T580 downgrade to Windows 7 out of box

Q: T580 downgrade to Windows 7 out of box

Please advise if Lenovo can deliver T580 with preinstalled Windows 7 Professional as out of box delivery so save several tinkering hours at user's garage. It had been tremendous performance issues with T570 with Windows 10 resource hog experience. I would not prefer to run Windows 10 again on T580 - high performance machine hogged by Windows 10. If Lenovo could pre-install downgrade option out of the box that would save several hours of research by end users, T580 with Windows 7 would perform more stable and solid provided if they have enabled all the drivers to function properly. This has been hugely frustrating experiencing to deal with T570 machine running Windows-10 Pro, I had to dump the machine. I dont have much confidence to run T580 on windows 10 pro, it would not even match T520 machine ( 7 years old machine) running on Windows -10. Looking forward for the solution, request Lenovo team to enable Downgrade option as part of the customization to save users's time and stable user experience. If Lenovo Does not deliver out of the box, first thing to do after the machine is to wipe out Windows 10 to install, Please let us know if the drivers available or I would be placing a ticket to go through 100 steps to get it done. Thank you,Mamba.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Why are you following guides about an installation error - have you had that happen?

Hello, I purchased a new computer for my grandma for Christmas, and it came loaded with Windows 8. Wow, what a mistake for an octogenarian. I am trying to load Windows 7, but don't really know what I am doing. I know just enough to get into trouble. I was able to access the convoluted BIOS and get it to boot from a DVD, but when I go to install from the Windows 7 DVD I have, it says "Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 1" (for all partitions too). I figure I need to wipe the drive first (?), maybe. I don't know if that is a good idea, or will just brick the computer. Can I just delete the drive partition from the advanced options given during the instillation? I really have a bad feeling about doing that. The computer is a Lenovo G585. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A:Downgrade to Windows 7

exactly want type of win7 dvd, upgrade, retail or oem? anyway, you will have to wipe the drive first. you should be able to delete the partition during the installation. you can also use a thirdparty utility such as deban.

I had heard that there is a free "downgrade (an upgrade IMO) to win 7. Again, the problem is that I no longer have a key to activate it.

Can I buy another product key from MS or elsewhere?

This may seem like a fairly novice question so bear with me here.

I have a laptop which had Windows 8 pre-installed. It worked fine for 2-3 years however the hard drive has recently failed on it.

I would like to get a copy of Windows 7, as I prefer it over 8, installed on a fresh drive. Would there be any issues with this as I'm looking at getting an OEM copy to keep costs down and I have read that it "ties" to the motherboard so that you can't transfer it onto another device (which I'm not looking to do anyway).

A:How to downgrade from Windows 8 to 7

First thing is to verify there are Windows 7 drivers for all the hardware. Go to the Laptop vendor's site and see if there are driver downloads for Win 7 for this specific model. If not, there could be problems with some drivers.

If there are no driver issues, then you can "go for it".

Hi,

I have an Asus N61Jv Intel Core i5 M430 @ 2.27GHz - Nvidia GeForce GT 325M 1GB (also integrated? Intel HD Graphics) - 8GB RAM

Im having troubles with a couple of games, where I believe they arent chosing the better GPU (325M).
Example;

I scan my PC on CanYouRunIt and this is what I get on Dead Island,

When I go in-game though, it's kinda choppy, lag-like, slower than it should run.

I cant figure out how I force/chose prefered GPU, i've been on Nvidia control panel but im not sure if it's showing every option on there. (strange)

It seems like I have Windows x86.
I read at some post I found through google that someone else had Windows x86 and had same kind of problems (on a different system though).
He wrote:

"I solved the problem by installing windows 7 x64. I had windows 7 x86, and now after installing this windows it works perfect,i can use both them when i want by right-click on a game and select run with graphics processor->nvidia or intel. So at me the problem was solved after installing windows 7 ultimate x64, and x64 drivers from msi.com (my laptop is MSI). Thank you, hope my solution would help others in the future."

So I guess my question is how do I go from Windows 7 to x64?
Or, if anyone has a different solution to my problem?

Im sorry if theres an obvious answer to this, and my question is silly!

Thanks,
Martin

Windows 7 is Operating System. Now, that x64 means 64 bits. So that's 64 bit version of Windows 7 OS.
(32 bit version is also known as x86,so that's same with x32 when you see that somewhere )
For 32 and 64 bit version of OS's you can read more at
http://www.sevenforums.com/general-d...omparison.html

To see what version you have I suggest you to follow this tutorial System Info - See Your System Specs and download that tool.

Most likely the bios is in Secure boot & Uefi mode. Personally! Just install something like Star8, to take you directly to the desktop.
You may find out, depending on the manufacturer, not all drivers are available for Windows 7, which means that you will have more headaches and problems, than you realize.

Hello MountainMan,

If it's been longer than one month since you upgraded to Windows 10 or you deleted the "C:\Windows.old" folder, you will not have the "Go back to previous Windows" option anymore.

Windows 10 - Go Back to Previous Windows

If the above is the case, then you'll need to clean install Windows 7 to go back instead.

Hello to everyone,

I have recently bought a notebook (Windows 8.1 pre-installed) with a 32 GB eMMc hard disk.
The specific characteristics are:
-notebook: Acer Aspire ES1-331
-processor: Intel Celeron N3050
-ram: 2GB DDR3 L (I've bought a 4GB Hyperx Impact, but I've reintroduced the previous for the time of installation)
-hard disk: eMMc 32GB + Samsung SSD 850 EVO (where I want to install Win7)

My idea, right from the beginning, was to downgrade Win8.1 (installed on eMMc) and install Win7 in a bigger SSD Hard Disk (the Samsung SSD with 250 GB).
The manual installation of the hard disk went well; is not broken beacause I was also able to create a "Volume" (like C:// D://) in Win8.1.
I think that the eMMc is soldered somewhere beacuse i wasn't able to find and remove it.

I have tried to install Win 7 with a bootable USB, created first with "Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool" (but the problem is the same) and then with "Rufus"; there are three possible type of bootable that can be created:
1) MBR for BIOS or UEFI-> tried to change setting in Bios to Legacy insted of Uefi and I was able to detect the USB but after the first screen loading files with the gray bar at the bottom, at the second screen with "Starting Windows" the display turn off, then turn on and freezes with a black screen
(I also disabled Secure Boot)
2) MBR for UEFI
3) GTP for EUFI -> for both 2 and 3 I change the settings in BIOS from Legacy back to UEFI, but the sc... Read more

A:How to downgrade to windows 7 on XPS 13?

Hi graffixnyc,
It could be upsetting when you find it difficult to use a software. Microsoft provides downgrade rights to Windows 7 Professional for pre-installed copies of Windows 8 Pro. We will send the USB key with Windows 7 Professional if Windows 8 Pro came pre-installed from Dell. You have to purchase a copy of Windows 7 and install it, if the laptop came pre-installed with Windows 8.
I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name ‘DELL-Rajath N ’highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide the system’s Service Tag and contact details(including the name on the account) so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message. Please let me know if this helps

If you don't have your Windows 8 product key, the first thing I would do is run showkey plus from this forum to get it:
Showkey - Windows 10 Forums

To go back to Windows 7 you will have to clean install Windows 7. If you don't have the Windows 7 disc, you can try to download it here with your Windows 7 product key:
Windows 7

You can try to undo the upgrade to Windows 10 like this:

If that option works, it will take you back to where you were before the upgrade to Windows 10.

A:Downgrade To Windows 7???

Hi,
Why do you want to use '7?

1. Your laptop appears to have been sold with Win 10.
Asus X540LA-XX004T 15.6-Inch Notebook (Black) - (Intel Core i3-4005U 1.70 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Windows 10): Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories
If so, you probably won't have compatible drivers available.
Would your BIOS work with Win 7?

Asus X540LA - Downgrade to Windows 7 : techsupport

2. Back up all data on the drive or in the partition.
3. Consider any issues related to GPT format if used.
4. Clean install Win 7, deleting all Windows 10 partitions (there may be several- more if you use UEFI boot).

Otherwise, you could run '7 as a virtual machine. This should even give USB access.

Finally, if you're determined to experiment and have the time to do so, I suggest
a. (easiest!) put in a spare HDD and try it. But be prepared for it not to work or at best show heat management issues
or
b. Create a full disk image, Wipe the disk and install '7. If it fails, restore the disk image.

Hello, World!

I have a quick question regarding my choices...

I have my self-build desktop computer with me at University, recently was unable to boot into Windows for some unknown reason. Needing the computer for work, I backed up all of my files using Hiren's BootCD and then wiped the disk clean to reinstall.

I bought a retail copy of W7 Home Premium, which I had been using on the computer, but those disks are at home I borrowed a W7 Professional disk from a friend, and installed that, seeing as I need the computer for exams...but it obviously won't let me use my Home Premium keys. In a pinch, this is fine because it will let me get my work done until I get my own disks from home over the Christmas break...

I was wondering if there was any possible way to, without doing yet another clean reinstallation, disable the "professional" features by downgrading to Home Premium. I know that it is a stretch, but I am sure that there is a way to do it.

Cheers,
James

hello guys. i currently have a windows 8 i want to downgrade back to windows 7. i have created a bootable dvd and usb. but when i restart the computer, the dvd wont boot. and i get confused when it comes to changing the boot order and stuff. any help on how to successfully boot the dvd/usb?

A:Downgrade to Windows 7

If you have a bootable usb there are various ways to make the system boot from it. You can change the boot order in bios, or in msconfig but the easiest I think is to type "windows to go" on the start screen and change it as below. It will then boot from any bootable USB you have inserted.

hope this helps

I have recently purchased a Thinkpad L560 with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. I would like to downgrade OS to Windows 8.1 Pro. Microsofts gives users such a right. However, to activate Windows 8.1 I need to get a licence key for it. Microsoft's tech support assistant has informed me that the only way of obtaining that key is to request it from computer manufacturer as it is OEM version of Windows. So, how exactly should I obtain licence key for Windows 8.1?

A:IS there a way to "downgrade" to Windows 7 from 8.1???

Yes there is. Depending upon the hardware, devices, etc. of your desktop or laptop. If the computer was designed for Windows 8, rolling back will very likely require a hunt for the chipsets and devices involved, a hunt for Windows 7 drivers to match said chipsets and devices. I had my local business-oriented computer store roll my newest laptop from W8 to W7Pro, it costs because I am not savvy enough to pull heatsinks off of numerous chipsets, find the correct drivers, install said drivers properly. I hope you have an easier time for your rollback.

Hi, I have a ProBook 6460b that's broken and until I decide to buy something newer, I want to just take the hard drive out and use it in an older Desktop that I have laying around. The problem is, the desktop needs a 32 bit version of Windows 7, so my HDD with the 64 bit install doesn't work. This laptop came with Windows preinstalled. Can I get a 32 bit disk so that I can switch my drive over?

A:Downgrade Windows 7 64 bit to 32 bit

Channelz28 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Sorry, but the Windows licenses that come with preinstalled versions of the OS are NOT transferrable to other machines. While you CAN change out the drive in your PC machine and reuse the same Windows license, what is NOT legal is moving the copy of Windows from your HP machine to a different machine. This is because, with OEM licenses, the copy of Windows belongs to the machine, not to the owner.
