Dell E5470 with Intel HD Graphics 520 - screen goes black when undocked

Q: Dell E5470 with Intel HD Graphics 520 - screen goes black when undocked

We have a number of Dell E5470s which have Intel HD Graphics 520 chips. Since upgrading the computers to Windows 10 version 1703 (Creators Edition), when the computers are undocked (E Port Replicator), 99% of the time the built-in display will go entirely black or, black with the mouse pointer flashing. The computer will remain in that state until the computer is re-docked. Once re-docked the computer display will work as expected. This is not an issue when the dock is eliminated; connect and disconnect monitor from the VGA port on the computer.
The laptop has the latest bios (1.44.4), latest video drivers from Dell (21.20.16.4627) and Synaptics VMM3320 MST Hub Firmware (3.10.3).
I have contacted Dell support and they confirmed that this is not a hardware issue. I was fairly certain of that going in since this issue is consistent with multiple E5470s and multiple EPort Replicators and EPort Plus Replicators. Dell support then had me contact the Dell Software and Driver Division and they too said it was not a hardware issue, but would not help me try to resolve this issue or tell me if this was a known issue or if anything was being done to try to resolve this issue.
I would appreciate suggestions you might have to help resolve this problem.
Thanks
Randy

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I just received an E5470 with the Intel HD520 graphics card. I have a Linkskey KVM (LKU-SO4ASK). This laptop is replacing an E6520 where the KVM works fine. The monitor is a Samsung BH2330H. The mouse (Logitech MX-518) and the keyboard (MS Digital Media Pro) work fine on the KVM when I attach it with the E5470. It is just that the monitor is blank.
If I take a VGA (analog) cable from the monitor to the new laptop (E5470), I can work with multiple monitors. Duplicate, Extend and Projector Only work fine.
If I hook it up with the same cables that I'm using for the E6520, as I said earlier, the mouse and keyboard work but the Samsung Monitor is blank whether I Extend or Duplicate it. If I select "Projector Only", it is blank and after about 10 seconds, I get this error:
Unable to connect to projector.
No Projector was Detected
I just updated to the most recent BIOS and installed the Synaptics VMM3320 MST HUB Firmware Updater (3.10.1 - Apr 18,2016) and still no luck.
I'm at a loss. I really don't want to keep around the E6520 so that I can RDP to E5470. It will be a pain when I have to figure out the best workaround when trying to be on a VPN.
If anyone has experience issues with the Intel HD520 and KVMs, I'd be interested if you have been able to solve it.
Thanks.

Intel Core i3-2330M + Intel HD Graphics 3000 = Black Screen
Hi,

first of all, my words of deep and sincere appreciation and thanks for this website. I use it, though only sporadically, for many, many years and always got very professional and useful help here!

Today I am inquiring about a problem that seems to be quite common and wide-spread, based on my own Internet searches: the bad combination of the Intel Core i3-2330M processor and the Intel HD Graphics 3000. During normal operations, my system works with that. But when using render software (POV-Ray) or attempting to play games, then I am getting that famous Black Screen. The laptop still continues to work, but I cannot see anything anymore. Only a restart helps, unfortunately. My online search did not reveal any solution, and having downloaded the "Intel Driver Update Utility", nothing new can be downloaded it seems.

I am speaking out here today about my problem with the hope, that someone here know a functioning solution. I need my system in order to create renders, that is my work. I just recently upgraded my system with that better processor, and it kills me now.

Hey guys,

I thought I'd share my experiences for those who may have similar setups. I have a Sager NP8265 laptop, with AMD/Intel switchable graphics.
I did a clean install using an ISO I got from Mosharino's beautiful thread up there.

You MUST install the latest Intel graphics drivers, and then, DO NOT REBOOT, for you MUST ALSO install the latest ATI drivers (13.11 beta right now).
If you don't do both, you will get black screen of fun when you do reboot. BSOF. Not as fun as it sounds.

As far as upgrading rather than a clean install, if you upgrade, you will likely get the black screen anyways. So what you have to do, is reboot to safe mode after the upgrade completes (oh you'll know, cause all you can see if a black screen, with a mouse cursor), and remove both graphics devices (device manager, right click the graphics adapter, uninstall)

Then you can boot into Windows normally, albeit with sh*te graphics. Then do the installs as I outlined above.
After a couple of reboots, you should (..should..) have a functioning machine again, that doesn't even look like sh*te!.

Hopefully this helps someone who had the same issues I did!

Hello all. I disabled my Intel HD graphics (dumb I know but it's in the past), and was prompted with a blank, black screen. I read up on the problem, and it seemed as if though it was a common problem, so I kinda did some tinkering. I removed my graphics card as my battery was bellow it, and then removed the battery for about 10 mins. After putting everything back together, I had no success.
The monitor is still working as I hooked up an older pc to it to see if it still works (which it does).
Any tips?

As soon as I install Intel HD Graphics 4600 in my Dell Precision M3800, the screen goes black and after rebooting, it goes black again right after Windows is booted.
Here is everything I tried:

clean installed Windows 8 (original Dell USB drive recovery media)
clean installed Windows 10
install all Windows Updates and drivers from Windows Updates
Install latest (2015) drivers manually from dell.com (M3800_Video_Driver_7C6X2_WN32_10.18.15.4248_A00.exe)
Install latest (2017) drivers from intel.com (Intel HD Graphics 4600 15.40 2017 win64_154036.4703.exe)
let Dell System Detect install drivers automatically
In Safe Mode, in Registry, set "DisplayOptimizations" to 0x0  and "NoFastLinkTrainingForeDP" to 0

RESULTS: all the same, screen goes black as soon as Intel HD Graphics 4600  is installed and remains black as soon as Windows is booted, no matter how many times you reboot.
NOTES:

I restored Windows from Advanced Startup Options each time screen would go black as a result of installing Intel HD Graphics driver, sometimes restore failed, and I clean installed Windows from USB media.
screen works fine in Safe Mode and if I disable Intel HD Graphics 4600 in device manager, Windows boots normally and screen works.
I could live with builtin Microsoft Basic Display Adapter driver (1920x1080) but the the problem is screen brightness is stuck at maximum and there is no way to change it!

I did a fresh install of Windows 10 and everytime I install the Intel HD Graphics driver, the screen goes black.

But when I go into safe mode and disable the Intel HD Graphics and use the Microsoft Basic Display Driver, it works.

So I connected in Team viewer and remotely installed the Intel HD Graphics and the screen still went black but was still okay in Team viewer.

Any fix for this? I want the GT 820m to work as well.

Help, I have been trying to solve this issue for some time now, the problem is that my screen turns black on startup after the microsoft recommended graphics driver installation? what do I do?

A:My screen turns black after the recommended intel hd graphics install

Is there any CD for installation on the driver.

If yes, do use the manufacturer driver file.

Most windows driver are common, "generic", and your card my not able to use generic.

Google search for the driver, especially on the manufacturer website.
This is most common, to many manufacturer to add updated drivers in the website, as this is recommended.
And they may also upload new drivers.

Windows driver may not be able to use, due to the "generic" as at the point of Windows installation.

Hi,
The problem started in December when Windows 10 updated itself. The screen simply turns black after booting. (Dell symbol appears but black after)
I have found a couple of things out:
- laptop screen works if Intel graphics are disabled
- external screen works on hdmi
- I can access BIOS screen
I have clean installed Windows 10 several times with no success even when upgrading drivers. I have also tried a clean install of Windows 8.1 (which never had an issue before I upgraded) however this also gives the same issue.
I have updated and reset the BIOS with no success.
The laptop also has an nVidia graphics card also but I don't think it is at fault
I'm pretty much out of ideas as to what to try next!
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks
Sam

Hello everybody,
I have a Dell XPS 13 9350 with an Intel HD Iros 540 graphics card.
Every worked nicely until an automatic update turned my screen black. After reinstalling Windows 10 from scratch, I discovered that with the generic graphics driver provided by Windows the screen works, but any specific driver for my card turns the screen black. I tried, with no success, in this order:

All the versions of the graphics driver found on the Dell website

20.19.15.4531, A07, 29 Dec 2016
20.19.15.4483, A06 07, Sep 2016
20.19.15.4454, A05 29, Jun 2016
20.19.15.4390, A04 14, Apr 2016
The latest driver found in the Intel website (15.45.16.4627)

None of these works. As soon as any of these drivers are installed, the screen turns black. Upon reboot, the screen stays black in the login screen.
The only fix I found so far is to remove the driver completely, and use the default graphics driver of Windows. I also had to disable automatic driver updates, otherwise the screen would turn black again upon reinstallation of the driver.
What are my options? Is there any diagnostic information I can provide that can help me troubleshoot the problem? I am a Linux user and I know very little about Windows.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Windows Update is pushing an Intel graphics driver for T480 and T480s that is broken on Windows 10 Pro 1803 OEM. The recommended update on the Lenovo Support site is also broken. After Windows Update has installed this driver, the screen goes black and I have a blinking cursor. The only thing that works is to turn the laptop off and on again but then after initializing windows I'm supposed to be getting the login screen but instead I get a completely backlit black screen that doesn't respond to anything - no cursor, no blinking, nothing. The workaround is topower off and on 3 times in order to go into safe modeuninstall the graphics card driver in Device Manager and check the box to delete the driver fileschange from Yes (recommended) to No (your device might not work as expected) in Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Installation Settings->Do you want to automatically download manufacturers' apps and custom icons available for your devices.I've experienced this on 2 T480s and 1 T480 in the last 30 hours, so I know it's a general issue. I can reproduce the issue with a brand new laptop fresh out of the box, not domain-joined. The driver that works is from March 2018. Any drivers after this date seem to produce the above issue. The issue doesn't seem to exist on Windows 10 Pro 1709.

Good morning! I wonder if anyone else has either experienced or solved the issue I am currently having with my Yoga 710. I looked for similar postings that may have solved this issue but did not find them so if I missed it, I apologize.  After visiting the IT help desk at my university several times as certain programs such as Spotify desktop, Zoom, Skype, SPSS Amos Graphics (a statistical modeling program) would open but display a black screen, the technicians realized that the Intel 520 Graphics Driver appeared to cause an issue once it advanced past a particular version of the software. They rolled back the graphics driver and everything was working great until last night my computer wanted to update Windows 10 which automatically updated the graphics driver and eliminated the option to roll back to a previous version of the graphics driver. Now I can't use a significant number of the programs on my laptop.  I could rollback the Windows update but that doesn't seem helpful overall. It seems silly to keep having to roll back the graphics driver when the Windows update seems to be forcing it to be more up-to-date. On an Intel forum it seems like Intel is saying that Lenovo has tested it and says everything is OK, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  Any ideas or links to solutions would be most appreciated! Best wishesMandy

Hi Everyone, Lenovo System Update installed the 'critical' Intel HD Graphics Driver 21.20.16.4590 on our X1 Yoga (20FR) and during the install the display freezes and on reboot we get the spinning dots at bottom of screen. We did a system restore to roll back the drivers and installed them again via the download on Lenovo's web site following their instructions but same probem. Anyone else having this problem but found a solution? Thanks.

Hi ChrisPerry,

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

As I understand that you are facing issue after installing Intel Display driver from Lenovo
If that's the case why not give it a try to update it from Intel one from here. And try to update it from Device Manager manually from zip file.

Do let us know how it goes.
Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!

I have a Dell Latitude D630 that was wiped and has a clean install of XP Pro on it. I'm trying to reinstall all the drivers from the Dell website, as there's no system restore disk, etc. I've gotten everything back to good except for the integrated Intel graphics card.

I tried to install the software/drivers for it from both the Dell site (the D630 page) and also the updated software from the Intel site (specific Intel graphics card page), but both installations cause my screen to go black upon install, and the only way to get it back is to reboot and pick Last Known Good, which reverts to the generic drivers that XP installed for it. I've tried multiple installs & uninstalls, and all have had the same result.

It's not a huge deal as the laptop works fine with the generic drivers, but not only am I tired of getting the "your computer has discovered new hardware" (my graphics card) message each time I boot up, but I can see myself playing some games on this laptop and doubt the generic drivers will support anything decent.

Any ideas? Should I delete the generic drivers before trying to install the real ones, etc.? TIA

Hi,

In addition, If I purchased an i5 board (Dell part # 3GMP2) , will I be able to replace the CPU with the one that I currently have on the old motherboard and get an i7 board ? I'm asking because the i5 board is cheaper than the i7 board.

Thank you

A:Dell E7470 - is it possible to get the new Intel 6050 CPU with Intel Iris graphics ?

While the boards should interchange, bear in mind:
Whatever board you buy has a CPU soldered to it - the CPUs cannot be replaced separately from the mainboard;  they are not removeable.
If the system is in warranty, replacing the mainboard voids the warranty.

I have a Dell XPS 15 (9550) that I received last week from Dell with a random screen flickering issue.
It is based on evalue order code: <ADMIN NOTE: Order number removed per privacy policy>
It is the 6th Gen Core i7, 16GB RAM, 15.6" FHD 1080p display (not 4k), 512GB SSD, 84WHr Battery, Intel 530 Graphics AND NVIDIA 960M

I saw a post about the XPS 13 with the intel display flickering being fixed with the new driver... I am running driver version 20.19.15.4300 for the Intel 530 and my screen is still constantly flickering  on my brand new XPS 9550.
Another Issue: I also noticed that in the Intel graphics properties config panel -> 3D -> Application Optimal Mode... this also causes issues with the start menu looking distorted and fuzzy, even making some of the white text look gray.  I disabled this to resolve that issue, but the screen still constantly flickers.
One thing I have done recently to mitigate the flickering is go into the NVIDIA driver control panel and set the NVIDIA card as the preferred graphics card, which works for most applications. As soon as the Intel card kicks back in the screen flickers... I have tried various drivers versions for this model off the Dell website without success. I am running Windows 10 Pro...  not sure if a newer driver is available and just not posted. For example the newest Laptop BIOS on the driver website ends in .3 while my pc came with .5 installed. Another update... I was ready to give up as others have above when I found posts on the NotebookReviews forum mentioning this new Intel Driver:  downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-15-40-6th-Gen
It won't install through the executable, but if you follow the instructions here for a manual install: www.windowscentral.com/how-install-intel-beta-graphics-drivers-surface  they do work.  Incidentally that link is regarding the exact same flickering problem on the MS Surface Book Pro(very similar hardware).  I'm 3 days in to using these drivers and it appears to have resolved the problem.  This is the longest I've gone without flickering by a long shot.
Note on the Intel download site the first of the "Key Issues Fixed"...  "Display may flicker on 6th Generation Intel Core and related processors".
I also updated to the latest WiFi drivers from Dell's site at the same time, so I can't be 100% certain my issues were fixed by just the display drivers, or if it was the combination of the two.

Okay, from the first day I bought a Dell e1505 laptop a little over a year ago, when I search google maps for an address, these weird 1-2" black boxes obscure part of the maps. Video drivers didn't fix the issue, so I waited. Back in March, I began contacting Dell tech support again.

Five months, over 50 documented hours on the phone, one product return, a dozen repair CD's, a new hard drive, and too many hd reformats/windows installs later, the problem continues and Dell finally gave up on me, telling me that they only sell and service hardware, I must have a software issues, and software support is only a courtesy.

Ironically, I also have a problem with the Dell website http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellconnect/dellconnect?c=us&l=en&s=gen where the world map appears all screwed up.

Before I take them to small claims court, has anyone ever heard of such a problem?

I have the Precision M6600 with the ATI firepro M8900 graphics card. I wanted to use WIDI to display presentations on a plasma screen, but when I looked into it I found that it only works with Intel HD graphics.I didn't think this would have been a problem since my workstation has the Intel core i7-2720QM processor with onboard Intel HD graphics 3000 but was disappointed when the onboard Intel graphics wasn't available.I know that that Nvidia 4000M and 3000M graphics cards use optimus to inteligently switch between Intel HD graphics and Nvidia to conserve power while the Firepro m8900 doesn't have this capability. But why did Dell remove the ability to manually switch between Intel HD graphics and Firepro M8900.Considering I have bought such a expensive laptop  and chosen to have the intel core  i7-2720QM because it does have the Intel HD graphics. I don't understand why Dell have decided to dictated as what features of the processor I can have access to.  When I bought my laptop, I don't remember seeing anywhere nor is it stated now anywhere on the dell website that if you choose the ATI Firepro M8900 graphics card you will not have the Intel HD graphics available.

I have downloaded the drivers for the graphics card and for the chipset directly from Dell by entering the service tag and have rebooted my computer several times with no success. I have even had Windows search for the latest update and It says I have the latest driver installed. I also have a warning triangle on Intel (R) Management Engine Interface. Keep in mind that my computers graphics card worked great and had the proper drivers on 7 before the hard drive was re-imaged. I have other 760s with the same specs and monitors that have no issues. I can post more screen shots if needed.

Thanks!

A:Dell Optiplex 760- Intel 4 Graphics Issue

Welcome to Seven Forums.
Go into device manager and see if your monitor is listed.
If it is listed as pnp. I would suggest going to Dell to see if their is a.inf file (driver) for it and install it.

Installing the .inf file should get your monitor recognized and this will allow it to run it's native resolution.

OK so admin at warrock said try the forum the forum kept yielding advice that was no help.
I have tried uninstalling reinstalling downloading setup from 4 different places. I have updated my winxp in a futile attempt to get it working but still have problem. The one remedy I couldn't try was change compatibility mode to xp but for some reason my xp compatibility options only range to win 2000. The open warrock file works then the g1 page comes up and I press the enter button, hackshield starts fine then I get the wallpaper before you get to logon screen with servers.at this point ratherthan tabs to choose from I get a black screen. I can hear the image maps respond but cant see anything please help

Dear all,
I want to upgrade the memory on my laptop to it's maximum, it's not clear the which limits apply to each processor configuration on my laptop series from the following docs, it's written a generic limits without matching each processor.

http://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/latitude-e5470-laptop_owner's%20manual_en-us.pdf

Thank you in advance.

A:Latitude E5470 with Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6300U CPU @ 2.40GHz ------ Max Memory Limit

U-processor says only one DIMM slot - so 16G max.
H-processors have two DIMM slots -- 2x16=32 G max.
So -- your CPU as listed means you have only one memory slot.

Hi,
For using the Cura software I need a more recent Intel HD Graphics Driver:
Cura Forum Link
I have 21.20.16.4664 ,A04 but need 22.20.16.4729.
The dell update application tells me my drivers are uptodate (21.20.16.4664) and the driver on the dell website is also outdated (21.20.16.4664):
Link
But I also can't install the uptodate driver from the Intel webside....
Best regards,

Hi Yall,
So I have successfully (I think) installed my new Radeon R7 250 "low profile" graphics card on my Dell Optiplex 9020.  I plugged it in the motherboard, started up the computer then went to Device Manager to update the drivers--which I did.  Side note: Ever since plugging the graphics card into the motherboard, some tasks like starting programs or starting windows take 2-10X as long as they used to.  Anyhow, it then asked for a restart, which I did.  The computer still took extra long to start any program, and when I plugged the monitor into the graphics card all I got was a black screen.
Take two:  I then read that I should have uninstalled my current graphics driver (Intel integrated HD graphics) before I installed my new graphics card, but failing this, I could uninstall my old graphics card and change the default graphics card in the bios.  I uninstalled the old card and went to the bios, but could not change the default...can't remember exactly what it called it, graphics controller or something.  I could see that intel HD graphics was still the default (this is after uninstalling intel HD graphics and then restarting) but could find no way to change this.  Supposedly dell will make the switcheroo on its own...but it doesn't seem to have.
Take three:  Next I physically removed the graphics card, restarted the computer, then physically inserted the graphics card again, then started the comp... Read more

These utilities were installed on my XPS 15 9550. Both of them seem to have options for tweaking display colors. Mostly I am confused about why they are installed, what is the differences between them, and how to best use one or the other or both.
I have changed some settings, but they don't always seem to behave consistently, especially Dell PremierColor. DPC also seems to crash or restart when I play around with it. Can I just uninstall it?
Does anyone have any best practices for managing screen appearance?

Dear all,
have the laptop with installed Windows 8.1 po (cause it is corporate standard, other OS isn't supported inside my company, sorry). Any attempts to install Intel HD there wasn't successful: not from Dell site, nor Intel - "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software" in spite of Windows 8.1 is in the list of compatible OS on the driver's description, e.g.:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26604/Graphics--15-45-Intel-?product=96551
The only graphic driver was installed is Microsoft Basic Adapter, but I can't connect extra monitor by HDMI with this driver.
Please don't recommend me to install Win10 - I can't do it now. I need any other solutions! Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I'm not sure if I'm posting this thread in the right section, its my first thread post here.

I have a Dell n5110 i5(intel HD 3000 graphics),that I bought last year to assist me with my studies. I didn't care much about the graphics when I purchased it.
I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I read that I should have bought a laptop with a better card graphics if I was to play the latest games.Of all the games I would have liked to play GTA 4. I know its not possible with what I have.

I love my laptop though. And I intend to have it with me for a longtime even if I don't get to play the latest games(I can play older ones like Hitman blood money).
I'm curious, since I haven't found the answer elsewhere, whether it is possible to have a gaming card graphics added one day for the model of laptop I have.
Thanks in advance!
Ryan

A:Changing card graphics(HD3000 intel) in Dell Laptop. Is it possible?

I looked at the specs for the N5110 and that laptop is designed for dual graphics.
It says it has an optional AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics card.

First, I would check in the Device Manager to see if you have 2 graphics devices, if you do not already know that you bought the laptop without the dedicated graphics option.

If not, then I would look at purchasing the optional card from Dell.
I'd have more info but without a Service Tag number you can't get any info out of Dell.

I have been using dell Vostro 2420 laptop for the last 2 years. I had windows 8.1 installed in it in the last month. When I was using windows 7 I got occasional display problem with display getting blurred(consisting of close horizontal lines, and picture getting shifted to left side of the screen). According to the instruction from dell, I uninstalled both intel and nvidea display drivers. They got reinstalled automatically after restart. Now I got the display error again. I uninstalled the display drivers. But only nvidea is automatically reinstalled. When I tried to install intel hd graphics driver manually, it shows that "the computer does not meet the minimum requirements for the installation to complete". What to do? Please help.

I am using the VGA port of a Dell 4-in-1 adapter (DA100) to connect my XPS 13 with touch screen display to a Dell U2412M monitor. The Intel HD Graphics Control Panel does not detect that there is an external monitor attached to the computer, i.e., the Graphics Options menu does not show the "Output To" option, the Graphics Properties' Display menu shows only "Built-in Display" under the Select Display tab, etc. The DA100 was installed remotely by Dell Support (after neither I nor they could find the driver on the Dell support website, as instructed to do by the software driver download guide that comes with the adapter), so I assume that it was installed correctly. Has anyone else experienced this problem and, hopefully, have a solution?

I have a Latitude E6520/Core i7/8Gb RAM with standard Intel HD(r) Graphics - would I be able to use the Dell U3415W Monitor externally, connected to the Latitude's built-in display port, and drive the monitor at it's native resolution - WQHD (3440x1440), simultaneously with the built in LCD panel at 1920x1080? How about without the built-in panel?
Incidentally, I'd love to know how to figure this sort of stuff out myself, if anyone has any pointers to doing so.
Thanks,Bob

Hi all,

Wanted to update the previous thread that the person 'Dell4700' had posted on a Graphics Driver for the Dell Dimension 4700 which uses the Intel Integrated Graphics 915G and/or 910GL Graphics Chip ( Intel 82915 and 82910 Graphics Chipsets).

The cab file that the person posted got me on the right track - but that driver no longer works with Windows 7 SP1 latest updates. It acts as if it will install, but upon reboot, it fails and removes itself.

The driver that I found that does work after many hours of searching is the last driver released directly by Intel for the Chipsets 915G and 910GL - version 14.25.50.4764 - released on 01/17/2007. The driver is technically a Windows XP driver - however this Intel Chipset was not updated any further due to lack of capabilities for Windows Vista nor Windows 7. The driver does however work perfectly and allow you to display full resolution instead of being limited to a max of 1024 x 768 by the 'Standard VGA Graphics Driver'.

The direct link to the file on Intel's site is:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/do...ator-Driver-for-Windows-XP-exe-?product=97504

and the filename is: win2k_xp142550.exe

I'm only updating this as a favor for a family member ... as the Dell Dimension 4700 is extremely old (almost 12 years at this point) - but hopefully this will help someone in a similar situation that needs the driver.

Hi I recently starting working on upgrading an old Lenovo H50. I purchased a EVGA GTX 950, and a 500W power supply along with a new case.I plugged in my video card before I installed the new drivers and it did not boot up. (It gave me a black screen) After this I unplugged the video card and tried it with the integrated graphics, which were working before I moved everything to the new case and switched power supplies (I got all the adapters). After I did this the integrated graphics VGA still gave me a black screen. I then performed a CMOS reset by moving the pin thing. (tried this multiple times, I dont even know if I did this correctly) And by removing the battery next to the pins for 10 minutes.Just for additional information. Everything is powering on. And I do assume the motherboard is working since I can directly power it on by the front case switch.

How can you tell if the wireless adapter is turned on or off on a Dell E5470?
My old Dell laptop had a light that turned on and off when you clicked on the wireless button, but I don't see it on the E5470.
Please help.  Thanks,
Joe

A:Dell E5470 wireless indication?

Hi Joe,
On the Latitude e5470 there is no wireless led indicator present.
Kindly review the specifications manual here.
You could monitor the wireless behavior through the "Networks" in notifications on the bottom right side based on the OS.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

So, I have installed windows 7 (again) with my broken screen, but I used a monitor to assist me with that. As soon as it installed, I remembered that my display driver was missing, making the laptop inoperable. If anyone can find a fix to this, it would help me very much.
