X1 Extreme and P27H Monitor Compatibility Issues

Q: X1 Extreme and P27H Monitor Compatibility Issues

I have multiple offices that i work from. My ideal setup is to work from a desk with a large monitor, keyboard, speakers and printer but carry my laptop from location to location. I chose the P27h monitor because it has USB-C connectivity. My understanding when I purchased this monitor and computer setup was that I could place my closed computer in a vertical stand, connected to power and usb-c to the monitor, and use the monitor as a hub to run a few other peripherals. At most, this is a wireless mouse and keyboard (logi), a set of powered desktop speakers, and in some cases a printer. Essentially, I thought I had a dock and monitor all in one. I seem to have issues at start up, and intermittent freezing/latency issues during usage. At startup, if the monitor has been left on it has issues connecting the video. In other words, my peripherals will work, but even with the laptop open sometimes I can't extend my monitor. I have the proper power settings (i believe) to close my laptop and continue to run. This works on one of my monitors but not on the other. Depending on which monitor I'm plugging into, I get different results as to whether the video works and how i get it to work. Once working, it functions well but there are freezing issues that I don't think are a function of the computer. Am I asking too much of the P27H monitor? Should i not have considered this a docking station? Any settings I should double check/procedures to follow to make this work? Thanks for the input.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi All Recently our company purchase a bulk of x1-carbon and P27h-10 monitors. However we are expericing issues when we try to connect the laptop back to the monitor after some time. It does not wake up from the power saving mode. Even restarting the laptop does not solve this issue. We need to keep restarting multiple times and by chances it will be detected. This happens only with the x1-carbon laptops and we have no issues with other brand laptops like Dell. Just to note we have already update the firmware and drivers for the x1-carbon. The Lenovo on-site engineer have also replcace out display ports and motherboard of the notebook but the problem still exist till date.

Hi everyone, I just bought a ThinkPad X1 Etreme and would like to add a second SSD. As I only use it for storing data, I want to opt for a cheaper SATA based one, as these are also supported. Which M.2 keys are supported on the X1E: B-key, M-key or B&M-key?I would assume that B&M would work, but I am not sure whether there is a downside compared to get the right fit B- or M-key. The option I was looking at was this: http://www.crucial.com/ProductDisplay?urlRequestType=Base&catalogId=10151&categoryId=&productId=2429...Would this one work? Any help is much appreciated :-)

I recently purchased am Asus Rampage III Extreme mobo for my first enthusiast build in several years, and I have some questions about which memory its compatible with.

On newegg, the specifications state that these frequencies will work: DDR3 2200(O.C.) / 2133(O.C.) / 2000(O.C.) / 1800(O.C.) / 1600 / 1333 / 1066.

Does that mean that I can put DDR2200 memory in that mobo, or that I can overclock DDR1600 up to 1800, 2000, 2133, or 2200?

Thanks for your help!

A:Asus Rampage III Extreme memory compatibility

The overclock RAM bandwidth is dependant upon overclocking the CPU for the most part since CPU and RAM frequency are linked by fixed divider ratio's. Overclocking RAM is usually a by-product of overclocking the CPU.
If you are looking to get the RAM to DDR3-1866+ speeds you should be looking for a faster kit. DDR3-1600 in general will not reach past 1900 for the most part*- if it did then it would be sold as a faster kit.
Buying a DDR3-2000 kit (for example) gives supposed headroom for overclocking, plus has the standard JEDEC RAM profiles embedded within it (DDR3-1066, -1333, -1600) for operating with a non-overclocked CPU. This range of utilisation (along with the higher speed bin) is why faster kits sell for a premium.

* This is assuming the RAM is not over-volted. While the Core i7/i5 CPU's have a maximum memory voltage of 1.875v ( Intel spec pdf Table 2-6, pg.22), I believe any CPU damage that occurs using a voltage over Intel's 1.65v recommendation is not covered by warranty.

We bought Lenovo P27h USB-c screens to go with our Thinkpad P1 laptops so that we could use the monitor as a simple dock providing (slow) charging and a USB hub as well as the display. Unfortunately I haven't been able to make the charging work at all. When I connect the USB-c cable the charging icon flickers on but immediately off again. Has anybody had any success making this combination work? Thanks!, Geoff

A:Charging the P1 from the P27h over USB-c

The P1 simply requires a bigger charger.  The maximum that can be delivered over the USB-C spec is 100W

I just bought a Thinkpad X1 Extreme 4k, and I'm looking for a portable monitor to expand screen space for work while traveling.  Does anyone have any suggestions on a portable monitor?  I was looking at the Asus Zenscreen MB16AC, but was wondering if there would be a drastic difference in screen display?  I assume with this monitor I wouldn't need any other devices (I could plug the USB-C directly into the Thinkpad and that would be the power source). Thanks in advance!

After some assistance last year from "Oh My", my computer is in much better shape.  However, we were not able to finish.  I moved to the country, and didn't have internet for months - hence, the thread was closed.
Since then, I've tried wiping the computer through recovery mode (failed and lost the recovery disc), and tried updating to Windows 10 in hopes the issues would be washed away (cannot complete the full Windows update.  This may be due to the fact my computer thinks it's not running Genuine Windows, albeit official Windows bought.)  I would prefer to save the thousands of photos this computer and wipe the rest of the computer, but remain timid to upload the photos to a USB or cloud as a jpeg virus was confirmed last year.  As a sidenote, I do have a drivers and utilities disc that I used to fix the drivers last week.

So I've been fumbling around this issue trying to just ignore it for some time now, but for some reason I just can't figure it out now. I have gradually been getting worse and worse video lag issues in games and it gets really annoying in faster paced games like Left 4 Dead 2 and other FPS games. I have come to find even this simple game "slender" to be completely unplayable as I get MAYBE 1-2 fps. And I can't figure out what is wrong, it didn't used to be like this, back when I first got this computer up and running it rand most games at 60fps. Left 4 dead, counter-strike, modern warfare 2. I have a little windows widgit thing that tells me the current state of my video card, and recently it's been telling me that it's almost ALWAYS clocked back to 300mhz, when it should be running at 900mhz when under load. It almost never goes up to 900, and when it does, it dials back to 300 or 775 in like 2 seconds. I don't know what to do, any help would be appreciated.

My HP G61 laptop running x64 Windows 7 home premium has a connection problem.
All applications except for Internet Explorer 9 cannot connect to the internet.
For example I installed Skype a while ago and it will never stop signing in unless I close from task manager.

(And yes, I have tried allowing both programs through my firewall.)
So, is there any way in where I can completely reset my Internet connection settings.
This laptop has a 2.10 Ghz processor and without being able to use Skype or Chrome this laptop is useless.
Thank you very much for your time,

The following file will reset your network stack, reset winsock, flush the DNS, reset and renew the IP etc. your machine will also reboot automatically,.

I'm not sure what the problem might be but resetting the network stack is a good place to start, if you are still having problems after the reset please post the ipconfig/all from this machine.

Hey, I reformatted my Hard Drive today and put Windows XP Professional Service Pack Two on it. I have extreme lag and stability issues which I have never experienced in the past with Windows XP. How could such a thing happen right after reinstalling Windows XP? I can't install applications and sometimes I can't even open something up, because it will just stop responding and my system will crash and I will have to reboot my computer. This happens 5- minutes after I login (if I am very lucky, 5 - 10 minutes). Below is my computer hardware configuration:

Pentium 3 800 MHz processor
256 mb RDRAM
ATI Radeon 9550 AGP (256 mb)
Sound Blaster Live!

Any other information will be provided upon request. Is there anything that I can do to solve this problem?

I purchased an X1 Extreme (4K) a few months ago. I have run into a few issues and was hoping I could get some advice. For reference, I have observed these issues across multiple different Windows versions, GeForce driver versions, and Lenovo BiOS versions. I am happy to answer any follow-up questions in the comments. 1.When I have hybrid graphics enabled, I have observed significant stutter when scrolling in applications such as Google Chrome, Spotify, and more, especially when opening PDFs in Chrome. Turning off hybrid graphics resolves fixes this, but I was wondering if there was another option I had other than compromising my battery life by disabling hybrid graphics.2.When I keep the TrackPoint enabled, it occasionally begins moving the cursor on its own and keeps going for a few seconds, with no apparent way to regain control until it stops. While I can fix this by just turning off the TrackPoint, I enjoy using it and would like to know if there is a different solution to this issue. Thank you in advance!

My laptop is a Compaq Presario F504EA. I have had an external 19" LCD Monitor running sometimes in parallel and sometimes independantly with the laptop. It has its own Power supply, and is only connected to the laptop through a VGA cable.

I was wondering if this could cause the laptop to extremely overheat. With this, the laptop would be un touchable on the bottom side due to extreme heat.

I had also recently upgraded my ram from 1 to 2GB. Would this of had an effect on the heat aswell ?

It is currently in repair due to my keyboard being intermittent along with my wireless; i believe the heat as melted joints or something on the motherboard.

A:External Monitor, extreme heat issue

when was the last time you spray dusted the laptop, that should help the heat issue. but adding more ram should not cause any more than normal heat, the extra monitor might cause more heat cause of the extra power going through the video card, but it should not make it untouchable.

i would try to spray dust the vents and also check to make sure all the fans are working.

I am looking into the X1 Extreme and was wondering if it's possibile to  connect 2 4K monitors to one Type-C connector. X1 Extreme Type-C ==> Monitor #1 (DP Out) ==> Monitor # 2 The P27h Monitor seems to be able to do so, but I want to be sure that the X1 Extrement will extend to Monitor #1 and extend again to monitor #2 (and not mirror #1 to #2) Also, if this is possible, will the X1 Extreme get it power from the Type-C and will the monitors USB port be functional ?

upon switching the power switch on the psu, the ROG light, and 2 molex powered cathodes lit up, 140mm fan at top of antec 900 was "twitching" the rog light usually pulses at this point as well as a few other small leds and the 'extreme oc' panel lights are supposed to come on,

having the coolant ready to fill as the pump started i hit the power button, nothing... second try after unplugging peripherals and pump, the cathodes went out...

now upon switching the power switch on the psu, cathodes don't light anymore.. (shouldn't of anyway..)

completely removed the water system, reran all power etc. the standard untidy way, reinstalled air cooler, removed all ram, hdd's gpu's etc. 'extreme oc' lights wont come on anymore..

pushing the 'cmos reset' button on the back makes the rog light go off (lit up dull whole time in stead of pulsing bright) and all lights on the extreme oc panel light up except 'start' :S

any help greatly appreciated.. don't wanna have to buy another one of these boards

Hi, All those processes are normal and correspond to applications or drivers you are using....Kaspersky Internet Security, for one....things you need.

I am not sure why you cannot access msconfig to change startups, maybe it was a benefit as you can do some damage turning off things without any idea what they are....
You have had a Norton (Symantec) program before, possibly Norton Antivirus....I see the Live Update from it is still listed....does any Norton program still remain in use on the computer?

If not, I suggest Uninstalling Live Update in your Add/Remove programs list from the Control Panel....see if that works.

Post back if it does not show in that list or you cannot make it Uninstall.
also, please do this:
Open Hijack This and click on the "Open the Misc Tools section" button.
Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button.
Click the "Save List" button. After you click the "Save List" button, you will be asked where to save the file.
Pick a place to save it then the list should open in notepad.
Copy and paste that list in a reply.

I've have an X1 Extreme, for less than a month, and consistently had BSOD issues when or just shutdowns that seem to be revolving around the video drivers. I then upgraded my video drivers and now my secondary montior will not work. This is just awful. Wish Lenovo would actually make sure these laptops actually work before shipping them out. I've had over 50 BSOD in less than 30 days. Thoughts? Do I need to reinstalled and start fresh?

Hi Everyone,

I am currently providing remote support using TightVNC to a variety of locations. Increasingly I am noticing that the support that I am providing is to individuals with multiple monitor configurations. In almost all cases where more than one monitor is involved I find myself having to do a lot of scrolling inside the TightVNC program window (and TightVNC is not dissimilar to other remote support programs, such as RealVNC and TeamViewer in this regard).

I am considering purchasing an Extreme Definition monitor in the hopes of eliminating the program scrolling that I am experiencing. My first choice is the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM - LED monitor - 27". This specific monitor has a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440.

I would not like to spend a significant sum of money on an extreme definition monitor only to find that it doesn't solve my specific challenge. For example the remote session may be too hard to read on the screen due to text being very small.

If anybody has any experience with this kind of monitor, and specifically with providing remote support whilst using one of these can you please share.

All comments & opinions are welcome.

Kind Regards,

A:Considering an Extreme Res Monitor to improve remote desktop support

Would it solve your issue? Might if the dual monitors you are viewing over VNC are not wider then 2560px. You would need dual monitors yourself to fully solve the issue of scrolling. As for the text size...well that will depend on your eye sight and your personal preferences. But yes, the text will be smaller is most cases.

I have an HP laptop and I have been running it with dual monitors. I finally decided to upgrade to Windows 7 and after I installed it I noticed that the built in monitor of my laptop looked strange and when I opened the display settings to change the screen resolution and set the external monitor as a separate monitor rather than a mirror I noticed that only one monitor was detected and it was the external one (Generic non-pnp monitor on standard VGA graphics adapter) and the built in monitor does NOT show up at all.

I've tried the detection button, in hopes that the computer would read the built in monitor and I could fix the problem. This did not help. I tried unplugging/replugging the external monitor to no avail. I tried restarting without the external monitor plugged in and it STILL reads the built in monitor as if it is the external one. Is there anyway to fix this? I have not tried re-installing the OS, not yet anyways.

Any suggestions ?

Ok well first off I have attched a DxDiag and two hijackthis files. The first Hijack this file is when most processes are running and the second is when I have closed as many things on the taskbar as possible without it becoming inconvenient.

Now here is the problem, when playing World of Warcraft I normally run at about 120 frames per second. I am not sure if the computer specs I entered when registering show up in this post so I will just add that I have a 2.4ghz core 2 duo, 4 gigs of ram, and an 8800GTX.

Now this should be more than enough to run WoW at max settings comfortably, and it usually is. The problem I am experiencing is at seemingly random intervals my computer will become extremely bogged down. The frame rate will drop to well below 30fps sometimes hitting as low as 5fps. This will happen even if I turn the settings all to low. When this first started happening I thought that perhaps my virus scanner was turning on during game play but this wasn't the issue. I have tried closing any and all programs running in the background and it doesn't seem to fix the issue.

Usually the only way to temporarily fix this is to restart my computer as even if I restart World of Warcraft the problem persists. Once the computer has been restarted the game usually runs fine for a few hours though sometimes it happens again right away. I recently cleaned out my case to make sure it wasn't over heating as well.

Now this isn't a problem I have always had. W... Read more

Two days ago I had a wireless internet system installed in my home. The provider installed a dish on the side of the house which sends and receives wireless broadband to a cell tower on a nearby mountain. From the dish a cable is run into the house and the dish cable goes into a Linksys 2.4 g router. Running speed checks from speedtest.net shows I get the speed. But the consistency of the wireless system is woeful. On uploads, the upload will stop for several minutes before starting again. On downloads or browsing, I go to many pages where I get the "page not found" message and have to hit "refresh" several times to see the page. As a guess, I would say I have an issue like the above every five minutes with this wireless system.

Is this kind of poor performance normal for the setup I have?
Is there any way to fix this issue?
Is the issue an issue that the provider should be able to fix?
Is there any way I can track or graph what is going on with this wireless system over time (i.e. is there software that will continually monitor the performance and show me the times when the system is not responding? Using a graph or some kind of monitoring readout I can at least get the provider to admit there is an issue.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

I've been experiencing general stability issues with the ThunderBolt 3 dock. I purchased Extreme X1 for work because of the impressive specs and portability of the device. Overall I've been very pleased with the performance and build quality of the device and Lenovo's software suite makes keeping everything up to date really easy. WIth that said, I've had LOTS of issues with general stability of this product. It appears to Lenovo had issues with the discrete graphics (Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 ti) which may have mostly been resolved with the latest update. I'm on a fairly recent version of Windows 10 (1803). When using the Thunderbolt 3 dock I still experience lots of issues where the device freezes or becomes unresponsive when docking or undocking. Often times I must force power off the device completely because the device is unable to wake from sleep correctly when docked. I have not tested whether device itself is unable to wake from sleep or if it's just because it is connected from the Dock. However sometimes the device WILL wake correctly but then certain functions will not work, notable USB data will not work often but will be powered (keyboard lights are on but can't use caps lock, for example). Or sometimes the VIDEO won't display at all (thunder bolt graphics issue with discrete GPU) however I can clearly see caps lock works on my keyboard. Note all mentions of keyboard here refer to a USB keyboard wired to the TB dock.  Also worth noting ofte... Read more

I have a X1 Extreme notebook and Thinkpad wireless keyboard. I mostly use my notebook with extrenal display and don't usually open it at all. And I can't wake my notebook up from sleep with help of keyboard. I have checked the device manager, power management settings for the devices to ensure they can wake from the computer sleep. I have done this for a number of devices and USB entries in the device manager - anything which I think is related to the keyboard / mouse including USB controllers. HID devices etc.Could you advice smth to fix it?

Hello all, this is my first post on these forums. I just wanted to ask this question.

I recently purchased a : 24" LCD HDTV / Monitor for use as a monitor, but I have a few serious questions.

Well currently at the time of righting this post I am using the above monitor, and I have to squint to even read my text.

Some details:
Native resolution is 1920 x 1080, but I had to manually change it to 1828 x 1030 for it all to be within the screen (at native, things were outside).

I am using a HDMI cable to connect my monitor to my Nvidia Geforce GTS 250

Seeing as it is a good connection (HDMI) with a good resolution and 1080p, not to meniton the good video card it shouldn't be like this.

The text is so unbearable to read that I have to squint and be really close to even read what I am typing right now. The text just doesn't look right, it is very blurry and fuzzy looking. Everything else is mostly fine as far as pictures and videos and stuff, but there is like a white-border esque to the text and small images. I tried changing the sharpness and other various settings on the TV / Monitor but that didn't help anything.

If somebody could help me to make my new LCD TV (that I use as a monitor...) to look good and have the text clear please let me know!
Answers highly appreciated, thanks!

A:LCD HDTV/Monitor. Extreme blurry text and weird resolution

I still need help on my situation... If somebody could help that would be great seeing as I can hardly use my PC with the monitor like this.

Cannot get the display connect to the laptop through the included USB-C cable. Tried using both available ports, and through a docking. Windows detects that something is connect, but says ?Display connection might be limited?. The display doesn't appear in device manager, only the USB hub on the display.  Laptop is updated with latest windows. Also tried updating the thunderbolt 3 firmware. DisplayPort through DP cable on dock works fine.

Hi guys, I have a huge problem!

I recently took my pc apart to clean it up a bit and well, when I put everything together again I can't get my audio and network drivers to install correctly.

I install my audio driver and I then reboot, but when it's restarted, the audio troubleshooter still tells me that I should install the drivers even though I just did?
Same with my network driver. I install my chipset driver and when I want to install my network driver afterwards it tells me that there are no chipset drivers present?

I've formated and installed windows twice and it still won't install the drivers correctly.

My specs:
Asus Maximus IV Extreme B3 Revision
i7 2600k
nVidia ENGTX275 graphics card

I've downloaded new drivers from the Asus website and it still won't install, I cant go on the internet and my audio doesn't work untill the drivers are working . I have no idea what to do or what caused this. If anyone have any ideas please share them! Thank you.

I bought an x1 carbon 4th gen a few years ago. While its had its problems, overall I've enjoyed the computer - although I wish I didn't do the custom build. In the last year or so, I've had extreme cursor jumping when pressure is applied to the bottom or top of the keyboard, especially if its not on flat surfaces. It gets so bad that it gets stuck in corners and I cannot move it at all. the only way to move it was to apply slight bending pressure to the whole bottom half or do a sleep/restart. I read somewhere that it could be a battery swelling issue that interferes with the touchpad sensor in the middle of the keyboard. I brushed it off and hoped an update would fix it. Several updates later it did not and actually only got worse. By chance, I tried turning of the touchpad function and miraculously, the cursor does not jump anymore, meaning it is a software issue. I've found a few other threads with the exact same issue but no responses let alone no solutions. It is really annoying because I when the whole touchpad is toggled off, the trackpoint AND the two trackpad buttons at the top are turned off. I got used to those functions, especially the two left/right buttons, so it sucks not being able to use them. I am wondering if I can get a refund or a new laptop, because as a lenovo user its unaccetable to pay the price you do for an x1 just to get mediocre results. Please help me find a solution, any advice is appreciated

I am using a 22" screen for my primary screen and the laptop lid open for a secondary screen. The main screens resolution is 1680x1050, I can set it to anything I want and it's always using the full screen. The laptop screen on the other hand will only use the full screen if it's at 1400x1050 resolution (max for that screen, IBM Thinkpad T43). With the large 22" screen I have no trouble reading the screen at high resolutions, the screen is huge, with the little 14" screen though I have to strain to read the screen at 1400x1050.

The problem is when I set the laptop screen to anything lower than 1400x1050, it uses less of the screen. Preferrably I want it at 1280x1024 or 1024x768 (I dont know which I want yet as I can't see the freaking screen at that resolution). At 1280x1024 for instance the useable screen is just a box in the middle, so the "1280x1024" is still barely readable for me cause it's shrunk from full screen, plus it's just annoying only using a portion of the screen.

I have played with the ATI Control Center, the Thinkpad display settings and windows display settings and just cannot get this thing to go full screen at lower resolutions when docked and using the external monitor.

Anyway to resolve this?

I've looked over all the posts and have found some similar problems to mine but nothing that quite exactly matches it. So here goes with what has happened and hopefully someone can give me a solution.

The trouble began a few weeks ago when I had to begin powering on/off my pc with the PS's power button. The front button would no longer work. No problem until after a severe lightning storm the pc wouldn't power on at all. I check the RAM, tested voltages on the PS (they all showed good) but still nothing. Finally I ordered a new motherboard and checked everything again. Still no go so I requested a replacement chip from Intel (which they shipped very quickly and for free) and still nothing. I then began the process over again and found two bad stick of RAM (1 GB total, leaving me now with 2GB).

So now I fire up the pc and am still having to do the following to get it booted. Push the PS's power switch and then the power button on the front. Again, no problem as long as the pc works. The onboard NIC would not work. I check and see that it has no assigned MAC address. So I assign one via a registry entry, disable and then re-enable the card. Now the NIC works. I begin playing some games to test everything out (TF2 - one player only, Supreme Commander - local game) and it works fine. Then I begin playing others online and both games come to a crawl. I do several speed tests and they show a download of 1.5 Mbps and 256 up.

I have no idea what could b... Read more

I will be buying a HD monitor may be 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 resolution. I finalized Samsung P2350, if it is not available then I shall go for 2233SW 22". I wanted to buy a Dell one, but the customer care center of Dell told that only 19" monitor is in stock :!: So opted for Samsung.
I have a old system of intel P4 1.7 GHZ with 384MB DDR RAM. Mobo: 845GLAD. No exernal graphics card, only inbuilt one.(I shall be upgrading my system shortly). So I want to know that if the monitor will compatible with my old system, will it run at full resolution (can not run any high end game with the system so no question of playing though. Will not watch any HD movies until full upgradation of system.) Just simply run it at native resolution of the monitor. Will inbuilt graphics card be able to handle the resolution??
Please answer it..thanx in advance.....

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. Having said that... I was given a teal-colored Power Mac G3 circa 1998, original specs: 400MHZ, 1MB cache, 128 MB SDRAM, 6GB HD, DVD, ZIP drive. A relative's IT person at a major university supposedly upgraded this CPU to a current Mac operating system (a recent version of OSX). I then purchased an Apple 17 in. Studio Display monitor (circa 2000) from eBay. The male Apple display connector has a different configuration than the female monitor port on the CPU. I believe that the port on the CPU, which is labelled with the number "one", is a VGA port, with three horizontal rows of 5 holes for a total of 15 holes (please bear with me!). The male end on the ADC is much more oblong, has 30 pins, and on one side of the pins it features a horizontal protrubing piece of metal which has two pins above and below it (this is my best description). I have seen ADC to VGA adaptors on the market, and I'd like to know if one of these would solve my problem of connectivity? Any help would be terrific (aside from being told to go jump in a lake). Thank you in advance!

A:Monitor & CPU compatibility... help (please)!

ok, so i'm guessing one looks like this:

and the other looks like this:

if that's the case, a simple converter *should* fix that. they're not too expensive.

the "weird" looking plug is called a DVI port. the other 15 pin one shoudl be a standard VGA port. you should be shopping for something like this:

along with that you can get a standard female-male vga cord so it goes DVI port, adapter, VGA cord, VGA port.

hope that helps

Alright: I'll divide this into sections and explain everything I've been dealing with and done in the last few days. To be blunt, I'm out of ideas and I need help.

Section 1: pre upgrade

Pc stats:
Intel DBX38BT motherboard
Intel core 2 quad Q9300 processor
Nvidia 9800 gt
4gb of OCZ 10300 ram
2x 500 gb 7200 RPm SATA Western Digital drives
Liteon dvdrw drive
Windows xp pro

Im a gamer and my pc was optimized to do so circa 4 years ago, I could easily run even current gen games like Tera on medium settings, alt+tab and have a web browser and internet radio going with no issues. Cpu usage I never remember seeing above 80%, ever.

Being honest, this was the 3rd pc Ive built and I was pretty confident about my computer knowledge to do this myself.

I bought on newegg:

Nvidia gtx560
16gb of Corsair vengeance RAM
and win 7 home premium about a week ago and this is where the problems started

Section 2 -- The upgrade itself

The physical installation of the new graphics card and all 4 of the corsair RAM dimms went without a hitch, I did have a RAM POST error, but simply reseated the dimms and windows booted perfectly. So I went into XP updated my drivers for the graphics card (temporarily) and began backing up my critical data.

About an hour later I restarted and went into my BIOS to reconfigure for Win 7 installation. I accidentally disabled USB on boot though I dont remember doing this as well as the expected switching of boot order.

I have a Thinkpad X1 Extreme (20MF000CUS) connected to two external 4K monitors via Lenovo Thunderbolt Workstation Dock (40AN0230US). Windows 10 desktop extends to all 3 displays.Everything works really well except for a major annoyance: normally I have a bunch of apps/windows I leave open on all 3 monitors. Whenever I put the laptop to sleep and I then resume it later on, all app/windows I left open are automatically resized, moved and stacked up on the primary (laptop) display. Is this by design? Anyway to prevent this behaviour?I noticed that the laptop display is handled by the Intel graphic card while the two external displays are handled by the nVidia graphic card. Could this be the reason?
