I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've spent hours researching this annoying feature. If I leave the machine in sleep/hibernate state for more than about an hour and then open the lid, only the Lenovo logo is shown. CAD combo restarts but again only the logo is shown. I need to press the power button once, wait a few seconds then press the power button again. Then the laptop starts normally. The attached file shows my power settings. I appreciate any assistance. I have this problem whether I have my Wacom Pro S tablet attached or not. The laptop is brand new.

Computer:  Satellite S75D-A7272 Windows 8.  When I power up I get the usual Toshiba logo with loading circle then the screen goes black.  I have kept it on to see if it was loading updates but after 15 minutes nothing.  I've reset my defaults using F12 when powering up but this does not work.  Any suggestions?

Two ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 TabletPCs will successfully boot into Windows 10 just fine from a hard poweroff.  But once in windows, if i choose Restart, it will hang at the "LENOVO" BIOS  level boot up logo with "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter".   Stuck at Lenovo BOOT BIOS initialization screen, right before handoff to the Operating System. "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter" At this point, pressing ENTER does not work.CTRL-ALT+DEL causes the screen to change shade for a moment, but effectively does nothing.Changing the UEFI settings to diagnostics results in black screen.Holding the power switch to force a poweroff, waiting a few moments, and then powering on results in a successful windows startup.  DevMGMT.msc does NOT see bluetooth and there is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" entry under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".  I have run all automatic updates via "Lenovo Vantage" and the manual TPM update.   I can boot into the firmware setup and have had it revert to factory defaults and reverted to factory defaults for all security settings.   I even tried the Win10 repair startup problems, but it says it cannot fix this.

A:ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen2 does not Restart, requires hard power off. Stuck at Lenovo boot logo.

It looks to me like you have a faulty hardware issue or a serious driver issue. Try the Lenovo recovery to put the device back to the factory windows install. If that fails, I would think you have a hardware issue.

Hi Dell Community - Any assistance would be most welcome.  Our 660S will only power up, fans running, dvd spins and lights checking for dvd, but no Dell logo, just a black screen.  I have done a Hard reset, I have removed the CMOS battery, replaced it with a new one after leaving it out overnight and powered up, same result, no Dell logo, just black screen.
I have tried F2 and also F12 during power up but can't get to any self diagnostic tools or reset or adjust bios.
Just now, after working on this for 2 days, it gave me a beep code of 5 counts with the power button flashing yellow.  I checked the CMOS battery again and restarted, no beeps, black screen, fans still run, but it powered itself off after roughly a minute and then powered back up right away and same black screen.
Any suggestions are welcome.  Thanks in advance!

Hi!I recently had to wipe my system and reinstall windows 10 on my Thinkpad L450. After the reinstall of windows, I had lost all of my Lenovo programs. Including the Lenovo Power Optimized power plan, which I really enjoyed using. Is there any way that I can get that power plan back?So far, I've tried to reinstall the Lenovo settings app, but it hasn't brought the power plan.I'm really hoping for an answer because the power plan gave me about 3 more hours of usage than the standard widnows power saver plan. Thank you in advance!Kind Regards,Jes

Went to turn on my Lenovo Ideapad Y410p laptop and nothing happened! No led lights with power source on and battery in. When I used it two days ago, I ran AVG and spy-bot and everything was fine. Used it a little bit and turned it off. Now nothing??? Did the power/battery disconnect with holding power button for 30 seconds... nothing. Both batteries 9 cell and 6 cell had full charge, tried my other Lenovo charger... no go. A surge couldn't have happened as the laptop is plugged into same strip as my other lenovo laptop is and that one is working fine.

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y410p won't power on... No power light?

Hi jack61 ,

Greetings.

We now know, power drain failed. No LED error codes , No beep codes
No activity lights even with battery charging led.
Not turning on even with known good charged batteries.
No power even with known good ac adapter.

What we can try:
Try plugging it directly on the wall and press novo key (number 1 page 7) to turn it on instead.
Check if the power port shows any signs of burnt / damage / looseness .
Press Novo key using a charged battery.
Remove battery, harddrive , memory and other accessories and plug directly with a known working adapter and or with a charged battery ( it should at least beep).

If all fails , you can have it checked for the motherboard issue with a technician (checking on the internals /cleaning or reseating parts connected to the board / applying thermal paste (for processor isolation) / checking on dc in board and port).

You can check for your warranty here and call in tech support for service.

Hi, I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 510-15IKB that has developed some issues.  I took it apart to replace a faulty fan module, and put it back together and started having issues with video to the display not working.  Took it apart again to reseat all cables and look at the display cable and its connection to the mainboard.  All looked fine... and the notebook started fine and I had the display working again.  Then after a power recycle lost the display again, so took the notebook apart again, and found that if I removed the main power to the mainboard and reconnected it I could get the display to come back, but only until I recycled the power to the computer again, then it was gone.  Decided to just live with the notebook display not working and just use an external display via the HDMI connector, which worked fine for a few days... then the notebook just shut off.  Now it will not power back up... the AC adapter is good, verified via multimeter, I have tired to power up the notebook with the battery disconnected, no-go, with it connected, no-go, I do not get a charge or power indicator at all anymore.  I think the notebook should power up with the internal battery disconnected, yes?  It does not.  I looked in the Lenovo maintenance manual, and these symptoms point to a bad mainboard.  I can't believe that it could be bad on such a new notebook.  The fan going bad after less than a year I can live with, but loosing the main... Hi everyone; this is my first post here. I purchased a T450 (Core i7/Nvidia Graphics/SSD) last September here in Korea and upgraded to Windows 10 shortly thereafter. For the last few months (not exactly sure when it started, but I think months after I upgraded) I've had 2 system problems that may be related. #1: In my Windows power settings the computer is set to NEVER sleep when the computer is plugged in, yet sometimes (and I'm never sure when) it goes to sleep after only one minute of inactivity.  I thought maybe it happened only when the battery was charging, but this is not the case.  Resetting seems to fix the problem. #2: When I attempt to open Lenovo Power Manager 8 the application crashes and can't open.  I need to use the task manager to end the program. Has anyone else had these problems?  I'd really appreciate some help on this. Regards,Chris

Okay so i got a couple problems with a Dell inspiron 6000.
Backlight was dim. Like extremely dim. I thought it was the inverter. Replaced it, no luck. It now is bright for a couple seconds then go more black....

I went to check the status of the battery and I get a 1 3 5 LCD blinking. Usually its 12345 full or 1 almost empty. or anywhere in between. Not every other.

Now on the LCD lights (Cyclinder light, battery light, and power light), the battery light blinks 4 times amber and 1 time green in a continuous cycle. Could a bad power supply be the culprit of the backlight issue?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a 2-3 Year old y50 and most of the time it stays plugged in. But on battery, as soon as I plug it out, the laptop screen shuts off. I have an external monitor and that stays fine, as well as if I plug the power out, the computer still registers the laptop screen. I bought it with Windows 8.1 and now have upgraded it to 10, but the problem came when I replaced the screen. Initially, it flickered on AC power removal, and I didn't think of it too much, but now its completely blank. I've tried to change power plans, set sleep on battery to never, and even the fn buttons.  I most likely think it is a problem from the laptop being at 50hz on battery while the monitor is still at 60hz. (In the monitor settings, it doesn't have an option to change the monitor hz.)Is there a potential solution I can use?

I have a problem with multiple windows 7 systems that i need a resolution for if possible.

Apparently there is a known fault with windows 7 where if you go to a powersave mode to turn the screen off, when the timer is reached and the screen should shutdown, the backlight for the screen remains on. I'm seeing this on 6 different systems all running the same version of Ultimate (Different CD keys, installed from a USB key after making a copy from an original Ultimate disc i bought, tho one machine used a different copy and still has the same problem).

I've looked around and apparently it's a known issue on Windows 7 that the backlight wont turn off when powersave is activated, has anyone got an actual fix for this? I've seen a few utilities around that turn the screen off properly for you, but they need to be manually turned on which defeats the purpose of a timer.

I have exactly the same issue. Unfortunately I have not yet found a fix though.

The screen was shutting down properly, backlight off fully etc, until I upgraded my graphics card about a week or so back. I had been running an nVidia 8800GT and with that card I never had an issue. Screensaver ran, then after the prescribed period the screen shut off completely.

I upgraded my GFX card to an ATI 5850, and also changed my Antec PSU for a beefier Nexus 630W item, and since then I have been having this problem. Screensaver runs, but instead of the screen fully powering down after the relevant time, it just goes black and the backlight remains lit.

I can only assume that the change of GFX card has somehow brought about the change, as it was fine up until then.

What kind/make of card are you running in your machine count123?

Hello,

Is it possible that you can test with another compatible PSU? I would strongly suggest doing so.

Also try the following steps:
?Make sure that the (internal) speaker is connected to the motherboard
?Remove all memory and attempt to boot the PC
?You should get the no memory beep errors

If the Power Supply is in working order and no beeps are present then it can be indicative of a faulty motherboard.

For troubleshooting purposes it may be a good idea to remove the components from the case and bench test to rule out a short.

My T450 always turns on keyboard backlight when I power-on the machine or even just wake it up from sleeping. I don't look at the keyboard at all, so I don't need this backlight; but worse, it just uselessly consumes some power from battery (I do work without AC quite often), and I might miss the fact that the backlight is on for hours of working on battery, that's pretty annoying. Is that intended behavior? Can this "feature" be turned off? I don't see any option in BIOS for that. Thanks

I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 running Vista 32bit.

I recently had a hard drive failure and reinstalled vista and all of my drivers. everything went well except for this issue with the backlight. on battery power I can control the backlight with Fn+up/down. however, once i plug it in, the backlight dims to the lowest setting and i can't change it. the brightness graphic still appears when i use Fn+up/down and the level on the bar changes, but it has no effect on the brightness.

I am 100% certain that it's not an issue with the backlight. I've tried reinstalling the drivers and getting the latest updates from Dell. the power management application also doesn't solve the problem. I have found a handful of other people describing the same problem using google, but no solutions.

I'm an engineer by trade and no stranger to problem solving, but I've spent too much time on this as it is and figured I have nothing to lose by posting here. can anyone give me a solution (or a cause)? any help would be much appreciated.

Has anyone with the 3k displays experienced half of the screen dimming and backlight flashing while on battery power? This is happening on my W540 when the battery reaches about 30%, it first started at about 50%. I ran the battery reset gauge which seems to postpone the issue until the battery is lower around the 30% (better now). This is not a Windows/driver issue because at about 5-6% it happens in bios.I am leaning towards a defective battery or LCD inverter which appears to be attached to the LCD itself.  Computer runs fine on AC and full battery I took the whole thing apart and checked cables, seems fine. Anyone else who has had this problem please help me with the solution, what to replace.  Thank you

I have a Toshiba 1110 Satellite and for some reason, the lcd backlight wont power on. When I start it up, I get the "Toshiba" splash screen and then the backlight shuts off. I can just barely see the windows desktop.

Heres the strange part, I plugged in an external monitor and then restarted, causing the lcd to light up perfectly. The screen will then stay on until the next time the monitor is shut off, then it's back to not working.

I already had the inverter replaced and that did not help and then the repair shop wanted 700 bucks for a new screen ( how those idiots figure that $700 is an economical quote for a 3 yr. old computer, I do not know )

Anyway, it seems that the screen works perfectly fine until I shut the it off. So I am kind of baffled as to why it wont power on unless I plug in an external monitor (????????). Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Just a side note: if I have to replace the screen, am I able to use any compatible 14.1" TFT? Because I heard that the compaq presario 1700 uses the same screen and there are quite a few on ebay for next to nothing.

Just a heads-up: I bought this Lenovo Yoga 13 Ideapad in 2013, so it's out of warranty. Proceed to read my problem..... I always get a black screen whenever I shut off my laptop and turn it back on again, which is why I lock my laptop instead. But when I DO lock it and get back on it the next morning, I encounter the Black screen of death and instead of my lockscreen immediately appearing like normal after I lock it and have left it overnight & try to get on it, I have to shut down my laptop and turn it back on because my laptop won't immedately take me to the lock screen so I can log into my computer.  Today (March 17, 2017), I had to shut down and turn on my laptop while pressing the rotation button button or the OneKey Recovery button (the button with a circle and a line going through it; I don't know exactly what it's called, but I think it's the recovery button OR the screen rotation button, on the right hand side of the computer: If anyone knows the name of this button, please let me know!)..I tried this 5 times and It wouldn't turn on. I have a strange issue. I have a Lenovo T60 laptop and I am experiencing problems with the power management/power guage.

It will often show the battery not installed (power gauge is a greyish-white color with dashed lines) or it shows a red X. It does not matter if I am on AC power or on Battery power, it will show the full range of power, battery level, not installed, or an error.

I have searched Lenovo's site and I seem to remember seeing an FAQ about this, but now that I need it, I cannot find it.

What can I check or do to stop this? While it is annoying, I am not sure if I am having a battery problem or not. I did check my battery on Lenovo's site to see if it was recalled and it is not.

I do appreciate any help that any one can give me.

My Yoga S1 has contradictory, intermittent power issues that I'm trying to chase down. Culprits are bad power bric/cord/plug or power socket on mother board or power board that feeds into power button/led on. One day it blacked out and wouldn't restart to hard drive or windows stage. I did get an error code which I can't remember 5100 or 5500 poss?, that seemed to indicate the power board or ribbons to that needed replacement or re-attachment. So fiddled with it and it did fire up in windows all ok. Then ran out of power and died again. power button wouldn't light up. plugging in power unit did light up led as getting charge. Left it overnight and then it miraculously charged up. pushed power button light up twice then nothing. took out power board/detached ribbon, then it fired up to windows, fixed some hd errors and has been restarting without problems. Except now there is no plug showing on battery icon when plugged in. So not recharging but I'm sure the battery is good. And logically, the power brick and plug must be feeding electricity into laptop to get it to recharge enough to start up. So power socket and plug may be suspect with intermittent contact problems. Or the power board somehow is involved in this? I've ordered a new powerboard as easy screw in and cheap. My question about powerboard is does this control ability of plug to charge battery? power brick with new plug is next order from ebay. but the power socket, which see... I'm having a problem with my y40-70 laptop When my laptop is running on battery power the screen's backlight is off. It works fine when it's plugged in.  The computer is still running, I can remote connect to it, play music, etc. If I look super close, with shining a light on the screen. I can see the screen working. I have gone into power settings, and nothing there helps. Any suggestions?

Hi there, Polly             -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today

Yes! It seems difficult to adjust brightness through key, however, there is a solution for that.
For Leveno Laptop G50

Click control Panel , click hardware and sound, then click power option, and then adjust screen brightness on the bottom, then restart the computer, after then try to adjust brightness through key...It will work out try it.

Update us how it goes.

Hello everyone,Last week's Wednesday I used my Lenovo G40-80 to do my college homework at the afternoon. It went all normally, I turned off the notebook and get to my college. At night, when I returned, I tried to turn on the notebook and was given the error when the system don't booted and both the led aside the camera and the fan turned on for almost two seconds and then turned off. After many attempts, and seeing some topics here, I tried to turn on my Lenovo using the recovery button. It worked, the system booted up normally. Problem is that the system gave video, but LCD backlight is off.I am very anxious about the possibility of being a software problem, giving the fact that the F9 key has a feature similar to the problem i'm suffering (LCD backlight on/off) and also the fact that if I connect my laptop into a TV or another screen via HDMI/Vga cables, video is showed nornally. I've done a video showing my problem and uploaded it on YouTube, here's the link:https://youtu.be/deGQw-88x68 Please, do someone has any answers to this problem? I have urgency to return using my computer, in order to continue to do my homeworks. Thanks in advance.

I have a home build computer, it worked for almost 4 years. However, after I installed a new software from creative lab "Zen", the display locked at the motherboard logo after reboot. Although the display says"press del to run set up" I couldn't start it. Does anybody know what may cause it, CPU?, BIOS? or something else?

A:Locked at motherboard logo at power on

Are there any external devices connected - specifically USB ? If so , try disconnecting them and then booting .
