I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It's because Dolby has tuned them for Lenovo to work with Dolby Atmos. I'm sure by switching the audio types you're able to tell the difference from the speakers....

Well, I used my microphone on my laptop once to call a friend on Skype. Everything worked fine, even with my headphones plugged into the audio jack. But the day after, I try and do the same but my microphone isn't even working. After lots of frustration and trial and error, I find that it's the headphones being plugged into the audio jack that's causing this. Does anyone know how to fix this? Something simple, right? I use my headphones when I'm calling anyone. I don't want anyone to hear and I hate headsets with a burning passion. They make my head hurt, so is there any way to fix this? Thanks (:

A:Microphone Doesn't Work When Headphones are in Audio Jack

Try refreshing the audio. Go to the device manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the RealTek HD audio, then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the audio. This fixes any Windows/Audio corruption and many other problems. If you are lucky it will take care of your problem.

This issue popped up I'd assume in the past few days, but I only noticed yesterday for the first time. I use a Turtle Beach Ear Force X12 (don't know if that's of any importance, but I figured I'd type in case it does) headset. I noticed, when playing a game, my mic was not working. I later went into Control Panel and into Sound to see what the problem was. Oddly enough, there was nothing listed in Playback or Recording. I still received (and can still receive) sound from the headset. When in game, I'm assuming the only reason it doesn't work is because the Steam (the game hosting client) client doesn't have any headset to detect, as windows does not. I've tested a different headset (of the exact same model) on my computer, exact same issue. I tested my headset on a different computer (again, of the exact same model; my dad and I have similar hardware, an XPS 8700). So the issue is definitely on my computer, and not with the headset.

Again, as I've stated: The headphones work fine, audio goes right through them. Yet it isn't being detected in the Sound tab of control panel. I'd assume the microphone works fine (Outside of Steam, where I mainly use it), though I'm not sure where I'd test this. Any ideas on what I need to do would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this forum, so sorry if I didn't post any necessary information.

I just plugged in my new Sennheiser PC360's (2x 3.5mm) and straight off I notice that even with the microphone muted, I can blow into it and hear it through my headphones. Please post all possible solutions.

Heres what I have done:
1."listen to this device" is unchecked in the recording tab under microphone
2. There is no microphone in the playback tab, only headphones

I would like to use the microphone but not be able to hear myself when I blow or talk into it. Thanks.

Check your sound card's settings, too, not just the settings Windows has.

Somewhere there is something set to allow monitoring of the mic.

I have some Turtle Beach headphones and my problem is I can hear static and occasionally whining when I plug my headphones into my headphone jack in the back of my PC. The whining is more prevalent when I move the mouse, when the hard drive has activity, etc. Everyone said it was just the crappy onboard sound, so I got a dedicated sound card (Rosewill RC-701), but I still have the same exact problem. When I record my mic, I can hear the same kind of interference as well.

Any idea what I should do? It definitely seems like a motherboard problem, still.

EDIT: The static/whine does not happen in the BIOS, only begins when Windows starts up. Disabling/enabling onboard audio does not fix the issue. I did not have this problem with my old USB headset/mic combo.

Hello everyone. Im new to the forums, and was hoping you gents could help me with a problem i am having. My microphone is picking up audio from my headphones, and i have tried everything i can think of, and it is still doing it. I tested it out in the voice recorder with windows, and sound from other programs gets recorded, very loudly. I know enough about computers to know my mic sensitivity isnt too high or anything. I have an Asus P5Ld2 motherboard for my sound, and have double checked i have the latest drivers. Does anyone know what i can do to fix this?

Thanks in advance for any help i receive.

A:Microphone picking up audio from headphones

You probably just need to mute the Microphone under Playback in the Volume Control. Bring up the Volume Control by double clicking on your gray volume icon in the system tray. You should see Microphone with an box to mute it. This doesn't mute the microphone recording just the microphone playback, thats on a different part of the Volume Control. You may also need to mute or unselect the recording source. With the Volume Control open I believe there's an Options menu in the top left hand corner. Choose that, and I'm a little foggy at what to choose next but it should be self explanatory. You want to change to Recording and make sure ONLY microphone is selected as the input or recording source, not WAV or anything else.

Hi to all..

I have been bugged down by this problem. Whenever I plug in the microphone in the jack the speakers stop. Same is the case if I use headphones.

I can't figure out if the problem is with the sound card or the with any drivers or is it something else.

I have updated the sound driver.
Checked that all nothing is muted and the volume is full.

The headphone speakers and mic work well when used on another computer, so no problem with them.

The Control Panel>Hardware and Sound> Sound> Manage> Audio Devices shows speakers and headphones both as well as the microphone. But if headphones is selected again i get no sound. Microphone doesnt work in any case.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.
The sound driver is High Definition Audio Device and its version is 6.1.7600.16385.

It's really frustrating because I cant voice chat with friends.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx in advance.

Hey!

I just bought a pair of new headphones, SteelPad 5H Headset

https://www.steelpad.com/shop/default.asp?main=products (Not the USB version)

The audio is perfect, but the problem is i hear this very loud, constant, buzzing sound everytime i turn the microphone on.

I have no idea what the problem is Cant really explain it.

(For thoose who know what Ventrilo is..)
I went into Setup in Ventrilo, and used the Monitor function. When i keep the microphone volume on "Low" (Its got a controller on the cord to controll the audio) i get a constant buzz of 30-50 units. When i keep it at "High" i get a constant buzz of 250-270 units.

It's unbearable :/ I was hoping to throw my old table microphone away when i bought this headset, but its unusable :/

There arent any drivers with theese headphones, so it must be something else.
I didnt get this buzz with my last headphone/microphone.

Does anybody might know what the problem is?

Thanks in advance!

Could be a Ground loop.

You may want to try a Ground Loop Isolator.

I see that the laptop has two microphones instead of one, and I guess there is something wrong with the setup. I tried to change different settings with no luck. Also, I read that you somehow can change the mode to "conference" by pressing Fn+F6, but I am not sure whether this is a Skype setting (nothing happened when I tried) or a Windows 10 or a Lenovo setting. Please help! You likely don't need to reinstall the Creative drivers. You simply need to select the Creative audio chipset as the default audio source. You can only have a single audio chipset set as default, so you cannot use the Creative chipset and the USB chipset at the same time.

I have a Latitude E7470 and while my 3-ring headphones with built-in mic work just fine plugged directly into the laptop, the microphone function stops working when I connect them to the headphone/mic ports on an e-plus II docking station (using this adapter).
Prior to getting this setup, I had an older Optiplex desktop (Win7), and my headphones/splitter adapter had no issues - the headphone function worked and so did the mic.
System info: Windows 10 Enterprise, v1607 and Realtek Audio driver 6.0.1.6111
These are my current settings:

Any idea what's wrong? Again, the headphone functionality works (either when I use my headphones with splitter adapter, or plug them directly into the docking station headphone port), but the microphone doesn't - I can't record any sound even though, from the screenshot above, it appears to recognize a mic has been plugged in.

HP Pavilion x2 Detachable Just bought this beauty today. Awesome for it's price, exactly what I need as a small extra skyping/browsing tool next to my main machine and for on the go (in backpack on motorcycle, tethering with my phone). Everything worked perfectly out of the box. Except for one thing (of course, because there's always something). I use headphones, i.e. a normal good old-fashioned 3-piece connector, NOT one of those headset+mic kits (headset) with 4-piece connector. When I plug my head*phones* into the 3.5" jack however, the device automatically disables the on-board mic, even though the headphones ofcourse do not have a mic. Meaning I have to skype with the speakers on! Which is awful for many reasons, like the speakers on the device being quity flimsy, my hearing being bad (that's why I use headphones) and of course risking audio feedback loops (or clipping when activating loop protection filters). If the answer is: "just buy a headset", I will simply refuse as HP clearly says on the sound troubleshooting website that this 3.5" jack (with the little headset icon) supports plugging in a microphone, headphones and and headset  I tried: updating, rebooting, un- and reinstalling audio device, going through all driver/audio/recording/media settings, nothing found. I have a custom made computer with front audio jacks. I have recently added in a new motherboard and I decided not to connect the front jacks because I won't need them. How I found this problem was I saw my cpu usage very high for some reason and found out the dcomlaunch is using up 20-50 cpu. I then found out that dcomlaunch is to do with the plug-ins aka the front audio jacks which are disconnected? Every time my headphone and microphone devices within sound start disappearing and reappearing the dcomlaunch skyrockets using cpu.

When headphones was up I quickly went into the properties and it has (Jack information L R Front panel 3.5mm jack) as well as microphone the same. I have tried disabling them however that doesn't work I've tried re installing the high definition audio driver but that is not the problem I really think it is because the front panel is disconnected and I want to know if there is a way to get around this without reconnected the front panel.

No help. What to do? Using up to date Windows. April update did not help either.  ----(As a side note since I couldn't find a place to give feedback: it would be nice if the Pro Dock would stop crashing. Or at least would recover without removing the power cord. And I'm pretty sure that at the time I ordered the order page said that an ethernet adapter was included. No such luck. And the integrated on the chip fingerprint reader recognizes me maybe one time out of ten. I originally thought that it was broken, but I guess it just doesn't like me.)

Until recently I was able to unplug my headphones from the front input and my USB speakers would activate. So whenever I wanted to hear my USB satellite speakers that are plugged into a USB port on the back of my HP desktop, I would simply unplug my headphones.

Now, I have to manually go into the speaker panel and select whichever one I want in order for sound to be heard.

If sound is playing through the USB speakers and I set the headphone to default, if I close my Firefox browser and then re-open it, sound will be playing through the headset. Likewise the same in reverse.

I don't know what happened to force me to use the speaker panel to change which one I wanted. Before plugging in the headphones would just override the USB speakers and cancel them.

Any ideas what I may have done?

A:Headphones work or USB speakers work but only if I change to default

How does the sound work, if you do not use Firefox. Boot the PC but do not open Firefox. What device is set as default? (should be the USB device). Play a sound file on the PC with a media player (e.g. Windows Media Player) and confirm you are getting sound through the USB device. Then plug in the headphones and see if it automatically switches.

If it isn't working properly, without Firefox, then uninstall/reinstall the sound devices starting with the USB device (Uninstall in the Device Manager, but DO NOT uninstall any drivers, then restart the PC and let Windows reinstall the device).

If it works OK, without Firefox but still does not work correctly with Firefox that makes Firefox or whatever sound add on is being used in Firefox the suspect.

I have a Toshiba with Vista laptop (about 1 1/2 - 2 years old) and just bought a pair of headphones (Dynex USB headphones with mic for about $25 at Best Buy), but when I plug them in, the sound continues to come out of the laptop speakers (RealTek, I believe) but will not come out of the headphones, nor does the microphone work (I am trying to start a new job and need Skype to do so).

I have tried:
- Going through Control Panel > Sound > Device Manager
- Using the tips and tools on Skype
- Double, triple (ok, checking 100 times) that it's plugged in to a working USB port and that the mute is not turned on
- Using the sound level screen

What I am seeing now in my toolbar is: a speaker icon with a red and white X beside it. When I hover there, it tells me the volume level and "Speakers 2-USB PnP Sound Device"

I really, really want this job but it is not going to happen if I can't get this sorted out.

I have recently purchased some new headphones and as I listen to quite alot of music on the PC I would like to use them on there.

However the back my PC tower is hard to get to and I don't want to be crawling underneath everytime I want to switch between PC speakers and headphones.

I do have a headphone hole on the front of my PC, near the CD tray, but when I plug it in there it makes no sound.

Could anyone help me work out how to get my music playing through my headphones through this hole at the front?

Joe

Headphones don't work for me for some reason. I have an HP laptop, and it has two headphone jacks, but if I connect to one of them, the sound still comes out of the speakers...

Anyone else have a similar problem, or is it just me?

So last time I Disabled the head phones in the Sound>Playback device list and after that I couldn't see them on this list anymore (Even when checking Show Disabled Devices) I already tried Updating the Driver in Device Manager>Sound,Video and Game controllers>(HeadPhones)>Properties>Driver and it still didn't work , I also tried Re-Installing them from computer and Restarting the Computer and nothing helped. I don't have any panel jack Disable front detection option in Realtek HD Audio Manager

I'm on Toshiba Laptop, Windows 10 and using Logitech G930 HeadSet.
No hedphones nor microphone are enabled , and i can not change it.

I Have a Toshiba Laptop and also Logitech USB Headphones H340
They give good reproduction and Mike works ok
All I did was plug it into a USB Port and the Speaker symbol when you click or hover over it shows working 100%
They show up in Device Manager
Sound Video and Games Controller
Microsoft
Driver Version 10.010586.0
Driver is showing up as working ok

Since i didn't get too much help in this thread i decided to make a new one. I hope you won't consider it as spamming, because it isn't my intention.
Back to topic, this is the Device manager window:
it says it's working correctly but i don't get any sound from headphones (speakers built in the monitor are OK)

in the image there's also "Kontroler zgodny ze standardem High Definition Audio" in System devices which means something like: "Controller compatible woth the High Def Audio Standard"

A:Headphones still don't work

Where are you plugging in your headphones at? Is that a live jack?

I cannot get my headphones to work with my laptop.  I have done everything that is currently listed on the forums.  Sometimes I get one side to work.  Sometimes both sides work but the speakers do not disable.  I have two headphone jacks and the problem is the same in both.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling IDT high definition audio codec.  I have uninstalled IDT and reinstalled original codec.  I have disabled speakers, made headphones default device, waited until laptop was booted up before plugging in headphones, have tried different headphones.  It either doesn't discover headphones are plugged in, or plays in left ear only (never right) or even if it does discover the headphones will play the speakers at the same time.  Rarely but sometimes if I plug my headphones into the mic jack and then the headphone jack it will work correctly.  I have no other issues with the lkaptop and it works great on win 10.  Thank you

Hey Guys,
I cannot seem to make my headphones work with is laptop, It's a Dell Inspiron, i5 Windows 7, OS. Short of disabling everything I cannot get them to work with this system.
I know they work, I tested them on a Vista machine w/o any problems. But on my laptop they won't work at all.
I am not that familiar with the IDT audio control which I believe has some issues with changing it.
I'll take any offered solutions here, how about a little help here?? Thanks, in advance,
roc
