Q: Yoga 2 Pro: Wifi was off when Updates tried to loa...

I have a Yoga 2 Pro Ultrabook. The computer was on but the Wifi was not on. I was shutting down when the message came up that "Updates are Loading - don't turn off your computer" and supposedly loaded 1 of the updates. Then after a while when the computer realized it wasn't connected to Wifi and couldn't load the balance of updates, I received this message on the screen "We couldn't complete the updates Undoing changes Don't turn off your computer". I waited hours and nothing - the screen is frozen with this message and I can't do anything with the computer now? What should I do?

Hello I just asking if there is Spectre and Meltdown patched bios coming to Yoga 910-13IKB. Latest bios is old from June 2017, which don't have any patches for Spectre and Meltdown. Also I would want to have newer Graphics driver. Available driver is even older than bios and Intels own drivers are not supported. I was suprised that Windows 10 1809 worked with this old drivers.

Hey guys,  I bought this Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 about a month ago, and have had no problems with it until about 3 days ago when the wifi internet got really slow and would cut out with in a minute or two of working. During this time, any time I open the notebook and connect to wifi all other devices in the house won't get internet. I've tried browsing through this forum, but the solutions that seemed to work for others have not worked for me. If anyone has experienced this or knows of a solution please let me know. Thank you!

I personally prefer to use Lenovo Updates vs MS updates.  My understanding which may be wrong is that Lenovo has to release updates through MS but Vantage will eventually catch up?  I am wondering why I still show the below in Windows updates from 2/7/19?  Its been more than 2 months but I dont see anything in Vantage OR Lenovo website with the below drivers?  Does anyone even know what the below are for?

I don't know if my adapter is bad, or if it's a Windows 10 update causing this, but the internet just disconnects after a few seconds, I then troubleshoot it, it resets and is good for like 30 seconds before it just disconnects again. This is a NEW install of Windows 10 ruling out software problems.All other devices on my network work fine ruling out router problems.I have installed latest Realtek driver.I have tried to change the settings for the adapter such as power ect. This was working fine on Windows 10 for the last year or longer.Should I try going back to Windows 8.1? Anyone have a link to buy a replacement Wifi module?

So did mine (which I bought Monday), but - having bought a number of computers over the years - this didn't surprise me. I'd imagine the SSD is loaded long before the machine is assembled. In my case, the pre-loaded build of Win10 predated the so-called "anniversary update." And huge operating system updates such as that generally lead to driver and other software updates.  I know half the apps on my phone have to update every time a new flavor of OS rolls out.

I'm having very inconsistent wifi performance on my Yoga 910. This has the Qualcomm Aetheros network adapter. I already installed the latest drivers from lenovo site. I also adjusted the power settings for maximum performance on both plugged in and battery. I have full signal... I'm maybe 15 feet away from my router. My phone is getting nearly 100Mb/s and my expensive new laptop is struggling to hit 2Mb/s right now. I've searched and tried any and all fixes. It seems that a restart will usually get the speed back up, but only temporarily. I check resources and don't see any process or service using the wifi, yet the speed tanks like crazy. As an example, I was barely able to hit 2Mb, restarted and now its hitting 150Mb every time. After about 5 minutes, speeds are back down to 2-5Mb tops. What's going on here? -- Ed

Are you also seeing WHEA-logger errors being reported in the Event Viewer? Does it help if you connect using the 2.4GHz band instead of the 5GHz band?
 
There's clearly something wrong, but whether it's really the hardware or the driver software is difficult to tell at this point. I've put a service call into Lenovo. I'll see what that brings.

Hi,Just picked up a yoga 720 the other day and am finding the wifi drops out on all mobile devices when using the laptop. I have to reboot the modem (TP LINK Archer D7) which usually lasts another 2-15mins before drops out again. I've tried updating laptop drivers and modem firmware but no luck. Hi, As many other Yoga 920 users have experienced I too had issues with slow and unreliable WIFI. After doing research online and trying out all possible software tweaks to the yoga?s wifi card I decided the only solution was to replace it. Searching online and in these forums shows that I am not alone having this issue so I decided to write down a guide on how to replace the wifi card. The process is dead simpler, but you'll need a T5 torx and Phillip?s screwdriver for this. Step 1 is to purchase the new card. I opted for the newer intel 9260, but the older 8260 and 8265 should also work fine. I live in the UK and purchased it off Ebay. I am not affiliated with this seller but I found it to be a good price and I received it in the mail after 2 days. I am sure you can find this card readily available world wide by now. Step 2: before installing the new wifi card you need to download the drivers for your new card. The intel 9260 drivers can be found here.I also recommend you to download the drivers for your exisiting card incase the new card is faulty or for whatever reason don't work. You'll find those here. Step 3: when the drivers are download I recommend to uninstall your current wifi card driver. Head to Device Manager-> right click on your wireless network card and select uninstall device. Step 4: when that's done power off your computer and disconnect the charger. I updated my system this morning and it did download an update to my wifi card.  It download RealTek WLAN Driver -10(64) V.2024.0.2.101.   Now in the system logs it says, "WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.Module Path: C:\Windows\system32\Rtlihvs.dll" Can I uninstall this driver to see if that would fix the issue?  If I can how would I go out doing that inside the device manager or no? Also if I can uninstall it wont Windows 10 just reinstall it once I restart the computer? Thanks, Tony

Hi all, As with many I am experiencing severe Wifi issues with new Yoga 11s. I will try to explain in detail in the hope that someone who better understands how wifi really works might be able to help diagnose. I have a Talktalk badged Huawei HG533 router. This delivers c.15Mbs reliably all around my house (2xTVs, computers up and downstairs, 2xphones). Using Speedtest.net to capture speeds. With the Yoga, if I sit right next to the router (as I am now), I get 15Mbs. In other parts of the house I get just 0.5Mb, including rooms where other devices are measured at 15. I have updated drivers and upgraded to W8.1 though I experienced exactly the same problem before the upgrade. I have tested every room and it seems that it will either work at very close to the maximum (in a few rooms) or drops off catastrophically to 0.5mb or less. There is no in between. I never lose connection altogether. There seems no correalation between the level of signal displayed (4 or 5 bars) and the speed.The 'good' rooms are separated by fewer walls. I have also observed that on occasion having tested in a good room and then moving to one of the bad rooms it initially shows good performance, before seemingly recognising where it is and throttling back to unusable. It is as though once it gets to a certain distance/separation/signal strength it somehow 'jams' the signal. I really neeed to find a solution to this as 1. my office is one of the bad rooms and 2. I notice that 80 people have viewed my previous post but no one yet replied . Thought I'd give an update to see whether anyone else experienced similar problems. So - machine still behaving as before (good or bad, nothing between) so I bought a USB wi-fi adapter because I needed to get connection in my office. I got exactly the same issues! .  Sitting in my office - old laptop (shortly to return to ex employer) running along nicely at 15Mbps - new Yoga, with TP-Link adapter in (and on-board RealTek disabled) crawling at 0.3Mbs 2 feet away. Could it be some on-board interference coming from Yoga itself (that takes over at a certain level of signal)? Could it be something to do with W8? I am at a complete loss and would really welcome any feedback or suggestions from other forum members. Many thanks

MY yoga 900 arrived yesterday and I haven't been able to connect to WFI for more then few minutes before experiencing heavy drop outs. Not only that, but it is  interfering with all other devices connected to the same wifi and I loose signal on all devices(MY phone and my wife laptop). The only way to get back the connection on those devices is to power down  the yoga completely. It is the first time I experience this kind of interference. I suspected the problem was a compatibility issue between my router and the yoga. So I took the yoga to the office today and the same things happened!?!! All devices in the office lost the WIFI  unless I turn off the machine.... Any help? Thanks!

K, I found that if i go to intel WIFI adapter settings and I choose 802.11 b things works well except I get slow connection. However I just noticed a new problem: the touchpad is freezing for few secs from time to time and I can't move the pointer.

I've been using this Yoga 510-14ISK for almost two years now, and I recently realised that the WiFi speed changes drastically between battery power and plugged in charger. Sitting in the same spot, I can get the full speed of my home WiFi if I plug in the charger, but I can get only 1-2 mbps if I use battery power.Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Does anyone have issues with wifi speed on yoga 720?I have 100 mbps download, everyone laptop in the house gets 80 mbps plus over wifi while on yoga I get maximum 35-40mbps.I updated any available drivers, updated the bios, changed power plan adapter to be on maximum performance and nothing made a difference. any suggestions? thanks.

Won't show available wifi.  Windows diagnostic test says Qualcomm Atheros adapter experiencing driver or hardware problem.  So how can I connect this laptop to internet using a USB port only? Yes I'm pretty low tech person in rural part of country.  Adapters are in short supply:-) Thanks!

Let me start by saying I've tried everything that everyone has recommended to fix this issue. I can hardly ever connect to my router, when it does it says no internet connection. It will only connect when I'm right next to the router, and even then the speeds are miniscule, 2-5 Mbps when I get over 200 Mbps with my Galaxy S7 in the same place. The issue occurs on 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. It also occurs on other WiFi networks and while using my phone's mobile hotspot. Drivers are up to date.Wifi card is set to not turn off in Device Manager.Network card is set to max performance in Power settings.I have tried a factory reset of Windows 10.I have tried changing the channel on my router's 2.4 GHz band.I have checked the wifi card itself, as well as the antennas by a shop. They said the antennas look fine and are connected.I have uninstalled literally all bloatware that was on the device from factory.I have tried everything except replacing the WiFi card itself. The wifi card is Qualcomm Atheros QCNFA34AC. I'm not sure when it started but it has been happening for a while, I don't use my laptop that frequently. It could have happened after upgrading to Windows 10 from 8.1. In the mean time I have been using an ASUS Wifi USB adapter that works flawlessly, gets 100+ Mbps from the other side of my apartment from the router.

Longshot you may have already tried: set the wifi card's channel width to 20MHz, or if it's already set that way try "auto" or the other possibilities.
 
I've seen the "connected but no internet" problem and worked around it this way.  Unlikely if it was working previously but easy to try.

Hi All, The wireless adapter has disappeared!It was working well for 6 months and Saturday it stopped connecting.It reconnected Sunday briefly, but this morning  will not connect again .If I go into 'Change adapter settings' in windows there is no wireless adapter, only bluetooth.I have used device manager to search for the device, reinstalled the wireless drivers, gone into BIOS and disabled and re-enabled the Wireless there, but the device just will not appear. Any ideas, or is it time to return it under warrenty. Shame as it has worked flawlessly for 4 months

Hello, since a while (don't know when it happened and why) I don't see my WLAN Router (as well as others) anymore. The strange thing is that I can connect to my WLAN by using my Dell as a Wireless Hotspot, ie I see my Dell (which is connected to the WLAN) as a Wireless Hotspot and can connect to it.   All Windows Updates and Drivers are up2date. WIN10 64 / WLAN Router is Fritzbox 7390   Does anybody have an idea what's wrong? CheersDaniel

Hi,I bought a Yoga 500 approx 9 months ago. After two months the wifi suddenly ceased working completely - I received the error message "Not connected - no connections available". I tried basic troubleshooting, but in the end I was forced to leave it in for service.  I got it back after a few weeks, and it has subsequently worked fine - until 2 weeks ago, when I received the same error message. I am not able to connect to the internet through wifi at all, and  have tried basic troubleshooting. Anyone expereinced this problem? On a brand new Yoga 3 PRO 1370 -  I am getting very low WIFI signal on all my routers. Compared side by side : Think pad yoga and yoga 3 pro - the first one have full bars on signal , the 3 pro have only 1-2 bars and disconnect all the time.  Only when the laptop is very close to the router -  getting full signal bars. Already removed and update the drivers twice . tried all configurations and power options - still very very low signal reception. Any ides ?

1. Windows Operating System 32bit or 64bit system
2. Router information : Brand and Model, does it support wireless B, G & N
3. Check if your bluetooth is turned on.

The WIFI speed on my laptop is so slow.  Other devices connected to same WIFI are at 100mbps. The speedtest (speedtest.com) that i just performed gave a reading of 5.53 Mbps download speed and 0.14 upload speed.  I work from home and I'm about to lose my mind.  I can't get anything done because my internet based apps are hanging.   I read on another forum about the Yoga 920 doing this.  Some of the solutions were to download a driver for the 910.  I wasn't sure if this would solve my issue since I have the 910.  I also couldn't figure out where to go to find out which driver I have installed.  I loved my Yoga when I first bought it.  Now that I've been searching this forum for answers to my issue I'm seeing that a lot of other people are having issues with theirs.  Making me lose confidence in this product.

Really often my new Yoga drops the wifi signal and then i have to turn off wifi, run diagnostics or restart to gain wifi signal with internet connection again.On my old work laptop connected to the same wifi, I never have this problem.Any idea what could be the cause for this?

Hello, I have a X1 Yoga 1st gen bought around 1 year back. It had a fan problem which finally solved only after a replacement of the fan. I received my laptop yesterday and since then the WiFi doesnt work anymore. It worked prefectly before I gave it for repair. It doesn't connect at all OR if I put it right next to the router, it picks up an extremely weak signal that is of no use. I have tried updating the drivers to the latest one (from Lenovo support website, ver 20.3). But this hasnt resolved the issue. Could you please tell me how to fix this? It is annoying to buy something worth $3000 that has all kinds of problems from the get go! First the fan and now the WiFi. Thanks!

Hello, I recently bought a yoga 910-13ikb, and since day 1 I cannot get wifi connection, the troubleshooter shows that wifi doesnt have a valid ip configuration, so there's no internet.  i've tried with netsh winsock reset catalog, netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, ipconfig /release , ipconfig /renew., also turning the antivirus and firewall off, I downloaded the latest update fron lenovo's page, and none of them make the wifi work.  other laptops and phones work well in the same wlan. can anyone help me with a solution for this problem?. thank you.

I am using a lenovo yoga 14. When I connect to my wifi network at home the internet often randomly turns off. It doesn't only disconnect my laptop, it kicks all of the other devices off the network as well. I have no viruses and the laptop seemed to be doing this from when I originally got it. I updated my drivers for the wifi and have tried various other fixes but nothing seems to work. Hello all, Heres a little guide I am making to assist others who have the same issue as me where the WiFi on your Yoga is ubearably slow. For my example I will be using a Yoga 730 "15. I reccomend you follow all these steps before opening your laptop or cracking open the wallet at your nearest Geek Squad and turning your most likely software problem into a "hardware" problem. This method should work for all 700 series laptops and other lenovo products as these setting are purely based off of Vantage and built in windows software.  What you will need:Ethnernet connection and USB-C or USB ethnernet dongle.Ethnernet cableInternet connectionLenovo VantagePower supply/ChargerMethod 1: Lenovo VantageThis method is about updating your BIOS to the latest revision. I will leave this post up, as it can be very useful to others facing this issue. However on my end the fix was using system restore, I believe it was a VMWare update or the other restore point called DirectNet. Im gonna do research on it, as I have no clue what it is. Thanks for reading my post hopefully it's not as pointless as it was to my own self.  DirectNet is a FTP solution that mounts FTP servers as drives, not the issue. If you don't want to do a restore and have VM Ware uninstall it or switch to an older version.

Hey, So I bought the new 700 yoga with the core i7 this past week. I had some issues with the wifi and have been scouring the internet and can not find a fix for the incredibly slow wifi. My internet is fios with 40 up and down and can get that speed on my lenovo thinkpad, y series laptop, and cell phone. But this the only laptop that has windows 10 installed and when i run either speedtest.net or the internet health test this laptop will not get anything close to that. I have installed all the windows update and disabled the peer to peer update and every information sharing option in the settings. The speeds i can get in the first minute of turning on the laptop is 8 down and 20ish up. After one or two minutes the down and upload speeds drop to 0.1mbps down and up and it will time out the internet constantly. Anyone else having issues like this? I called the tech support line and since I am getting some wifi connection the support service said it is not a hardware issue and is a software issue but for the support i would have to pay to on a laptop i had less than a week.Any help would be great.

Hello guys, I looked for that problem everywhere but there is no solution I can find. My laptop cannot find any wifi network, seems like it doesn't see my wifi card at all. Couple of days ago it worked perfectly. I tried to wipe my system, reset it but it didn't help. Any ideas?

My yoga will connect to my wifi network only once. I then need to reboot my wifi router. No other devices in the house have this problem and the network is always still active. I get two messages and not sure why I get one and not the other. The messages basically say either network not available (but it is) or that something has changes and it asks for the network password but then wont connect either. My network adapter is Realtek RTL8723AU. I have made sure all drivers are up to date, tried changing power saving options so they dont turn off adapter.  Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I have a:Yoga 2 Pro (i7)Intel Wireless-N 7260Linksys E4200 Dual-band router I have no problems connecting at home, however, I cannot connect (at all) at the car dealrship I have my vehicle serviced at (iPad and cellphone connect just fine).I can connect at my office , however, it constantly drops and reconnects. It would be completely unreliable to take on the road.

Ok, so I see that the earlier Yoga had problems with Wifi, and I'm wondering if this is the same problem I have with my Yoga 2 Pro. If the wifi signal is at all weak, it just seems to drop out. This is a huge headache and might be grounds for returning the machine, which I have already fallen deeply in love with. Is there a fix? Is this just me or is this an issue across the board?

The wifi kept cutting out. The only solution that worked for me was to just replace the wifi card. It's cheap and relatively simple to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s92TggVK_CQ

Hi I'm experiencing troubles with the WiFi on my new Yoga 500-15IBD laptop. I tried to find a solution throughout this forum (and the rest of the internet....), but so far I couldn't find anything that directly relates to my problem (or solves it). The problem is as follows:Basically the WiFi is quite unstable. Every once in a while it just looses the connection, despite being directly next to the router. It then says "limited connection" and the only way to make it work again is to either reboot, or click "troubleshooting" on the WiFi symbol, which then basically resets the adapter. I already tried to solve the issue by applying all Windows 10 updates, and by trying to install a new driver (this worked previously for my ThinkPad Yoga 2, which had similar problems at the beginning). So far, no success. The curious thing about the driver is, that when I go to the lenovo support page and let the website determine what kind of laptop I have, to automatically show me all available drivers, it shows me drivers for a WiFi adapter that I don't have... It successfully determines that my Yoga 500 is a 15IBD, but the drivers that it shows me for download are either for an Intel WLan adapter, or for a CyberTan/Liteon. But I have a Broadcom 802.11ac device installed. Why is that? Shouldn't lenovo know what they built in? I also tried to disallow Windows from shutting down the WiFi adapter to save power, but this didn't work either. In addition, I also tried ... Read more

Apparently, the LiteOn driver is intended for Broadcom WLAN hardware. It's now been renamed to Broadcom to make it clearer to everybody. Try installing that driver and let us know how you get on.

Hello,When trying to update my Thunderbolt Software and Firmware, the versions are older than other ThinkPads like T470 even though it has the same Thunderbolt controller 15BF. For example the T470 is on v17 while Yoga is on v16.Please make the updates for T470 available for Yoga 370 too. I don't use a TB3 dock or eGPU (yet) but have heard from others having connection/power issues. Based on TB3 software changelogs the new version should fix most of these issues.  Thank you.
