Pavilion 15-ab292nr ram upgrade

Q: Pavilion 15-ab292nr ram upgrade

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab292nr. The notebook came with 8 mgs of ram. As I understand it, the ram can be upgraded to 16 mgs. I wish to now what brand or type of 8 mg ram console (say, in Amazon descriptions) is compatible and whether there is any documentation that describes how to install the additional ram. Thanks !

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Got this new laptop for Christmas.  It came with only 1 stick of 8GB Ram.  Went to BB and got a pair of 8GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 PNY.  Now my laptop overheats and locks up.  The only difference is the old memory stick was a DDR3L, the new memory is only DDR3. This memory should work, why is it not?

A:HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab292nr

There's the problem. No it should not work. I am surprised it boots and runs. The laptop is designed for low-voltage memory and you really should not use anything else on a 6th gen Intel Core processor. Did you ask the geniuses (oops wrong store) at BB what your laptop needed or pick it out yourself? Can you take it back and get DDR3L? Pretty sure BB stocks it. The Manual: Two SODIMM slots - NON customer accessible / upgradeable DDR3L-1600 Dual Channel Support Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following con?gurations: Memory module (DDR3L-1600): 8-GB 693374-005 Did you pay more than $70.44 for what you have? https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1600MHz-PC3-12800-KVR16LS11/dp/B00CQ35HBQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=U...

I bought this HP Pavilion 15-AB292NR "Flagship" laptop new in April 2016, came with core i7-6700HQ CPU - only to find out later  that the memory sockets on this laptop won't accept DDR4 RAM (and no, there are no UniDIMM notches in the memory sockets; the socket is notched for DDR3, only).  I discovered this after much digging, wading through documents, and numerous, seemingly endless calls to HP Tech Support - I finally got some answers after I was put through to the HP Parts Department. It is currently running 16 GB of DDR3L-1600 CL9 RAM (1.35 v), and industry standard synthetic benchmarks and real-world applications bear this out:  this system lags other systems in the same class (same CPU but with DDR4-2133  RAM) by 18% to 20% in overall performance.  This performance hit is particularly felt by the onboard intel HD 530 Integrated Graphics (again, optimized for DDR4), whose performance is tied directly to the speed of main system RAM. The DDR3-only system board limitation again holds this system back in FPS performance by 18 - 20% -  I've measured this myself. Skylake CPUs and chipsets are optimized for DDR4 memory.  This laptop is hobbled by DDR3 only sockets. I bought this laptop thinking that its "Flagship" status meant that it would be a top performer. Looks like I was sadly mistaken.

Hello, First, I must admit, I'm pretty disappointed and pissed off with my interactions so far with HP support. I tried asking this question both on FB and using the HP Chat support (been waiting over 30 minutes for a rep...) I bought a few days ago a Pavilion ab292nr, I have two simple questions, I understand that I can't put DDR4 Memory on it since it only supports DDR3L, what's the maximum memory speed for this laptop? I consider buying two 8gb DDR3L 2133MHz, I guess it should speed up the computer further, but I'm not sure if I can get the full advantage of 2133MHz since the memory the laptop come with is 1600MHz (it sounds completely stupid that the laptop would support 2133MHz and HP would deliberately decide to put a slower crappier memory in it).** Please do not refer me to the maintenance guide, I checked it out, it doesn't say **bleep**. Also, I'm interested in buying a 256Gb SSD to be my primary harddrive and put the slow 1TB HD asa secondary one. First, is it possible? If so, where can I get my windows code in order to reinstall it with the SSD as primary HD? Third, since no one really uses CDs today, is it possible to just remove the DVD drive? Is there any place I could buy a plastic cover or something? I would appreciate your help. Thanks,Fabian

I want to upgrade the graphics card of my Pavilion 550-159 NG, and I understand that this desktop has certain limitations regarding upgrades. I'd like to purchase the GeForce GTX 1050 2G. I know I would have to upgrade the PSU to more than 400 watts (currently at 180). The card is also short (otherwise I doubt it fits). Would I have to upgrade anything else? Or will it work at all? I have seen similar posts with similar desktops where other cards are suggested, but all are inferior to GeForce GTX 1050 2G. Would a more powerful card work (upgrading the PSU)?Thanks in advance!

I want to upgrade CPU to a 1gig on my HP Pavilion N3390 Notebook. Can someone explain to me what steps must be taken? After I buy the |CPU, where do I put it? How do I take apart the computer without breaking it?

Regards,

DAN

A:HP Pavilion, how do I upgrade CPU

First of all will need to check the hp.com web site and see if you are able to "jump" from the current cpu to 1 gig. If not then at least look for a BIOS update.
Now since you have a laptop things will get a little dicey. Will need to get a cpu which is made for a mobile pc , then will need to acctually take the laptop apart to be able to reach the cpu ...
When it cames to laptops changing a cpu is more "funky" then a regular desktop...anyways if you're skilled with a screw drive will be able to take the laptop apart and get to the cpu , remove it , put the new cpu in then put the laptop back as it was..

Hi  I have an HP Pavilion 550-279na. Whilst it suits most of my needs, I do enjoy the occasional game and have found that the GPU that it came with, the Radeon R5 330 is not providing enough 'oomph'. http://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c04949172 I have had a look around and think that the Nvidia GTX 750ti would probably fulfill my needs. Do you think that this card would fit in my PC? Also, I am guessing that the 180W PSU that it came with would not be sufficient to run a faster GPU, do you have any recommendations on size or model that would fit the Pavilion. My apologies if these are very lay questions, my hardware knowledge is not up to scratch! Thanks for any help. Charlie

Here is the Service Manual: Manual It appears to say the max memory is 12 gigs but we know from long experience it will take 2 x 8 gig modules for 16 gigs.  You need 2 of these: 8 GB memory module PC3L 12800 1600Mhz SHARED 693374-001 https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PC3L-12800-204-Pin-SoDimm-M471b1g73bh0-yk0/dp/B00J8U549K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493753979&sr=8-2&keywords=693374-001 See p. 47 of the Manual. Hello everyone,

Someone needs to upgrade their memory and video card. He has a HP 8562 Pavilion, it currently has 64MB SDRAM memory and a 8MB NVIDA Vanta 3D AGP Graphic Card.

He wants to upgrade to at least 256 of RAM and just an average video card: $50-85.00

What do you guys suggest?

A:Upgrade for a HP 8562 Pavilion?

For RAM go to www.crucial.com and eneter his system info and they'll recommend the correct RAM. Their prices are good too. If its Windows 9X get a 256MB chip to add to the 64MB, if its 2000 or XP get at least 512MB of RAM.

Does he play games? If not then leave the Vanta. If he does play games:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-170-027&catalog=48&depa=0

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-128-133&catalog=48&depa=0

The first two offer DirectX 9.0 support and 128Mb of RAM, the third is a 64MB Ti4200 which is getting old but still holds its own very well.

I am trying to upgrade my memory card on my home computer, right now there are 2 cards, both 128, I bought one that is a 512 and installed it but the computer won’t see it, I think I may need to update the bios but can’t seem to get that to work. When I try to start the computer with only the new ram installed it starts beeping(one beep, then 3 beeps, then 3 beeps, then one beep) but it won’t start. I could find bios updates on the hp site, but only for xp, me, 98, and I think 95, but I am running 2000. however, one of the updates I loaded has instructions for win2000, but it says that I need to format the floppy as a boot disk, how do I do that? The info I found about the motherboard says “112017 COGNAC 20000127” which is what hp was using in their pavilion 6645c series. Any help would be appreciated

I have read a few other posts that say that maybe there is not a bios update, how can I be sure?

Recently, my computer performance has decreased (I tend to use some resource-heavy programs) so I was interested in upgrading my RAM from 256megabytes to 1 gigabyte.

It has an ASUS motherboard, model number A7V-VM. I was concerned about this, because apparently the way RAM was built has changed slightly, making older computers incompatible.

Would anyone know if I could upgrade my current RAM to 2 512 megabyte Kingston/AZEN DDR sticks?

I want to upgrade my ram module. I need to know the EXACT memory module config that this laptop's motherboard supports. Steps that I've followed so far-1. I put in the new 8gb module with the 4gb which came in the box. bios reads only 4gb but CPU-Z shows 12gb installed.2. I swapped slots and checked for bent pins, there weren't any.3. On the single 8gb module, the laptop doesn't start and LED for power and caps lock button keep beeping(which means that the laptop doesn't detect the ram).4. I checked the ram modules. Their configs are    a. 4gb that came installed with the laptop - 4gb 1rx8(rank 1) PC3L (1.35V)    b. 8gb new one - 8gb 2rx8 (rank 2) PC3 (1.5V) There are two possible options for me that I know uptill now - 1. Hack/Mod the BIOS so that the ram channel operation voltage could be changed.2. Wait for HP to release a BIOS version that could automatically make this work.3. Buy a new ram module. As for me, first option doesn't exist, second is up to the people at HP. So the third one is the only remaining option for now. Hence I need a troubleshooting/exact configuration on the ram that this system supports as I could not find the information in the product specification document. Please do specify the operating frequency (1333Mhz/1600Mhz) acceptable. I'd really appreciate a fast reply. Please and thank you.

Hello!I am using a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook, with a 32-bit Vista business, 2 processors of Genuine Intel with 1.73GHz each, and only 1GB of RAM. I would like to upgrade the RAM to 4GB, but I don't know if that's possible, and/or how to do that. I hope you guys can help me.Thanks.

A:How to upgrade RAM on HP Pavilion dv6000 ?

We need to know the exact model number from the tag on the bottom of the laptop. You can then just check by model number with Crucial at crucial.com to check max memory specs. Some of the dv6000s max at 2 gigs as you likely already know. 2 gigs is dirt cheap and would be a major improvement. With 32 bit Vista even if you install 4 gigs only 3 will be available for Windows to use. So 2 gigs is your best bet anyway. The difference between 1 gig and 2 is huge, the difference between 2 and 3 is negligible, in my opinion.
