Lenovo IdeaPad 510-15IKB No Power Indicator, won't Power On

Q: Lenovo IdeaPad 510-15IKB No Power Indicator, won't Power On

Hi, I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 510-15IKB that has developed some issues. I took it apart to replace a faulty fan module, and put it back together and started having issues with video to the display not working. Took it apart again to reseat all cables and look at the display cable and its connection to the mainboard. All looked fine... and the notebook started fine and I had the display working again. Then after a power recycle lost the display again, so took the notebook apart again, and found that if I removed the main power to the mainboard and reconnected it I could get the display to come back, but only until I recycled the power to the computer again, then it was gone. Decided to just live with the notebook display not working and just use an external display via the HDMI connector, which worked fine for a few days... then the notebook just shut off. Now it will not power back up... the AC adapter is good, verified via multimeter, I have tired to power up the notebook with the battery disconnected, no-go, with it connected, no-go, I do not get a charge or power indicator at all anymore. I think the notebook should power up with the internal battery disconnected, yes? It does not. I looked in the Lenovo maintenance manual, and these symptoms point to a bad mainboard. I can't believe that it could be bad on such a new notebook. The fan going bad after less than a year I can live with, but loosing the mainboard is disappointing if that's the case here. I have two other Lenovo notebooks and have been very pleased with them, this could kill my respect for this brand. Am I missing something? Thanks, Tim

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I just got my ideapad 210 today and was wondering if it is possible to get a regular laptop charger for it. The one supllied with the machine is very short and the powerpack unit attached to the plug is incredibly bulky. Very poor design feature. I have looked online and can only find similar power supply units.I have had issues with 3rd party power supplies in the past and I was wondering if Lenovo produce a more 'old fashioned' but useful power cable?

Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15IKB (80XL02T0RA) doesn't turns on and off by power button.BIOS Version 4WCN39WWI've dowloaded latest drivers, fixes and installed all of them. After this actions power button stopped working.I think it happened after BIOS update.I can only turn on laptop by using NOVO button. Although the light on the power button is shining when laptop is on.I've seen somwhere on the internet about disconnecting battery from BIOS to restore factory settings, but this laptop almost just from store and I don't want to break warranty with this action. What can I do without returning this PC to the store?Maybe I can somehow downgrade BIOS version?Or maybe there is a safer way to fix my problem?

Hello, My new laptop came with a faulty AC adapter (model ADLX65CDGE2A), and in order to get it replaced I'd have to send my laptop along the adapter, which I don't want to (if any are wondering, emag.ro is where I bought it from).Anyway, I've been looking to buy a replacement AC adapter but everything I got is 2.25A - the original says it's 3.25A, same voltage, 20V). More than that, almost (if not) all Lenovo AC adapters are 2.25A - talking about those in Romanian stores. Now, my question is: does anyone have this model with a 2.25A AC adapter? Eventually by default?I know it's a matter of charging time - I've got an iphone which I'm charging with the iPad AC adapter because it charges faster - but does it actually decrease battery life? That's all I'm worried about.Thank you in advance! Alex

Went to turn on my Lenovo Ideapad Y410p laptop and nothing happened! No led lights with power source on and battery in. When I used it two days ago, I ran AVG and spy-bot and everything was fine. Used it a little bit and turned it off. Now nothing??? Did the power/battery disconnect with holding power button for 30 seconds... nothing. Both batteries 9 cell and 6 cell had full charge, tried my other Lenovo charger... no go. A surge couldn't have happened as the laptop is plugged into same strip as my other lenovo laptop is and that one is working fine.

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y410p won't power on... No power light?

Hi jack61 ,

Greetings.

We now know, power drain failed. No LED error codes , No beep codes
No activity lights even with battery charging led.
Not turning on even with known good charged batteries.
No power even with known good ac adapter.

What we can try:
Try plugging it directly on the wall and press novo key (number 1 page 7) to turn it on instead.
Check if the power port shows any signs of burnt / damage / looseness .
Press Novo key using a charged battery.
Remove battery, harddrive , memory and other accessories and plug directly with a known working adapter and or with a charged battery ( it should at least beep).

If all fails , you can have it checked for the motherboard issue with a technician (checking on the internals /cleaning or reseating parts connected to the board / applying thermal paste (for processor isolation) / checking on dc in board and port).

You can check for your warranty here and call in tech support for service.

Regards

My IdeaPad just suddenly turned off while I was playing a game. AC adapter was plugged in is so I guess battery is fully charded.  When I press power button, the power led lights up. It doesn't blink or anything. It lights constantly. But nothing else happens. No sound or anything.  When I press and hold the power button the led turns off after a few seconds.  When I connect ac adaptor the ac led turns on (white). It doesn't blink or anything. I guess it means that the battery is full.  I've tried to hold the power button for a few seconds (as a lot of people suggest here) but it doesn't change a thing.  Please help me. This laptop is 8 months old. The battery is non removable.

Hello, I've had the Lenovo Ideapad 720s 15IKB with an i5 7300hq and GTX 1050 TI Max-Q design for about a month now, and occasionally use it for gaming. The only game I really play is GTA V, and it runs well on high settings at 60FPS for about 5-10 minutes, and then the CPU power throttles and the game drops FPS down to around 45. I've measured this with ThrottleStop. Temperatures are very manageable according to MSI afterburner and Open Hardware Monitor, far away from thermal throttle (73C/165F on avg). It took me a while and some research to figure out that the CPU was power throttling. Is there anyway to fix this? As far as I can tell, the CPU boosts just fine to around 3.1 (I believe that's the max boost?) and then when it throttles after a couple minutes of gaming, it drops down to around 2.5 or less, and this kills the framerate. This pretty close to being a deal breaker for me (I know this laptop was not made for gaming necessarily, but considering the hardware it has, it should be more than capable). I'm just wondering if there is any fix to keep the laptop from throttling, or at least throttling as much as it does. I am ok with repasting the CPU and GPU if it means higher temps.

A:Ideapad 320 15IKB power key goes off in 1 sec. Cannot boot or anything. Charger problem?

con'd   More symptoms:  I tried charging for several hours.  Original Lenovo charger light stays on as if it is charging.  Power light comes on for about 1 second then a slight click and goes off.  Sounds like a dead battery.  Cannot boot or anything.  This laptop worked well for 2 months then went off unexpectedly a couple of days ago while in Europe.  Charger was plugged in but I was talking some and not paying attention if charging.  I could have easily missed the low battery warning.  The 110/240 charger looks okay as does its barrel tip and the power in port on the laptop.  I tried several electrial outlets and several plug adapters with the Lenovo when I got to England where I am until Thursday when I return to the US.  I will try another charger there.  Any ideas? Thanks. -GeologistGene

Hi Lenovo4g510i5,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with power in your Lenovo G510 laptop.

Perform the power drain, to perform please disconnect all the external devices connected to the system shut down the machine and remove battery and adapter. Now press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Now connect the battery and turn on the system and check for the issue.

This is to drain the static charge as the LED might be due to the static charge.

Best regards,

Hello! I recently decided to dig up my old Lenovo Ideapad Y410p, and to my surpise, it had been dropped before without my knowledge. I proceeded to attempt to plug in my PWR+ I7 replacement charger, and to my surpise the power button had lit up (the one on the palmrest/keyboard's surrounding area), and the power indicator (this one was white) and the battery indicator (this one was amber) were on aswell! I saw no signs of life from the screen, nor did I hear my fan, hard drive, or etc.. turn on as I tried to turn on my Ideapad. Furthermore, I tried using the Novo button, and used several reccomended methods of pressing the power button with and without the battery and/or charger, I don't know whats wrong with my laptop! I am capable of assembling and disassembling the system, as I have done it before, but what should I do in this case?

In the BIOS it is saying battery is still good. Is it a problem with some IC component is burnt due to voltage issues or something like that? Power adapter is also seems to be fine. We tried it with a different adapter but the result is still the same.

Hello,

My Satallite R830 won't turn on.

The power symbol flashes orange 8 times then pauses and restarts. there are 6 quick flashes followed by a longer one on the 7th flash then another quick one. The wireless symbol is lit up (orange) all the time.

If I unplug the laptop and take out the battery and hold the restart button for 30s then without the battery plug in the charger the flashing stops and the power symbol goes green, until I try turning it on, it has a split second where it sounds like it's booting up then stops and the orange flashing resumes.

Same thing happens if I unplug the ac adaptor and the battery and then tried the above but with the battery and no ac charger.

I have tried with another adaptor (same amp and volt output).

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

A:Satellite R830 won't power up - flashing power indicator

>6 quick flashes followed by a longer one on the 7th flash then another quick one

If the power supply microcontroller detected an error the DC IN lamp sends a blinking code.
The short means 0 and long means 1.
I your case this means: 0000 0010

Since error code starts with LSB (least significant bit) you have to read it from behind
0000 0010 -> 0100 0000 -> 40 H (hex)
Now you will need to know what 40 H means

According to some details which I found in internet, the 40H could be the S3V output fault. (S3V voltage is over 3.47V)

However, such errors are mostly related to motherboard problem (internal circuit problem) and from my point of few only part replacement would fix this error.

I have an issue with my Lenovo IdeaPad G710 (model name: 20252).
When I press the power button, the led indicator lights up, the fan starts spin but the monitor doesn?t turn on and the computer doesn?t power up.
Sometimes if I leave it for a couple of hours like that, it starts up by itself and after the OS (Windows 10) is loaded, it works fine. After that if I turn it off, the problem arise again.
I?ve tried with external monitor also but the situation was the same.

Hi,  I tried to power up laptop. It would not power up. just white blinking light. I tried most recommendations i found online, like unplug power adapter, batter, hit button 10 seconds, 15 seconds 30 seconds, remove ram nothgint works.  I removed back cover. unplugged i guess the power port. then blinking light went away, I thought maybe it's stuck in sleep mode. It was defintily dead. plugged back in power port. The blinking light came back. the fan spans. just computer does not boot up. What are the odds both batter and power adapter both dead.  thanks for your help,

Hello, I have bought a lenovo ideapad 320-15ast,Cpu: AMD A9-9420 3.0GRam: 8 gbAdapter Description AMD Radeon(TM) 530Adapter Description AMD Radeon(TM) R5 Graphics The laptop is bought 3 months ago, since the day one I have been experiencing bad things.Such as:The battery doesn't charge always when it is plugged in, it just says "Plugged in, not charging" and it is stuck at 95% for an example, sometimes it is 99%, 85%, 97% (it is really random). I have tried to troubleshoot it, tinker a bit with the settings, have done everything possible so far (at least everything that I found online that is related to this issue), but again, a faulty battery is not a big deal atm. My laptop restarts out of nowhere, at least once or twice daily, well that is actually a big problem for me, cuz restarts are inpredictable, it happens randomly (When I am using chrome, playing video games, doing something in MS Word, or not doing anything). I checked the event viewer, and this is what I get: Critical - event id 41, Kernel-Power:The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. I tried to do everything that I can system-wise (tinkering around with all the possible settings), the problem was not solved, so I decided to reinstall windows again, I did, the problem wasn't resolved, then I tried to reinstall it again, the problem wasn't solved (which means I did a c... I have a LeNovo IdeaPad 100-15IBD, Model Name 80QQ, purchased Feb 2015. When I try to power it up, the power light comes on and the battery light comes on, but there's no fan and the screen is black. If I press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (with the lights on) the lights go off again, which I presume is doing a hard power down. I have tried removing the AC power and the battery (which involves taking the keyboard off first!), leaving it an hour, pressing and holding the power button several times for 20 seconds each, then plugging the battery and AC back in and powering up - but the symptoms are unchanged - power light, battery light, no fan, black screen. I have tried the "One Key Recovery" procedure using the Novo key - this produces the same symptoms as a normal power up - power light and battery light come on, but no screen and no fan. Any suggestions? I'm still in warranty so worst case I can send it off to get it fixed, but I'd rather find a way to fix it myself and not have to send it away.

Unfortunately my Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 Laptop has gone faulty just a month outside my two year warranty.  After being inspected this has come back as being customer fault as it is the centre pin in the power connector that has been bent that has caused the issue.  However Feel that this is a very poor design and that for an item at this price point that it is not fit for purpose.  Also when I was speaking to a work friend they had bought the same item only a few months before me and had the exact same fault.  I have since done done a small search and seen this same issue has been raised on a few forums over the last few years.   I was was hoping to get a view on how common this was and if you have been able to resolve.  If anyone else has had this issue please can you let me know and also how long you had the item before the issue began.  Many thanks

Hi,  Wondering if anyone can help. My Lenovo ideapad 100 suspends the computer after 5 minutes of inactivity (while pugged in), despite the power settings at 60 minutes on power and 20 minutes on battery.  I don't know why, but it has only started doing this in the last few weeks. Has there been a Windows 10 update or something that would mess with the settings?  But more importantly, what can I do to fix this? I need to be able to review work without my screen going blank after this short period of time.

In December of 2015 I bought my daughter a Lenovo 300-15ISK IdeaPad. In many ways it was a good laptop, but it wasn't durable and I wouldn't buy another one. After 5 months (May 2016) part of the housing around the power connection was broken. Because of this the power cord wouldn't plug in all the way and the IdeaPad wouldn't charge. I took it back to where I had purchased it (MicroCenter) to be repaired. I was told that this type of repair was not covered by the warranty, and the price they quoted me was over $300 (about 3/4 of what I paid for the laptop). I was upset that the repairs weren't covered and that they were so expensive. Other places near me had similar prices for this repair. Luckily I was able to jury-rig a solution so the power connection would stay in place and the IdeaPad could be plugged in and charged. My solution lasted until late 2016 before I needed to adjust it again. That 'solution' lasted until this March before it failed again. This time the power connection became detached from the interior of the laptop. So I opened up the laptop in order to fix it again. This IdeaPad was clearly not designed to be repaired -- opening it up was an adventure which strained my abilities and patience. I was able to reconnect the power connection and reclose the laptop, but the IdeaPad will no longer start. So I am left with a bricked IdeaPad, a poor opinion of the durability of Lenovo products, and a worse opinion of Lenovo warranty terms.

Hello friends, I have been struggling with my 4 year Lenovo Z580 ideapad that abruptly getting turned Off within 45/50 seconds of every power On. It's just instant and with small click noise. Upon continuous attempts i used to get very rare successful boots (keeping itself turned on even for hours/full day) upon 20/30 power on attempts with varying time intervals. Meanwhile i managed to run lenovo diags basic/extended on all peripherals with no errors, and managed to repair broken win 10 system/boot files couple of times thinking its BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO as it used to prompt earlier when it last powered on atleast for 2 minutes, But since couple of days its ALWAYS switching off within a Minute! Upon a lot of research i thought it could be since corrupted BIOS (might be caused by overheating CPU and fan not working for couple of weeks!) and as it also getting off upon simple DOS boots. So today, i decided to flash BIOS and followed instructions in a mail chain (https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Lenovo-Z580-BIOS-Mod-V3-1-FINAL-02-07-DOWNLOAD) as can't boot Win 10 anymore, Started flashing BIOS-Mod-V3-1... via a USB stick i prepared, though i'm quite fearful about an abrupt shutdown! I've heard battery could be un-chargeable if left to completely die and sit for a while but still don't get why laptop won't boot up when plugged in.  Am I dealing with something else internal in addition to a dead battery?

I?m sorry to hear that your Y510p Laptop is not turning ON. I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power, below are the steps to perform the same:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.

If the issue persists even after performing Flee-Power, I would suggest you to contact our Technical Support for further Assistance to get the details of the nearest Authorized Service Center to get the issue analyzed.

Hi, I recently bought an ideapad 310 and I've been trying to connect it to my TV using the VGA connection without success. As soon as I plug the cable in to the PC port the screen freezes and showing only the desktop. Any open window cannot be accessed and even though I can bring up the start menu I cannot launch any program and see it (the program runs but I cannot see it). The HDMI connection works well. Has anybody had the same problem? Can it be a display setting set wrong? Please advise. Many thanks in advance.

I ordered this laptop a few months ago from Amazon and from the start it had some malfunctions like mouse glitches and speaker glitches while playing sound. I said ok I can live with that. Then progressively it started to get slower, then a few days ago the screen would suddenly turn black, so I would have to force shut down. And restarting has a 30% chance of success, if it doesn't freeze mid start-up. McAfee is newly installed and always scanning for viruses, but I can't do a full scan now without the laptop freezing and quiting. I don't know if it's a problem from windows 10 or the laptop. Maybe both. Can someone please help and advise what to do. Thank you.
