The password I have written down to connect my iPad to the printer does not work. Perhaps this is because I believe I set up this password on my previous IPad. How do I change my password for my current IPad?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Our Windows 7 users are prompted when their passwords will expire in 14 Days, however They are not forced to change thier password before it expires. If the users ignore the expiration warning they can only get logged into the network after having the helpdesk
reset thier password.
Is there a way to force Windows 7 users to change thier passwords on the day it expires. Our WinXP users get the 14 day warning and are forced to change thier passwords on day 14.
I have the GPO configured to notifiy users when thier passwords will expire in 14 days
After applying above settings, the user can change the password by default at the expire day. Please create a new domain profile and test the issue on several Windows
7 machines. Can the user be enforced to change password at expire day? If not, please refer to the following steps to collect the information for research.
1. On the DC, open GPMC, right-click Group Policy Results, choose Group Policy Results Wizard, follow the wizard to collect a Group Policy result for problematic
Windows 7 client.
2. On the Windows 7 machine where GPO failed to apply, please perform the following steps to collect log files:
a) Please add the specified registry key to enable group policy log (%windir%\debug\usermode\gpsvc.log), and remove or rename it to disable group policy log after
collecting data. You may need to create the Diagnostics key if it is not there.
Data: 0x30002 (hexadecimal)
b) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpupdate /force”.
c) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpresult /v > gpr_win7.txt”, send me gpr_win7.txt file.
d) On the problematic Win7 machine, run command “eventvwr”, then expand to Applications and service logs -> Microsoft -> windows -> groupPolicy
-> Operational. Right-click on it and ... Read more
As above really. Trying to create a network for file sharing, as have upgraded the 'server' (part of a Workgroup, not a Domain) from WinXP to Win7 and experienced problems ever since. Ironically the problems haven't mainly been with sharing files between Win7 and WinXP systems, but between 2 Win7 systems.
I bought a new Win7 laptop and tried to connect it to the server, but it hasn't had Read/Write privileges over the files in the Win7 server. Entering a username and password to gain access to the servers folders has not been a problem, and as far as I know, opening files such as documents has not been a problem either. However, when trying to save an edited document, access is denied, and if I try to open an executable file (this is necessary for a node installation), it prompts me for a network password.
Every combination possible of username and password from the 2 systems (including '\' or 'SYSTEMNAME\' before the username) has not worked. I tried syncing the times which was apparently a previous problem, but to no avail. I am unable to access Local Security Policy, as the server is running off Home Premium. I have tried creating a new workgroup, removing and changing passwords, enabling guest access to the network through the Windows Resource Kit Command Shell, creating identical users on both computers, but nothing appears to have worked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
I recently added a reg key to DisablePasswordCaching (1) to some meeting room computers at work.
The option works, users are not prompted to save passwords whenever logging in to a web site.
After looking around on the net, the options should also become greyed out in the setting (Internt Options - Content - AutoComplete - Settings - "Use AutoComplete For") However, the check boxes are still active.
Any suggestions to why they are not greyed out since the reg key is enabled?
Trying to reset the password on and old C400, it is asking for primary or administrator password. I have no idea what to put in there, and can't see if the computer will function at all! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
You'll need to call Dell with verification of ownership -- it may not be worth it though, since the call will cost about $60, which is probably about six times more than the entire system is worth.
The other option is to replace the mainboard - which is probably well under $60.
Which free offline password manager would you prefer (without cloud)?
I already use sticky password premium. Sticky password has improved its windows extensions with new graphical identifier for input fields. This has made it very easy to use and autofill works for all sites now.
But i want to know if KeePass is better, being a open-source & free. Does it's autofill works with every site?

We have a remote user using windows 7 pro 32 bit and cisco vpn 5.0.07.0410 on his laptop.
The remote user is prompted to change his password while he is connected to the domain during the vpn session. He follows the prompts to the change the password.
When he performs the following Ctlr+Alt+Del, selects lock, and now tries to unlocks the laptop with the new password he receives the message of
?The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed?
In order to get into the laptop the remote user restarts the laptop and uses the old password with his domain username.
Even though he is vpn into the network the remote user is unable to gain access to any network resources since domain password was changed.
VPN password and domain password are different. The Cisco VPN username/password account is keep on the ASA. The domain username/password is keep on a Microsoft server.
Does anybody know how to get the changed domain password onto the laptop while VPN?
Does anybody help me to configure the Error message when user try to reset the password not meeting the password complexity rewuirements.

some other Active directory which is test platform i am getting proper error like 'The Password not meet the complexity requirements, history , minimum length etc.,'.
is there any specific settings that i need to do to get the valid message.

I have Vista. I am trying to set it so that when I put my laptop to sleep it will ask for a password to log back in when I wake it up. Under "PowerOptions > SystemSettings> Power Protection On Wakeup" I have it set to "Require a password."
However, when I wake up my laptop it does not ask for a password but instead loads right back up to the desktop. When I leave the computer idle for a long period of time and it locks itself/hybernates/whatever it does ask for a password, and I do have a password saved on the computer.
Is there something I am missing here? I'd like for the password prompt to start working.
Try resetting the power options to default settings.
Are all Windows Updates in, including Vista SP1 & SP2?

How remove password BIOS(Admin password & canfigure setup),
Turn off computer. Find the battery on the motherboard. Take it out for a couple minutes. Put it back in and restart computer. This should reset cmos and solve your problem.
This is a curious one.
I have three PCs (two desktop and one laptop) all running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (1607).
Each system has a shared partition, set up exactly the same, which has sharing set for 'everyone', with 'full control'.
Password protected sharing is turned off on each system (in "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings").
Each of the desktop systems can access each other's shared and also the laptop's shared partition.
The problem is when I try to use the laptop to access the shares on either of the desktop systems, I get a pop-up requester asking for a username and password. (see below - the laptop is "T400" and one of the desktops is "A960").
Any idea why this would be happening? I've checked the settings on all systems (sharing and network) and can see not reason for the password prompt appearing.
Previously I was running Win 10 Pro 64-bit (1511) on all three systems and never encountered this error.
I hope I can get some help / guidance from some one with more experience with the M400 if possible?!
I reinstalled the OS and setup the biometric security for me, which has worked flawlessly! However I stupidly also set up the boot up security (BIOS Password). So when the tablet gets turned on I can scan my finger and get in without any issues, however I now want to turn the boot up security off. So I booted it in to the OS and went to disable it....however it asks for my password....which I have forgot as I have been a typical end user and have been only using my bloody finger!
Does anyone know if I can disable the BIOS security while in the OS using the biomentric security rather than entering a password? I have tried just changing the admin password within the win OS but that doesn't work....any ideas?
Any help with be greatly appreciated!

You are speaking about BIOS password which you set up in the BIOS?
As far as I know you cannot remove the BIOS password if you don?t know the old BIOS password.
In such case just the Toshiba ASP could help you? just the Toshiba ASP technician could remove the unknown BIOS password
I have a HP 17-f020us 17.3-Inch Touchscreen Laptop with window 8. I dont what to have to remove the battery to do this. Way to much for me to try to do. I would like to know how to do it through the Bios.

I'm having a problem with a Toshiba Satellite L300D. After I reinstalled the HDD it would beep. To solve this I went into BIOS to look and see if the board had some sort of intrusion setting. When I exited the BIOS and restarted I know get the Enter Current Password (with a blue background on a black screen) with continuos beeps. The thing is it seems to auto enter in 10 characters (*) and then stop. There are no other options.
I have searched unsuccessfully for any info about this and I cant even find where the CMOS is located which I think is soldered onto the board.
Has anybody had any similar experience like this?

I recently suffered a trojan virus attach and ultimately have changed my password on my email server.
I have tried to reset it to the new password in Windows mail multiple times. It keeps reverting to the old password as the saved password, and I continually have to retype in the new password. I tried resetting the password to nothing, and rebooting, and the old password comes back again.
There must be a preference file or an ini file that I can edit. Can I do that without loosing my address book, etc.?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You might try clicking "Apply" before "OK" in the same window that you entered the password. (I'm guessing that since you are using Windows 7, your email program is Windows Live Mail, not Vista's Windows Mail, although the procedure would be the same anyway.)Read other 7 answers
So, I installed Windows 10 last week. Yesterday I explored a bit and discovered Windows Edge, their new email/ outlook client. I attached my personal Gmail address to the service as well as my corporate address. My corporate account required me to create a new password that fit my company's security standards, which I did, but, after feeling like my company address was restricting how I use my personal home computer, I removed that address. Here's where I get fuzzy, I cannot, for the life of me remember, if I changed my password back to one that didn't conform to my company's security standards or if I left it alone. All I know is that once my computer locked later that night, I was unable to get back in. I've tried every permutation of every password, including that corporate password, I've ever used with no success.
I do not have a password reset disk nor do I have a system repair disk with which to reinstall Windows 10.
So, how screwed am I? Will I have to reinstall Windows 7, the last OS I have a disk for, and hope I can reupgrade to Windows 10?
I did not attach my MSN email address (aka my Microsoft Account) to my computer, so resetting my password that way is a no go.

The company I work for has a control room where they have to enter data into excel spreadsheets with lots of links and macros, so we password protected the sheet so that they could only manipulate the cells that they needed. Myself and 2 other employees have access to the spreadsheet. Someone changed the password and the person does not remember what they changed it to. Is there any way to reset the password?
Do you have a backup from before the password was changed?
a few months ago I switched from Win Vista ultimate to win7 professional 32bit.
My computer was connected to a home network with a server and data server, that server also patched me trough to internet.
since my computer support installed win7 on my computer , they brought it back to me, with a blanc password and my login name (lets call that sangetsu). i just had to click my icon on login and i was logged in and also had straight internet connection trough an ''unknown'' network. fine by me, just needed internet and office anyhow.
Recently my computer had an update and i lost all means to connect to the www.
so i decided to make a new username on my server, with admin rights and plugged my comuter back in our local network. on that new user i had internet connection again but no access to the files that my local admin had.
the problem now is this: whenever I try to log back on my local admin ' sangetsu ', which didn't require a password , i get an error that says : wrong password , even when the field is blanc. even when my new user i made in ADUC has all the admin rights possible, it won't let me share my previous folders and desktop, also doesn't allow installation of new software etc etc... I've looked on the net for a solution and my PC support that installed my win7 OS can't help me. what should i do?
I await a quick reply
thanks in advance.

I found that once I upgraded to Windows 8.1 I had to use my Email account to Log In to my PC.
The User has to have a Windows Account (Mine is originally Hotmail - Live - Outlook).
I can not stand having the same Password and account info from my Email account the same as my PC.
I had to reinstall Windows 8 and then I was able to use a Personalized & Custom User Name & PC Password.
*This coincides with certain software I use when I install the same titles on multiple PCs. *(Serif - WebPlusX6 - I use a common User Name and file location).
***I will not tolerate having to be constricted to a Windows Account that makes me use the same password and user name for my Email Account and my PC.
*****Therefor, WINDOWS 8.1 is useless to me at this time.
P.S. I still get rapid boot times and custom features from Windows 8. *I assigned the Power Button where the old *Start button would be & pinned shortcuts to my task bar to navigate to apps I use frequently.
Hello Majestone, and welcome to Eight Forums.
You can sign in to Windows 8 with any "local account" or "Microsoft account" you want.
You do not have to setup a "Microsoft account" when installing or setting up Windows 8.1. A trick to this would be to temporarily disconnect the internet when you get to this point to then be able to setup a "Local account" instead.
If you want a Microsoft account, then you could have two Microsoft accounts, and use one to sign in to Windows 8 with and the other for your emails.
Either way, you could easily switch to a local account afterwards.
Local Account - Switch to in Windows 8
...or switch back to any Microsoft account you wanted instead.

Well, I own a D-Link DIR-615 Router, And I forgot my router log-in, AND Wi-Fi Passwords. I went on a trip somewhere, and my computer was reset when I left with it. (Still have PC connected though.) And I just CANNOT reset the thing. I tried default etc etc. But I need to find a way... =\ I still have one Vista computer working with it, But the password comes out to: ***** or dots. (its hidden) Is there a way to show them?
Also, Is there a way to change your MAC adress?
As I think that you already know, the solution is to reset the router to factory defaults. When you reconfigure it tape the pertinent account/password/encryption key information to the bottom of the router.
Some ISPs track the MAC Address of the device connected to the modem. It is perfectly fine and easily done to clone the registered MAC address to the router's WAN to avoid having to call the ISP. There is no other need that I know of to change a MAC Address.

Here at home we are all using Windows 7 (a mix of Home Premium and Ultimate). I have an HTPC which has all our DVDs on. This PC has a few shares so we can access our movies across the network.
I have set up the shares using the Sharing Wizard thing, and set 'Everyone' to Read/Write. I can verify the permissions for the shares in Advanced Sharing > Permissions, and see that 'Everyone' has full control.
In the Network and Sharing Center, the settings for sharing are as follows:Network discovery = ON
File and printer sharing = ON
Public folder sharing = OFF (no need for it)
Media streaming = ON (for WMP, Xbox)
Use 128-bit encryption = ON
Password protected sharing = OFF
Allow Windows to manage Homegroup connections = ON
I should point out after the last bullet point that we are not using a Homegroup.
So with all that as it is, whenever I try to connect to the HTPC shares from another computer, I still get prompted for a username and password, with the "X Invalid user name and password" message beneath the text boxes. I can, however, connect without a problem from my laptop, which has the same username and password as the admin account on the HTPC.
The strange thing now - if I type "anonymous" into the username box and try to connect, I get in. Everything then works as it should. So either all... Read more
You might want to check that the time/date settings are correct on the HTPC. If they aren't correct on one of your machines it will give you a password prompt as you described.
