I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I recently bought the Yoga 710 and I really like it, but I have ran into a problem with the touchPad. Everything worked fine up until the last few days. The three and four finger swiping gestures no longer work (I double checked the settings. Three finger gestures are on). Every other gesture works (one finger, two finger).  Anyboby else having issues with this. From what I have been able to find online, it looks like an issue that arises when you put your computer into sleep mode. Not really sure where to go from here as far as a fix. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Just thought I'd share this here since I had no luck setting this up with the built in GUI for the Alps touchpad settings on my new Y50-70. Here are some registry settings I found that worked for adding right and middle click functionality to the 2 and 3 finger taps. I'm just posting since I had to dig around for awhile to find something that works, and I hope this helps save other people some time.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Alps >Apoint > Guesture

"2TapSupport"=dword:00000003"Enable2Tap"=dword:00000001"2TapFunc"=dword:0000000d"2TapSetting"=dword:000000ff"2TapShow"=dword:00000009

Same for 3 tap except
3TapFunc uses 0d

As always, be careful with your registry.

So I recently purchased a new laptop that has Windows 10 installed (Acer Aspire E5-573G) and I would like to change the way the touchpad taps work. Specifically, I would like a middle click from a three finger tap. It's an ELAN touchpad, if that makes any difference, and I have installed the latest drivers.
Everything I looked up on google said to either use some program from ELAN, or to edit the registry. There currently is no program installed on here from ELAN, and all the google results I could conjure up while looking for a download for the program are people wanting to get rid of it. The only thing in my programs and features from ELAN is what I believe is the driver - "ELAN HIDI2C Filter Driver X64 13.6.3.1_WHQL"
The suggested registry edit also isn't available for me. That is to say, the path "HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Elantech" does not exist.
I'm not sure what the correct way I should be going about this is. Everything else regarding the touchpad works as intended, but I have no way of customizing it beyond the settings in windows. And since I have zero interest in having Cortana or action center being on my computer let alone as mouse commands, those settings are completely worthless to me.

Hello I have recently purchased a Flex 15 with the Elan touchpad. I have noticed that I do not have an option to two finger tap for a right click. The settings for the Elan Touchpad provide me a way to two finger click (where i physically click the touchpad) but not for the 2 finger tap. This seems like a weird oversight since that functionality is so very common now for all laptops. Does anyone else have this issue? is there a way to get this functionality back?

When my laptop was previously working i could two-finger scroll on pages and such,
Now i cant, and i cannot find a setting for it anywhere.

ive downloaded a driver called 'scrybe' which allows me to do this,

Can anyone explain why my laptop previously let me do this and now cant? and how i could fix it?

Dear all, I'm Rob and I'm trying to configurate my new Thinkpad T470s. But I've a kind of specific problem with the touchpad. Because of my disability I cannot use my fingers seperatly, but instead I glide with my whole hand over my touchpad. About two or three fingers are touching the touchpad at the same time. My problem is that the mouse won't move as soon as more than one finger touches the touchpad.I went through all of the settings, disabled all of the gestures, but the problem stays the same. With my other laptops I just disabled all of the movements and it worked just fine, In the Lenovo settings there's such a setting. I hope someone understands my problem and know how to solve this.Thank you, Rob.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga S1 with a clean and up-to-date installation of Windows 10 Pro. Synaptics driver version 19.0.17.27 is installed.Two-finger touchpad scrolling rarely works in several UWP/Metro apps such as Calendar and Groove Music. When I attempt to scroll, a little crosshair appears on the screen and moves up and down instead of moving the page. Every once in a while it actually does scroll, but only at random and immediatey stops working again.Strangely enough, if the UWP window is in the background behind another window and isn't currently in focus, two-finger scrolling works fine. Non-UWP/Metro applications do not seem to be affected by this problem.Any help would be greatly appreciated.-gyokuroEDIT: I found a temporary workaround right after I posted this that doesn't fix the issue, but at least makes it less of an annoyance until this is fixed. If you click on the taskbar and then try to scroll in a UWP app, it works fine, and the tiny crosshair doesn't appear either.

As many of you have come to find out, some of the new drivers for windows 10 on dell laptops are messed up - you can no longer navigate back and forward while surfing in a browser with three finger multi-gestures - arguably one of the must useful gestures. I had this problem with the touchpad on my e5450. After 2 hours of trial and error, this is how I fixed it:
1. Uninstall the current touchpad driver - confirm that the DellTPad folder in C:\Program Files is empty(there may be a file left that you can't delete, but that's ok)
2. Restart your computer.
3. Download and install the windows 7 driver -  you will need to restart.
4. Navigate to the DellTPad folder again.
5. Now you will need to change the compatibility of all the application files(.exe) to windows 7(it may only need to be one or two files but I changed the 6 there just in case). To do this, right click on each file > properties > compatibility > change settings for all users > check mark windows 7 and run as administrator. Do this to all the application files but NOT Apoint - it will not auto-startup if you do.
6. Restart
7. Open the dell touchpad properties and adjust your multi gesture settings.
Note: while this method worked for me, your system might be different so ymmv.

For me it works with present driver by running Dell Touch application as Administrator and playing with properties in the Touch pad application, located on C:\program files\DellTpad

Hello,

I recently bought a Lenovo Y700 running W10. I am trying to get it set up the way I like and cannot find an option to use one-finger scrolling with my touchpad (two-finger scrolling is an option and works just fine).

Here are some screen caps of the driver discrepancy as well as the UI for the mouse, which has no option for one-finger scrolling. How do I enable this?

Hi. I bought a brand new Thinkpad T470s with Win10pro preinstalled. I have installed all latest win10 updates and lenovo updates and also BIOS is updated. I have the following problems that are most likely caused by Touchpad and the fact that it is a Microsoft Precision Touchpad. - I had to set "Choose how many lines to scroll" to value 8 in Settings/Mouse to get adequate scrolling speed in Google Chrome and most of other apps that I use - 2-finger scrolling freezes and delays now and then in SimpleNote- there is no way to adjust 2-finger scrolling speed in File Explorer and MS Edge Explorer. "Choose how many lines to scroll each time" setting in "Settings" and "Control Panel/Mouse" has no effect on touchpad 2-finger scrolling speed. I dont really use Edge as I prefer Chrome but this slow scrolling in File Explorer is unacceptable. Even my old Thinkpad X201 is better.- 2-finger scrolling in Device Manager is too jumpy and slow to use comfortably- 2-finger scrolling in MS Word 2010 was also jumpy couple of times, but most of the time it works OK- I use Gmail in a separate window which I created from Chrome with "Add to desktop" option and "Open as window" checked. When Gmail is used from this separate window, 2-finger scrolling is jumpy and delayed, also very unacceptable.  I suspect that these problems must be somehow caused by that Touchpad is Microsoft Precision Touchpad. Hi all,
I'm currently operating with a Dell Latitude (E6410) running Windows 7 32-bit. I have the default Alps touchpad built-in, and was recently ecstatic to find the driver for multi-touch on the Dell Support page, something I figured I'd never get privileged to since this doesn't have a Synaptics touchpad.
Everything works as it;s supposed to, as far as the options go under the Dell Pointing Devices menu. However, I noticed that two-finger options are missing, specifically a two-finger right click. This is odd, seeing as there are plenty of other two-finger options, and since two-finger right click has become a standard with multi-touch touchpads.
So my question is, is there anything I can do to get two-finger right click? I don't see any options officially provided by Dell, so I'm totally okay with installing software or drivers from somewhere else, as long as they work. I haven't been able to find anything myself, as it seems every driver and software in the world is developed with Synaptics in mind.

Hi everyone,
As the title says really. I just want to see if others are having similar problems before I bring this up with Dell directly.
Some pertinent info: This is my second 'XPS 15 9560' and both laptops have had the exact same problem. All drivers are up to date, windows is up to date so I'm using the latest precision drivers from microsoft. I have tried disabling double tap dragging and enhanced precision to no avail.
I'll be happily moving my pointer around the screen and as I lift my finger to click on something the pointer will jump about 5 - 10mm in a random direction, often causing me to click on the wrong thing.
The fact it's happened on both laptops tells me others must be having this problem too. I can't seem to find anything specific on the issue though.
It's driving me nuts and would like to know if anyone who has had this problem has managed to cure it? I've heard installing synaptics drivers can help with some touchpad issues but then you lose touchpad functionality so seems pointless to me, also this fix was for the 9550, last years model so not sure how relevant it is, although my understanding is it's the same touchpad.
Hopefully someone can help, thanks
Mark

However it still launches IE, not Chrome.

Before I start editing the registry, which is something I do as a last resort, does anyone have any other suggestions.

The current ELAN touchpad driver ("Lenovo pointing device", version 11.4.65.2, dated end of July) for Lenovo Yoga 3 14 scrolls multiple pages at once whenever I move my fingers just a very tiny amount. It's very frustrating! This doesn't happen in every program (Firefox and Explorer scroll smoothly, for example), but in many (such as Notepad, RegEdit). I made sure the mouse settings were set to "Scroll multiple lines" (not pages!) and within the ELAN settings, I made sure it was set to slow. This problem came only started with recent driver updates. When I revert to an older version in Device Manager, it goes back to "ELAN Input Device", version 11.15.0.4, dated beginning of July. Notice how the names differ and the version number is higher although it rolled out later. This driver doesn't feature allow as many gestures to be configered, but the scrolling issue is fixed.I had to use Microsoft's utility to hide updates to prevent the driver from updating again. Hi!
I got my Precision M4800 and I'm really about it.
But! I dislike the touchpad for one reason : No option to enable one-finger scroll. I'm kinda "old school" with touchpad and I don't like using my the two-fingers scroll and all the "fancy " features and the touchpad software don't have this specific feature.I tried the old driver version (7.0), but it's not compatible with Windows 8.1.
I can see a lot of values in the regedit ( HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Alps and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Alps ) but I don't know which one it can be,
Do you know if a generic ALPS drivers exist? Do you have a solution for this issue?
Thanks!

A:Enable one-finger scroll on Precision M4800 (ALPS touchpad)

Run the DellTPad.exe file in C:\Program Files\DellTPad.  This will give you an older interface which includes the one-finger scroll.

Hi everyone. I have tried searching here and on Google for a solution and can?t find anything for Yoga 710-15IKB owners. The only relevant thread I could find was from this user who is describing essentially the same questions, but nobody came up with a solution. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-710-Touchpad-Settings-Area-settings/t... I am trying to activate two touchpad features on my new Yoga 710-15IKB. Two finger scrolling. Two finger right-click tap.Increase speed of touchpad. (The mouse curser is painfully slow, even on the hightest pointer speed setting). However, I can?t seem to find any place to change these settings?I have tried the following: Navigating the touchpad settings via taskbar, looking at each tab (including the ELAN tab). There is no place to make touchpad gesture changes.Going into Windows 10 control panel settings for the touchpad. The only adjustment I can make is ?touchpad sensitivity?.Updating the ELAN driver in Windows 10 via ELAN tab > properties. This does nothing.Downloading and installing various ELAN/Synaptics touchpad drivers from Lenovo.com, none of them activating any ?gesture? settings that I can find. This one specifically did not even work? http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds118370 My questions: Does the Yoga 710-15IKB even support touchpad gestures? Are there any owners with this model who have success with activating gestures? Thanks for your... After I had warranty repair service, my touchpad is not working normally. The symtom is same with the below forums. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Lenovo-Yoga-710-15IKB-Touchpad-Settings-Tw...https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Synaptics-Control-Panel-does-not-open-Leno... But, the forum's solutions are not helpful to me. Actually, all fuctions were working alright before I sent my laptop to the Lenovo repair center. The touchpad gesture setting program, which is Synaptics Control Panel, is not openned, and my touchpad is indicated as PS/2 mouse port. Additionally, touchpad enable/disable key is not working (Fn + F6), and touchpad is alive when the laptop is in tablet mode.  Would you help me to solve this problem, please? Thanks

Hello, as the title states, I am having issues with my two finger scrolling with my touchpad. My computer is a new alienware 15, and I am currently running windows 8.1. I do have two finger scrolling enabled, and it works, it just acts weirdly and I would like help understanding what is going on.
This first and primary issue, is that while scrolling up or down a page, I will randomly jump way down the page or way up the page. I am not able to reproduce this issue consistently, so I haven't been able to properly measure it, it just occurs randomly while browsing. I believe it always jumps down while scrolling down and vise versa, but I'm not sure. And I believe the distance of the jump is about equal to page up or page down, but that might just be wishful thinking. I have no idea what is causing this, I have completely disabled tapping, so it shouldn't be zone tapping for page up and page down, but I don't know what else it could be.
The next thing isn't really an issue, but more something I'd like to understand the significance of. When I start the two finger scrolling gesture, a little box appears (seemingly in a random location) and shrinks away almost instantly. It seems to have nothing to do with where my mouse is, nor where my fingers are on the trackpad, so I really don't understand what it's communicating to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Issues with two finger scrolling on the alienware 15 synaptic touchpad running windows 8.1

I had the exact same problem, very annoying, I have Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, but the touchpad is Synaptics as well. So after a lot of searching on this issue, there was one possible solution: Remove the manufacturer driver, and install drivers from synaptics website. www.synaptics.com/.../drivers.php
If you cannot install the driver from synaptics website, (mine failed the first try), then you have to follow these steps:
1. After uninstalling the manufacturer synaptics driver, go to the lower right side of the screen, and click settings -- > power --> hold Shift key and press Restart.
2. A blue screen will appear with options. Choose Troubleshoot --> Advanced Options --> Startup Settings --> Click Restart.
3. After that, your computer restarts, shows u a numbered menu, choose number 7, which will turn off driver signatures.
4. When you are back in windows, download and install the driver from the synaptics website and install.

Hope it works, it worked for me.

inspiron 5447 Win10 - Touchpad, Multi Finger Gestures Not Working.
I have this problem over a year,
HERE I AM LOOKING FOR HELP AGAIN, IS THERE ANY NEW SOLUTION FOR THIS ISSUE ?
i heard about many costumers facing the same issue.
I tried unsuccessfully some fixing suggestions from the technical support over the year.
I still have the same touchpad problem and I very disappoint and its very hard for me using a new pc without multi touch over a year without any solution.
I have a feeling that DELL ignore the problem and ignore the costumers.
I am sorry that i wait for solution over the year, it was better if i was return it in time and get my money back.
for me it was a very bad costumers experience and ill avoid of buying DELL products in the near future again.

Has anyone used an Inspiron 13 7000 touchpad two-finger scroll gesture and also compared it to a Surface Pro 3?
I've been using the Inspiron 13 for months but just reformatted Windows on a Surface Pro 3 last night and wow - the 2-finger scroll responsiveness is virtually instant on that device.  On the Inspiron it always seems to take a bit of time to get going.
