I recommend downloading and running Outlook PST Repair. It's a PST repair tool that I've used it in the past to recover emails, contacts, tasks and notes from corrupt Outlook files that are damaged or inaccessible. Supports Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/1bjhSi. (This link will automatically start a download of Outlook PST Repair that you can save to your computer.)

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ (W2K/XP Only)
· Install ewido.
· During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
· Launch ewido
· It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
· On the left side of the main screen click update
· Click on Start and let it update.
· DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.

Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Run Ewido:
· Click on scanner
· Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
· During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
· When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
· Save the report to your C: Drive
This will take some time to run!
Boot to normal mode
Post that log and a new HiJack log – If the Ewido log is too large attach it.

A:vista running extremly slow

Post some system specs and we can decide from there. In the tutorials section there is a tutorial on how to increase the performance of Vista by changing OS settings.

Attempt a defrag.
Defrag the registry.
Make sure you are Virus Free.

Those are the otherwise easy steps to increase your speed.

Hope this helps.

A:Java running extremly slow

Start with an uninstall, reboot and reinstall of the latest Java.

A thorough virus scan (see the Spyware section) would also be a GOOD thing.

Hi, My lap top Compaq Presario B1900 is running extremly slow. At the moment I am unable to even open files. A few months ago I noticed it was registering that the hard drive was almost full, which I found odd as I couldnt locate any extremly large files. I havent used it much and now it takes hours to get it going. Is there and easy way to search for files stored that are over a certain size? I have managed to delete files on the desktop hoping I might get a bit of speed back but as at right now, still waiting for my documents folder to open at 30min and counting. Please help me.

A:Help Laptop running EXTREMLY slow

Start here please
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353/

Clean boot the machine using the manual method and GO ONLY as far as STEP 3 pls. Do not proceed to step 4.

The go to this link below from MIcrosoft and in Control Panel add and remove programs, uninstall any programs you KNOW beyond doubt that you do not use.
Having done that run a disk cleanup.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/maintain/improveperf.mspx

Having done that go My computer, right click the hard drive , click properties and post the info re the capacity and free space.

On your reply please include details of your anti-virus installed.

If the computer is running with a noticeable improvement to allow you to doanload and run items then please do as below.

Please click http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/hijackthis/HijackThis.exe to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next reply.

DO NOT CLICK FIX or any other buttons or tabs pls. Hi-Jack is an extremely powerful tool and can with just the wrong mouse clicks cause havoc.

Now please run HiJack again, but this time click on Main Menu, then click on Open Misc Tools section, then click on Open Uninstall Manager, then click on Save List. and do the same as above please to copy and paste that result to your reply.

Please note I wish you to paste them as the actual open report, not as a file which I then... Read more

Hi all...yes its me again, back at cleaning my sisters puter.....this is what occured this time, she got notice to update her xp, she said she went to the microsoft site to update it..but then she had lots of popups and difficulty logging on to her internet (cable hookup), her isp helped her do a restore back to when she didn't add the update, now her systems acts as something is running constantly, and she gets warnings that her Virtual Memory is low.....I did a startup menu...and cleaned out what startup content shouldnt be there, one of which was "virtual Bouncer", I am not sure if i got that gone, but it didn't look as if it was coming back?? on a later msconfig check ..anyway, I also ran Adaware and Spybot S&D, her system still is extremely slow to respond...when i did a ctrl/alt/del and got her performance up....quite often it was peaking out at 100%....so....I did a hijackthis log. If I could please have someone look at this for me...so I can also clean that out.....I see they play alot of games..don't know if those cause trouble or not. After her system is clean, then I will approach the issue of connection to her cable internet....but this time I had her bring harddrive here..so I wasn't spending allll my time there....

Hey guys, I'm new here, and I really need yours help. Two months ago my computer started crashing on startup, BSOD, and after first crash, I boot it up again, and than works normally, like nothing happend. But I wanted to fix that, and I shut down all services on startup, that aren't related to Windows and I used used three antivirus programs, all showing no virusis in system. Than I updated all drivers, as BSOD code was some kind of problem with video graphics, even used some registry cleaners and Windows didn't crash any more. But than real problem showed up. Windows started to be very slow, and unresponsive, to open page in browser, it needs like 5 minutes, simplest task became too hard to do with my computer. I don't use it for gaming, just simpel stuff. I cleaned all the dust inside computer, but all the same. I couldn't deal with that any more, so I decided that it's time for fresh start.

That's why, I decided to do a clean install of Windows. On my great surprise, it's still slow as it was before clean install! Usage of CPU is never above 50%, and RAM also. I really don't know what to do next. Any help is welcomed! Thanks!

System spec: CPU - Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6500 @ 2.93GHz
Motherboard - ASRock G31M-VS2
RAM - 4GB
HDD - WDC WD5000AAKS-00WWPA0 ATA Device
Graphics card - AMD Radeon HD5450
OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit

A:Win 7 extremly slow, even after clean install. CPU running low, RAM ok

Did you install 3 antivirus apps just like before the re-install?

Open Resource Monitor and switch to CPU tab and sort Processes and Services by CPU and take a screenshot. Also switch to Memory tab and sort by Working Set and take another screenshot. Post both here. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums

Also try a clean startup - Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Hi,

I am posting due to my Dad's work computer running extremly slow. The mouse movement is very jumpy, programs take an extremly long time to load and run much slower than my own computer, and the start-up is extremly slow. My sister often uses the computer for myspace etc, and I'm sure that shes been to a few dodgy sites that have caused the computer to slow down.

I was considerring buying more RAM (its on 1gb DDR at the moment), however it is not running any intensive processes (Symantec antivirus corporate ed., itunes and printer software are the main things running) andI'd rather see if a simple software fix can be implmented.

Attached is a Hijackthis log. There is no urgent need for a response, as there are likely higher priority requests from other people. Any assistance with this is greatly appreciated.

hello to you all , im new here and im in desperate need of help.

my laptop has been running fine over the last 12 months ( its 18 months old ) .
but just latly its running slower than a snail on a zimmer frame . it takes ages to access any program of any kind i.e msn , internet , files on computer etc..

what can ii do to speed it uop a bit . installed a thing called register fix v6. but that has done nothing im at my wits end please help me.

thanks chunky

A:laptop running extremly slow than usual

Well we do not recommend using registry cleaners or "fixers" as they have a tendency to delete the wrong thing and make your system even worse off than it was. The first thing to look at is how many processes you have running at any given time (press ctrl + shift + esc to get the task manager, then click on the Processes tab). You shouldn't have more than about 40 (though this # can vary depending on what you have running on a daily basis).

You can also sort the processes by the amount of memory they are using and the amount of CPU time they are utilizing. This can help you identify trouble programs that are not operating properly.

There are some other basic things you can do. Disk Cleanup, Defragment, and spyware/adware scans. If you have any questions on these feel free to ask and I/we will elaborate.

Ok so, first of all im alex, this is my first post on this forum you guys have got

i have just yesturday bought an Acer 5536-644G32MN Laptop which is running vista.

i have a dialup internet connection (ha ha, please dont tell me to just get broadband)
which on my desktop computer running windows XP works fine,

Yesturday when i tried dialing up to my connection useing the inbuilt modem in my laptop, it connected but i noticed it was quite slow,
as in would take a few minutes to load google,
i went out for the day because i had other things to do,
when i came home later i tried the internet again, and it was working fine, just as well as it works on this desktop computer im on now.

now tonight when i tried connecting to the internet again it was realy really slow again, it would say its connected fine and running at 52kb but it wasnt loading pages
and 4 out of 5 times it would fail to sign into msn, and when it did sign in it woudl take a few minutes to show people online and then a minute later it would lose the connection to msn and sign out.
very frustrating
the inbuilt modem is a 56k ITU v.92 wake on ring ready (in the book it says that)

can anyone shed some light on the situation

i ahve tried disabling the mcaffee firewall on my laptop but that made no difference,

im not sure if this is a vista problem or something else

any tips?

A:Internet Running extremly slow (new computer)

Hi Alex, welcome to Tech Support Forums, First of all..... Get broadband :) Im just kidding, however that would solve your problem :P Have you contacted your ISP at all? They may need you to add some modem strings so your modem and isp can 'play nicely' that happens alot with software based modems, which are in most laptops.

What really bothers me is that in the last few MB Windows states it will take 5 seconds to finish but it takes more like 5 minutes....

Thanks for your help.

Try searching for device manager on your version of windows 7, open that go to disk drives find the USB right Click then to properties enable better performance write caching. May help, but FAIR WARNING - when taking out or ejecting the USB while write caching is enabled, you should Safely remove hardware. Must do every time in order to prevent data loss. I have a brand new Gateway GT5404 computer with Vista connected to a linksys wired 4 port router connected to a vonage router connected to a DSL modem. Also attached to the Linksys router are 2 other computers and a printer.

When first installed, the Gateway was fine. Now it takes a couple of minutes to load a web page. The other 2 computers are fine. I tried using system restore to go back before the problem with no luck. I turned off all of the firewalls and nothing. The only thing that worked was to boot in Safe Mode.

Around the time the system slowed down, was when I installed Vonage, and also when there was a power failure and the computer went down without shutting down properly. However, I think that it is only a coincidence, and that neither one has caused the problem.

What is going on?

A:Extremly slow

RAM: 2815 MbClick to expand...

3GB of RAM would be 3072MB, video is using 256MB (1MB unaccounted for)
You need to increase the RAM to 4GB. Even though a 32 bit version of Windows can only use about 3.5MB, you will notice the increse.
I've made sure all our Windows 7 computers are running 4GB. I've talked a friend into buying more RAM so two of his slow computers would be peppier. He has noticed the difference.

As far as Java, MS discontinued java with Windows 2000. You should not have MS JVM on a windows 7 computer.

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Please move hijackthis.exe into a permanent folder.

To create a permanent folder click My Computer, then C:\
In the menu bar click on File, New, Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis". Now you have C:\HJT\ folder.
Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here.
Install ewido.
During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
Launch ewido
It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen
On the left side of the main screen click update
Click on Start and let it update.
DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe mode.
Click here for info on how to boot to safe mode if you don't already know how.
Now copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to in safe mode.
Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:
Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to remove files, click OK
When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
Save the report to your desktop
Reboot to normal mode.

Post a new HijackThis log and the log from Ewido.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version A13) dates from 2009.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.Please don't use CCleaner while we're troubleshooting.  It'll delete some of the reports/files that we use. There is a driver named uroogb.sys (in C:\Windows\System32\drivers) that isn't found elsewhere in the system.Could you please have a look at it's properties and see if there's any information on it that we don't have?I also searched Google for it and there's no record of a driver by that name there. This is suspicious and you should perform an antimalware scan with another antivirus to ensure that you're not infected. If infected, I'd suggest posting over in the Am I Infected forum:  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/103/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do/Please read the pinned topics at the top of the forum for instructions on how to post there.  Please update these older drivers. Hello, I am having some rather serious issues with my computer and my friend advised me to post a thread here.

Last night I was playing some Il-2 multiplay with my friends, and then I suddenly got a "C+++ Windows Visual library error" then an immediate black screen and a freeze. So I hard rebooted my system and was greated by a pixelated windows splash screen with several lines of dots running up and down the screen at random intervals. After trying to reboot several times to no avail, I entered BIOS and restored my computer to factory settings and then it booted back into regular XP. Keep in mind that this entire time there where lines and dots randomly placed on the screen. Thinking I had fixed the problem I went and played some Bf1942 where I got another graphics error and then a physical memory dump. After a quick restart I again tryed Il-2, only to have graphics artifacts and glitches, I exited the game and then my computer gave me a nice black screen. At this point I left it until today and went to bed. Earlier this afternoon I booted up to the same pixelated windows screen, and then a black screen where I couldnt load Xp. I took the video in and out and it seemed to fix the problem...for the moment. Being the absolute genious I am, I figured to test Il-2 again, only to have the same C+++ error and then a black screen/crash. However this time neither restoring settings or pulling the card in and out would work. I managed to get it to load into s... Read more

My guess is that the Video Card is fried, and it may have corrupted some other data on the way out. Best thing to do is borrow a Video Card and see if that solves your Video problems, but don't be suprised if certain apps (and maybe even Windows itself) fail to fuction properly.

Another angle is to install your Video Card in another computer and see if it works or not. Between these two, you should have a pretty good idea of what you are dealing with.

Dell Latitude w/ Windows XP, 25% free space. Most time it is extremly slow (like today), while other times it moves along at a respectable speed. The only thing that seems to help is running Lavasoft (just ran and did a complete restart) but not always. It took me about 1.5 hrs to login to techguy, print the Welcome Guide (oh that was painful), get registered, etc. then do a quick search in the forums b-4 posting this question.

I believe there are a lot of programs/applications running in the background that could be removed but I do not know what is required to stay running. Am I barking up the wrong tree or will this speed up things?

The laptop sets beside a Jurasik (sp?) Park model (Windows 98) desktop that won't die and just keeps plugging away at top speed. I need the same from my laptop.

Any suggestions appreciated (and please be specific on actions to perform as I am an end user, not a tech head). Thanks...

A:extremly stupid question...

Hello Midas, the icon changes to inform you that a cd/dvd has been inserted. I don't think it can be disabled. Why would you want to change it? you don't have to look at while your music or movie is playing.

I have a compaq laptop with windows[I'm assuming]. I have downloaded a file using torrents and I recently downloaded photofiltre.

For some reason my laptop is running very slow. I've run AVG and McAfee and it has said there are no viruses only tracking cookies.

Is there anyway to make my laptop faster? I'm not sure what's slowing it down but we really have no huge files on it.

Whenever I try and watch youtube videos or any videos it laggs and stops.

Hi, recently my computers motherboard fried (after 2 years of having it) So i thought, bout time i updated so i ordered the following parts:

EVGA e-GeForce 8600 GTS 512MB PCI-E, DVI Video Graphics Card

OCZ 1GB Gold Edition Memory DDR3 1066MHz PC3-8500 CL 7-7-7-21 Dual Channel Gold Layered Z3 XTC Heatspreader

Asus Motherboard P5K3 Deluxe WiFi Intel P35 LGA775 Core2 Quad / Core2 Extreme / Core2 Duo PCI-E DDR3 Pure Copper Heat Pipe & Stack ATX (DDR3 Only)

And installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and i am experiancing very very poor performance, it strugles sometimes to even have IE open let alone a game which i am deeply into. On my old pc was a OEM version of XP SP2 home and it could run fine lots of processes, games and music all at once but vista jsut doesnt seem right.

Ive turned off all the aero glass and such and set the system to performance over looking pritty because i dont care really what it looks like as along as i can use my programes.

Now i know 1gig of Ram aint that much but ive used vista pc's with the same amount of ram with lower amount of cpu/motherboard/gfx capabilitys run alot smother with aeroglass on.

I know from the screenshots that it doesnt look to bad but thats under vertualy no load, mostly backgrnd programes. Alot of the time the HDD are at 100/sec Utilization (which from what i gather is ... Read more

My wife has a pc just about the same spec's as yours but for her videocard is a 7600 and she's running DDR2 800mhz (2gig) and vista32bit
It runs very smooth.

the only thing I can think of is have you updated all the drivers for the motherboard?
is there any other hardware installed?

can you run the Performance Information tool to see what your base score is

you can get to it by right clicking on "My Computer" then click on Windows Experience Index (there should be a number beside it) then click on Update my score

When charging, the fan gets so loud, that the laptop canīt be used in the library or the office, even if iīm offline and only using MS-Office. Does anyone have the same problem with the L380? This canīt be normal so iīm thinking about sending it in.

Hi, I brought a new laptop a few months ago and recieved it pre-set up despite asking them not to. When I got it home I discovered that the laptop was incredible noisy, it sounds like the fan is going constantly despite me not having anything open, then turns into a constant clicking noise. I returned it the next day as it wouldnt stop, and again asked for the replacement not to be pre-set up, only for them to give me another one that was. Unfortunately this makes exactly the same noise after a few months of using it, and I was wondering 1) what is it and can I stop it? 2) What are my rights about returning it as it is not damaged, just loud? I ask this because the noise makes it incredibly dificult to study for uni. Thanks for your help
