Preferred Solution: Hijackthis log - running slow, date issues, can't access facebook

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

As the title says Facebook, and only Facebook, runs very slow or sometimes fail to load. I've tried this on both Chrome and Mozilla and the result are the same.
Tried to scan with NOD32 antivirus + Eset Online Scanner. Right now is at 55% and found 1 threat (Win32/AdkDLLWrapper) unwanted application.
Below are the FRST.txt and Addition.txt from FRST x64.

Good Day,

Our store has two computers which run on the same wifi network. All websites except google, gmail, youtube and facebook work fine. When trying to access www.youtube.com a pop appears, "your flashplayer is outdated please update." When connecting a phone or tablet to the wifi network the same thing happens.

I have reset the router and put in the settings again
The one computer runs xp with avg installed
The other computer runs windows 7 with malwarebytes and norton

Any help will be appreciated.

Here is my original post:

Hey guys, just built myself this new shiny computer with an AMD 8120 processor, 8GB ram, plenty of storage and a decent graphics card.

It runs games, Photoshop, multiple browser sessions all at the same time, and I even upgraded to the cable companies fastest internet...

So why the BLEEP can I NOT get on Facebook?

Seriously across ALL browsers (especially Chrome which I've uninstalled and reinstalled) I get extreme slowdown or loss of connection ONLY with Facebook. I've pinged it and gotten very fast responses, but I cannot do ANYTHING on their servers.

When I was FIRST downloading software, a friend of mine used a program that allows you to install lots of recommended programs at once, he downloaded and used a "torrent downloader" program, and that is the ONLY thing I think could be causing some issue. I've used Ad Aware and tried to fix it, gone into incognito mode (which helps sometimes) and used other browsers, but somehow facebook still is slow.

Can anyone help?

EDIT: another strange issue, even though all my settings are correct I have to send email 3/4 times in Windows Live Mail before the server accepts it. I get a LOT of server not responding errors.

I'm using XP, I.E. 8, on a Gateway 310s, with 2 gigs of memory and a 40 gig HD so it's an oldie.

This baby has been running slowly for a while now (been doing the Adaware, Malwarebytes, AVG, Commodo Firewall thing to keep it maintained somewhat), but since Facebook has changed its groups format, it's damned near impossible to get anything done there. It takes about 2 minutes to load, and if I'm lucky enough to make a post, it takes another two minutes to enter text. Forget about scrolling.......the site freezes like it's in concrete. All my other internet sites work normally..the problem seems to be only with FB. Any ideas as to what the ding dang problem is? I'd be very appreciative of any help I recieve.
Thanks millions in advance.

Hi!

I am having problems visiting facebook.com and imperiaonline.org; other websites seem to be running fine. CPU meter gadget shows that whenever I am trying to visit facebook.com, my CPU usage is above 85% and RAM usage is above 95%. Did a Kaspersky scan few days ago, found a clean result; found a $RECYCLE.BIN folder in my drive however, and deleted it. Searched the internet for anti-malware tool and found ComboFix, scanned with it, but couldn't understand what to do next. A feature at imperiaonline.org doesn't work too; the support team said it has to do something with my browser. Re-installed Chrome, tried Mozilla, saw no improvement.

What should I do now?

The details has been filled up in the form above. Attaching the last ComboFix log with this thread.

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a new HP Pavillion laptop that has Windows 8 on it. Ever since I have been using it, I have noticed that all the games I play on Facebook run extremely slow. I mainly use Google Chrome, but have tried to see if other internet browsers have the same problem and they all run slow. I've checked to make sure that java, flash player and even shockwave are all up to date.

Is anyone able to help? Its starting to get really annoying.

Thanks

A:Facebook Games Running Slow

Hello k3lz1990,

Are you having any other problems with your new laptop? If not, I would check with others that play Facebook Games to see if they are having similar problems. You might also want to check your internet download and upload speeds and compare them with your Facebook counterparts as well. You can do an internet speed test here for reference:

Speakeasy Speed Test

Good luck.

Hi,

My computer is running extremely slow, and about every three or four days the date and time changes. When I shut down my computer, multiple programs don't close correctly, and I have to click "End Now."

I followed the instructions in the sticky to a "T," so if somebody can help me, I'm going to post the contents of my HJT log. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there, I've been having some trouble with Facebook for the past week or so. I first noticed that Facebook was loading considerably slower than most other programs; YouTube works, online video games are fine voice and video chat programs (Skype, TeamSpeak, etc) all working perfectly. The mobile browser version of Facebook works fine, as does the Messenger application, however on all PC browsers the site is slow (I've tried Chrome, IE and Firefox). Naturally, my first though was that there was server trouble, but the problems have persisted and have seemingly become much worse over the past five days.

When it was clear the problem wasn't going away I checked to see if Facebook was down, but it wasn't, I did a speed test at the same time and my download speeds were normal. I cleared my cache, cookies, etc, but no luck. Flushed DNS, still no luck. I've disabled AVG AntiVirus to see if that was the thing causing issues, but nope, still the same problem. I suppose it's also worth noting that this problem seems to fluctuate; most of the time Facebook takes upwards of two minutes to load, but for short periods the site functions without issue. This just recently occurred and I was able to navigate Facebook with no issue, each page would take less than two seconds maximum to load. Yesterday it seemed as if the problem had magically disappeared and I was able to surf Facebook for upwards of half an hour before it started to slow down again.

Any ideas what this may be? ... Read more

My Browsers (Firefox and Explorer) are running slow. They access a funny-looking (DOS-like) Facebook page, and will not access yahoo (Error window: "website not found"). I thought it might be from the NGINX virus. I had this a month ago with similar symptoms.

I was asked to run DDS and GMER and post the results here.

The DDS log is below and the "Attach" file from DDS is attached.

The GMER program opened to the start page, then would only allow me to select "C:/", "ADS" , "Services" ,"Registry" and "files" as options. All others were grayed out and non-selectable. I clicked the scan button with the above selected and the window closed and nothing ever happened. So, no log from GMER.

Computer running very slow, it act like something is running in the background all the time but I don't really know what it could be.
at one time I did have a blue screen after I deleted internet temp files there was so many files to delete, I think I over worked my computer, later on I did get the computer to working again
I ran adaware and spybot they found nothing. I deleted all temp files, removed some data thinking the hard drive was too full. uninstalled some programs I don't use anylonger, and after all that the computer still runs very very slow all the time.

Do I have too many processes running could this be the problem and if so witch one do I delete?
Thank You for your help

Good morning. I need some help--- My pc has been so slow when it comes to downloading pages into my browser, IE7. I am using Peoplepc for dialup and have Panda software. Panda finds no viruses. The slowness came before I downloaded IE7--- thought it would be faster, but no! Today it takes literally minutes to simply go to yahoo.com! Or anything! So I thought I'd better do a hujack this, and as you guys, the experts, for some help! I was wondering if a BHO is the problem--- I see one listed under the google toolbar helper and it has No Name. Could that be the problem? I am not a newbie, yet not an expert either, I'm kinda inbetween, so if you see a problem, please help me out. I sure would appreciate it! I just can't sit here waiting 5 minutes or more for these webpages to load--- I'm pulling out my hair and my husband is starting to complain about the PC too. Thanks, you guys! ~Molly

I have a Date/Time field that I need converted to just a Time field.

It comes back with 2/11/12 0:00:00

I need just the 2/11/12

I thought about changing it to a text field but I think there will be an issue with the month because it does not bring back a 0 in from the months with only 1 digit.

This table that I am creating is being sent to a txt file and that is where I see the issue. It looks good in Access, but not the txt file.

Any suggestions?

Hi there

I know how to do add a criteria to a Query. For example in the QBE pane in design view in the criteria row I enter this statement: Between [Start Date] And [End Date]. When I open up the form that is bound to the query, a message box pops up and I enter the required dates and I get the required data that is between the dates that I specify. However, I'm now finding out that this method is now becoming a nuisance.

Is there a way that I can have 2 unbound controls - one for the start date and the other for the end date in a criteria form. This way I input the dates I want for a particular customer and the form with the required data shows up. For example, I have already developed a criteria form for customers. I have an unbound combo box control that has customer names and when I click on a particular customer name, all the data for that customer is displayed in a form. In the row source of the unbound combo box control there is a SELECT .... FROM ... statement. I also have a button next to the unbound combo box control that opens up the form for that particular customer. Now I want to add two more Unbound controls in the criteria form, one for Start Date and another for End Date.

This way I can select a customer from the customer combo Box, select the start start date from the start date combo box and the end date from the second combo box control and get the desired data for that particular customer between the specified dates. I have attempted to do this bu... Read more

I am using the "microsoft access date/ time picker" control to pick dates. These dates like termination date of a contract will end up in the database. The problem I have is that when I do this,

rst!dateIntoForce = Me!ActiveXCtlDOForce

I end up with this in my database:

1/6/2003 5:48:43 PM

How can I extract only the date part from "1/6/2003 5:48:43 PM" so that only

1/6/2003

goes into the database
Thanks

My computer has been running slow for a few days. I haven't installed anything new but I do download files all the time.

When I browse folders on my harddrive, the flashlight often comes up and it takes awhile to view files. Also, there is a problem watching video (audio/video is out of sync) in Windows Media Player and VLC. The other thing I've never seen before is when I open a program (like Hijack This) I sometimes get a message saying something like ""This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy" and there's a button to "switch to" the program.

I've restored my computer to a point a month ago, ran adware/spyware, defragmented my harddrive, checked the Device Manager and there are no conflicts.

My computer:
Dell Dimension 4700
Windows XP Home Edition Ver 2002, SP3
1 GB RAM
230 GB Hadrdrive, 30 GB free
Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz

A:Hijackthis Log......computer Running Slow

Hello there and welcome to Bleeping Computer's security forum. My name is David, I will be helping you with your log today. It is a good idea to print off these instructions. There is a possibility some of the instructions will need to be carried out where internet access is not available.A print out of the instructions would be a good reference to make sure you don't yet lost. Also, it is important that you complete the instructions in the right order, and that you don't miss out any steps. If you have any queries about the process or just general questions, just ask. Please set your system to show all files. Click Start, open My Computer, select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file typesUncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.Click Yes to confirm.I do not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to create "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause false al... Read more

Hopefully someone can help. I have been given my sisters laptop to check over as i'm the most technical minded in the family (but still very basic knowledge). I had AVG Free and Zone alarm installed but I think my sister had removed them. I have reinstalled both, ran the scans, installed and ran adaware se and spybot search and destroy with no major issues. The main problem is that everything is running extremely slow. From starting up to running IE (which is the most the machine really does) it takes much longer than it used to to work.

I have attached a HijackThis log below. I would be grateful for any help.
