I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently perchased LENOVO topline X1 Yoga 2nd gen OLED 20jD. I am really dissapointed with LENOVO topline laptop.  It is absolutely buggy laptop. Forget about using Chrome guys with this topline laptop/ After a few minuts your new yoga will stop working/ scrolling  Tomorrow I probably returning this buggy laptop back to lenovo and wait for another manufacturer who could launch OLED laptop without rush!

I've been having constant blue screens for a long time.

It used to be on Windows 7, but I made a post and there were no replies so I tried to upgrade to 8.1 (already had a disc) hoping to have that solve some problems.

They are less often now but I've still had 3 today.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is a very frustrating problem for me.

Note for attachments: The one labeled 'TEST' is from this install of Windows 8.1, the one labeled 'Cory' is from the Windows 7 install, I included it because there are dozens of dump files in there that might also be useful.

Good day everyone,

I came to you and asking for help in order to fix what others tend to evade it as much as they can. To put it simple I work as an IT support and recently somebody reported that it cannot power on the machine. Apparently two laptops wouldn't turn on so a call has been raised to the Support company and short after a technician came and replaced the motherboards on the damaged laptops. All nice and shiny till one of them started crashing with BSOD errors (the ones in the topic title), it had been already upgraded to windows 10. To mention that both laptops are identical and also I notice that after the motherboard replacement the technician had some problems booting to a service stick in order to replace the SN and he made some changes to BIOS in order to complete his task. Later on in my attempt to search for a solution I came across a BIOS update on Lenovo website (V1.22 newest to which I update it successfully, board had V.1.18) which stated that it fixes an issue with the service USB stick not being recognized. Reverting the BIOS settings to default, resulted in being unable to boot into existing OS from the HDD, so I had to install windows one more time. To my surprise it did go well for few hours but short after it appeared again, making it unusable for work. Drivers are up to date and there aren't any other programs that my cause this issue. A second call has been raised but I still wait a reply from them. I attached the Zip files requested... Read more

OK, first off - these errors are typically hardware errors.  But over the years we've found that they can also be due to compatibility issues or even low-level driver problems.Secondly, some of this may repeat work you've already done.  Please let us know if you've already done something that we suggested. Your UEFI/BIOS (version JEET73WW (1.22 )) dates from 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a more recent update.FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).Only 54 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems have 180 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).Interestingly, there are 3 STOP 0x9C errors listed in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report. These errors were replaced by the STOP 0x124 error starting with Windows Vista.I'm not sure of the impact of this, but it bears watching IMO. The installed programs don't seem typical for what I'd expect to see on a Lenovo system.I would suggest visiting the... I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Disclosure:  I received these laptops from Lenovo as part of their advocacy program, so huge thanks to the folks over at Lenovo. I don't receive compensation for my review, and as always, all opinions are my own.

The ThinkPad X1 Yoga is first modern ThinkPad that I've ever owned.  I?ve been using Lenovo?s Ideapad lineup for a very long time, and while I?ve used ThinkPads in the past, the X1 Yoga will be my first personal ThinkPad that I own.  So how does it stack up to the Yoga 910?  Let?s find out! I have the i7 UHD model of the Yoga 910 and the i5 FHD model of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga.  I tried out the latest Yoga 920, but I haven?t tried the latest X1 Yoga yet? hopefully, I will!

Hardware & Design
Even though both laptops carry ?yoga? in their name, the hardware behind them is vastly different.  The ThinkPad X1 Yoga has the classic ThinkPad black design, which is made of a carbon-fiber hybrid for the top cover and a magnesium-PPS hybrid for the bottom cover.  The Yoga 910 has a similar design from the Lenovo?s Yoga lineup, with an aluminum build throughout.

The ThinkPad only comes in two colors: classic black and silver; whereas the Yoga has a whole suite of colors to choose from, such as silver, copper, bronze, and even a few exclusive designs, such as the Vibe designs for the Yoga 920 and the Star Wars themed designs for the Yoga 910.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

Just curious, why is the new Thinkpad X1 Yoga I7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, FHD about $1,000 more than the similarly equipped commercial Lenovo 910?

Is it the ThinkPad brand name? The eraser nubbin? The 2 combined?

Just curious.

I've got a friend who needs a new laptop. She likes the touch/fold aspect of my 1st gen Thinkpad X1 Yoga. Do you all think she would be happy with the commercial Yoga 910?

Any real reason to get the new plain FHD ThinkPad X1 Yoga instead of the similarly equipped commercial Yoga available at Best Buy besides spending an extra $1000 for the ThinkPad brand name?

I've owned 6 various ThinkPads since 2011 FWIW. I get it, they're cream of the crop. But I kinda got sticker shock when I just priced out a plain FHD (and we need nothing more) X1 Yoga. About  $2,800, wow!

Best to everyone...

A:Why is the ThinkPad X1 Yoga $1,000 more than a similar Yoga 910?

@Jelks, The biggest difference I see between the X1 Yoga (2nd) and the Yoga 910 is active pen support which seems to be missing from the 910. You could use a capacitive stylus, but expect fingertip resolution, not pinpoint, and no pressure-sensitivity. Fewer USB ports: no HDMI or MicroSD; no Thunderbolt. No TPM module, if you need to store encrypted creditials, e.g., for BitLocker. Not sure about battery life; they claim up to 9 hours of local video for the 910 vs. up to 15 of MobileMark for the X1. Not an apple-to-apple comparison. You're not going to get the (soon to be patched, at least for now) security hole that is Intel's vPro management tech. You may not get Windows 10 Pro, possibly just Home (but you could always give Microsoft the money to upgrade if you need BitLocker or Remote Access). You're not going to get all the "mil-spec" design and testing etc, but if it's a personal machine, you're probably going to avoid abusing it. As you suggest, the "wave" keyboard -- including the trackpoint "eraser nubbin" -- is definitely going to be more expensive on the ThinkPad than the plain Yoga keyboard. I used two generations of ThinkPads (T61p and W520), but about 3 years ago I switched to a Dell XPS 13. A year or so ago, I ordered a X1 Yoga 1st gen for my wife and she likes it very much, so I am pretty familiar with the design and capabilities. TLDR: I think most people would be happy with the 910 vs. X1 unless they want the active pen. Als... About two weeks ago, I began getting BSODs on a 9 month old ThinkPad T410 running Win Professional 7x64, OEM. This is the original install of the OS, and there have been no recent hardware changes. Prior to this issue, the machine has performed without any failures.

Today's failure happened quite spontaneously (or so it seemed to me) while the ThinkPad was sitting unattended and unused for about 15 minutes.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

It all started when I installed Win 7 after a Linux usage for a couple of months. First I thought it was uTorrent that screwed it up so I removed it but it still gave BSODs at least once a day. Haven't had the energy to do anything about it until now so now I'm asking you guys for advice how to get rid of it.
I have activated minidump in Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Setting in Startup and Recovery > Small memory dump (256KB) under System failure.
Got a BSOD a couple of minutes ago but I didn't get a minidump output from it.

Attached the four debug reports I got from SF Diagnostic Tool.

Appreciate any help I can get,

I just bought a Thinkpad Yoga from Best Buy and upon opening, found that the pen pro included does not work. I'm on the most updated version of all the drivers, and the touch screen and multitouch with my hands still work. After taking an multimeter to measure the voltage of the pen, I found that the pen just wasn't charging. I'm a bit hesitant to check the voltage of the charging silo itself but my suspicion is that the pen is dead. Could this be a software problem? Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Should I return to pen and the laptop to bestbuy or just the pen? Or should this issue be brought to Lenovo instead?

A:Thinkpad Yoga 460 (Best Buy) - Thinkpad Pro Pen do...

I don't have a 460, but I do have a 260, which is a smaller, but VERY similar machine.  I had the same problem and I believe it is not the pen.  Before you do anything, you need to unplug the machine and disable the internal battery.  You do that by going into the BIOS and under the config tab, look under power.  There will be an option to disable the battery.  When this is selected, the machine will turn off.  The battery is re-enabled the next time you plug it in.  IF THE BATTERY IS NOT DISCONNECTED, YOU WILL CREATE A SHORT AND BLOW A IRREPLACEABLE FUSE ON THE MOTHERBOARD.  Remove the pen and look inside, where you will see 2 contacts.  My guess is that one or both got pushed back into the housing during manufacturing process.  You can take something fine and sharp like a needle and gently free them so they will pop back out.  Once I popped mine out, the pen charged very quickly and I never had another problem with it.

Hi, I have 3 problems with my Yoga 460: 1. (this should be easy):Where do I get a backup image for my system from? I did not find any links on the support page. 2. I tried to download the bios update to version 1.18 from the website. If I click on the windows installer file, there is always the message "file not found". If I try to download the iso file (which is indeed working), I receive an error message about wrong format when trying to mount it to a usb drive. 3. This is the most important issue for me at the moment:As soon as I try to update my system with Lenovo Companion software, I always get the message that I would have to upgrade my Lenovo System Interface Driver. If I hit ok to install this app, I get a download link. I tried installing it several times. After having restarted the system, the same error appears again (with the same download link).  I would really appreciate if anyone of you could help me on these topics! Greetings from Germany, Simon

Is there a chance there will be such a long delay? Is it likely because of the Intel patches?

I've seen several threads about this issue, but none that address my specific concern.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14. It did not come with a digitizer pen included. However, I suspect that the screen does in fact have a Wacom digitizer layer. My rationale is this:

My computer came pre-installed with the Wacom Pen Calibration Software
Device Manager reports the following HID devices:-- HID-compliant digitizer-- HID-compliant pen-- Wacom Device
When I run the Wacom Hardware Check (available here), it reports "You have hardware compatible with the Wacom FEEL driver."
All of the 20DM008 models listed at http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/179 support the active pen (I cannot find the 20DM008U++ model there for some reason)

However, the computer will not recognize the ThinkPad digitizer pen I purchased.

So, I suppose I have three questions:

Am I just misinterpreting what I am seeing in the Device Manager?
Is it possible that Lenovo installs the Wacom screen on all it's tablets, but disables them somehow on models not marketed as digitizer ready?
If so, is there any way for me to enable my screen to allow for digitizer use?

A:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - Digitizer Pen

Good day.

Looking at the models that support pen at the PSREF link you included, please notice that it specifies "Active Pen". This is not the same as the ThinkPad Digitizer Pen. That's why it won't work for you.

You need the newer, AAAA battery-powered Active Pen. Apologies, but I don't have a link for it.

Edit to add: Have a look at this - https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178Please see the Compatibility section for important info.

Hello, I finally got my new Thinkpad Yoga S1, but there seem to be some issues with the NFC module. After startup, if I open the device manager it looks fine, but after a few minutes the "NFC proximity device" driver status changes to shows "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". Under Details > Problem Code it says "0000002B", and under Details > Problem Status "The Request is not supported/C00000BB". In the System Event Log I am also getting a few "BcmNfcIc driver has failed initializing NFC device." errors at the time it fails. If I do a right-click > Disable and then right-click > Enable on the device, it works again for a few minutes, but then shows the same error again. I'm using Windows 8.1, fully updated with Windows update, and all drivers/BIOS updated using the Lenovo tool. The NFC driver is version 1.1.0.3130 from 17/12/2013. I also had an issue where the Lenovo QuickControl together with "Windows Driver Foundation - User-Mode Driver" background process took up 95% of the CPU time all the time, which I solved by deinstalling QuickControl. I'm thinking the two issues might be related, with the QuickControl trying to unsuccesfully poll the NFC device. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Jan

I found out that Windows 8.1 Update 1 has just been released. This seems to have fixed the problem. After the update I had an error about the Lenovo PM Device, saying that it had corrup registry information. Deleting and re-detecting the PM device fixed the problem, and now everything appears to be working.

Hi, In October 2017 I bought a second hand Lenovo Yoga Thinkpad S1 on Ebay from a retailer in Germany. I live in Belgium.A few days ago one of the keycaps (the "{ [" key) broke off. The hinge is still intact. I messaged the seller and he told me that they don't have spare parts in stock. Can I still get a new keycap from Lenovo? Thanks in advance!
