restore the drivers, however, based on how you installed Windows, the Recovery Partition may already be removed.  You can also try reviewing the following document, to see if the information helps: HP Notebook PCs - Touch Screen Issues (Windows 8) Please post back with the results.  It is possible that the Touch Screen may not be supported for Windows 7 on that particular notebook. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

Well, it was bound to happen. After 20 plus years in corporate tech support, unpacking, configuring, and shipping laptops all over the world for the first time I cracked a laptop screen. Unfortunately, this laptop screen was attached to my personal HP Envy Touch Smart 15 Notebook PC.

I have always believed that ?stuff happens?. We live by the luck of the draw. When it?s time it is time. You never know. When I picked up my laptop one morning last week on the way to an offsite there was no mistaking that muffled pop of a cracked screen. Stuff happens.

My screen still worked but no longer with touch screen functionality and I immediately jump on the web to determine the cost of and the degree of difficulty to replace the broken screen. In this site and others, I was surprised by the number of Envy owners who?s broken screen story mirrored my own and whose uploaded photos look uncomfortably familiar.

In almost every uploaded image the impact area was nearly identical, roughly 1.5 cm from the top bevel and nearly perfectly in line with the center of the touchpad.

Many generations of the Envy are designed with a Touchpad that sits in a shallow trough. That trough, the width of the Touchpad, extends out and forms a depression along the outer edge of the laptop.  When closed, the top or lid, with the fragile display, is supported by the stiffer bottom ?half? of the laptop. But a depression on the edge of the keyboard half of the la... Read more

If anyone is thinking of buying an HP Envy all in one touch screen computer then DON'T do it! I bought one less than 9 months ago. The touchscreen failed and rendered the whole computer inoperable. It took several hours on the phone to get them to agree to take it in for repair. After three weeks they claimed to have repaired it and sent it back. They changed all the settings and locked them so I could not put the settings back to how they were. I don't like working on a black screen with white writing!! It took another couple of hours on the phone to get them to fix it. Now less than two months later the exact same problem with the touchscreen has arisen again. It has taken two days to get them to agree to take it back in for repair. They cannot collect it until next Thursday. It will take another two weeks after that before it's repaired and returned to me. I am really really disappointed with this machine and warranty service especially so as it was very expensive!

I literally have had this laptop for 2 days. I disregarded this the first day but now on day 2 my screen goes crazy. It looks like a child is going crazy messing with the touch screen and opening things and zooming in while I'm watching netflix or anything. I have never seen a laptop with a touch screen do this before. There are random dots popping up also. I calibrated it and updated everything and it still does this. The lock screen with even shake and when I try to type my password it types then erases it then the touch type pops up. It takes me 5 minutes to unlock the computer when ut should only take 5 seconds. This is driving me crazy. Does anyone know what is going on? Or am I the only one who has this problem...

After a windows auto update my touchscreen no longer responds. I think it is a driver issue. My windows is INSISTING that the best driver is this generic driver from 2006. The display also shows up in the wrong place in the device manager. It's not in the HID list. I'm also having issues with the wireless since an update. It, for lack of a better term, stutters. Other devices will connect just fine and stay connected. But this laptop will drop the connection or simply not 'see' the network. Any help is appreciated.

I have an issue that appears lots of other people have, the touch screen on my Envy all-in-one keeps thinking that it's being touched when it's not. I've tried cleaning the screen, updating drivers, turning off the overhead flourescent lights (someone else reported that this was causing issues), and disabling the HID driver (HID-compliant touch scren). Nothing has resolved the issue. When I disable the driver, sometime within the same day, or within a couple of days, it re-enables itself. I've even tried uninstalling the driver and somehow it gets reinstalled. This computer is used by the receptioninst of a busy clinic. Once the screen starts bouncing around the computer becomes completely unusable, which makes it impossible to schedule appointments or process payments. I'm no longer interested in fixing the issue, I just want to disable the touch screen completely and never have it re-enabled. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

A:HP Envy Log In with Touch Screen Numeric Keypad PIN

I think I got a similiar problem with my HP Spectre x360 13-4132ng, Windows 10 64-bit.The login with touchscreen and PIN is possible but sometimes (often), when I click on the input box for the PIN on the login screen, the PIN-keyboard appears for a second but immediately disappears again. So I start the laptop and move my finger upwards on the touchscreen (so that the users are shown). Then, I am able to enter my PIN with the keyboard. But the problem is that it takes about 10 seconds (5 to 20) to get the on-screen keyboard appear. I tap on the input box with my finger, so that the on-screen keyboard (with numbers only) appears, but then, half a second later, the on-screen keyboard disappears again. After trying this several times (tapping the input box 3 to 10 times), the on-screen keyboard finally remains displayed.

Hello, I just got my new laptop yesterday. One thing that I noticed immediately is that the screen has faint streaks / bands vertically. I was able to take a pic of it below. Look at the wording "hoose your picture" and notice the purple-ish band that goes vertically above the letters "ur" on the word "your" .Also if you look at the middle area between the two black lines, to the right of the word "Picture", you can see alternating faint bands. Display driver is up-to-date. Help?

Thank you for any help on this, as I am stumped. I was given an Envy x360 touch screen laptop from a friend who claims the sreen cracked on its own, and the touch functionality was thrown off. I never did a touch screen laptop, but I have done plenty of digitizers so I thought it would nto be a big deal. Initially I noticed that the touch screen was somewhat responsive, but BARELY. You could touch it, and it may or may not register somewhere else on the screen. Experience showed me that even if a digitizer is cracked, it can often maintain its functionality, especially if there is one clean crack, so I got suspicious out of the gate. Nevertheless, the digitizer came, and I put it in, looks brand new, but the touch was not there. I ran the erase block diag test, and when I put my finger all over the screen, blocks from other parts of the screen were being erased. Over a couple minutes, I got it down to like 10 blocks, but never could complete it. The drag and drop test was a complete lost cause. I read about issues when upgrading Windows that you could lose the touch, but this is in bios so I'm not assuming that could be an issue. So the screen was fixed, but that same lack of functionality was there. So I ordered a control board, the little board that sits on the edge of the monitor where to plug in the touch screen ribbons, I just put that in, no change. I have made sure that the ribbons are going in as far as possible, a number of times already. Any... Read more

Last week (after a Windows update?) my Envy touch screen stopped working. I've read the instructions to uninstall / reinstall the drivers; however, in my list of "Human Interface Drivers" there are no drivers related to the touch screen (the only two are HID-compliant wireless radio and wireless button driver, nothing else). So my question - where do I go to FIND and INSTALL the correct driver for the touch screen? I assume that the missing drivers are the problem.  Searching for my laptop model and going to the available drivers, there is nothing there for a touch screen (?). I also tried to perform the UEFI Hardware Diagnostics tests to detect problems with the touch screen hardware -- looking under "Component Tests" there isn't even an entry for "Touch Screen". Help! I don't know how it got cracked, I put it in my padded PC backpack and set it in the back of my car, with nothing on top of it, and when I opened it up it had several cracks in the display radiating from one of the microphone holes (at least I assume it those are microphone holes) in the top of the glass. If you purchased accidental damage protection plan, then this would be covered as a part of this plan. This is not covered as a part of standard warranty. You can go to Manuals section and download the Maintenance and Service Guide which has the part number and the procedure to replace the screen: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Home.jsp?prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=5354982

Hi,My Envy 23 Smart Touch recently refused to start.  I search and did the recomended items to try and get it going again, such as:Diconnect all devices, disconnect power, hold power button for 5 sec, power on with F10 key, etc...  have performed this numerous times. No luck.  I don't see the BIOS.  There is power as the hard drive light does do a short light, and the DVD drive does make an initial sound.  Even tried a USN keyboard to see if that would help. I have even reset my CMOS with the jumper pins, checked the battery, unplug/plug hard drive and other cords that attach to the motherboard.  Have reseated the RAM - tried to also boot with just one chip in. Hard drive appears to be ok as I was able to browse its contects when I removed it and attached it to my smart TV (Partitions and folders). Still, no response to the PC other than the quick LED HD light coming on and the quick LED light on the DVD drive -screen remains blank.  This PC is just now 3 years old. Anything else to try? Thanks in advance.Jim

the lcd backlight on my envy k204na appears to have failed......4 months out of warrenty! im not confident seperating the digitiser from the lcd panel and the cost of the complete unit is ridiculous, can i use a standard lcd screen, a third of the cost, to replace the existing screen? if so what is the part number i need. any advice greatly appreciated footnote: dont buy a touch unless you are absolutley sure you are going to use it.......or your loaded and can afford repairs/replacement!

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc of or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver.

The laptop: HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC (15-j173cl)Windows 8.1 Pro The problem: I use an external monitor, so my laptop is usually shut.  Randomly, my touch screen THINKS something is touching it, which disrupts whatever I'm doing.  I would like to disable the touch screen completely, as I do not use it at all. I thought maybe the latch wasn't closing properly, but the screen resolution changes when I shut the laptop, so it KNOWS it's closed and switches to the proper resolution for my external monitor, but it DOES NOT disactivate the touch screen, and some dirt or something is touching it, changing where my mouse is pointed, where I am typing, etc. I have tried cleaning the screen and keyboard with compressed air. The problem happens randomly; sometimes when I CAD for the day, sometimes after hours of working.

My ENVY m6-AQ003 x360 touch screen function clicks itself. It clicks really fast in a straight vertical line. I havn't used it in a couple days so when I turned it on and it started clicking my first thought was the mouse was acting up or the touch pad. so I unplugged the mouse and restarted the computer. It continued to do it after the restart so I tried to turn off the touchpad. But the screen kept clicking before I could. Although it has stopped after i played around with it. It seems to keep doing it from time to time a few clicks. I know it is the touch screen function after I realized that the touch screen makes circles where you click and the mouse and touch pad don't. I hope there is a quick fix so I dont' have this problem when I travel in a few days.

hello, my computer had a Windows update today, and now the touchscreen (which was fully functional before the update) is not working.  it is not the screen, as this happened once before to me and I did a system restore to fix it.  I tried a system restor this time, didn't work.  I looked in the Device Manager, and there IS NO DRIVER for my touchscreen.  how do I reinstall, it is NOT listed in the driver list on the HP website for my product.  help! Ivan

Does anyone here use a touch screen monitor for image editing or 3D stuff?

I know you can use a graphics tablet, but I've never got the hang of using those.

Just wondering, if anyone does use a touch screen monitor, what one do you use or could you recommend a good one.

Cheers

Is it possible to retrofit an IPS touchscreen panel into an x250 laptop? I have bought a new touch display and although the display works, touch does not. The laptop did not originally come with a touch. There are lots of threads on the topic...some say yes and some just don't answer.  The shop says it is also possible and just requires a firmware update.  (which i can't find anywhere)Any help would much appreciated. L.

Hi all

Just wondered if anyone knows if the duel monitor set up would work if one of the monitors was a touch screen monitor and if not why not.

Getting a 22+ inch touch screen is on my list of things to get, but they are very pricey and would like to keep my two monitor set up, but don't want to have to pay out for two touch screens when the time comes, if that is the only way it will work, if at all.

If anyone knows about if a touch screen can be part of a duel set up this info would be much appreciated.

I hope everyones Christmas time and the start of this calander New Year has been a blast.

Cheers

Serena

A:Duel Monitor set up with touch screen?

Shouldn't be a problem.
The monitor would set up like any other monitor.
The touch screen is actually a seperate device with it's
own cable and connects like another input device,
like a mouse.
Only the touch screen will have touch functionallity of course.
