I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,
Sorry if someone had answered this question before but I'm new here.
I have an IBM ThinkPad T22 and recently experienced this strange problem: The battery works alright but it doesn't charge even though the LED blinking as if it is being charged and when the system was poweroff and I unplugged the AC adapter then the LED indicating battery was still lit although it was supposed to turn off. To really turn that LED off I had to remove the battery pack. I discharged the battery completely and it's not charged any more
(0% charged) and now I have to use my laptop as if it is a desktop (with power plugged all the time). I would be grateful if you have any suggestion since I believe that the battery is still working pretty well.

Hy!I've used my Thinkpad T420 battery charge mode with custom settings: Start charging when below 95% and Stop charging at 99%. Because the battery effectively has never charged full, it cause sudden capacity decreases (for example from 30% discharging to 7%). I got bored to this and changed to automatically optimize battery lifespan. I noticed that every full charge the "Full charge capacity" value decreases. I have charged it 5 times after this settings, and the remaining capacity looks like this: 57.10Wh, 57.05Wh, 57.00Wh, 56.95Wh, 56.85Wh. Is it normal? Is it possible that this setting will kill my battery?

I contacted Lenovol support and they send me a replacement unit. The the replacement unit has the same problem. Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 docking station does not charge Thinkpad P51 battery.  I need to plug in the power adapter for both docking station and notebook.  Does anybody have similiar problem?

A:Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 docking station does not charge Thinkpad P51 battery.

Everbody's p51 would be the same.  The thunderbolt port won't work as a charging port.  The thunderbolt specs specify 100w max.  That's not enough.  Your thunderbolt port is not for charging.  To charge via the dock, you need a workstation dock, not a thunderbolt dock.  A thinderbolt dock can charge things like an x1 carbon (5th gen) or x1 yoga (2nd gen)

I recently purchased a T460 with an Ultradock 90w and when the notebook is docked it only shows battery 1 (internal) as charging. Battery 2 is not being used but it is not charging either and it is very very slowly discharging (about 3% over the last few days). If I plug the Thinkpad into its normal power supply outside of the dock both batteries charge (one at a time). Is this normal behavior or is there something wrong with my dock?

I bought a second-hand IBM ThinkPad T30 at the start of January. I bought a new battery for it a while ago, and I've had to get two replacement batteries because of problems. The guy who sold me the computer told me that you shouldn't keep charging the battery after it is already charged - what he means is that when the battery is fully charged you should take the power cord out and run it on the battery. Has anyone heard this before?

Should it be okay to keep running the computer on the mains after the battery is fully charged? Would it be all right to remove the battery?

Hi to everyone, let me introduce my problem:  I live in Chile and I wanted to renew my 2010 Lenovo G60, so I bought from Amazon an 11e (not available here in Chile) and the only problem I am having is that the battery drops dramatically while it is being used (I take care of the battery with everything I can via Software and by using the PC with care), even though I have updated everything, the problem keeps going on. The Lenovo battery "doctor" says it is working fine and when I download the battery software updater, it shows that my battery needs no update. Has anyone have had this problem too? Thanks  PD: I forgot to mention that it is the one with Windows 10 and 128GB SSD (20D90020US)

It should just be a matter of removing one of the covers on the bottom of the laptop. I think the cmos battery on those is next to the memory..could be wrong though, It should just be a matter of popping or sliding it out, and putting a new one in!

I am looking to replace the internal battery for a Thinkpad X1 laptop.  the Model number is 1294AY2.    This is an older model with the internal battery.   The current battery appears to be a 4 cell, and I can find replacements online.  I thought I read an early review that mention an extended life 6 cell for the internal battery.  Is this an availbale part number? The installation process for the internal battery seems a little more involved.  Is there a recommendation on how to best do this without any permanent damage.  Is there an official repair manual that is available to the pulic? Since this unit is out of warranty, I assume that it is not a option available by sending the unit to Lenovo for service. I am curently getting about 3.5 hours battery life now, and the system reports 30,740mWh, compared to 38,920 rated capacity.  Can I assume that the battery has degraded by roughly 25% by comparing the 2 number, or is it a more involved calculation? Ideally I get 5-6 hours of life, and I am considering adding a "battery slice" instead of changing the internal battery. BATTERY 1NAME42T4977MANUFACTURERSMPSERIAL NUMBER472CHEMISTRYLiPDESIGN CAPACITY38,920 mWhFULL CHARGE CAPACITY30,740 mWhCYCLE COUNT-

Hi everyone, Just wanted to report a problem I've been having with my Thinkpad Yoga 460 (core i5 6200U, 8 GB RAM - 20EMCTO1WW). After only 3 days of light use and a BIOS update to v1.40, I found that the laptop would only start when connected to the charger. In Windows 10, the battery gauge would show "99%, not charging" permanently. Importantly, the system does not seem to recognize that the charger is connected and thinks it is on battery. If I pull the charger, the laptop dies instantly. Also when I plug it back in, the charge indicator light flashes orange a couple of times for ca. half a second and then stays off, even when the laptop is on. First I suspected a software fault, and tried a lot of different permutations of uninstalling, re-installing and disabling the battery driver in the system manager, as well as the different Lenovo-branded system programs. The Lenovo Solutions app does always seem to display the same information about the battery, importantly with the charge cycle counter unchanged. None of it seemed to help. Growing desperate, I tried a different power supply (no difference). I also unscrewed the back plate and unhooked the battery cable. While then the system did not recognize the battery anymore, everything was back to the old, unrecognized state after it was hooked back in. I tried resetting the battery as recommended in this thread, but to no avail. I tried to downgrade to the BIOS version 1.18 (the one the laptop had bee... Read more

I bought a Thinlpad R51 - 1836 BBU used and with no battery. I bought a new battery, installed it and the battery drained completely. I sent it back and got a new one and also bought a new power chord. The battery and new power chord worked fine for two months. Last week the battery drained completely again (while plugged into AC chord).

Again I bought a new battery (extended life this time) and bought a docking station. I am now faced with the new battery drains everytime I use it. The power chord does not charge it. The docking station does not charge it either. I would like some questons answered:

Is it normal for the pc to have to be ON for the battery to be charged?

Does anyone know if there is any indication that the power chord is plugged in while the battery is installed? When on AC only, it shows plug - When battery installed (on battery only or with AC chord) computer shows on battery power.

Do the external battery charger units really work? this may be my only way of recharging my battery if not through the pc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've ordered a P70, it will be up to 3 weeks until it arrives.  In the maentime I'm working on designing a portable power pack for for using the P70 at remote sites (up to 6-8 hours cont. use) using a sealed lead acid battery and an inverter.  I may also run 2-3 laptops from this battery as well but they will be lower spec laptops.  I'm trying to figure out the power requirements for the laptop (P70), to judge what size battery I will need I am initally thinking an 80Ah battery, which is pretty heavy, I may be able to geet away with a smaller battery. I see that the battery that comes with the P70 is a 96Wh battery but the specs don't say what the battery voltage is.  Can someone with a P70 battery let me know?  Also what is the output voltage of the AC adapter? Thanks

Assuming both are genuine Lenovo. All dimensions except height (which noone bothered to measure) - are the same; even if the 370 battery is slightly higher and won't fit without lower case modification - it's nothing a rotary tool can't fix. 370 battery: 15.28V 51Wh (FRU 01AV433)260 battery: 15.2V 44Wh (FRU 00HW027) Is there any particular reason why it definitely won't work? I'm really on the verge of ordering one and trying for myself, but I'm not sure how does embedded controller (EC) determine if the battery plugged is correct,  and not really want to waste time if the idea is doomed to failure because some technical quirk I am not aware of - hence the question.  Why: while 370 is newer, it has glossy PWM display which ain't bonded with digitizer vs bonded matte PWM-free on 260. 260's weakest spot, on the other hand, is poor battery life - larger 370 battery could definitely resolve this problem. I'm bored until newer Thinkpads are introduced at CES 2018 anyway - so why not give it a try, if there is any chance it may work.

The other day I turned on my computer (after it had been off for about a week) and it would not boot up--I received a "critical low battery" error. The thing is, caccu.nl ,there was no battery in the machine. I popped in a long-expired battery to see what would happen and the computer would not even turn on.I have ruled out the A/C adapter--I have another laptop of the same model which boots up just fine with either adapter, but this one will not boot with either.I finally got the machine to boot up by popping in the battery at a strategic moment just before the error appears. It works fine as long as I leave it running, but Windows thinks that it is running from the battery ("Current Power Source: Batteries - Total Battery Power Remaining: Unknown") and the computer dies instantly if I remove the battery.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the battery in Device Manager to no avail. Is there anything else I can do, or do I need to make the backup laptop my primary?

A:Thinkpad A30 thinks it's running on battery

Welcome to the forum!

Sounds to me like your A30 has developed a motherboard problem.

Try the old trick:

Remove the battery, unplug the power adapter, hard and media drives.

Press the "power" button ten times in a row holding it down for ten seconds each time and thirty seconds the last time around.

Plug the adapter - but nothing else - back in and try to power on.

Let us know how it goes.

Good luck.

I recently got ahold of a used Thinkpad T22, [Pentium III, 900 mHz, 256 MB] which has WIN98SE [my preferred operating system] on it. It has a lot of very nifty features, including a real time battery monitor which resides in Window's system tray. It consists of a battery icon and a horizontal bar graph which tracks the percentage of battery power left.
I would like to use this same thing on my older laptop, an IBM Thinkpad 390e [also an excellent highly stable machine] which is my mobile unit. I use the T22 as a replacement for a desktop. I looked at a lot of shareware/freeware utilities that "said" they would do the same thing, but so far I've been unable to find anything that even comes close.
What I am hoping is that one of the Gurus here is familiar with the T22 and can either tell me where I can get THIS PARTICULAR battery meter, or at least something like it that will work with WIN98SE on my 390e.
Thank you for your kind attention. I am so grateful that I have this resource available to me, over the years, I've asked a lot of "weird" questions, and I've never yet be disappointed. One of you always has the answer -- or can tell me why my hair brained scheme won't work! Thanks again.

Anyone now what to do?

What sort of battery life are you guys getting with this laptop? (The one with usb 3.0 ports and 6000 series intel).  Of the countless issues I've had with this (mostly driver related), battery issue is one of the biggest. I can't seem to get more than 5 hours normal usage. I've got the screen at 50%, keyboard backlight at its lowest setting, and some music in the background. CPU usage averages below 20%. I've got several tests I tried:1. I have chrome minimized with ~8 tabs (nothing playing or anything), and excel minimized. The only large process was Google Drive downloading. I wasn't doing anything on the computer. That gives me 3 hours, 49 minutes of battery life (94% remaining).  2. Browsing a forum while listening to music in youtube. (Chrome eating so much ram Windows is at 6gb used just with 10 tabs open.). 3 hours, 32 minutes battery life (90% remaining) 3. A stress test, Aida64 running a CPU stress test. 2 hours 27 minutes battery life (87 remaining).  Here's what's even more interesting. Battery wear level. Based on Window's battery report, I lost over 9% battery life wear since when I got the laptop (January this year I think). So 6 months. Here's the catch, it's more like 5 months because those first 5 months is when I used the laptop for college. After the semester ended, I pretty much stopped using it. This means that if I used the laptop frequently like in college(which wasn't even that often), I would wear the battery 20% ev... Read more

A:Thinkpad x1 Yoga 1st gen(?) battery life

Hi, the below is a copy-and-paste of a reply I posted in another thread.  That thread was discussing Gen 2 battery run-time (not "life") and I had done a little testing on my Gen 1 for reference:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/questions-about-TP-Yoga-series/m-p/3704325

Not sure how directly this applies to the Gen 2 , but I'm doing some testing with the Gen 1 X1Y this evening.

Letting things run long enough for the battery gauge to stabilize:

Thunderbird: reading email: 9-10 hours, maybe a little more.

FireFox: poking around the forums:  6-9 hours depending on content and how fast I'm navigating pages.

Skype video session:  maybe 4 hours.

This is an i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD with the 2560x1440 non-OLED display @ ~ half brightness - which is plenty bright for evening surfing.

In my use case(es) it's an 8-10 hour machine for the most part.  I don't use Chrome so I can't speak to that.

FWIW,
Z.

I have a z60t Lebovo  The battery has never recharged.  I can't use it without electricity. Never had any support until now so I just gave up.  Lots of frustration.  This is only a small issue.  Up to now I have just really regretted having bought this unsupported machine.  Hope life with Lonovo improves    Model number:  11S2P1126Z1ZB5P62GORXThe battery maker is IBM    I came with the computer.  I checked it is not one of the recalled batteries. I must be doing the settings wrong.  I would like to only charge the battery when I travel which is rare.  Otherwise, I don't want to use it.  I just took the battery off and docked the computer realizing that I don't need to attach the battery for daily use.  I have it set now for "maximum battery Life" under Power Schemes.  How could I set it if I want to charge the battery? Thanks,Ellen

A:z60t Thinkpad battery never recharged

Firstly where did you buy this machine??? Also when did you buy the machine???? So when did the battery stop charging??? Leaving your battery unused for prolonged period is bad for it, especially when battery level is either 100% or 0%, long term storage of battery should be undertaken with battery charge level of 30 to 40 %.

I have a Thinkpad T60 Type 2007. Unfortunately my battery no longer works. When I try and update the BIOS using the 'BIOS update utility' version 2.23 an error message appears telling me that I cannot proceed with the BIOS update as my battery is not fully charged (which I am obviously aware of). Is there a way of initiating the BIOS update without a fully charged battery? Any help will be greatly appreciated. APL
