Trouble installing iTunes 9 on brand new laptop running Windows 7

Q: Trouble installing iTunes 9 on brand new laptop running Windows 7

My husband bought me a brand new laptop from Best Buy and also recently purchased an iPod touch for me for Mother's day. I had downloaded iTunes 9 on my old laptop (before getting this new one), the old computer was running Windows XP and I did not encounter any problems installing iTunes 9 & using it to get my Touch started.

I wish to install iTunes 9 on the new computer to use for playing, storing, and burning CDs but when the download is complete and I start going through the installation process, at the very end of it all I get an error message saying that the installer detected an error and the installation could not be completed...and then something about try installing later. I would have copied and pasted the message but I am in a bit of a hurry and I don't have time to sit through the whole download again to get the message.

Anyway, I can follow directions but if anyone has any help to offer please put the information in lamens terms...I'm very familiar with computers and other forms of technology but after wasting all day trying to solve this on my own I just want someone who can help to give me the simple steps to solve this problem so I can get iTunes up and running.

Preferred Solution: Trouble installing iTunes 9 on brand new laptop running Windows 7

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Redownload the Installer. It's probably corrupt.

Hi all, I'm new here so sorry if i've made a mistake in my post or if these problems already have a solution. I'm using a brand new ThinkPad T450s. Sometimes when the display times out (if im inactive for a while) the power light will stay on meaning the computer is not sleeping, however I can't get the display to turn back on (it's just a black screen). After a few minutes of this, the computer shuts down by itself. Also, sometimes when i close the lid, the light stays on and the computer doesn't sleep even though it is meant to (i already checked control panel settings), other times it will work normally. Yesterday i went away, the screen went to black but the power stayed on as usual, the computer shut down by itself and when i turned it back on i got multiple different BSODs, all with different error messages. I restored my computer (it gave me the option to restore windows but keep my existing files which I did). The computer gave me one more BSOD today but it restarted and is working now. I suspected something wrong with the display drivers so i updated everything and it's working now. However, youtube videos are crashing and causing me to have to shut down the system, when it restarts it takes a very very long time to get the display going. I ran the DM Logs and they're attached here. Thank you in advance for your help!

Did you clean your system after the restore?
The last logs are from today and no logs about any crash besides sudden shutdowns.

The actual problem I am encountering is that I get a "asms file is needed" message and I have no idea what to do from here. I investigated several threads that my search took me to but the threads have been closed and I didnt find and solutions. I have the original WXP pro install disc and SP2 & SP3. I am not at all PC savvy so I need help with what to do from here. Can someone please help?

A:Trouble installing WinXP pro on brand new drive

Is that an actual XP Pro CD, and is it XP original or XP SP1?

If you've installed a new hard drive, it needs to be formatted before you can install XP Pro in it.

The XP Pro CD does all the work - if that's what you have.

I recently upgraded iTunes for windows XP by installing 10.1.1. I had iTunes 9.

When I installed it and tried to play my music which showed up in iTunes, there was no sound. I got the following message...installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Please run installer again.

So I installed it again and the computer sensed that that version was already on my computer so I hit the repair button. Still can't play my music.

Has anyone encountered this problem? How do you fix it?

A:Trouble Installing iTunes 10

Ok, So there seems to be a LOT of issues with the latest version of Itunes.. On mine (Win 7 Pro x64), it has issues detecting my ipod is connected and when it does connect, it hard-locks Itunes. Personally I have given up on trying, since I've seen the same issue over an over all over forums on the net. I'll wait till there is a patch for it.

Hello everybody,
I've had itunes on my Vista pc for a while and recently when I tried to update the software I would get an error message telling me that I need to download the software manually. I don't know how to do that. I decided to try and remove itunes and reinstall it from the apple website. However, I get an error message that tells me that I don't have the privileges to do that.
A friend suggested I disable the UAC. That didn't help. I tried to shut down firewall which didn't help either.
A representative of my virus anti virus sofware told me she can't help me but that what I need to do is to manually reinstall itunes and change the directory from itunes to itunes1.
I was wondering if any of you guys experienced this problem and if anybody could help me with this process the person suggested.

Thanks so much!!

I have XP with Service Pack 2 as my operating system. Everytime I try to install itunes 10, I get this message......This installation cannot be run by directly launching the MSI package. You must run setup.exe.

I downloaded a windows installer update hoping to remedy the problem, but to no avail. I also deleted all temporary internet files, but that didn't make a difference. I have no idea how to run setup.exe, either. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated as I am out of ideas. Thanks in advance!

I am currently trying to switch back to Windows from Ubuntu. Originally I was having issues with Windows and installed Ubuntu to ensure my hard drive was not failing. Now i am trying to reinstall windows after wiping my computer.
I have uninstalled Ubuntu and partitioned my drive. After creating my Windows 7 bootable USB, I booted up, allowing it to boot from the USB. It went through the Windows installation process and I selected my partition to install Windows. Once it went through the steps the screen became black and the backlight would come on for a second then back off, I let it sit idle for roughly and hour before going through the process again. Each time the end result is a black screen that will brighten then dim. No cursor, no underscore.
I have a Samsung Chronos Series 7 and I am trying to install Windows Home Premium.

A:Trouble Installing Windows 7 On Laptop

Erase partition... leave it blank and try reinstalling windows again... letting the windows setup partition the drive itself (unless you are trying to do some dual booting magic).

I was going to format one of my partitions and install windows on it and save the data on the other partition. But now I having trouble with it saying "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style. It says the same on all of them

Here?s how it looks:

Name Total Size Free Space Type
Disk 0 Partition 1: SYSTEM 200.0 MB 173.0 MB SYSTEM
Disk 0 Partition 2 128.0 MB 128.0 MB MSR (Reserved)
Disk 0 Unallocated Space 400.5 GB 400.5 GB
Disk 0 Partition 3: DATA 505.6 GB 19.8 GB Primary
Disk 0 Partition 4: Recovery 25.0 GB 12.9 GB OEM (Reserved)

The thing is that I really need to save the files on Partition 3: DATA, but unfortanely I clicked format on "Disk 0 Unallocated Space" where I had windows installed. So now I can?t get into windows and transfer those files to an external harddrive or other computer etc.

So is there any way I could install windows on the "Disk 0 Unallocated Space" and still save my data on "Disk 0 Partition 3: DATA"?

This should be a straightforward question I hope.I have a few older pc's running win 10 and have become well acquainted with the problems faced when scores of programs and services run rampant on a system with minimal ram. So I purchased a new hp laptop for my dad this year, just recieved it yesterday. I wasnt able to do a lot of searching before I bought it over thanksgiving weekend, which I alwasy do when buying stuff. So I thought i would err on the side of caution and get a system with 8gb of ram and a core 17 7th gen processor, thinking that should be enough to serve my dad as a good computer. Unfortunately I have been setting it up the past 2 days, and I immediately noticed extreme lag on this brand new device. I initially set it up by denying all the windows 10 privacy stuff, and uninstalled the majority of hp bloatware as well as all the windows updates available. after doing that, the computer became nearly unusable. Simple things like changing the default apps, would appear nopt to work, because it would take the computer 5 minutes to initiate the action iinput.Every action hangs, the sign in page hangs, the internet programs run high ram usage to the effect that screen sharing is impossible due to resource overload. I then wiped and reboot the computer and didnt touch anything, except the privacy settings and I noticed it ran a little better. However I do not feel that I can give this laptop as it is now, I have not installed anything, it i... Read more

I am trying to install Windows Server 2003 OS on my desktop which is running Microsoft Vista Home Premium edition.

I had reformatted my hard disk and tried. It was also failing. I had purchased a new internal hard drive and installed it and still it was failing.

So, I need a help here from any one who had similar issue and be able to resolve it.

Hello all

I am having massive problems trying to install iTunes on my new laptop (Toshiba) which came preinstalled with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I've spent hours online today searching on forums trying to find a fix. I've tried disabling my Norton security software, taken off internet protection in IE, changed a couple of settings in IE's internet tools to lessen security. I have had a range of errors, from 'publisher not verified' to 'there was a problem with the iTunes installer', to just nothing happening.

Sometimes the setup.exe file downloads (if security settings are low) but won't install. Or it just won't download. At the moment I can download it but even though I click 'run' either nothing happens or I get the message about the installer not working. I have tried running it as administrator but nothing happens.

I have downloaded all Windows updates and tried again, and still the problems exist.

I tried downloading in Firefox too but same problems. I am at my wit's end. There seems to be massive problems for so many people with 64 bit, I am seriously considering taking the laptop back and exchanging it for one with 32 bit installed in the hope that may work.

If anyone can help me I'd be most grateful.

Thank you

A:Huge problems installing iTunes on new laptop 64 bit

You can Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 with 32 bit as you are entitled to use either 32- or 64-bit with each WIn7 license. Everything you need is in the blue link.

You could be suffering from the typical load of preinstalled crapware which most tech enthusiasts ditch by clean reinstalling. I would start with uninstalling Norton then at the minimum Clean Up Factory Bloatware.
Establishing a Clean Boot may help get Itunes installed.

Hi all,

A few days ago, I bought a GALAX Gamer 120GB SSD and a Toshiba 2TB 7200RPM HDD from a PC parts store. I installed them in my tower's case and connected them up. Then, I attempted to install Windows 8.1 Core onto the SSD from a bootable USB drive I had made using Microsoft's Installation Media Creation Tool. The installer promptly error'd. I attempted a few more times, to no avail. I contact MS's answer desk, and they couldn't help, so I left it for the night and went to bed. The next day, I decide that I will attempt to install Windows onto the HDD and then clone it over. Of course, it installed perfectly fine on the HDD. Using both Windows' System Image Backup/Restore tool and a myriad of others, I still could not get an installation on the SSD. I ran a surface test on the SSD which turned up fine. I tried again tonight with the same USB drive to install Windows onto the SSD, again, it error'd, I contacted the MS Answer Desk again, they had me change a BIOS settings, and then take my ram cards out and clean them with an eraser. Neither of those worked, and MS support suggested I contact a local tech as it is a hardware issue.

Do you guys have any thoughts on what I should do? Feel free to PM or reply asking for more info.

I just bought a new laptop yesterday, so there's no bugs or anything on it. All I've done is check my gmail, install an the antivirus program Best Buy gave me, and try to install some of my audio recording software (Adobe Audition and Guitar Port).
And that is where my problem starts.
My old computer had windows xp on it, and it ran my software just fine.
Now with this brand new computer, it won't install.
I get just past the part where you agree with all their license stuff,
and then suddenly it tells me, "Setup has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly." And then it just closes the program.
I bought this software in 2007, so I hope it isn't "too old" for Windows 7 or something...

Hi Guys & Gals:

Without the TXTSETUP.OEM, I'm dead in the water! The 64-Bit drivers (INDOTH-00215023-0042.EXE) are for an already installed Windows 7. BTW guys, the the BIOS settings on this laptop is as anemic as it gets, so there is really no way to optimize there... If someone can point me in the right direction for these drivers, or other possible suggestions, I would be more than grateful. Thanks a bunch for any assistance.

a little while ago my hard disk broke so i just bought a new one to replace it.

now im just a little concerned about my windows XP activation key. if i use the same key i used on the old (and now broken) drive, will it still work on my new drive? or do i have to buy another copy or something to get it working?

ive tried a dozen things to get my old drive back in order but nothing worked so i threw it out. i know that i cant use the same key on multiple machines but im just wondering will Windows be able to recognise the fact that im upgrading now?

First of all, can I say that I am somewhat computer illiterate, but I am determined.

I recently purchased a new desktop computer, the specs are:

Intel Core i7 2700K CPU - 3.5GHz
Gigabyte / Asus Z68 Motherboard
16GB DDR3-1600MHz RAM
1TB SATA3 7200RPM Hard Disk
BluRay Combo Drive(LG)
2 x ATI HD6970 2GB PCI-e in Crossfire configuration
Antec Nine Hundred Gaming Case
Thermaltake Tough Power XT 875W PSU

Now it comes time to install windows 7 professional, so I purchase a copy of the OEM version (because I'm stingy).

When I put the DVD in the drive it boots straight away and it comes up with a black screen that says "Windows is loading files........." . The bar on the screen loads and then it says "Starting Windows", after that a blue screen with some leaves and what looks like a very small bird appears in what I am assuming is meant to be the start of the windows 7 professional setup screen, however nothing comes up and after a while (5 minutes or so) my computer restarts and it's groundhog day (has been doing it for the last 3 hours).

Can anyone help me?

I've decided to install XP CD from my desktop to my laptop which has that dreaded Windows Me o/s. I decided maybe the updates will not be that necessary as I will not access the web with it too much.
Problem is that during installation, it freezes and contiunally after rebooting. How can we work around this?

Hi all, trying to setup up a secondary monitor (LG 24MP58) for my Lenovo Yoga 900 tablet...to no avail. Everything seems to be assembled correctly, but absolutely no response from the LG. Doesn't even light up or appear to be "trying" to work. There are no physical buttons or controls of any kind, on the monitor. Win 10 generated a PnP monitor in Devices. HDMI is connected to Type-C USB port on tablet via Insignia adapter. Would eventually like to have a duplicate of my tablet screen on the LG.
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hey guys,

a week ago I bought a brand new Lenovo Y700 with a pre-installed SSD. Ever since I am experiencing BSOD while opening for example Photoshop or Lenovo Solution Center. 99,9% of the times it gives me this error: "kernel security check failure" and the other 0,01 it's something else, but still BSOD.

Here is my dump report.

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit installation contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and most analysts won't try it.
I recommend to install a genuine copy of Windows.
If, after you have installed a genuine copy of Windows, you still get BSOD's we'll be happy to assist you.

I posted a HI JACK log of my labtop a month ago at the HI HACK forums. I haven't had any help, so I figured to post it here as well.

Like I said, my new labtop is running strangely slow. It takes about 15 minutes just to load up the lab top. Is not normal at all.
Can someone help me?

Today I purchased a Toshiba Satellite Laptop (if any additional information is needed to solve this issue I will provide it, but I'm not sure what kind of information to specify otherwise - also, I'm completely new to Windows 8 and these forums and I apologize if this topic has already been posted - if it has, my hours of googling didn't find it.) There is an issue with my audio - everything sounds like it spikes around 1.5khz, the high end (6khz+) is very unclear and there's basically nothing in the low/bass end at all. (Basically it sounds completely terrible.)

I have determined that this issue is related to my sound driver (Conexant SmartAudio HD) and that this driver is up to date. I know that this is the source of the problem as my ASIO driver works perfectly and sounds normal on the same system. I am unfortunately unable to use this driver outside of specific software, though, hence my problem.

I am, however, having trouble locating and installing a different driver to remedy this issue (as said, the current one is up to date.) Nothing seems to be compatible, allegedly. I'm in need of general advice as I'm not sure how to fix this after trying for a good 7 hours.

You should be able to use both, or at least have both connected. I have a recording studio and at times I have both my Roland Octa-Capture connected to Sonar X3 and my PC sound (RealTek in my case) on for my audio editor program.

Have you tried a headset, to isolate it to the sound module, or the laptop speakers?

As this is a new PC, I would either take it back and exchange it for another (if that is an option), otherwise call Toshiba for warranty service.

I have a hp pavilion (dv6910us) laptop and recently I downgraded from Windows Vista to XP. I've installed all my drivers except for the sound. It's the sound driver that I'm having trouble installing.

First I went online and found this and used it as guide to get all my other drivers installed:

However, I'm unsuccessful whenever I try to install the sound driver or the alternative sound driver that are listed.

How might I go about fixing my problem? Is there a way to figure out what kind of sound device my laptop is using without taking it apart?

I got a Toshiba laptop about 5 months ago and when I first got it it was super fast and had no trouble playing games, over the months i have been doing system restores so it was back to factory settings and the past few days iI could not run anything. Games fan in 1fps, YouTube videos haven't been loading, iTunes takes about 5 minutes to load. System restore does not help me anymore.

XPS 13 9360 here.

I'm trying to run DBAN off of USB and getting a black screen when starting the program into interactive mode or executing a nuke command. However, I do get DBAN's initial start screen (won't go past that). I've created and used USB installs of DBAN and clonezilla countless times on other machines without any issue prior to this. No dice trying legacy options, disabling safeboot, and other boot options in bios. Same with clonezilla, the program would initiate, but launching in after the beginning screen it would go blank. Not sure what's up with this machine or how to fix it.

I'm trying to install itunes 9 on a computer running windows 7 pro x64. I don't know why, but the installation goes to about 80% and then doesn't finish. And yes, I am using the itunes x64 installer. Is there any way to completely remove the apple files so that it would start installing fresh, or is there some kind of compatibility issue with win 7?

A:iTunes x64 not installing for windows 7 x64

I downloaded and installed Itunes x64 today and it worked fine. Maybe if you run ccleaner and try and install it again. Failing that I guess the 32bit version should work.

I purchased a new Gateway desktop model DX4831. I tried to install iTunes 9 and it will not work. It says cannot access network location. It will download just won't install. The system runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. When trying to install i am using the administrator user name. Although when i try the installation under non-administrator users it seems to go further in the installation to the point where it checks the configurations and then just stops. At a complete loss.
