I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have been using Firefox and a few days ago ads keep poping out when I open a website, then I discovered that a program called Scorpion Saver have installed itself on my computer. I have tried to remove Scorpion Saver by uninstalling it in Control Panel, but it showed me this message everytime.

Could not open key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER32\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Ext\CLSID
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

As the result, I was never able to uninstall it and it's driving me crazy lately.
PS: I am chinese so some of my programs are in chinese too, but they shouldn't have any problems

I recently seem to have acquired a program called "Scorpion Saver" that constantly displays unwanted banner ads and turns text into hyperlinks when I am browsing. I have tried to uninstall the program manually, and while it sometimes disappears for a while, it always seems to reappear within a few hours and continues to affect my computer in the interim. I would appreciate any help in getting rid of this program.

I was recently visited by my father for Thanksgiving, and while I was taking a nap, he tried to download iTune onto my computer. Unfortunately, he visited the wrong site and ended up putting a bunch of different programs on my computer, all malware as far as I can tell. They include, but are not limited to: Scorpion Saver, Optimizer Pro, Weatherbug (not sure if it came with them or not, but I got rid of it regardless), etc. My browser suffered from redirection, unwanted pop ups and window openings, additional ads on pages as well as pop ads. It also places ads under pictures on webpages, and creates hyperlinks in underlined orange randomly on the screen.

--First, I checked for any unrecognizable programs and removed them using Windows program removal. I removed Weatherbug and Scorpion this way, as well as a few others.
--Then I ran Rkill, then Malware Bytes. It registered around 60+ dangers, which I removed.
--When that failed to fix the redirection, I ran Roguekiller, then adwcleaner, then tdsskiller, which I found on this site. It fixed the redirection, but the ads and hyperlinks continue to pop up.

I need help cleaning this permanently, I hope someone can help me. Thanks very much.

Good afternoon!  I'm having issues removing Scorpion Saver from my computer.  I first tried removing the program through the Control Panel with mixed results. A couple of times it stopped the Installer Service from working and I had to restart it. Other times I received the following error message:

Could not delete key
\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel.

I tried using the Registry and Temp file cleanups from Norton 360 Premier Edition and also ran SpyBot.  I ran the Immunize first and was blocked from immunizing against certain keys in processes and programs due to not having "sufficient access."  Then I went into Safe Mode, ran it again, and got a clean run.  After that I ran the Search & Destroy and also got a clean run (making me doubt SpyBot's usefulness).

This morning, I finally got what I was praying was a clean uninstall through the Control Panel.  Scorpion Saver disappeared from my installed programs and the helper processes disappeared as well.  I had a few hours of bannerless browsing.... and then it came back again.  I'm still not seeing it in programs or processes and I don't have the confidence/expertise to start messing with registry keys.

Hello,

I have seen a similar thread asking how to remove ScorpionSaver.  I have the same problem.  Dell, Windows Vista.  I have run superAntispyware and it found numerous infections but the problem still persists.

I am a newbie at these forums and not too technical.  Do I just follow the directions posted from someone else who had the same issue now resolved, or is my case unique and in need of a one-off solution?

About a month ago I was experiencing weird problems with my browsers and made this post

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/515106/somethings-wrong-with-firefox-chrome-and-ie/#entry3214850

After whoever was helping me had me run like 10 different scans without finding anything I noticed Scorpion Saver in my installed programs and uninstalled it and all my problems went away. Now, for the past couple of weeks I haven't had those original symptoms I was having, but my browser's been acting just a little weird. Like it'll go nonresponive for a couple of seconds and come back. I didn't think anything of it until today when browsing amazon on certain pages it would show a white page for a long time and then finally load in some ads that said scorpion saver at the bottom.

So I searched on google how to really get rid of it and got this page http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-scorpion-saver when I did this (safemode, rkill, mbam) malwarebytes found like 60 something files and all of them said something about adpeak or scorpion saver or something similar, so I removed them. However, when I restarted in normal mode and tried to navigate on Amazon the same thing happened. Scorpion Saver was still there. So after searching the web some more I saw where someone said to delete the .dll files associated as well as anything in the registry with an associated name, so I used ctrl+f in the registry to find and delete anything with adpeak or scorpion... Hello All!
I want to first say, this site is such a blessing! Thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to help others find answers to our technical issues!
I, like many others, came in search of a solution for Scorpion Saver. I would just like to add, that I found a pretty simple fix (at least so far, so good) from Microsoft.
I went to the above website and clicked the green "Run Now" button on the right if the screen and followed the prompts. Scorpion Saver is gone!
I will keep you posted if it comes back. I hope this helps someone else!!

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding. Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one. If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem. Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me. Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed. Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding.   Delete junk with adwCleanerPlease download AdwCleaner to your desktop.Run adwcleaner.exeHit Scan and wait for the scan to finish. I've been having a lot of issues with my computer lately which seem to be stemming from Scorpion Saver malware.  Random lines are underlined, whenever I am looking at any products online, there will be photos and ads displayed from Scorpion Saver, and there is a small box to the lower left corner of many sites that plays ads featured by Scorpion Saver.  I attempted uninstalling and it no longer appears as an add on in Firefox or in the uninstall programs list, however the computer is still infected.  I would greatly appreciate any help!

A:Scorpion Saver: How do I get rid of it?

Hello, what browser are you using..

Run these next and see....
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
Important!! When you save the mbam-setup file, rename it to something random (such as 123abc.exe) before beginning the download.
Malwarebytes may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.
Make sure you are connected to the Internet and double-click on the renamed file to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.Malwarebytes will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button and continue. If you cannot update Malwarebytes or use the Internet to download any files to the infected computer, manually update the database by following the instructions in FAQ Section A: 4. Issues.
Under the Scanner tab, make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.Click on the Scan button. When the scan is complete, click OK, then click the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked and then click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The lo... I need help!! I am normally a Mac user, and have been for the last 20+ years, but my Macbook Pro broke down a few weeks back so I have had to go to using my wife's windows laptop until I get my new Mac delivered. Anyways, I was doing some shopping at Amazon.com and I noticed these windows popping up comparing different prices or whatnot. At first I though they were some new feature from Amazon or maybe some new feature from Chrome. Eventually, I figured out it was 3rd party software that somehow got downloaded on the computer. I immediately found the Scorpion Saver folder, but no matter what I did, it wouldn't allow me to delete it. That's when I finally got on Google and figured out it was some sort of Malware. Anyways, I have absolutely ZERO experience when it comes to PC's. The last time I used a PC was back when you had to manually change the autoexec.bat and config.sys folders, lol. In other words, I need help and given that I just had to spend almost 3 grand on a new Macbook Pro, I would prefer to do this myself instead of having to pay a couple hundred dollars to have some professional service do it.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

A:Please Help get rid of Scorpion Saver!!

In many cases these issues are the result of unwanted toolbars, add-ons/plug-ins, screensavers and browser extensions which come bundled with other free third-party software (often without the knowledge or consent of the user). These can often be the source of various issues and problems to include Adware, pop-up ads browser hijacking which may change your home page and search engine, and user profile corruption.Toolbars and add-ons install themselves in various areas of your operating system to include your browser and Windows Registry. Since some of their componets and behavior are determined to be harmful, anti-virus and anti-malware tools may detect and remove them as Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs).Most bundled programs and many toolbars and Add-ons can be removed via Add/Remove Programs or the Programs and Features in Control Panel, so always check there first. Alternatively, you can use a third-party utility like Revo Uninstaller Free or Portable and follow these instructions for using it. Revo will do a more thorough job of searching for and removing related registry entries, files and folders. Revo will also show the installation date...in most cases, all this junkware is installed about the same time.Remove anything else (newly installed programs) you do not recognize.Note: Not all programs show up in Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features. Some will have their own uninstaller by vendor design which can be found in the program's folder. Look for an uninst... Read more

I've scanned my computer with several different malware and antivirus. Avast kept telling me there was nothing wrong, but when I uninstalled it and used AVG instead it picked up something, a friend suggested I use webroot, and when I did it picked up more viruses. BUT I'm still having problems. And they all started with a game my son (who's five) somehow installed. The game had Scorpion Saver, Linksickle and some other things attached to it and by the time I figured out what he'd done it was too late. I'm afraid there's more than meets the eye here. Facebook is the main problem, it keeps freezing up but strangely it seems to be the only site that does. What should I do!? Malwarebytes doesn't pick up anything btw. But there's SOMETHING going on, I just know it! =/

So, I found Scorpion Saver in my installed program files a few months ago and since then I have tried everything I can find online/think of to get rid of it from running malware bytes to using combofix, but it is the most resilient thing I have ever come across. I usually use Google Chrome as my browser and I have the Adblocker extension running all the time. Strangely, I have no issues while running Chrome with this extension but when I try to run Firefox using the same extension I get dozens of popups and new tabs opening constantly making it impossible for me to use Firefox. So even though I can simply use Chrome and not have any issues it still worries me that this is on my computer and I would like any help you can offer to remove it.
Thanks,

Hi and Welcome!!
My name is Jeff. I would be more than happy to take a look at your malware results logs and help you with solving any malware problems you might have. Logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and know that I am working hard to get you a clean and functional system back in your hands. I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.

Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

Please be sure to subscribe to the topic if you have not already done so.
IMPORTANT NOTE : Please do not delete, download or install anything unless instructed to do so.DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision. Hi,
Last night I was infected with some sort of adware. I checked the list of programs on my pc and one that I am unable to uninstall is Scorpion Saver, which was installed last night without my knowledge. I tried running Rkill, which terminated 3 processes, ran SAS, and booted in safemode, and still the program will not let me uninstall it. I don't see any popups currently but it bothers me greatly that I cannot remove this program.
Can you please help me remove it? Thank you.
I'm on Windows Vista.
Not sure if it helps but it lists "Adpeak, Inc" as the publisher. Several other programs were installed as well but they were easily removed...not this one.
Rkill no longer detects any malware programs to terminate. SAS picks up nothing.

A:Infected with "Scorpion Saver"

Also it may be tricky to remove this because I still have the issue from my previous posts; my computer shuts off randomly sometimes, especially so when I'm running any sort of high-memory program or game.

Down loaded a program to read CAD files. I then noticed my computer was acting sluggish. I ran Malwarebytes and picked up a bunch load of items. I removed them and also removed the program Scorpion Saver which must have installed with the other program (Now removed also). I now am getting pop up ads from Scorpion Saver and other various things. I ran HiJack This and saw some strange things in there. Time to turn to someone who can help.  Thanks in advance.   Doug

I came to your site in hopes of removing ScorpionSaver which has filled my web searches with ads and pop-ups and when I downloaded and ran RogueKiller I received a blinking message that I have ZeroAccess as well. Even though I know better, I downloaded something I thought would be cool and low and behold I got stung by the Scorpion.  I'm on a Windows 7 Pro and primarily use Chrome as a browser.  I used the "uninstall" tool, but as you can see by the numerous pleas for assistance, it's worthless.  I'm slowly losing my mind and would greatly appreciate any assistance.

I saw your response to the other Lori and I've downloaded DDS and ran it.  Here are the 2 logs below.  I will patiently be awaiting your response and next steps.

Hello all,

I like many others have fallen victim to "Scorpion Saver".  I feel like I contracted this adware or whatever it is when trying to download speedfan.  I either clicked next to much without reading, or accidentally clicked on the wrong download link at first and downloaded a lot of stuff I don't need.  The biggest annoyance of which has been Scorpion Saver.  I've tried many different remedies, and I think I may have finally cleared it from my computer!  However I may have also deleted some things my computer needs in the process...

I'm posting this to seek help in making sure that my computer is free of all malware, adware, spyware, etc. that may have been left on my computer from that instance back in mid November.

Thanks in advance!

A:How do i get rid of scorpion saver on my computer?

Hello ... what is the exact message it asks?Run these next and see....Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Important!! When you save the mbam-setup file, rename it to something random (such as 123abc.exe) before beginning the download.Malwarebytes may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet and double-click on the renamed file to install the application. Issues.Under the Scanner tab, make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.Click on the Scan button. When the scan is complete, click OK, then click the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked and then click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The lo... This malware is driving me crazy. Scorpion Saver Services was downloaded along with a free pdf converter and it is painful.  I have tried uninstalling the program, but when I do I get prompted to allow the software to update on my computer.  If I click yes I am afraid that this malware will never go away, but if I click no it remains on my computer anyways.  I have CCleaner and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but neither seem to do the trick.  It has been about a month since the program was installed and I would really rather not have to go through and backup everything that I have been working on since the program was installed, so doing a system restore is kind of a last resort.  Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

For a couple weeks, I've been plagued with unwanted pop up windows. Websites I visit get hi-jacked by this junk. After doing some research, I discovered I have Scorpion Saver and I can NOT uninstall it.

I have Windows 7 and use Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes. I use Firefox.

MSE and Malwarebytes scans do not show any problems. I have also run CCleaner.

I followed the uninstall guide on this site

When I try to uninstall Scorpion Saver from the control panel/programs, I get this message on the Windows Installer Box:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 't.msi' in the box below
(the box below says)
c:\\temp\\

When I close that box, another one pops up:

(red circle with an X inside)
The installation source for this product is not available.
Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.

Anyhow, I'd be grateful for any assistance...thanks!

A:Scorpion Saver - Can Not Uninstall

Hello ClueleeinCA, Lets use these first

Which browser are you running?

.
ADW Cleaner

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the toolClick on the Scan button.AdwCleaner will begin to scan your computer like it did before. After the scan has finished...
<-insert any special instructions here for what to uncheck OR remove this line if there are none->This time click on the Clean button.Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process. After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S#].txt) will open automatically (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder..
.
.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".The tool will open and start scanning your system. Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications. On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Hi, I am new to this website and not very computer savy to posting on forums, so please forgive me if I make a mistake.  My questions is this: I have performed the scorpion saver removal per this website's instructions (I thought with success, Malware found about 35 entries, for which I removed them all while in safe mode & rebooted), but it is still appearing under programs listed within the control panel, is this correct?  Why didn't it take it out of this listing?  Is there anything else I need to do? Next question, should I turn on Windows defender? Thank you for your help.krtEdit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:scorpion saver still appears

Hello kimricaron -
It is important to note that Scorpion Saver is not a computer infection that is installed through exploits or infections, but rather it is bundled along with free software that you download off the Internet.

Before we can do anything we must first end the processes that belong to Scorpion Saver so that it does not interfere with the cleaning procedure. To do this, please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus. How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus
Now use this version of rKill listed below =>
iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
* Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
* A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
* NOTE : Do not reboot until instructed.
* If the tool does not run, please let me know.
Only if normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.
When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log. Post it in your next reply.
NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

You downloaded Malwarebytes earlier so please Update it and run a Full Scan.
Please post the log from that scan back here -

Next -
Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
* NOTE : Please close or save all work, as the computer will be R... Read more
