Pavilion 15-ab292nr ram upgrade

Q: Pavilion 15-ab292nr ram upgrade

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab292nr. The notebook came with 8 mgs of ram. As I understand it, the ram can be upgraded to 16 mgs. I wish to now what brand or type of 8 mg ram console (say, in Amazon descriptions) is compatible and whether there is any documentation that describes how to install the additional ram. Thanks !

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Got this new laptop for Christmas.  It came with only 1 stick of 8GB Ram.  Went to BB and got a pair of 8GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 PNY.  Now my laptop overheats and locks up.  The only difference is the old memory stick was a DDR3L, the new memory is only DDR3. This memory should work, why is it not?

A:HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab292nr

There's the problem. No it should not work. I am surprised it boots and runs. The laptop is designed for low-voltage memory and you really should not use anything else on a 6th gen Intel Core processor. Did you ask the geniuses (oops wrong store) at BB what your laptop needed or pick it out yourself? Can you take it back and get DDR3L? Pretty sure BB stocks it. The Manual: Two SODIMM slots - NON customer accessible / upgradeable DDR3L-1600 Dual Channel Support Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following con?gurations: Memory module (DDR3L-1600): 8-GB 693374-005 Did you pay more than $70.44 for what you have? https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1600MHz-PC3-12800-KVR16LS11/dp/B00CQ35HBQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=U...

I bought this HP Pavilion 15-AB292NR "Flagship" laptop new in April 2016, came with core i7-6700HQ CPU - only to find out later  that the memory sockets on this laptop won't accept DDR4 RAM (and no, there are no UniDIMM notches in the memory sockets; the socket is notched for DDR3, only).  I discovered this after much digging, wading through documents, and numerous, seemingly endless calls to HP Tech Support - I finally got some answers after I was put through to the HP Parts Department. It is currently running 16 GB of DDR3L-1600 CL9 RAM (1.35 v), and industry standard synthetic benchmarks and real-world applications bear this out:  this system lags other systems in the same class (same CPU but with DDR4-2133  RAM) by 18% to 20% in overall performance.  This performance hit is particularly felt by the onboard intel HD 530 Integrated Graphics (again, optimized for DDR4), whose performance is tied directly to the speed of main system RAM. The DDR3-only system board limitation again holds this system back in FPS performance by 18 - 20% -  I've measured this myself. Skylake CPUs and chipsets are optimized for DDR4 memory.  This laptop is hobbled by DDR3 only sockets. I bought this laptop thinking that its "Flagship" status meant that it would be a top performer. Looks like I was sadly mistaken.

Per the subject line: HP Pavilion 15-AB292NR, on power up, the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 internal WiFi adapter is not found, white square with red X is displayed in lower right corner of Windows 10 login screen. Must power-cycle or restart laptop 2 or 3 times before the white square with the red X on the Win10 login screen is replaced by the little Internet Access "Fan", then device works.  Wireless network then runs fine.   Has all the latest Windows 10 Home x64 updates and drivers.  Microsoft Windows 10 [Version 10.0.14393]

Hello, First, I must admit, I'm pretty disappointed and pissed off with my interactions so far with HP support. I tried asking this question both on FB and using the HP Chat support (been waiting over 30 minutes for a rep...) I bought a few days ago a Pavilion ab292nr, I have two simple questions, I understand that I can't put DDR4 Memory on it since it only supports DDR3L, what's the maximum memory speed for this laptop? I consider buying two 8gb DDR3L 2133MHz, I guess it should speed up the computer further, but I'm not sure if I can get the full advantage of 2133MHz since the memory the laptop come with is 1600MHz (it sounds completely stupid that the laptop would support 2133MHz and HP would deliberately decide to put a slower crappier memory in it).** Please do not refer me to the maintenance guide, I checked it out, it doesn't say **bleep**. Also, I'm interested in buying a 256Gb SSD to be my primary harddrive and put the slow 1TB HD asa secondary one. First, is it possible? If so, where can I get my windows code in order to reinstall it with the SSD as primary HD? Third, since no one really uses CDs today, is it possible to just remove the DVD drive? Is there any place I could buy a plastic cover or something? I would appreciate your help. Thanks,Fabian

I want to upgrade CPU to a 1gig on my HP Pavilion N3390 Notebook. Can someone explain to me what steps must be taken? After I buy the |CPU, where do I put it? How do I take apart the computer without breaking it?

Regards,

DAN

A:HP Pavilion, how do I upgrade CPU

First of all will need to check the hp.com web site and see if you are able to "jump" from the current cpu to 1 gig. If not then at least look for a BIOS update.
Now since you have a laptop things will get a little dicey. Will need to get a cpu which is made for a mobile pc , then will need to acctually take the laptop apart to be able to reach the cpu ...
When it cames to laptops changing a cpu is more "funky" then a regular desktop...anyways if you're skilled with a screw drive will be able to take the laptop apart and get to the cpu , remove it , put the new cpu in then put the laptop back as it was..

Hi  I have an HP Pavilion 550-279na. Whilst it suits most of my needs, I do enjoy the occasional game and have found that the GPU that it came with, the Radeon R5 330 is not providing enough 'oomph'. http://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c04949172 I have had a look around and think that the Nvidia GTX 750ti would probably fulfill my needs. Do you think that this card would fit in my PC? Also, I am guessing that the 180W PSU that it came with would not be sufficient to run a faster GPU, do you have any recommendations on size or model that would fit the Pavilion. My apologies if these are very lay questions, my hardware knowledge is not up to scratch! Thanks for any help. Charlie

I want to upgrade the graphics card of my Pavilion 550-159 NG, and I understand that this desktop has certain limitations regarding upgrades. I'd like to purchase the GeForce GTX 1050 2G. I know I would have to upgrade the PSU to more than 400 watts (currently at 180). The card is also short (otherwise I doubt it fits). Would I have to upgrade anything else? Or will it work at all? I have seen similar posts with similar desktops where other cards are suggested, but all are inferior to GeForce GTX 1050 2G. Would a more powerful card work (upgrading the PSU)?Thanks in advance!

Here is the Service Manual: Manual It appears to say the max memory is 12 gigs but we know from long experience it will take 2 x 8 gig modules for 16 gigs.  You need 2 of these: 8 GB memory module PC3L 12800 1600Mhz SHARED 693374-001 https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PC3L-12800-204-Pin-SoDimm-M471b1g73bh0-yk0/dp/B00J8U549K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493753979&sr=8-2&keywords=693374-001 See p. 47 of the Manual. Hi everybody, I'd like to upgrade the CPU (B960) of my HP Pavilion g6-1365sl.  Searching on the web, i've found different Maintenance and Service Guide for g6, as report below: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03094322 (this is the first from the HP website)http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02770249.pdf (from google on HP.com)http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03233548.pdf (as above)http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03593041.pdf (as above) Now my question is...which is the correct one?...I know the second (c02770249) doesn't report my CPU so probably is to exclude it, but the others?... The editions don't match each other...I'm confused...what is the difference?... I assume that the correct edition is the c03094322 (the first one) just because the touch pad is centrally unlike the other two (and because is that provided by the site)...so...the maximum installable CPU is Intel® Core? i7-2640M??? It's correct?...what is the difference between these editions? Thank you in advance!

You actually have the best motherboard in the series and it will handle 2d gen Intel Core CPUs, "Sandy Bridge", with bridge alive chip off i.e. switchable graphics. Up to i7-2640M. Your heatsink is the same as used on the i7 models so it is just a matter of removing the processor, replacing it with the better one you want, locking it down, applying thermal compound and putting everything back together. OK slight oversimplification.  See pages 79-85. Your Manual

Hello everyone,

Someone needs to upgrade their memory and video card. He has a HP 8562 Pavilion, it currently has 64MB SDRAM memory and a 8MB NVIDA Vanta 3D AGP Graphic Card.

He wants to upgrade to at least 256 of RAM and just an average video card: $50-85.00

What do you guys suggest?

A:Upgrade for a HP 8562 Pavilion?

For RAM go to www.crucial.com and eneter his system info and they'll recommend the correct RAM. Their prices are good too. If its Windows 9X get a 256MB chip to add to the 64MB, if its 2000 or XP get at least 512MB of RAM.

Does he play games? If not then leave the Vanta. If he does play games:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-128-133&catalog=48&depa=0

The first two offer DirectX 9.0 support and 128Mb of RAM, the third is a 64MB Ti4200 which is getting old but still holds its own very well.

Hi,You can have a maximum of 16GB of DDR3L RAM (2x8GB). Choose 1600mhz sodimms. For the most stable system it is best to buy a kit of two sticks of exactly the same ram. You can upgrade to an 2.5"  SSD of your prevered size. I would choose at least 240 GB or higher. The SSD will greatly increase everday performance of the PC.You will have to reinstall windows 10 on your system or migrate a system image to the SSD. I would choose to download and create a usb pendrive with Windows 10 from Microsoft and do a fresh reinstall of the OS https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10It will be automatically activated (just skip when asked for product key) as long as you install the same version you already had on PC. Examples of bying upgrades:RAM:https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=kit+16GB+ddr3l+sodimm+1600&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Akit+16GB+ddr3l+sodimm+1600SSD:https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_6_9?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ssd+sata+2.5&sprefix=ssd+sata+%2Caps%2C317&crid=2RZVY28LYBK2O&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Assd+sata+2.5  Hope it helps,David

I'm thinking to go for ddr4, but what prevents me is some threads I've read saying ddr4 won't even physically fit in a ddr3 slot (which is my current one) as well as this piece of info from Wikipedia: DDR4 SO-DIMMs have 260 pins (rather than DDR3's 204 pins), which are also spaced closer (0.5 rather than 0.6 mm), and are 2.0 mm wider (69.6 versus 67.6 mm), but remain the same 30 mm in height.source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR4_SDRAM  204-pin SO-DIMMs (DDR3) have a single notch closer to the center than on 200-pin SO-DIMMs.260-pin SO-DIMMs (DDR4), 69.6 mm (2.74 inches) wide and 30 mm (1.2 inches) high, making them 2 mm (0.079 inches) wider than DDR3 SO-DIMMs, with a single notch after pin 144.source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SO-DIMM Does it mean that a ddr4 SODIMM RAM chip wouldn't even physically fit into my notebook's slot? 2. Well, ok ... if I have to make my peace with it and stay with DDR3 can I AT LEAST install the fastest DDR3 i.e. PC3-17000 / DDR3-2133  because my current one PC3-10600 / DDR3-1333 is sorta slow at ... A:HP Pavilion 15-au006tx M.2 SSD upgrade possible?

We get this question a lot and right now I cannot advise anyone to buy an HP laptop with the idea of adding an M.2 drive to it when it did not ship with one. There are a couple long-running threads here, one of which seems to have concluded that on certain models the M.2 port is disabled in the BIOS, and another has shown that a model which shows an M.2 slot in the Service manual in fact has no such slot. See p. 34 of the Service Manual: Manual It appears from this Manual that you can have either an M.2 mSSD or a hard drive since it refers to an SSD board and cable. It's also clear that if you can use an M.2 mSSD you are limited to the SATA variety, which has no speed advantage over a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. I would buy it, since the specs are very good and swap the 1 TB 5400 rpm HDD for a 1 TB SATA-III SSD and if 1 TB is not enough storage for you consider putting the 1 TB HDD in an optical caddy. Who uses a DVD drive these days, anyway? If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hi!I am using HP Pavilion 15 Notebok PC (F6C42PA#ACJ). It came with Win 8.1 preinstalled on a 1 TB HDD. I have upgraded the OS to win 10 and now want to upgrade my HDD to a SSD. I was wondering if Transcend TS256GSSD370S and Samsung Evo 850 is compatible with my laptop. Also how to enable AHCI mode? I don't see any such option in BIOS.Thank you.

Hello,I am trying to decide whether it's time to buy a pc or upgrade my pavilion. The specs on the website show cpu upgrades that will fit my mobo and it shows an AMD Athlon X2 (Bt) will fit. It's a 3 core 3.1 ghz vs the quad core 2.2 ghz that it came with. I use my pc for warcraft mainly and my pcs specs should run it fine for the upcoming expansion aside from the cpu speed. I know that the game won't use more than 2 cores so I figure the CPU should be a decent upgrade. Is my thinking correct? Would there be problems swapping a quad core for a 3 core or will everything be compatible? Any info or thoughts woukd be appreciated. Thanks

A:want to upgrade RAM on HP Pavilion dv6000

Hi: I have attached the link to your service manual. Page 1-2 states you are already at the max with 2 GB. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035677.pdf If you know someone who may have a 2 GB PC2 5300 chip, you can remove one of your 1 GB chips and see if it works, and reports 3 GB. If it reports 3 GB, then it would report 4 more than likely. The chipset supports up to 4 GB of memory, but the BIOS may not allow it, and there are no BIOS release notes that add support for 4 GB of memory, so it would have to be an experiment on your part. Installing memory is relatively easy. read Chapter 5 of the service manual for how to do it. Specifically chapter 5, starting on Page 5-12. Remember to remove the battery and A/C power before taking anything apart. Paul

So now if i will put one of different MHz will there be any problem.
MY model no is hp pavallion g4 1303 au

A:Ram upgrade in hp pavilion g4 1303 au

HI. Your computer Supports up to 8192 GB of RAM system DDR3 / 1333-MHzRegardless of how you put the modules ie 4 X 4 = 8GB that would work in dual channel for the same amount in GB, it is possible to place 4 X 2 = 6GB but this way you will work in single chanel, on the Mhz this would not be A problem of incompatibility, but it will work to the chip that less Mhz has, according to the manual is to 1333, as I say you can place one of 1600 Mhz but it will not reach this amount, this also marks the motherboard. Manual Service:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03137358 Regards.

I downloaded the new BIOS from the HP support page for the 569, it's BIOS A0.07 Rev A from 2016-10-06.  I currently have BIOS ver 80.06 from 2015-04-01.  I tried to install from the UEFI BIOS firmware upgrade menu and it says "BIOS image did not pass validation".  I also tried to install from within Windows 10 and the option to upgrade is greyed out and below its says BIOS is not compatitble with my system.  Should this BIOS upgrade be on the 569 support page?
