Solved: Modules and Wall Plates

Q: Solved: Modules and Wall Plates

I have been upgrading my cables for LAN and Sat TV. I am almost ready to "clean up" the wiring. I was looking at rj45 modules, coax modules, and wall plates. Before I get myself into trouble, will someone please answer a few questions for me?
1.) Are "keystone" and "leviton" modules and plates interchangeable or do I have to stay with one or the other.
2.) Are all rj45 modules the same? Some seem to say Cat 5 others Cat5e and others Cat 6. I ran Cat5e cable for my expansion and update and want to be sure I get the right modules. I purchased bulk cable and a crimp tool and successfully made up my own cables, so I feel pretty comfortable that I will be OK "punching down" the cable to the module. Also saw some modules that did not require a punch down tool.

Basically I just want to end up with several two or three port wall plates with modules for TV (f connector), LAN (rj45 module) and regular telephone.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You should stick with one brand. I use the Leviton ones here, and they've worked out fine for me. The only difference between them might be the CAT6, some CAT6 cable (but not all) is 23ga instead of 24ga like CAT5/5e. If you have CAT5e, CAT5 connectors and jacks are compatible, they're the same thing. The Leviton ones I used recently have a plastic cover that presses the wires into the block, no tool required.

A:How to wire wall plates.

are these mdvo connectors for wallplates? I usu. do walls as 568A and patch cords as 568B color codes. The 'A' color codes match telco stuff more closely. What ever u use (a or b) make sure it's the same at both ends.
Is there no color plate on the snapdown of the connector?

Are they like the ones in http://www.nordx.com/public/htmfr/pdf/ez-mdvo.pdf or are we dealing with something different like bix ?

Having a bit of a problem here. Have recently installed Kaspersky Internet security v6.0.2

Things were ok before the installation as for me to download from a program such which requires opening of ports, i was easily able to through the router firewall. It now seems i have to do this using Kaspersky also?

Now, that seems ok until i see so many options. I see "Rules for applications", "Rules for packet filtering" and "Zones". The first two contain similar sort of rules.

How do i go around configuring this if i want to download using mIRC for example. Could someone please provide a step by step on what ports i should be using first of all for downloading using DCC and how do i confgire Kaspersky along with that.

I have an old hard drive which i used for bacup of personal files whilst i replaced another HD. However the drive was fine for the write but as soon as i tried to copy back the bacup drive failed. I think the spindle is damaged as the head jumps constantly.
Me being me i didnt do any other bacups so i lost a lot of important stuff and the missus is gonna kill me. DOH.

Anyway, the question is this. I have heard rumours that i can place the plates into another drive of similar capicity and it MAY work. Is there any truth in this?

If so does it need to be same manufacturer, and what about size differances between the two drives, will the mobo be able to work with it etc.

Cheers for any help.

Hi Everyone,

First of all, thanks for taking the time to read this thread.

I'm a professional writer.

I have a Dell Dimension 3250 Running Windows XP Service Pack 3.

This is an older machine with Pentium 4, 256 MB of RAM.

While understanding it's old, I need this machine to do two things:

1. Use the Internet
2. Use Microsoft Word

I don't need it to burn DVD's and CD's, play flight simulator games games, edit large picture files or store mp3s, I don't need to tweet or Facebook or any of that jazz. I don't need it to even print anything.

I need it to write and e-mail.

Seriously - there are cell phones that do this and my six year old computer can't.

This thing cost me about $1,000 back in 2004 and now it can't do these two things?

This machine blows at those two simple tasks. Why?

The internet is slow and often "pauses" and it struggles to run the two programs at the same time.

The tower is always making that clicking noise.

People tell me I should just buy a new computer.

Maybe a Mmac that will put me out another 2K and look quite sleek,
but that I'll really only need to do two things: e-mail and write.

To that I say - why should I buy a new computer for 2K that does 100 things I don't need? This computer is old, sure but shouldn't it at least be able to do these two tasks?

Adware? Malware? Registry Errors? I've been down this road 1,000 times.

I run the following programs all the time:

avast! anti-virus... Read more

With XP SP3 you need WAY more than 256MB of RAM. When you purchased your computer, you could get away with 256MB of RAM, but SP3 upped the ante memory wise. You really should upgrade to something like 1GB of RAM. That would provide a noticeable improvement in speed. This is all under the assumption that everything else is running correctly in your computer. The clicking noise is likely the HD working feverishly to do what it needs to do to simply function. We could go in to swapping memory to the HD (the system does it as a way to function with limited resources), but that would start to make your eyes water with boredom. I'd suggest going to http://www.crucial.com/ have it scan your system and order the RAM they suggest. Their RAM is guaranteed to work with your computer if you order what they suggest. It really is an inexpensive upgrade that would extend the usable life of your machine.

Second question, where can I sell my old modules?
And a final question, what is the name (if there are modules like that) and where do they sell them for the cheapest price possible, those 1 gigabyte RAM modules?

I have a Micron Millennia GS 933. Bus is 133. I am having a hard time adding 256 SDRAM. I have 3 slots. I have 2 256 and 1 68(68 came with puter). I have put 4 different 256 SDRAM pc 133 in. None have worked. I need a 168 pin, PC 133, VC SDRAM, Non-ECC(64 bit) 3.3V with total max of 768. I can't change the position they are in, or one doesn't show up. I have the Micron 68 in the middle. Should I assume that the only ram stick compatible would be another Micron stick? I have tired kingston, pny, other known brands. My computer is past 3 years old. I am trying to beef it up. I have a radeon 8500 graphics card, I play games and would love the extra ram.

Next question. Is it common for a DVD ROM disk drive to burn out after 3 1/2 years? Mine started to run loud and is now heating up. Been using the other(non-DVD) disk drive for games.

What is the life expectency of a computer? I also have one fan that is starting to rattle when I first turn the computer on. Should I start saving for a new one and stop spending money on this one? Thanks

In MS Access you can write VBA code that allows you to manipulate the existing VBA code in standard and class modules by using the Modules collection of the application object.

In Access VBA, the Application.Modules collection contains only open modules

I am trying to do a similar same thing in Excel but with no luck.

There appears to be an undocumented Modules collection in Excel but the Modules.Count always comes back as zero. If this works the same way as in Access VBA, then none of the modules are officially "open" (including the one I'm executing).

Anyone have any experience doing this sort of thing in MS Excel VBA?

I just want to write some quick and dirty code to do some rudimentary analysis of an Excel application that was dropped on my desk. I want to do things like counting lines of code, and identifying the entry points and global declarations.

Yes, I can cut and paste all of the code into a text file and analyze that but I was looking for a more elegant solution.

I have an ECS K7S5A motherboard w/a SIS 735 chipset, AMD Athlon XP chip. I was running 2 256k memory modules in my system, Accubyte brand. One went bad so I'm now down to one 256k module. I've tried installing two different 1 GB modules in my board and neither worked. (One generic industry standard and one Samsung module.) Both times the system went thru the bootup routine fine, checked memory and hd's etc, but then when it got to the point it should boot into Windows, it just sits there.

The memory module specs: PC2100 (64x8) 16C 266Mhz DDR 184Pin DIMM. The 256k module, the one that works in my machine, is made by Accubyte, but I can't find that anywhere on the internet.

The manual for the mb says it will take 1 GB of memory, so that's not the problem.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I am sick of running on only 256k!

A:Solved: Access 03 - Call Modules/Procedures

ddw, I am not sure what you named "ReqFields", was it the Module or the Sub?
If it was the module then I would suggest it would be better to call the Sub either the same or something just as meaningful, do not use a Form's Event for it's name as it might confuse Access.
If you re-name your Sub as ReqFields then use
Call ReqFields

to call it.

2. Click "Properties Window"

Once you have the properties window displaying, you can select the module. In the properties window you will see a field like "(Name)". Out to the right, enter the name of the module you would like to see.

Forgive me if this sounds a little too newbieish: I received a new computer a couple of months ago. On two occasions now I have had access blocked to a web site by SonicWall saying that the site is blocked by such and such filter. I have installed a couple of antivirus and antispyware programs on my computer very recently, but am unsure of where SonicWall has come from. Is it part of the Vista (Home Premium) security system, did I get it as part of another package? Or, was it somehow pre-installed on my system by the manufacturer (HP)? It does not appear under programs and does not come up when I type Sonic into Start Search. What the heck is this?

P.S. Searching for Sonic Wall provides plenty of hits but no clue as to how it got on my system or how to disable it (blocked by Sonic Wall).

Could the be part of a system in the coffeeshop I am now in?

Ok, well for the last 2 years or whatever my computer has ran call of duty 2 with 125 FPS. I got CoD4 it runs it with around 50-60 - but higher inside buildings. So today was a typical day, played CoD2 fine, 125 FPS and CoD4 fine with the usual 50-60 and higher. I took a break from the computer, and I come back a few hours later, hop in CoD4 and there's a new map I haven't played, my fps was unusually low and seemed to not move from 45-50. So I said screw this map and left to play CoD2. I join a server and my FPS is locked right at 50-60 FPS. I know it's not my Vertical Sync because that is "forced off" and the Nvidia control panel VSync doesn't effect CoD ingame, just Counter Strike usually. I rebooted as well and my FPS is exactly the same.

I have no idea what is wrong, because I did absolutely nothing to my computer from the time it had 125 FPS to the time it had 50-60.

Any help is appreciated. Maybe a reinstall of drivers? I'm not sure.

So I'm fixing (or trying to fix) a friends laptop. It's a HP Pavilion zv5120us. The problem is that when powered on, the laptop will not accept power from the AC adapter (which should be low voltage DC power when it get's to it right?). It will however charge the battery when the computer is shut off. So it will run till the battery is dead, then charge itself and then you can turn it on again.

Apparently the zv5000s have similar problems like, no battery charge, no power whatsoever and most of these problems originate from the AC jack. I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT AND INSTALLED A NEW JACK. My soldering was top notch. The problem persists in exactly the same manner. I have also tested the AC adapter. It has a green LED that comes on and with a multimeter it registered something like 40.9 on the 200 setting for AC volts. All these things make me think it's some software problem. Maybe there's some stupid setting that got switched so it won't run off wall power.

If anything triggers a thought for anyone please reply, I want to get rid of this thing.

This morning i turned on my pc and connected a new monitor to it via my gpu, my other monitor was on and suddenly turned off. I had no signal from both my monitors so i could not see what was going on or what had happened, so i tried turning off my pc by holding down the power button for several seconds.....and nothing. Waiting around for a few hours i had enough and turned off the pc via the wall mains socket and left the computer off for another few hours, came back to find Pc does not turn on at all, opened up the case to find the green motherboard light was turned on and yet the pc was still not turning on. So i started with taking off the gpu and other pci cards to see if it would make any difference, it did nothing. took off the psu and tested the psu with the old paperclip trick and it worked fans started spinning so im assuming the psu is working fine. I also checked all the connections to the motherboard, took them off, reinserted them cleaned up the dust etc and yet nothing the last thing i done was i checked to see if the case power button was faulty.....it wasn't. any ideas as to what the cause could be and how to resolve the problem?

Any replies will be appreciated

I am working on repairing a Acer Aspire 5736Z-4790. It was given to me after literally hitting a wall . from a first visual inspection it has a cracked lcd and the dvd drive cover is missing. There are also several scratches that are inconsequential.

Upon further inspection, the right side usb ports did not work and the display does come up on an external monitor. The dvd drive, while showing up in the bios and having power, is not able to boot windows7. I am assuming buy the few noises that it makes and the lack of spinning sound that it is damaged.

After taking it partially apart, the right side usb ports' cable was not plugged in...easy fix.

LCD, backlight works, it is just really really cracked up, new monitor being ordered soon.

DVD, figure i'm going to just replace it.

My question is regarding the DVD drive. It's a sata drive, so I am assuming that any sata drive will fit and plug into that area (ie are these standard sizes, or different depending on laptop/dvd manufacture)?

Also, for the external side of the drive, are these standard also or do I need to look for a similar/same model for it to set flush with the case.

Laptop with dvd rom pictured

What i'm assuming my dvd rom looked like since i am missing the black piece that says dvdrom etc on it.

Not sure if i can only attach one picture, but here is a link to the dvd rom image

I am currently using McAfee Antivirus and Firewall. The programs are over taxing my slow computer, requiring an additional 5 minutes to boot when left in the startup folder.

Are programs available that are efficient, run in the background, boot quickly, but not over whelm the computer? Freeware would be great, but all recommendations are appreciated.

For about the past week, users of both products have had difficulty.

if you turn off the anti-spyware feature of the ZA, the problem goes away.

I have told the technical department at the Wall Street Journal, but it is impossible to communicate with ZA. Either you give them information and join one of their forums or you give them a credit card and see what they do with it. I don't like either option.

If any readers are members of the ZA forum, feel free to seize is the glory and give them the workaround involving anti-spyware.

This is my first try at asking questions on the net so please bare with me.
I was using a "dial up" and now I have ComCast Broad Band. After I picked up the cable modem I then purchased a "D-Link" router. My understanding is that the router is also a "hardware fire wall." If this is true, then I need to know if I still need my Norton Personal Firewall. Thanks for your help.

Ok, this is a strange one... I was working when my system seemed to go a bit crazy, bunch of windows opened up and told me that my virus protection was not working etc.. I closed them all and ran a quick scan with Symtec to see if I had somehow picked up a virus. Decided to reboot. When I restarted the computer I had this strange circle going on. It goes thru a normal bootup, and when it is loading the tray, it starts going in a circle. Starts loading up programs and then restarts and then restarts etc. Most of the time, after 3 or 4 times it ends with just the wall paper visable. Now, at this point the computer seems ok, I can run most any program by starting them in Task Manager ( applications, new task etc...). In fact that is how I signed up for this forum and wrote the note. BUT I cannot get the desktop back. The only way is to run Windows Explorer, via task manager, then you get it back, but it does the circle thing continously. IF you can get a program started during the part of the circle where icons etc are visable, then it will run. SO, I tried doing a restore, went back one day and ran the restore. Seemed to run normally. BUT the symptoms are the same ( now it was close to midnight, so I should have gone back farther). NOW, when I tried to go and do another restore, to go back farther, the restore program runs normally, except it will not let me choose a day. Shows many possible days and the help runs etc.. the buttons "push" but nothing happens.
