Internet hijacker isearch.fanastigames and loss of desktop icons and apps.

Q: Internet hijacker isearch.fanastigames and loss of desktop icons and apps.

Hi folks,
When I booted up my computer this morning, more than half of my desktop icons were missing, the sound didn't work, many apps weren't available (like Windows Media Player), and startup items were missing from the task bar.  A message balloon popped up in the task bar area telling me that spybot had blocked an attempt to add a toolbar.    In addition, my homepage was changed to isearch.fantastigames...but I was able to change it to something else and it appeared to stick.  I looked for toolbar addons and didn't see any unusual ones, but I noted that the default web search was for the fantastigames and the live search was something else.  I removed the live search option but it won't let me remove the web search.  I am able to use my AVG search and it works for the most part, but I have to watch that the isearch.fantastigames....doesn't pop up and take over.  I couldn't restore back to an earlier date either, although I attempted twice to go back to a time I knew it worked.  It went through the process but told me it was incomplete and no files were changed.  I also looked in the add/remove files but didn't see anything that didn't belong.

I have run a full antivirus scan with AVG and also Malwarebytes (5 hrs. later).  I don't appear to have any malicious issues or viruses, and I am using Windows XP.  I ran the RKill and it found no issues (however it did terminate two processes in the windows system and allowed me permission to edit my host files).  I deleted a startup file that had no title (found with msconfig).  Initially it said I didn't have permission to make the change, but after a restart the file no longer showed up, and the sound came back.  I also ran unhide.exe hoping the files that were hidden would show up.  It told me there was no temp\smtmp folder.   I've read and researched and am now stuck.  Is there someone who can help me figure out what the heck is going on so I can fix this crazy issue.  It acts like a virus or malware, but it's hidden.  I would truly appreciate any help you can provide.  Thank you for your time.

Preferred Solution: Internet hijacker isearch.fanastigames and loss of desktop icons and apps.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I don't know if I've picked up a virus or have an XP problem due to the following recent events. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated, as I haven't a clue what to do about the loss of desktop icons and use of my computer.

1. While on the Internet, a popup appeared and I tried to close it. Suddenly, Adobe opened (strange....as I wasn't trying to open a pdf) so I closed Adobe.

2. A warning icon appeared in the lower right corner of the taskbar telling me my computer was at risk and it wouldn't go away. Another popup window appeared that looked like a scam and was advising me to purchase its antivirus software and asked for my personal info. (I DID NOT!!!!!)

3. The computer was acting slow and I wanted to get rid of the popup so I restarted and received the blue screen/error message below: (I have not recently installed any new hardware or software.)

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
*** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0xE1EF3000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xEF163A9D)
Beginning dump of physical memory.
Dumping physical memory to disk: (goes to #99 and computer restarts)

4. Now, in normal mode, no desktop icons appear.

5. In safe mode, I ran Free AVG 8.0 (it did not run the same as in normal mode) and got this report:

AVG 8.0 Anti-Virus command line scanner

Hi,

As the post title suggests, I am having trouble with the modern apps and connectivity. It feels like half my computer will connect to the internet, and the other half won't. Desktop apps like Chrome, Steam, Outlook, iTunes etc. all connect to the internet fine, but any of the Windows apps like Xbox, Store and (most frustratingly) Settings will not connect.

In my network and sharing centre in the control panel it says 'You are not connected to any networks' - but in the system tray, and in the settings app it shows me as connected to my home wi-fi. I am on a desktop, and using a USB wireless adapter. I don't think the adapter is the problem as I have tried it on another desktop in our house on Windows 10 and it worked fine. Curiously also, when I click 'Adapter settings' in the control panel, it shows the wifi connection.

I've tried updating the drivers for the wireless adapter, both through the Windows update and adapter website but to no avail (and as I mentioned, it seems the adapter works fine elsewhere). I've updated manually to the latest Windows 10 Pro build, i've done a DNS flush, I've tried disabling firewalls and anti-virus, I've tried disabling startup apps, I've done a clean install of Windows 10 and still am unable to fix the issue.

If anyone has any ideas that might help that would be great. I'm happy to provide any more information if people need it.

Thanks very much.

A:Modern apps not connecting to internet, desktop apps work fine.

Is your DNS client service running on your system .

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.In the list of services, click DNS Client.Make sure that the Status column displays Started and that the Startup Type column displays Automatic. If the service is not set to Started or if the startup type for the DNS Client service is not set to Automatic, follow these steps:
Right-click DNS Client, and then click Properties. In the DNS Client Properties dialog box, click the General tab, and then click Automatic in the Startup type list.Click Start, click Apply, and then click OK.

HelloToday I've had the misfortune of downloading a file which instead infected me with this browser hijacker isearch.claro-search.com that automatically makes my homepage look like this:I've been trying all day to remove it but nothing works. First I went in add/remove programs, uninstalled isearch.claro-search.com and other of its components easily. I re-opened firefox and there it was again. I ran a (quick) Norton scan but it caught nothing. I searched on google for tutorials on how to remove it but so many suggest to play around with regedit and although I have some basic computer knowledge, I don't feel confident enough to toy with anything from regedit. So instead I downloaded and ran Kaspersky tdsskiller but it found nothing useful. I then downloaded Spyware Doctor and ran a quick scan on safe mode with networking and it easily found isearch.claro-search.com along with other infections (which I suspect are all linked to this hijacker because I didn't have any computer problems before today). So I purchased Spyware Doctor in order to fully fix the infections and it successfully quarantined them. I thought I was done but to my disappointment, I re-open firefox and there it is again. I don't know what to do anymore. Quite frankly I'm desperate and out of ideas to fix this. I sincerely hope something can be done to remove this nasty hijacker. A big thank you in advance to anyone willing to help. p.s. I use Windows Vista.

Hi, I'm writing on the behalf of my brother, who's (desktop) PC is in the room as I write this on my laptop. We usually share our internet connection (I am still using it), but he is no longer able to connect.

In the past, he has gotten a "A network cable has been unplugged" message several times in seemingly random intervals, restarting his PC would usually fix this.

However yesterday he got a message: "This connection has limited or no connectivity" and his game (AlienSwarm at the time (through steam)) stalled out and he decided to restart the PC yet again, only this time after the reboot, he not only wasn't reconnected to the internet, he also couldn't find the Local Area Connection icon(s) in his Network Connections window, the only thing there is a "1394 Connection" which we have no clue about.

I'm gonna add my skype here if any helpful people need more info on this :P Feel free to add jaan.stern

Also I put this in the XP forum, because I wouldn't know which Network support subforum to use!
Thanks!

A:[SOLVED] Loss of internet connection, along with missing icons in Internet Connection

1394 Connection = firewire.

Start from 'go', ie, in Device Manager, uninstall his network adapter then reboot and set up a NEW network connection.

BTW - did he have any ports 'forwarded' etc?

I have a windows 8.1, Intel Celeron CPU J1800, 4GB ram, 64-bit. Long story short: My desktop and all files there are missing, cannot open desktop folder through a file explorer. When in a file explorer when i right click it freezes and often crashes "explorer.exe" and google chrome wont open, neither will firefox. but IE will.

What i have done to solve this problem:
Unlock hidden admin account and ran Malwarebytes. Nothing out of the ordinary came up after the scan. Ran CCleaner, cleared that out, nothing out of the ordinary. Both did not fix the problem. Opened a elevated comandprompt ran "sfc /scannow" nothing was broken, so it fixed nothing. Ran Microsoft Safety Scanner, didnt work. Did a Windows "Refresh" where it uninstalls everything back to factory applications, but leaves user created files untouched. and still nothing.
Ive got no other ideas except to reinstall windows which i dont want to do.

im pretty tech savy so please have me post logs and other txt files to help determine the problem.

A:Access internet from desktop but not from Metro Apps

From what I've read about this problem running the system file corruption scan in an elevated command prompt > sfc/scannow followed by a reboot which does the repair.

Then run the DISM scan to fix the component store corruption > Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth then reboot and run the sfc/scannow again to make sure everything is fixed.

This should take care of the store going online problem.

Please read in detail. Help needed.

2 Days ago I downloaded from CNet 2 programs (Mp4 to Mp3 Free File Converter) and (Wav to Mp3 Free File Converter) ...
One of them slipped passed and installed several things (first flooded my desktop with multiple icons (facebook, gmail, espn, etc etc) The other installed something called "bikiland" ? As well as PC Optimizer Pro...

Naturally I uninstalled the "PC Optimizer Pro" through standard windows 7 add remove programs...
Next boot up... I was faced with a black screen and a pop up in the corner for "Optimizer Pro" of course stating it found random huge number of problems and to click to sign up and pay for the product...
I closed it's pop up, and figured out I could open Task manager and verified that Explorer.exe actually is running...
This is placing a black screen over my icons and start bar... (I know because I can still see my widgets) as well as when shutting back down (after attempts to rectify the problem) I would see my icons etc flash back up... this was also confirmed later that explorer is there, and running, it's simply masked by a black screen (note can see cursor)
It gets worse... Launched Firefox through Task manger and found it to be infected as well to the point that Key words such as "PC, Help, Fix, Virus, Clean, etc etc etc" all were highlighted in blue as hyper links on any page visited with pop ups on mouse over... ( I reset firefox and seemed to clear that up... I then downloaded several different... Read more

A:Infected! Desktop hijacker and browser hijacker. Please Help.

I apologize this is not a bump but an update:
Ccleaner after selecting the "Bikiland" Registry entry in startup and disabling it, now blocks temporarily this virus activity for about 30 seconds after normal boot up... so I know it's attached to that... I want to give a bit more detail on what this thing is doing (That I can see) as I believe it to be new. (Also note that the registry entry for "bikiland" vanished in safe mode from Ccleaner! ???????????
It does not "hide the desktop or start bar" It masks it with a black screen... Disabling your ability to click anything beyond it. As well... it disables Access to anything! (Task manager) (Run) etc... I managed to launch Combo fix, as well as CCleaner on two separate occasions now that there is a 30 second window... and what I have observed is that it slowly siezes the machine... causing What ever activity has taken place to slow to a crawl until it can re-implement itself.
Hence it brings up the black screen again... preventing you from accessing anything except moving around your mouse cursor... and no you can not right click etc... It's just a black screen. It also was  temporarily hiding the widgets I said popped through that tipped me off to what it does... now the widgets are visible... while it does it's thing... slowly masking everthing, it's like a null full screen interface, that is a black screen. If that helps clarify... Devilishly clever. Completely has me at a stand still.

This bug is bad bad news.

Hello all,

I am new here, although I did come here quite a few times and many times found the solution :-)

My problem is (I am on 1511) that some icons of removed (by powershell) apps reapeared, and there seem to be no way to get rid of them. Nothing I have found had worked (like going to start menu folder and deleting the shorcuts).

Namely it's MicrosoftWindowsAlarms, MicrosoftZuneMusic, MicrosoftWindowsPhotos, and in Apps the name looks like this: @{Microsoft.WindowsAlarms_10.1607.1991.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwems-resource--Microsoft.WindowsAlarms-Resources-AppName-Text}

Moreover, few days ago some "new" apps have materialized - that was a shock........no update, nothing, out of blue I had about 10 unwanted apps in my all apps...............crazy.

Any thoughts?

P.S. Normally I deffer updates by turning the service off and/or metered connection. Now I have left it on by mistake...........still should not install against my will some unwanted apps..........and as I said, no update.....

A:Icons of uninstalled apps showing in All apps

Those left-over icons may be a result of deleting programs instead of using Control Panel, Programs and Features to uninstall the programs. When a program is installed the install routine puts the program files in either C:\Program Files [32-bit] or C:\Program Files for 64-bit or C:\Program Files (x86) for 32-bit depending upon which version of the OS is in use. It will also create the icons, write support files to C:\Windows or other Folders and create Registry entries so Windows knows how to run the program. The uninstall routine is supposed to get rid of everything associated, don't know if PowerShell can do it as cleanly.

I need your help!!! I got a real challenge for you! I am confused! I cannot locate the Internet connection loss source. Every night for the past 5 late evenings my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit has been losing my Internet connection on my desktop computer anywhere between 8 PM-12 AM (Last 3 nights: 11:05 PM, 8:55 PM, and 10:12 PM). I am on the computer most of the day and evening.

I would be working on something in the evening and when I load a web browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox I use.), I get their prospective home pages not to load. I would get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" from Internet Explorer and "Server not found" from Mozilla Firefox. I also notice my e-mail client's e-mail's visuals will not load too at the moment of Internet loss.

Here are some things I have observed that make it hard to identify the issue:

1. My cable ISP states via their tech. support representative according to their system that I have a connection with no issues when I have no connection.
2. My cable modem shows normal signals on the LED at the time of no connection.
3. My wireless router shows normal signals on the LED at the time of no connection. This is completely hardwired home network. I have no wireless connections.
4. The motherboard/back side of tower's Ethernet port's 2 LED lights near the plug are both lit okay at the time of no connection.
5. I have VOIP service with the VOIP box's LEDs are normal at the time of no connection. This i... Read more

Hi there

If you wish to create easily custom desktop Icons from images captured then you can use the LAST FREE VERSION of ICOFX (It Used to be freeware - everybody seems to be trying to Monetise every possible item now -but the last FREE version is still available and the paid version doesn't really have much to offer if you just want to create ICONS).

Last Freeware version: DiskDigger, Amic Email Backup, Mystic Thumbs, IcoFX, phpDesigner, Xinorbis

@Brink - I added a question in your tutorial about How to create the ICONS for Metro apps as you used Custom ZIP one in your example -- perhaps you could delete the remark or refer to the above program which does it easily

1) For Metro simply open the tile and press PRT SCREEN before the application starts
2) Paste to ms WORD / WORDPAD (Standard comes with Windows enter WORDPAD in the Start box)
3) Use Snipping tool to select a reasonable rectangle of the ICON and save as PNG file
4) Import into the ICOFX program - Will create Icon for you
5) Save as .ICO file
6) Now ready to use in Windows.

I get error messages on both IE and Mozilla that read "Internet Explorer.exe/firefox.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created. " The thing is I can "backdoor" to the net if I sue the Windows update key(for IE) or if I run the virus program I can go tho their website via Mozilla. (I am using SystemSuite5). ( hope I posted this in the right forum, since I am using W2000 but since it's an internet issue I wasn't sure if I should put it in that folder. I'm new here)

Hi, We'd still like you to post a Hijackthis log, here is what to do:

dvk01 said:

Getting Hijackthis and installing it correctly

go to here and download 'Hijack This!' double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu and an optional shortcut on desktop.
Click on the entry in start menu or on the desktop to run HijackThisClick to expand...
First open a reply here in your thread to have it ready.
Run Hijackthis.exe, and
Select the "Scan and save a log" button...

When it is done scanning> the Save box will become available, save the log as hijackthis.txt which will open with Notepad. Hit the EDIT> Select All then the EDIT>Copy button at the top of your log, Go back to TSG, and click once in the blank reply space, then go to the top of your browser window and select EDIT>Paste.
Please do NOT use HJT yourself to remove anything, most of what it shows is good and needed by the system.

After it's looked at someone will advise...there are often problems after virus removal, but I think we can help iron things out.

This is the first time I have posted here and request some advice as I have spent the past four hours attempting to find a solution to my issue.

Upon startup, the desktop icons are accessible, however, upon opening/closing of Internet Explorer, the icons will not even highlight, let alone open. This is both left click (single and double) and right click actions. The right click will not work on the desktop image/wallpaper itself either.

I have run malware, virus, and spybot, repair computer, scan computer, and a host of several other options I was able to read about in other forums. None have fixed the issue.

I am also not the most computer literate person in the world either, so please don't laugh to hard when I say I actually have no idea what operating system I am actually running (nor was I able to determine how to find out), and don't even know if this is an operating system problem.

I began a new post as the search I tried brought up only 1 similar entry, but it was not the same problem, and the other posts I have read aren't really the same issue as I am experiencing.

Sincerely,

PJ

A:Slow internet and desktop icons changed

Just a couple of things to do.

1. Run HijackThis and click on “Do a System Scan Only”.
2. Close all programs except for HijackThis, and place a check beside ONLY the following items:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE
O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\PartyPoker.exe

Go ahead and do all the 016 items as well. Most if not all of them in your log are harmless, but you can get them back when necessary by going back to the sites associated with them.

Click on FIX CHECKED

** I would also download and run CCleaner if you don’t already have it. You can get it from a link below my signature.

** There are several items in your startup list that are not necessary to be running at startup. I suggest something like Startup Control Panel or Startup Inspector to manage those items.

** I would also disable the “Kernel Fault Check” item in your startup. Right click on My Computer, selecting Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on the Settings button in 'Startup and Recovery'. In the bottom pane - under 'Write debugging information' - click on the down arrow and then select 'None' - OK your way out.

Hey, I have had the comcast high speed internet and the same linksys BEFSR4 router for several years now with no problems but recently i have had some connection issues.

Browsing the net is fine (occasional hickups), but when it comes to things such as online games, ventrillo online voice chat, and downloading large files, im having problems.

What is happening is on all the things i do, the connection does not drop right away, instead it kinda pauses and when i try to do an action (such as activate microphone to chat, or open up a list of info in a game) i lose connection.

Downloads just seem to pause after a few minutes, the same goes for autopatchers in games and other software like virus definitions.

I have no idea where to start, but i did run pingplotter for 200 runs on several servers (inluding the game IP's that im losing connection) and im getting packet loss on my personal IP jumps. 10% and up, i read that anything above 2% is most likely a problem.

Here is the photo of pingplotter HERE , its a test of only a single IP, but no matter what IP i run it on i get over 10% packet loss on the first two jumps (which im guessing have something to do with my end).

I also ran it on both of my two pc's and both have very simelar results. I also reset both the modem and router. I have tried different networking cables, and have tried static/nonstatic ips, with no luck. Anykind of suggestions to solve this problem would be greatful i do not want to c... Read more

I'm helping an elderly woman with her computer and I haven't used trouble shooting skills for eight years. She uses MSN (DSL) and was downloading Norton Anti-virus/security 2006 and it crashed in the middle of the download. It was unable to uninstall 2005. When the system rebooted, all of the icons on her desktop don't work (either do any programs from Start-Programs...) ,it shows/says what they are but the pictures are gone and she's unable to connect to the internet anymore. I did a check disk and it came up ok but I'm unable to get into control panel. It's really bizarre within Windows Explore, showing folders with registry headings. Her OS is Windows XP home edition. Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

A:No internet access and Icons on desktop not showing graphic... Please Help!

First I would suggest trying System Restore (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;306084) in Safe Mode for a quick fix to bring the system back to the normal status.

Second if the crash occured in the middle of the download, her system might be infected by malicious software. Try hijackthis or other antispyware tool to clear them before the download/upgrade.

Firstly, there are no destop icons and the toobar is missing apon login just the background is shown. Only can access programs and files using Task Manager. I have tried running explorer.exe but this only sometimes works briefly or not at all. System restore does not help either.
Also when searching on IE I get redirected to random unwanted sites. Resetting my internet explorer settings stops this for a short time but the problem comes back again.

I am not sure if these problems are related or not, any help appreciated!

Hi. I'm new to this. I have tried to post a thread but it doesn't show so I'm trying again (apologies if this is a duplicate now)

From Friday (23rd) I have been having problems with the desktop icons vanishing and the taskbar shortcut icons now working. This happened after a scheduled windows update and only happened on my user account (another one works fine).

I am running windows XP service pack 2 with zonealarm firewall and antivirus.

I did a system restore yesterday to before 23rd May and this resulted in the icons reappearing. However last night whilst on the internet it went pop and the icons disappeared again. I had to do another restore at that point (to same date) and icons have reappeared again!

Am at a loss to explain what's going on - have also run spyware scan (zonealarm) and spybot scan but don't know if this has found the issue ...

Thanks in advance

However, now I can't do or access the following now:

1) No icons on the desktop, cannot right click on desktop either
2) Internet is connected (other programs working, skype etc), but IE, firefox browser cannot connect to any sites
3) Start menu, programs, has folders listed but each folder is empty
4) When I start computer in normal mode, User/Start Menu/Programs/Startup/desktop opens in notepad displaying the following message [.ShellClassInfo] [email protected]%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll, -21787

Before I start, I should say that my computer is so bad off at this point that I can't even use it to post this message. I'm posting from a laptop, not my PC.

I mistyped a common, and trusted, URL and I ended up getting this ridiculous virus on my computer. My desktop icons, specifically spybot search and destroy, combofix, and anti-malware are UNCLICKABLE. They do not load, or respond in anyway to double clicking. Smitfraud gives me an error message. My Firefox and IE redirect to "Insecure Internet Activity" and says that my computer is at risk or unprotected from viruses, and offers two links to "solve the problem." Since posting this, Firefox just crashes every time I try to load it up. If I try to sign on AIM (which I did to send myself the HijackThis log) the program CLOSES ITSELF in a few minutes. What could possibly be wrong??

As I mentioned, I was able to get a HijackThis log and send it to myself. Please, please help. I use this computer for work and school and any help getting it up and running again soon will be EXTREMELY appreciated.

A:Missing Taskbar and Desktop Icons Evertime I click links on the internet

Hello jerald,

You missed the most important step.

As noted in the final step (Step 5) of our sticky topic IMPORTANT - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help....

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop.

What DSS will do:create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review.
DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

Hello,

This is my first topic, so forgive me if i'm not exactly following the rules.
I have the exact same problem as discribed in this topic: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic461937.html

After a trojan (which is removed using Tdsskiller, gmer, Malwarebytes, Combofix & Kaspersky Internet Security 2012) i still have some problems:
- My desktop icons are rearranged after every restart.
- My computer loses the connection with the internet after several hours.

Can someone please help me?

Hey guys ? so I have a huge issue, not too sure what virus I?ve run into. I?ll start from the beginning.

Yesterday as I was closing down my computer I noticed a Java icon on my taskbar, and I wasn?t running any java apps that I know of. I closed it down, and firefox froze on me. I finally decided to CTL+ALT+DEL firefox but I think the damage was done. I immediately ran a malwarebytes scan and it found 5 things, all Trojan/virus related (from what I remember they were avsoft/avsuite related because I remember thinking that they looked like Avast). I deleted them and rebooted. Upon reboot, my computer took forever from the login in screen to get to the desktop/icons. I read some info on running ?explorer.exe? but it was already running. I shut it down and tried to run ?explorer.exe? in the RUN option in the task manager. When it came up, the desktop and icons appeared, however they looked like an old OS. I have Windows XP, but it looked like windows 98 or something (gray task bar and task manager, hopefully that makes sense).

I have malwarebytes, avast, mcafee, so I ran scans with those and they didn?t find anything. I could not connect to the internet, so I started up in safe mode and tried a scan then. Came up with nothing. Finally, I did a system restore to yesterday before I got infected and when I restarted it took forever to load again BUT it was back to the XP look (blue task bar/manager) thankfully. I was able to connect to firefox BUT when I go to antivirus sites I ... Read more

Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.
GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.-- If you encounter any problems, try running GMER in safe mode.-- If GMER crashes or keeps resulting in a BSODs, uncheck Devices on the right side bef... Gud day everyone,

Eveytime i browse the internet and clicking some links, my desktop freezes and suddenly the taskbar disappear as well as the desktop icons..

Could anyone help me to fixed this?

Thanks..
Jerald

A:Missing Taskbar and Desktop Icons Evertime I click links on the internet

I'm not an expert and you might want to wait for expert advice. It seems to me that explorer.exe process stops responding in ur system. to bring the desktop back, just hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up Task Manager and select "New Task (Run...)" from the File menu and type in "explorer.exe".

i dont know the reason why this is happening (if you're using internet explorer, u can try using another browser like firefox and see if this still happens. further, viruses can also cause this, so scan ur system for them. or just wait for some expert here to advise you).
