I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Searched the forums but did not come up with this problem being posted here yet. so apologies if I missed it am repeating this.

I have a Windows 10 on my computer and recently acquired a copy of Office 2016 Professional through Hubby's work for a discount. However We have been trying for 3 days now to install it and it will not complete the installation. The most common problem being that it hangs at 90% and just sits there and won't progress any further even after being left over night.

I have tried posting this problem on the Microsoft Community boards but they have been less than helpful in finding a solution. Of the things they have suggested, I tried them all but to no avail. The suggestions they gave that I have tried are as follows:

"Follow these steps and download Office 2016 again:
First, check the type of internet connection you are using (Wired or Wireless)? If you are using a wireless connection then you may try to hardwire the connection.
Try downloading Office 2016 now and check if you are able to install Office 2016 normally.
In case the above step still does not work then follow these steps.

Stop the Print Spooler service from Services.msc.Disable the Anti-Virus/Security Software for a while, until you complete installing Office 2016.
Check if you are able to install Office 2016 now."

Nope didn't work, and my computer ishardwired. Next advice they gave was as follows and also didn't work:

Posting to help anyone with this issue. The recent (June 2018) T480 purchase included Microsoft Office 2016 Professional and Adobe Acrobat 2017.  Clear instructions were delivered with the product for downloading Acrobat 2017, but nothing regarding Office 2016.  After setting up the new laptop and downloading Acrobat, I could not get Acrobat to work.  Also, I was unable to synchronize my iPhone with the laptop.  On calling Adobe, I was told by the Adobe rep (who looked at my installed programs) that I did not have Office 2016 installed, but rather only the Office desktop apps (Outlook, Word, etc.), explaining why Acrobat would not work with the "Office" suite programs. I called Lenovo and the Lenovo rep could not resolve my issue even when I explained what Adobe had told me.  The rep transferred me to Microsoft.  The Microsoft interaction turned out to be similarly useless - the MS rep also not resolving the issue.  Two days later and after many hours of my trying to fix the problem, I realized that I could probably directly download the purchased Office 2016 software from Microsoft.  Indeed, this turned out to be the case (the Lenovo purchase was duly registered with Microsoft on laptop setup), and following the Office 2016 download, I was able to get the laptop fully functional with all third party apps (Adobe, iTunes, etc.).It would help if Lenovo in future similar purchase cases, provide clear instructions to the purchaser re: ... I have Onedrive cloud service through Microsoft office 2016/365. I don't use any of the Microsoft office progams, except for word and onedrive. I was wondering if there was a way to individually uninstall the programs I don't use or move all of it to onedrive to get it off my hard drive, as that seems to be whats taking up most of my space.

Hi cstull1217 Microsoft Office allows you to uninstall components separately. To do so, simply go in the Control Panel and uninstall Microsoft Office. It'll ask you if you want to uninstall Office, repair the installation, modify it, etc. Select the option to modify Office, and opt-out the ones you don't need before proceeding.https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Install-or-remove-individual-Office-2010-programs-and-components-aeb80df5-326c-4afc-8064-bd195f560753

Microsoft has already announced a ton of exciting stuff this week, but the company isn't done yet. Today, it announced that the next version of its fully-featured Office suite of desktop PC applications will be called Office 2016.

Microsoft has been testing the new version of Office internally with a handful of its key partners. Images that leaked last year suggest the new release won't rock the boat too much in terms of design, although customers can expect to see a range of new features and improvements.

The company said today that it "will have more to share on Office 2016 in the coming months", confirming its earlier promise of releasing the new applications "in the second half of 2015" ? perhaps coinciding with the launch of Windows 10, which is expected around the same time.

Although Microsoft did not publicly show its new Office 2016 desktop applications this week, it did unveil its new suite of touch-friendly Office apps for Windows. As with the touch-optimized Office apps on Android and iOS, they lack the complete feature set of the desktop applications, but they still offer many of the features that users need most often for creating, editing and sharing documents.

As Universal Windows apps, they'll be available not just on Windows 10 PCs, notebooks, and tablets, but also on smartphones. Microsoft shared a few images of the Office touch apps for Windows 10 today, showing how they'll look on handsets and devices with l... Read more

The mouse snap-to feature I am referring to is this: "When enabled, this setting causes the mouse pointer to snap-to the default button of the active application window."

I have a Windows 7 desktop that I used Microsoft Office 2007 on for a number of years. The mouse snap-to feature worked with Office 2007 as well most (probably all) other applications. Last year I upgraded the Windows 7 desktop to Microsoft Office 2016 only to find the mouse snap-to feature does not function with the newer office suite.

Late last year I bought a new Windows 10 desktop computer and installed Microsoft Office 2016 on it. The mouse snap-to feature works on most (probably all) of the applications on this newer computer except . . . you guessed it . . . Microsoft Office 2016.

Is there a way to enable/disable the mouse snap-to function in Microsoft Office 2016? Is there a way to activate it in Office? Does the mouse snap-to function work for other users in Microsoft Office 2016?

Thanks.

If all else fails, try this:
Log on to the computer by using an Administrator user account.
Start Microsoft Windows Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
Click to clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box, and then click OK.
Open the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\
Right-click Opa11.dat, and then click Properties.
Click the Security tab.
Click Advanced.
Click the Permissions tab.
Click to select Everyone in the Permission entries list, and then click Edit.

You might try searching the registry for the install location for that software. If you don't have the CD, you should have gotten it from whoever sold it to you. There are many reasons why you should have the CD's for the OS as well as all applications.

I presently have this installed but am upgrading to 2007. Do I need to uninstall 2002 first or will the installation of 2007 just override 2002?

In particular, I want to keep all the info I have stored in Outlook. I'm happy enough with 2002 but I keep getting Window Installer pop ups each time I open Outlook asking me to install the disc. I have no idea where it is. I assume it's lost!

BTW, if anyone knows how I can stop that annoying pop up then I am happy to keep 2002.

A:Microsoft Office XP Professional 2002

When you go to install Office 2007 it will ask if you want to overwrite the versions installed or if you want to install it side by side.

Outlook is the one exception program. It will want to overwrite the program.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179084.aspx

Upgrading from an earlier version of Outlook
You can install Office Outlook 2007 over any previous installation of Outlook. As in other 2007 Office system applications, user settings stored in the registry are migrated. If a MAPI profile already exists on a user's computer, you typically can configure your deployment to continue to use the profile. However, if you are upgrading from an Internet Mail Only (IMO) installation of Outlook 2000 or earlier, you might need to re-create user profiles.

Note:
Office Outlook 2007 cannot coexist with previous versions of Outlook on the same computer. If you determine that users need a previous version, do not install Office Outlook 2007.
When you upgrade users from an earlier version of Outlook, you must make choices about configuring user profiles, consider Cached Exchange Mode issues, and be aware of fax and forms changes.Click to expand...
As you can see it does mention it tries and hold on to all the information. I would back it all up just in case....

And it gives me absoloutely no preview or notice or error code of what the actual error was.

Strange to have problems after installation. In case you haven't done it:
Run Outlook.
Tools > Options > Mail format.
Check the format dropdown for whatever you want, I suspect plain text.
Next two checkboxes which refer to two possible Word2003 formats should be unchecked.

Why 2003? 2007 offers A LOT more and also allows people to open the new "x" documents from office which are common these days. My wife, who is a school teacher, has been notified by her school they have an arrangement under which Microsoft are offering the school's staff a discount on Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus from c.£300 to £6.15, which is rather dramatic discount by the generous Mr Gates by anyone's standards. As we currently use Office in an earlier version, this is an attractive offer. My immediate reaction was to worry that we would need to upgrade to Windows 7 (we currently use Vista), but Microsoft have anticipated my concern by offering us copies of 7 as well, also at £6.15. I was wondering if anyone can see any problems with this offer. So is this a case of 'not looking a gift horse in the mouth' or are there hidden problems?

A:Microsoft Office Professional 2010

Sounds all fine to me. Companies are often generous with school systems. Future customers are among the users.

But is is not at all necessary to use Windows 7 to use the new office. On the other hand, it is a deal that you may not see again and an upgrade from Vista should proceed smoothly since they have the same kernel.

(Eventually, even gift horses may need dental work. It isn't really a "gift" if you need to shell out for new dentures.)

Can anyone tell me where I can get an easy to understand tutorial for the above - online and free (if one exists please) thanks

A:microsoft office professional 2003

I wouldn't worry too much about the tutorials being for 2003. Most tutorials cover the simple things, which haven't changed since the beginning of software. I've been able to find lots of tutorials by doing a Google search. It's just a matter of how you type your search criteria. Try this, and USE THE QUOTES how I show them:

"free tutorial" Microsoft Word

Then, change Word to Excel, then change Excel to PowerPoint, and so on...

Microsoft believes we are living in a mobile first, cloud first world, which sounds good, I guess, but what does that really mean in a practical business setting? The answer may surprise you, especially if you rely on Microsoft Access and you fail to choose your Office 365 subscription very carefully.

I remember MS dropping Access out of Office 97 and beyond.  John, thanks for the heads-up!

I'm planning to reinstall windows 10 and I know that it will remove Windows updates etc. Will it also remove Microsoft Office 2016 updates? Thanks

A:Will Reinstalling Windows 10 affect Microsoft Office 2016 updates?

That depends on how you plan on reinstalling Windows 10.

Do it this way and you lose everything, including all your data files and Office 2016 completely, including updates. You will have to reinstall everything:
Windows 10 - Clean Install - Windows 10 Forums

Do it this way, and you only refresh Windows 10 itself and nothing else should be affected, including Office 2016:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

Hello,

I have a problem installing MS Office Professional 2007.

Here are the details:
1. HP dv4-4141us laptop computer
2. Running Windows 7
3. I bought and downloaded Microsoft Office Professional 2007. Includes Access, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Publisher, Word --- all 2007 versions
4. The software downloaded alright.
5. When I then clicked on MS Office Excel 2007 in "All Programs", it started configuring it.
6. After configuration was done, Setup window popped up, "In order to complete setup, a system reboot is necessary. Would you like to reboot now?"
7. I clicked on Yes, and a window opened up saying: "1 program still needs to close: Waiting for Microsoft Office Professional 2007. This program is preventing Windows from restarting." The options were "Force Restart" or "Cancel".
8. I then clicked on "Cancel" and the following error message popped up:
"Error 1719: The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
9. I then clicked on "OK" and got another message:
"MS Office Excel 2007 has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application."
10. I then clicked on "OK" and the message went away.

Installation of MS Office 2007 or MS Office 2010 does not require a system reboot. Where did you "download" this from?

Hi all
It last few weeks I have add this extremely frustrating problem with office in general. When trying to save a document whether it be in word, excel, access, PowerPoint. When I go to “click save as”. Some timed it will save find other times it won’t and get this message when I have just click the save button

'Microsoft Word* has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.' or 'Microsoft Word* is restarting. Word is attempting to recover your documents. Please wait while Word restarts.'

Then when word does restart and has recovered the document that you where working on, it still won’t let you save it and will crash again given the same message as above.
I have also noticed when “save as box” opens the grey bar at the top which should have
Name Data modified etc
Mine has the first letter when you try drag it over to see the name in full it also crashes
Have tried
· Uninstalling Office running c cleaner reinstalling office
· Disabling any Add-ons in all Office programs
· Running Diagnostics (Sys it fix problem with the installation )
· Restoring computer to before the problematic period (no date before crashes was available)
· Deleting/renaming HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Office\Word\Data &/or \Options
Currently running
A paid for version of Microsoft office professional plus 2007 on windows vista business
an anyone suggest a workable solutio... Read more

You must activate Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013. This wizard will guide you through the Activation process.... If you choose not to activate at this time, you may run the software for 1 more day before the product becomes unlicensed. Click Help for more information."

Clicking on NEXT leads to a https://support.office.com website article that says in part, "If you don't have a current subscription, you must buy a new Office 365 subscription, or make a one-time purchase of Office." This sure sounds to me like some kind of ransom-ware. In early October 2015 I upgraded from Office 2007 by purchasing, downloading and installing Office 2013 just after I upgraded to Windows 10 64-bit. I do still have the Product Registration Key in a file on my computer, so you would think that I do not need to purchase another one, even if I am not subscribed to Office 365. Does anyone have any adv... Read more
