Is my Wifi Card Wireless N Compatible

Q: Is my Wifi Card Wireless N Compatible

Hi, I'm having a lot of issues with my Laptop wifi speeds. I'm wondering if my Wifi Card Wireless N Compatible.
I have a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Network Adapter and I've been searching online but can't find definative info.

I checked online where I could check this and everywhere I founds seems to say check the advanced section of my Wireless Driver, but I can't tell if it is or not. It doesn't look like it is.

Can anybody give me a little insight.
Is it worth upgrading my wireless card, will any card do or do I need to find one that is compatible, if so how can I find a compatible one.

I have ASUS Vivobook S400CA, running wondows 8.1

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

can the flex 2 14 inch wifi card be user upgraded to 802.11AC compatible wifi card, and if so could you tell me the compatible part?  is it dual band? Thanks in advance, that is the thing holding me from making a purchase before the April 1st deadline of current sale.

A:can Flex 2 14 wifi card be upgraded to AC compatible card?

Three years late.  The answer is "Yes!" The Lenovo Flex 2 14/15 can be upgraded with a compatible wireless-AC card. The card detailed below can be installed successfully in the Flex 2-14 and it's pretty much a plug-n-play device under Windows 10. Drivers are installed automagically so that the 2GHz and 5GHz wireless and Bluetooth can be accessed. I have two Lenovo Flex 2 laptops each running this exact wireless card. Make sure the wireless card you install matches the details listed below. Or else you'll get an "incompatible wireless module detected" error message when you try to boot the laptop. Name: Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 3160Model: 3160NGWFCC ID: PD93160NGUTA: H45043-003FRU: 04X6076EC: 770009 A genuine "Lenovo branded" Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 3160 wireless card can be purchased from: http://us.eetgroup.com/i/04X6076-Lenovo-Wireless-Module I've attached a picture of the correct wireless card.

So I bought my laptop, a Pavilion 17-f113dx a little over 3 years ago.  I am swapping the drive for an ssd drive and I thought while I go to all the trouble of disassembling the laptop that I would change out the wifi card with a dual wifi/bluetooth card to improve wireless performance. I understand that there may be a whitelist in the bios of compatabile cards for a laptop this old.  Where would I be able to find that list?  Or is there a solution short of installing a hacked bios?

A:Compatible wifi dual card for 17-f113dx

Hi: There is no whitelist, but there is almost a bigger problem... 1. The notebook requires extensive disassembly to get to the wireless card.  If you can overcome that, then #2 is the killer. 2.  On most of these newer HP notebooks with single band wlan cards, there is only one antenna connected to the card, and there isn't a second one present. A dual band card such as the Intel 7260 N or AC requires 2 antennas to work. It will take even more disassembly including the display panel area to run the 2nd antenna. Do not rely on the picture in the service manual which normally shows two antennas. You will need to physically inspect your notebook's situation before buying a replacement card. If it has two antennas, then you are good to go. I would recommend the Intel 7260 dual band N or AC card for your 3 year old notebook.

My fiancee and I currently have the Dell Inspiron 17R SE laptop with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230, and it has worked for a few months now up until the Monday of last week. While on the internet, my fiancee was noticing her wifi speed slowed down to a crawl. She performed speed tests to find out that the speed was not as high as it used to be. She updated drivers for the computer, as well as removed any clutter that would cause the wifi slowdown.
When we tried many options, they did not give us the results that we were looking for. Finally, after some process of elimination, we concluded that our wifi card needed a replacement. I don't want to get any old card to use and then find out that it doesn't fit or is not compatible with Windows 10. I have been taking my time to research what could be compatible to improve my laptop computer, but I have been coming up short.

What I would like to know is what wifi cards are compatible with our Dell computer so that we can get this replaced as soon as possible without having to pay out the nose for unneeded computer repair?

Hello everyone,

I just bought the Wireless N PCI Adapter (TL-WN851ND) from TP-LINK for my Windows 10 PC. It says that it's compatible for Windows 7/Vista/XP but it doesn't say Windows 10 on there. I thought that since it works on Windows 7, it will probably work on Windows 10 aswell, but since I inserted the card and have it running my computer freezes randomly and gives me a blue screen sometime later. The blue screen also says MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION. Sometimes when I turn the PC on it will freeze and go to the blue screen while loading Windows 10.

Is there any possible way to make this adapter compatible for Windows 10 without it freezing all the time which leads to me having to reboot the computer over and over again?

A:Making a hardware for Windows7 compatible with Windows10 (Wifi card)

When I tried to install the driver that came with the hardware it said that it doesn't work on this operating system (Windows 10).
I installed a different random driver that I found in the internet, but it still freezes every now and then.

Hi Guys,

I'm currently trying to work out a problem regarding my WiFi card on my L670-14M.

The old Wifi card died on us, so I decided to buy a Intel 7620 card to replace it. This installed fine, and is recognized by the device manager, and I can now find the wifi card in the adapter settings menu.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to go any further. The wireless logo in the corner appears, but with a red "X" through it.

I've tried:
Disabling and enabling the cardUsing the FN+F8 key combinationUpdating the BIOSRunning the troubleshooter (It tells me to switch on the WiFi capabilities via a switch on the computer or the FN keys. I have no switch and the FN key combination doesn't work.I've also attempted to clear the TCP/IP stack to no avail.

All I can guess now is that the card is either incompatible with this laptop, or maybe there's something in the registry that could be changed/removed to help? I've tried several different cards too (as this is a work laptop and we've bought the cards in bulk) and it's not due to a faulty card.

Thanks,

YoYoMachete

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me out...

I have just upgraded from XP Pro SP3 to Windows 7 Ultimate.
I cannot get '7' to recognize my wireless network card that was working previously with XP Pro.
I have re-installed the card on the board and also removed/replaced the driver (from disc).
The driver software installs and runs but tells me that the card is 'Unplugged'.

If I remove/reinstall the card, it finds new hardware and goes through all kinds of questions but the software still tells me the card is 'Unplugged'.
Is there something different I should be doing or is the card not compatible?

If I go to the internet connections available, it only shows the PPOE, no wireless is shown.

So I recently got this Linksys wireless-g router WRT54GS2. And my other PC has an external 2Wire 802.11g USB Wireless Lan card. Well the way the software that came with the router works was it has me basically allow each device that connects to it. Well I can get the 2wire card to get an actually really good connection to the routers network, but when I go to allow it on the router it does not show up as a device that's connected to the router.

I do know a little of what I'm doing. I named the network something odd like smurfs and so I know the card is in fact connecting to it. But for some reason I cannot get the router to see the 2wire card. Is it possible these aren't compatible with eachother?

Any help or tips would be great. I didn't think it would give me this much trouble.

A:2Wire Lan Card + Linksys Wireless Router compatible?

They certainly should be compatible.

Have you removed all the stored wireless network profiles and searched for the network? Have you tried removing all encryption from the router to see if it connects that way?
Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, post a screen shot of the main screen here.

The college my son will be attending says the students' laptops must have an "802.11b" or "802.11g+b" compatible wireless card to access the college's wireless network.

My son has a Dell Inspiron 1525, which has a wireless 1395 WLAN Mini Card. Documentation on the computer says it has an IEEE 802.11n (???)

So, will my son's wireless card work, or does he need to get something else? Does a tech-savvy person need to install this, or could I do it?

A:Solved: Is my son's wireless card compatible with college network?

Don't worry the card will work for fine.

802.11n is going to be the next wireless standard and is backwards compatible with the other two main standards.

So an N card can connect to an N, G or B network, the card should already been installed on the computer and ready to use, the IT guys at the college will probably have an open day for new students to get them setup. They usually do.

Hey guys, buying a new PC, but I'm stuck.

I could either have a ASUS® P8Z77-M: MICRO-ATX, USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs, ATI®CrossFireX, which doesn't have onboard wifi, but could then buy a 300mbps wireless card for my PCI slot. (Got a gtx 680 , so not room for PCI-E)

OR I could get a ASUS® P8Z77-V: PCI-E 3.0 READY, WIFI, SLI, CROSSFIREX, which DOES have onboard wifi, but will cost me around £50 more.

My question is.. What would be the better option? Is the built in wifi any good? How powerful is it? My router is only in the next room.

Thanks guys.

i dont think it will make a lot of difference (other member may have a different view and more experience ) - only point would be is it a removable aerial , otherwise you have to hope the signal is good at the back of the PC - with a removalble aerial you could at least try a different aerial to pick up the signal

if you have a wireless enabled laptop - put in the position the desktop will be - rather where the aerial may be - then run xirrus and see what sort of signal you get

Modding BIOS voids warranty so if you bricked your laptop or some hardware malfunction occured after the modded BIOS flash, Lenovo won't repair your laptop. Try uninstalling the Proset drivers and then remove all of the drivers in the device manager by checking "delete driver software..." while unistalling the WiFi card drivers. Youll then be running Microsoft's 14.8.8.75 which gives stable WiFi.

I was sharing the hotel wifi because it only allows one device but suddenly after a few days the wifi sharing programs keep saying I have no wireless card or AP mode not supported even though I can still connect to the internet through WiFi. I already updated Realtek Driver at Device Manager but still not working.

I have no clue what to do as the guides in the net aren't working and I'm running out of options

Hello all
I just bought a leguang N-120 usb wifi wlan card out door antenna for my windows 7 dell laptop. It works great getting 4 bars from 2000 feet away.I need to know where I can find a wireless router for it so I can use it on other computers in house. I tried using mhotspot but cannot get it to work.

From website, it seems pretty straight forward to set up.

Maybe you need to disable the on-board wireless, in case you haven't done that yet.

Hello people.

I have a major issue with my wireless card.
I'll explain quickly.

- I had a trendnet wifi adaptater in PCI which I could get to work anymore after trying to desinstall/resintall. (loosing connection in the middle of online games)
- I bought a D-Link DWA-547 Pci wifi card, believing my old card was dead. (I tried it on a older computer with XP it runs perfectly).
- I installed the new card, no problem.
- now the card is activated in the "network connections" tab (it is even green just like seeing a few wifi networks). but I cannot see any wifi networks, and there are a lot nearby.
- I have tried to unistall/reinstall my new card. no luck.
- I have connected myself to Internet by RJ-45 to put everything up-to-date, no luck.
- I have tried to desactivate/reactivate my card.
- i uninstall "bonjour" as I read somewhere this could be the problem. still no luck.

- furthermore, when activated when i'm using the command line ipconfig/all, the wifi card does not appear in this command line.
- I tried the ipconfig/renew it says "the operation has failed because no card has the autorised status for this operation" (i'm translating it from french, so maybe it's not the exact words).

maybe a clean install would be THE solution, but I really would try not to do that.

please help!!

Welcome to Seven Forums,

I'd verify from your computer's BIOS if LAN and WLAN support are both enabled.

Depending on the Model of your computer, when you retart it you may either select F1 or F2 to go the BIOS setup.

Hi,
Hope you pepl wud b fine.
Few weeks ago I purchased a HP Pavilion dv4 1131TX laptop. I installed Ubuntu on it with vista as dual boot. Now, in Ubuntu, everything works fine except:

1. Minor Problem: I couldn't enable appearence effects. It asks to enable some extra nVidia driver.I try to enable it but it doesnt enables.

2. When Ubuntu is booted completely I can see the wireless netwrok connected in top right corner. Its connected to my college's wifi network. In my college, after connecting to the wireless network, to access the internet,we need to open any website, for the first time every session, a login page appears. There we need to login. It works completely fine in Vista. But in Ubuntu when I try to open any website in FF immediately Address Not Found error comes instead of the login page. FF behaves as if there is no network connection at all.

Please highlight what could be the possible reasons and how to fix it.

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Aki

A:No Wifi on Ubuntu but wireless lan is connected and G.Card problem

1) Run System->Administration->Hardware Drivers. See if the nvidia drivers there are installed properly. If so and it still doesn't work then you need to update your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and specify that your device uses nvidia. You can do it manually or type "sudo nvidia-xconfig". Be sure to back up the xorg.conf file (though nvidia-xconfig should do it automatically) so you can revert back to your old .conf file if anything breaks.

2) It's connected? When you type "ifconfig" in a terminal, do you get an IP? I'm assuming that DHCP isn't working properly or something. Try typing the following:

sudo dhclient <adapter name, probably wlan0? Get this from ifconfig>
sudo ifconfig <adapter> down
sudo ifconfig <adapter> up

You could also just try clicking on the icon or something, since it should be refreshing (down/up) anyways... If it doesn't work, maybe contact your school's IT people? You never see the login page in ubuntu? Or it doesn't work AFTER the login page?

I recently installed a Dell wireless PCI 1520 card into a Dell XPS. I can see my home network but it shows no signal strength. I can connect to my wifi network with my smart phone and my wife's laptop can connect without a problem. The desktop will connect when hardwired. I've done the usual rebooting of the router modem and computer but still the same problem.

Did you have an antenna supplied with the card?

HI. If you do not log out in device manager, you have a hardware problem or the two cable that connects to you is dropped. Regards.

Yes it can.  Windows 10 caused problems for me - but roll the driver back to 17.13.11.5 and the wifi hotspot sharing is possible again.
