My laptop keeps Freezing stuck..

Q: My laptop keeps Freezing stuck..

My laptop is a Asus Rog 970m the cores are stable and nothing is getting overheated, yet my computer keeps freezing stuck for some reason ? what could the problem be ?

Preferred Solution: My laptop keeps Freezing stuck..

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I reinstalled Windows 7 64-bit a couple days ago, and I inserted a disc into the drive recently, but now the drive won't open through anything and freezes anything and everything that touches it(Device Manager, Windows Explorer, Avira, Safe Mode even is affected)

Is there some way to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

This is my first post and I am so thankful I found this forum!
My laptop, in the past 2-3 days, has been freezing up. I have not downloaded anything in that timeframe.
At first it was when there was no activity for a while and the screen would just go black and I would have to manually restart the pc. Now, the freezing is more regular.and it freezes without going black but still I have to manually restart. I have F-Secure virus, updated, and during a full scan it freezes. I downloaded Malwarebytes and it also freezes in full scan.
I believe they are both freezing in the same spot: c:windows/winsxs/x86_security-malware-windows-defender...
I tried to target scan just that area and it freezes.

I did a quick scan with Malwarebytes and this is what it found:

Since last Monday, my laptop's been through its fourth at Knowhow's facilities. I was anxious to play games like Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Gmod again, but after a minute or two of gameplay, they would both freeze. From there the screen would turn black, turn back on at full brightness, and allow me to play for a few seconds before looping the process again. The only way I could stop this was by 'Alt-F4'-ing my way out of the game, which would allow me to change my brightness.

At first, I tried updating the drivers as that could have helped, though, instead, made no difference. From there, I proceeded to do an 'express' uninstall of the drivers and anything else associated, restarted, installed the driver only, and restarted again. No success. I even tried Red Faction: Guerilla, only to be met with the same results. Weirdly, though, 2D games like Hexcells, Prison Architect and Speedrunners run flawlessly!

I'm using the 14.12 Omega drivers, according to the Raptr app.

I just got my computer last week, and for some reason, screen goes black and nothing happens after i log off or switch user...then I have to restart computer to start it back up. Screen switch light still blue, so it doesnt sleep, and computer blue light stays on ( no blinking sleep indicator) so it just doesnt do anything after I log/switch. I already updated bios and graphics card which is nvidia 9500gs.
Any ideas?

A:Screen Going black- freezing or stuck when logging off/switching users

Slow shutdown/User log off can be a result of little ram, or frag. This was also a commom issue even with 4GB of ram prior to SP1.

Try defragging.

Are you using reg cleaners, or using any media extenders? (i.e., Xbox)

If it is a desktop you may want to see If it is using "Away mode", or "prevent idling to sleep" mode (this is common for extenders).

The problem still exists even after Dell repaired the laptop. It took two weeks to get the repaired laptop back from Dell.

The problem is:
When I plug or unplug the charger while playing music/video on laptop, the laptop is freezing with buzzing sound for 1-2 seconds when the laptop begins charging. Even after Dell repaired the laptop, the problem still exists.
Tried installing the updated drivers, the laptop works fine only for a short period and then after some time the same freezing with buzzing sound problem comes back.
Also, if the laptop is restarted it works fine for a while and then the same freezing with buzzing sound problem comes back.

Not satisfied with the Dell and Dell repair services.
Need help with this problem.

I posted this in wrong forum, in "security". So, I am re-posting it here.
Hello, I would appreciate help fixing my PC. System: Toshiba C75D-B7300, Windows 8.1. For a few weeks the pc was running slow. It would freeze frequently. Initially the mouse would be stuck for a while and then resume. It was like every keystroke took several
minutes to execute. Then it started freezing to the point where i had to restart to get out of it. Then it became so frequent that it became impossible to use the PC. The problem existed both in normal mode and in safe mode.

I have not installed any new programs before this began. I tried restoring to previous date, but it said "failed".
So, I looked up solutions on line and tried them. scannow, chkdsk, etc. (scheduled at restart) The results showed "errors were found, some errors could not be fixed". Every method I found on line I tried. After one of the methods, and I believe
it was some version of scannow.exe  with several alphanumeric /. After running that, the PC is stuck in a "automatic repair loop". The PC has been on for two days and I can see the windows go through  "preparing to do automatic repair",
"repairing disk errors: this may take over an hour" etc over and over for two days. Finally I turned the PC off from the power button. Then restarted the PC. Now I am unable to go to the start options to get into safe mode (it did before this loop)
and it goes ... Read more

Try bringing up the Advanced Startup Options by tapping F8 as soon as the laptop is turned on.

Then highlight "Last known good configuration" and press <Enter>

Hopefully that will get you into Windows but it won't solve the update problem.
It could be caused by malware so please post on the malware forum as we aren't allowed to help with malware on the non-malware forums.

My laptop is Dell Inspiron 14 N4050.
The problem is why it stucks in BIOS and cannot go to windows after I tried installing Windows 10 last time. That time the screen showed "there is not complete drivers inside". After that when I shut down forcefully and turn it on back the screen appeared in blue color and saying please call technician.
These happened after I send my laptop to a Computer shop for reformat. Then backed home I downloaded the new Windows 10 OS and after completed the laptop cannot be used. I think maybe the shop that I send my laptop do not put all the drivers. and the result my laptop cannot be upgraded and now cannot use anymore. many files located inside and I cannot take them back. so sad. please help me.

First thing to do is run an extended hard drive diagnostic - the root of all the problems could be a bad drive.
F12 at powerup.
This system doesn't have official support for anything newer than Windows 8 -- though some have reported 10 will install and run (the audio is the part where the drivers usually fail).

I was originally seeking help in the Vista forum but managed to find out the machine's OS is actually Windows 7, here's the original message with some updates:
Machine isn't mine, we borrowed it from our uncle for my sister to use.
After a couple weeks it stopped working out of the blue, she tells me she was using it one night and it had little battery left and it ended up running out and the machine shut down and she went to sleep, next morning it wouldn't boot.
I imagine the problem is the battery, I used Hiren's BootCD to test it a bit and everything seems fine, I ran a bunch of tests with Mini Windows XP and only thing that seems out of place is the fact that it won't detect a battery when using one of the apps it has that deals with the battery, the laptop does work without being plug in though so I don't know if that's really it.
I tried recovery mode on startup but that doesn't work either, it just goes back to bootlooping.
It's a Compaq.

On the Vista forum someone told me to try Startup Repair with a Vista disc since Vista is the original OS of the machine, obviously it didn't work since it has Windows 7 installed now.
Should I try the same with a Windows 7 disc for starters?

Any help would be appreciated.

A:Laptop stuck on bootloop

I would try the startup repair. Startup Repair does the bios see your hdd, by bootloop do you mean that it shows starting windows then reboots.

Hello I'm using a HP Pavilion dm4. My laptop's battery seems to be stuck, I usually remove it when I use the laptop at home where it'll be plugged into the socket. I inserted the battery back in one day and I can't seem to remove it now. The latch is all the way to the left when the laptop is upside down where the opening of the laptop is facing me. Is it supposed to be on the left or right? The latch seems stuck and I can't move it to the right.  helpp meeeecheers.

A:Laptop's Battery seems to be stuck

Hi Tycobb,    I found your post because I just had the exact same problem, with the same computer.  The latch for the battery should be all the way to the right when the battery is plugged in.  You'll know if it's in the right place because you'll see an image of a battery under the latch.  I honestly can't give you a technical answer on this, however, I was just messing around, and I got a hold of a membership card for a store....the same type of card you'd "key" a door with.  Anyway, try and pry out the top part of the battery outward.  Be very gentle and careful.  I was worried I would break it, but once I got a good grip, the battery just popped out and the spring-loaded latch went to its' correct place.  I only did this because I have a warranty, and I was willing to take a chance.  Maybe someone else will have a better idea, but this one worked for me. Good luck! Max

Hi to all. I have a Toshiba L305D. Recently i updated vista home and after the update my system would only loop. So i decided to do a clean install of vista which worked out pretty well until i updated again. It was stuck at framework update for more than two hours so smart me choose shutdown and it still didn't shutdown so i manually did it. When i hit the on switch it stuck at the Toshiba welcome screen even if i hit f12 or f2 it still wouldn't budge. So i took out the hard drive and booted it and saw something about Ethernet controller media failed. I formatted the hard drive using my desktop plugged it in and still the same so i decided to install XP on it using my desktop now it says error loading OS. That only happens if i don't hit f12 or f2, if i hit f2 or f12 it sticks at Toshiba screen any advice.

A:Used Laptop HP HDD upgraded to Win 10 Pro with key now stuck...

Sorry ... I missed the part about you having a Win10 license.  I thought you were trying to activate 10 using the HP OEM license and that was causing problems. I don't use the HP encryption apps -- as personally, having recently finished a career in InfoSec, I find the whole emphasis on encryption of PCs to be laughable -- but my guess is that you're basically out of luck. If it were my drive, I would WIPE the drive of all its contents and then install Win10 afresh.  A good product for doing that is DBan:  http://tiptopsecurity.com/how-to-securely-wipe-your-hard-drive-with-dban-erase-your-data-for-good/ Once your drive is clean, then just install Win10 on it. That said, with any luck, one of the HP EXPERTS will probably come along and tell you how to bypass their encryption. Good Luck

When a laptop is starts, you usually would usually see something like the following:
1) "Windows is loading files..."
2) "Starting Windows"
3) "Screen where you log into your computer"
4) "Computer Desktop"

However, what I saw when I started the computer was the following:
1) "Windows is loading files..."
2) "Starting Windows"
3) "Light grey screen where I can see and move only the mouse cursor"
and an intermittent low volume cricket noise (for lack of better words)
4) no change from 3)

Someone gave me a free refurbished version of ASUS U50F-RBBAG05 because it gave the above problem.
So, despite being a noob (but not a noob noob) at fixing computers, I tried to make a clean install of Windows 7.
However, the laptop decided that it didn't want to install the software--(clicked on install button and waited 3 hours).
The laptop just stayed at 0% progress.

So, I was like, "Okay, so let's TRY to restore this thing back to factory settings via Recovery Partition."
Although I waited on the Light grey screen for about 30-60 minutes, I finally got to the screen that I needed.
Alas, although the laptop did "start" the recovery process, it ended up the same--0% progress and did not budge

I know that the Windows 7 installation disc was not the problem--I had 3 other installation discs (all legit).
Since the laptop decided to not move from 0%, I figured that getting the ASUS res... Read more

A "cricket noise" and Windows failing to load during startup is a good indication the hard drive may be dying.

Manually shut down (hold the power button) the computer (you might have been pushing the Sleep button. If you can't figure it out, just unplug it and let the battery run down.)

Or go to safe mode and do a system restore to before the problem started.

I have a sony laptop that will get stuck in hibernation. Hitting the power button does nothing. If I hold down the power button it will start fine. Removing the battery and pluging it back in also works. Also the fan stays on when in Hibernation. It almost seems as though the laptop never goes into hibernation all the way. This results in a battery drain.

I've tried the following to resolve the issue
1. Checked power settings, they seem to be normal.
2. Took battery out and held the power button for 30 seconds.
3. Left battery out for several mins.
4. Same thing happens when plugged in with AC adapter without battery

Sony does have a power manager, but it seems to not be default, windows power manager is running. Is there anything else I can check to see why this is happening? Thanks.

I have Windows Vista on my computer. In the boot menu there were three options on which OS I could use. I could either choose Earlier Versions of Windows, Windows Vista or Windows XP Professional setup. In advanced system settings I set Windows Vista as my default OS and then checked the box so that it would wait 0 seconds before booting up. Now it is automatically booting up to Windows XP setup. It starts windows but then stops and I get a message that a .sys file could not be found. It makes me restart my computer and then it automatically enters into the same setup. I can't get out of this loop. I tried putting in a recovery disc and having it boot from my CD drive. Nothing is working. How can I get my computer to boot with Windows Vista instead of the bad setup file? I don't care about losing the information on the drive. I just want to be able to use my computer. Yesterday I tried to turn off my laptop, but it got stuck in the "logging off" process.
I turned off manually and turned it on again, but when it starts it says Resuming windows,
and goes back to the logging off stage...
Please advice.

That problem was addressed at this forum and the poster did get a fix. Worth a try I suppose.

Hi all

I just run NAV 2004 on my laptop and got a some viruses cleaned off and also run Spybot as it was running sluggishly. Standard stuff I do it all the time. It is now stuck in a loop where just as soon as you hear the windows startup jingle it logs of and says saving your settings then the jingle then log off and so on and so forth.

Same happens when booting to last known good configuration and safe mode. On a couple of scandisks it repaired about 20 files which I think were in the prefetch folder.

When I run the XP recovery console it asks for the administrator password then it just leaves me at the command prompt - is it not meant to do something then?

Help me guys!!! :-(

Yeah, sadly there's another problem.
I'm currently on another laptop at the moment.

Anyway, my problem with my laptop is that it is configuring updates but it keeps restarting itself over and over.
The updates stay at 0% and it's on Step 3 out of 3.. and it doesn't change at all. Then the laptop makes a little "tch" type sound when it restarts for some reason.

Is there to.. somehow fix it?

Should I just manually shut it down and turn it back on or should I just let it keep doing it's restarts?
