Dell u2413 Monitor not recognized by Dell Display Manager or Dell Ultrasharp Calibration Solution

Q: Dell u2413 Monitor not recognized by Dell Display Manager or Dell Ultrasharp Calibration Solution

Bought a X-rite i1 display calibrator to be able to hardware calibrate my Dell u2413 Monitor but there seems to be a communication problem with win 10 even though there is a win 10 driver installed for the monitor. Is there a solution to this for win 10? Otherwise I don't have much us of the x-rite since im not interested in software calibration...
Plz help?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

You might get a better response if you re-post this in the Monitors forum.
Be sure to mention the PC model and the video port being used when you post over there.

I have a new Dell XPS 8900 connected to a Dell U2413 monitor using the HDMI to mini-HDMI cable.  When I switch off the monitor (to save the screen and energy), the PC jumps into an unrecoverable power saving mode, shutting down all open applications in doing so.  The mouse and keyboard lock up.  The only way to restart the PC is to press the power button for several seconds (hard reboot).   This began happening recently.  What can be done to fix?

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help? I have an Alienware X51 R3 with a Dell U2413 monitor. The monitor itself started turning on and off every now and then on its own and it was okay for a while but recently it has been doing that every 5mins or so and I have to wait at least a minute before it will turn itself back on.
Any help regarding this would be much appreciated!

I have read an article in one of the forums already on this but it did not answer my question. I have Default Monitor in my display settings under monitor I cannot access prperties as it is greyed out. Also in device manager no monitor is recognised. I also have re downloaded the monitor drivers from the dell website but cannot fully install us I am instructed to go through the monitor tab properties which I cannot access, is there other ways to undo the default monitor and help my pc locate my monitor. The main reason for this is to adjust screen resolution, and I have tried all the manual ways through display properties. I have a small understanding of PC's and I'm learning as I go so not to technical if you can help it.

My new monitor arrived today but I cannot connect it with the cables enclosed. My old Inspiron 580 was bought in 2010 and my old monitor used the VGA socket.
The cables supplied with the new monitor are USB 3.0 upstream cable and a DP to mDP cable. There doesn't seem to be a mDP socket on my desktop so how can I connect the monitor?
My first question to the Dell sales person was "Would this new monitor be compatible with my old Inspiron 580 desktop i.e., regarding connectivity?"  He said Yes it would.
Any help would be much appreciated - but not too technical please.

I want to switch between 2 laptops onto a DELL E178FPc Monitor (which is VGA input only).  The Laptops are a DELL E6410 -VGA out only, running Win7    and  a DELL Inspiron 5000 series machine -HDMI output, running Win10.
I have tried to achieve this using a KVM switch (the ATEN CS22U, non-powered). It claims to be Win7 compliant.
When I connect it to the E6410's VGA port and then in to the Monitor it says 'no signal detected'. Subsequent research would suggest that even if I were to somehow get a display through the KVM switch it will be lost as soon as you switch to the other laptop (!).
I have come to believe through research on the web that the E6410 Laptop will only work with a VGA monitor being directly connected to its port, or an alternative (powered) KVM Switch with so called Active-DDC (whatever that is!) may also work.
Needless to say I have exhausted my tech knowledge on this one.
Can anyone offer further advice or recommend a solution?

I have just gotten my 3415W screen and so far its quite itneresting experience. Few issues I have are:

I have 5 screens + 3415W.
When I drag a window to the edge of screen A (that is not 3415W) I can no longer maximize half size of the window. In the past if I dragged it to edge of screen the window would just take 50% of screen. If I drag it to top it goes 100% etc etc. DDM seem to be dissabling that critical windows feature.

Can we pelase get it back ?

Ignore below found out the custom button!
Further more the spacing of pre-made layouts do not really work for me. Is there a way to specify custom layouts and their sizes?

Also when I click>drag window. There is a 0.5 second lag. Can we get rid of that lag please? Have the dell position drop down overlay drop in a separate process so it don't affect our windows experience?

Another issue I have is that not all window are detected. If I start Maya and open hypershade its a separate window from main window. It would be great if DDM can recognise those windows. Or if I can manually add them in...

Hopefully some of the things above could be addressed and corrected? Its a nice DDM application but bit counter productive at the moment! Please tweak it :- )

A:Dell Display Monitor Manager - Issues

Further more if I just want to drag an window over the desktop and NOT want to stick to any of the layouts... can we just have an option to do :
Left click & Hold> Drag to new position > Right click to drop window without snapping it to any of the layouts? Or give us a hotkey option to specify what key we want to press... I have lots of buttons :- )

I have to remove the ac power so that the laptop should start using battery instead of ac power. Dell says the optimum is 60 for refresh rate, but says highest it can go is 75, so why not just use 75? why keep it at 60? can someone enlighten me on the subject? i'm kinda new to lcd's and all their goodness.

So the story goes that I have a dell ultrasharp U2414h monitor which been working great since I bought it, and recently I moved to a brighter apartment and I realized there is a stuck pixel on the monitor, and I realized the monitor comes with "Premium Panel Guarantee" as stated on the website throughout all the ultrasharp series, So i called up technical support, spoke with TWO basic support agents and ONE senior service technician, all three of them just keep asking for the service tag or service code which I don't have at all on the monitor, I provided them with the S/N on the back of monitor and their answers were "according to industry standard you need to have minimum 5 or more dead pixels in order to qualify for an exchange" . So since when did ultrasharp premium panel guarantee downgrades and inline with the industry standard? then I went ahead and ask for a supervisor and I got a senior service tech which says my monitor only has one year  warranty, the premium panel guarantee and advanced exchange service (stated on dell website) are EXTRA features that you need to purchase. So according to the website I read to the tech as follow:

Premium Panel Guarantee. The Dell Premium Panel Guarantee allows a free panel replacement during the Limited Hardware Warranty period even if only one bright pixel is found.
Advanced Exchange Service. Your Dell monitor comes with a 3-year Advanced Exchange  Service2 so that,... Read more

The culprit seems to be the hardware acceleration enabled in the Intel HD driver. But, I have yet to find a way to disable it universally across the Windows 10 operating system.
For Office software =* Start any Office program* On the File tab, click Options* In the Options dialog box, click Advanced* In the list of available options, add a check to, "Disable hardware graphics acceleration"* Click OK
For all other software, you will need to check into their specific settings.

Hi there. I bought a Dell Inspiron 17R-5720 back in September 2012, and have been having this issue pretty much since I bought it from Amazon. The computer is running Windows 7 64 Bit, 6 GB RAM, Intel Core i5-3210M @ 2.50 GHz. I have Microsoft Security Essentials installed and run scans regularly.

Pretty much what happens is that the screen will turn to colored static, and the computer will be unresponsive. In order to make the machine usable again the power button must be held down and the computer restarted. The odd thing about it is that it almost always happens when I am in the process of moving the laptop from one place to another. For example moving the computer from my lap to the table next to me. It has happened once or twice when I just touched the computer while it was on the table next to me. A few times the screen just turned black.

Since it is still under warranty, I called Dell support and they sent out a technician, who didn't seem to do any sort of troubleshooting. He replaced the motherboard and the LCD display. This of course did not fix the problem, so I called Dell again. This time, they had me send the computer to them. They received and sent it out the very same day, again, it doesn't seem that they did any real troubleshooting. When the same malfunction cropped up again, I of course called Dell and they said that when they received the laptop there was some sort of cable inside that was "loose", so the connected this cable and sen... A:Dell Laptop, Display Turns to Static/System Freezes, Dell Can't Fix

The technician Dell sent came to my house today. He replaced the motherboard (again), the LCD screen (again), and the hard drive. Fast forward five hours later, and guess what? The problem still hasn't been fixed. I just got off the phone with Dell support, of course their first suggestion was to send the computer in again and have them "fix" it. It took about an hour of going back and forth being on hold/arguing before they finally said they would "elevate" my case and and have someone call me on Monday to discuss it. I think I've given them plenty of chances to solve this, now I just want a replacement computer. Though with their track record, I'm not holding my breath. I'm even doubting that I'll get a phone call.

Does anyone think that this is power supply related? Not the power cord itself (I've used two different cords), but whatever is inside that powers the system. Sorry, I'm not that computer savvy.

Hi guys,
My display has been working fine so far, suddenly from today my internal display doesn't work. I've restarted many times, downloaded all the latest DELL updates for the DELL XPS 13 laptop, it doesn't seem to do the trick. I do see the DELL splash screen before it just goes dark and nothing can be seen. With an external monitor I get to see everything I would expect to see, i.e. login to Windows as usual. Once I remove the external USB-C cable, used for the display, I'm plunged back into darkness. If I restart in safe mode (Network), the internal display works again, so it can't be a hardware issue. There is something wrong with the drivers, maybe caused through a Windows Update, I don't know. Help would be appreciated, I need to be able to work without the external monitor.

I am picking up the XPS 15 this week and currently have two P2815Q monitors I am using with the Microsoft Surface Book.  Currently these are connected to the Surface Book via a single mini-display port cable with the 2rd 4K connected to the first via mini-display port.
So my question is how do I connect these monitors to the XPS 15.  I understand the XPS has Thunderbolt and a single HDMI 1.4 port.  While HDMI 1.4 is not capable of driving 4K at 60hz, I'm also wondering what the new Dell Dock is going to bring to the game here.

Hi everyone,
I have a new hardware:

Dell XPS13 (9360) with Thunderbolt 3
Dell U3417W 34" monitor  (3440x1440 px)

I have prepared everything on my table because I had no idea that new Dell only has Thunderbolt 3 and no mini display port. I was kind of surprised (in a bad way) that I will need another reduction.
The problem is that I can only input display port, mini display port and HDMI into the new Dell U3417W monitor. I am not sure how much resolution I can squeeze from HDMI, so what is left are those display ports.
Should I buy USB-C -> Display port cable like for e.g. Startech USB Type-C to Displayport cable, 1m (CDP2DPMM1MB) which could possibly do the job? Or perhaps even some Thunderbolt 3 cable?
I need to have 3440x1440 px @ 60 Hz where some of those cables support only @30 Hz and they do not explicitly state that 3440x1440px resolution is supported.
I would rather avoid those bugged Dell docking stations where the whole internet (e.g. Amazon) is snowed by users complaints.
Thanks in advance for any help!

A:Dell Vostro 3750 with Dell U2515H monitor resolution problem

The U2515H HDMI in port can do up to 2560x1440 60Hz. But the U2515H does not dictate the resolution. That is done by the capabilities of the laptop GPU video card. The 2011 Vostro 3750 HDMI out must be limited to 1920.

We're encountering scrolling issues with Excel 2013 (and 2016).
What we mean by that is graphic distortions (blocks of black) appearing on the worksheet during the scroll action.
It happens almost exclusively on the externally attached monitor.
Even after the scrolling action is finished the blocks of blacks will persist and will obscure the data in the cells. Generally only opening the worksheet anew will correct the issue (until scrolling is once again initiated)
This is on a new Dell XPS 15 (9550) running Windows 10.The monitor is a Dell U2717D connected via the HDMI.
We've done quite a bit of troubleshooting but before describing in detail we wanted to know if anybody had seen something similar?

Hi, I can't seem to get anything higher than 1920x1080 in the list of available resolution options when I connect my Dell U2713HM monitor to my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I've run this monitor at 2560x1440 on another laptop over HDMI in the past but that was with Windows 8. The Intel HD Graphics 530 Control Panel doesn't offer any resolutions above 1920x1080 for the external monitor and adding custom resolutions results in the error "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I'm using the same high speed HDMI cable that worked at 2560x1440 with this monitor on my previous laptop. I'm fully up to date on all of the drivers for the laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a Windows 10 issue? Should I try the standard Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers from the Intel website?

As the subject suggests, I have a Dell Precision M3800.  I have always used dual monitor with no issue.
My previous screen was an old Samsung 23 Inch (don't know the model exactly) and connected via Mini DP to HDMI.  Worked a dream.
Manage to find a buyer and though - "Let me upgrade - get a Dell Monitor - Dell plays well with Dell".
So got the Dell E2416H Monitor - with a Min DP to DP cable - for the past month I have not been able to fix an issue where by the screen does not refresh itself when you type or a sql comand finishes processing - just looks like it's still process even though it completed minutes ago - but the screen did not refresh the basics of what a monitor should display.
This is such an irritating that I have even gone to the extent of buying a USB 3 docking station and running through DisplayLink - with joy.
Please let me know if someone has a solution that differs from my all my colleagues - their advice is to go buy a Samsung monitor.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop.  Recently, I bought a Dell Ultrasharp monitor U2412M to attach to my laptop to have an ergonomic home office.   My knowledge of computers/hardware is pretty... rudimentary.
24"1920 x 1200Nice adjustable stand1x DVI-D port, 1x display port, 1x VGA port, 1x USB 2.0 upstream port, 4x USB downstream ports
I use my computer for writing documents, internet surfing, and rarely for watching tv.  Eventually, I will buy a lighter and newer laptop, but probably not for a year or two.
I think I bought the wrong monitor....  I was hoping to buy something to use now, that will last, and that will work with any future laptop I buy.
My monitor just arrived.  I connected it to my laptop with the VGA cable (my laptop doesn't have DPI or HDMI input).  It worked, but the picture didn't look.... very good.
It is my understanding that VGA connections are the worst quality.  Can I use an ?adapter to connect to the VGA cable to access the DVI-D port on the monitor?  Or is this the best I can get?  I'm not even sure what ?video cards are, or whether I need one of these.
I also looked up the specs on my old laptop and it says the specs of my laptop screen are
1366 x 768 pixel
So is this the limit of what an attached monitor can be?

Any input appreciated.  Thanks.

I must say this monitor works great. But with certain rhythm music games I play I get input lag with DVI. I was wondering if it was possible to have both DVI and VGA/S-Video hooked up, and be able to switch between the two. For some reason this is not working for me the monitor loses the signal whenever I switch to any video mode other than DVI. I'm running 2x NVidia 8600 GT's, both have 2 DVI inputs and 1 svideo, totalling 4 DVI and 2 SVideo inputs on my PC. I have a DVI, S-Video Cable and a VGA cable.

The input lag is getting irritating and I'm assuming running it with the VGA plug would solve this problem. I've even tried switching the resolution down to 800x600 before switching to VGA but to no avail.

Any help will be much appreciated.

EDIT: Btw the only way I can plug in with the VGA cable is via a VGA-DVI converter. It worked perfectly for my 17" Envision CRT I had before I bought this.

If you want to run at 4K resolution and the typical 60 Hz refresh rate, you only have a few options:

If you go with the latter, make sure the adapter specifically mentions HDMI 2.0, as not all USB-C adapters support that.  Also, adapters that include display outputs AND other features like Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 ports, etc will specifically NOT work.  To run 4K @ 60 Hz over regular USB-C, the entire port has to be dedicated to pushing display traffic.  If the adapter you connect wants to send USB-type traffic as well, your available display bandwidth gets cut in half, so you'd only be able to run 4K @ 30 Hz or 1440p @ 60 Hz, for example.
- Thunderbolt 3 to Dual DisplayPort adapter.  Each of the DisplayPort outputs will have enough bandwidth for 4K @ 60 Hz, and yes you can even use two such displays simultaneously if you wanted.
- A TB16 dock, with the display connected to the dock via either Mini DisplayPort, DisplayPort, or HDMI. The dock can support up to dual displays up to 4K @ 60 Hz and even some triple-display configurations as long as their total bandwidth requirements aren't too high. The other benefit to the dock of course is that you can connect a bunch of other peripherals to the dock and still have only a single cable that connects to your PC, and the dock would even be able to charge the laptop via that one cable, so you wouldn't even need to connect the regular AC adapter.  But a... Hi all,
I'm interested in your strategies for getting updates for your Dell laptops.
When I got my XPS 15, I subscribed to the Technical Updates service, to receive emails about updates.
That was before I realised my laptop came with the Dell Update application, which advises me of updates via notifications.
I was a bit uncomfortable having two sources of updates. Am I wasting bandwidth downloading the same update twice? Am I overwriting a newer update from one source with an older update from the other source? etc
And I've recently had the SupportAssist 'plugin' installed. Lo and behold, it's Drivers and Downloads section is also suggesting updates.
Do I need all three of these?
I'm tempted to unsubscribe from the emails, uninstall SupportAssist, and just rely on Dell Update. Am I going to miss any important updates if I do this?
Thanks for your help.

The power circuit is over loaded.  Compressor motor kicks in and drops line voltage below what minimum is to run.  Either get an ups or move to another outlet not on the same circuit.
