reinstalled pc, now create email in Outlook 2002 does not auto fill email address like before

Q: reinstalled pc, now create email in Outlook 2002 does not auto fill email address like before

I have had to reinstall pc due to it going at a crawl!!

After installing Outlook 2002, I can not get Outlook to auto fill the email address field when I start to type an email address in it.

The address book is there and in tacked after copying the outlook.pst file back to its original location after install.

How do I get Outlook to autofill?

Also when I click the 'TO' button in the new email window, it says that there is no address book!
but when I click the address book icon in the main Outlook window there are email address there?!

Any ideas how I can get this to work correctly again.

Preferred Solution: reinstalled pc, now create email in Outlook 2002 does not auto fill email address like before

I recommend downloading and running Outlook PST Repair. It's a PST repair tool that I've used it in the past to recover emails, contacts, tasks and notes from corrupt Outlook files that are damaged or inaccessible. Supports Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/1bjhSi. (This link will automatically start a download of Outlook PST Repair that you can save to your computer.)

A: reinstalled pc, now create email in Outlook 2002 does not auto fill email address like before

When you did the re-install, did you erase/format the hard drive before the re-install? If you did and did not save the Outlook auto fill file, then the all the auto fills you had are gone. Did you import the pst file into outlook?

Sorry the first post had the wrong Outlook version.

Up until last week the auto address fill worked in Outlook 2002. Since then I have checked the box for word as editor but when I click on "New" it says Word is Busy or is not available. I found a prior thread where someone had the same problem with 2003 the response was to add a .dll, I tried that and it did not work. Any ideas.
Also tried system restore to go back one week when the auto fill worked but the system restore does not work.

I switched over from OE to Outlook 2000 and I had a question about auto-fill email addresses.

In OE I could start typing a name, say Joe and OE would automatically fill in as I typed the name if it was in my address book. So instead of typing joe smith, I could type jo and joe smith would be filled in.

Does anyone know if Outlook 2000 will do this same thing? I have looked everywhere for answers and I can't find anything.

A:Outlook won't auto fill email addresses

I believe you either need Outlook2002/XP for that to work automatically or you can press Ctrl-K and it will pull up names in the Contact list.

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to stretch my resources and minimize some data entry, using the tools at hand. However, I've hit a bit of a wall on inspiration - looking for some ideas.

I have an Excel Spreadsheet (about 8 worksheets) that I use to log some daily activities - however, because I have a lousy memory, I like to email myself from the road with the notes for my Log. Then, when I return to the office, I either re-type (or copy/paste) my email notes into the appropriate sections of my log file.

What I'd LIKE to do is create a form and rule in Outlook that would auto-fill my Excel worksheets based on the text of my email. I'm not worried about Triggers (the rules setup on that end is simple enough for me), I'm more looking for the best way to have Outlook interact with Excel in this way.

I send emails from the road on my Android phone.

Any ideas? Thanks!

How do you edit an email address that you already have stored in your personal address book in Outlook 2002 (Office XP)? Seems a little different than previous versions. I go to Tools>Address Book (or just click the icon), double-click the address I want to change and it's greyed out - can't edit it.

The Outlook feature that automatically suggests email addresses as I begin to type in an address in email is not including many addresses that are no longer current. For example, when I try to send a message to my wife, it offers a list of six addresses, four of which are obsolete. I cannot find the file that contains these addresses to edit it. The various manuals speak of .wab files, but a search produces none. The only .pst file I can find doesn't contain the address list. Anybody know how to solve this one, I hope? BTW I am using XP and Outlook 2002.

When I click on a craigslist ad my yahoo email subject line no longer automatically fills in. Anyone know how to get this handy feature back? Thanks for any help.

A:yahoo email subject line won't auto fill

This depends on what Web Browser you're using. Most likely it's Internet Explorer, and you had it set to remember something specific or auto fill for that field. Often times, these can be screwed up by future actions. To prevent this, I would suggest downloading and using a program called "RoboForm". It will remember and learn information that you apply to a certain field in a web page. Each field has a specific name given by the web developer which you probably don't even know of. It remembers the form field name given like: yahoo_subj_field and then auto inserts text you entered into this field previously. IE does much of the same thing but can be screwed up easily throughout time.

I've just found a pst file with all my old email. I'd like to put them back on the server (hotmail) but before doing that I've seen that some of them were not recived (or sent) to my actual address (@hotmail.com) but to an old one (@infinito.it). So I was thinking to export them from outlook 2013 to CSV, modify that address into the new one and then import them back on outlook 2013. The problem is that when I export them to CSV, in that file they don't have the date (received or sent) and so when I get them back on outlook 2013 they miss that info.
Can anyone help me doing this? I've been told that VBA macro should be useful for this, but having a look in it I have no idea of what I sould do.
Ah, instead of outlook 2013 I can also use thunderbird (45.3.0) if it's easier with it, but then I'd have to convert that pst file.

I'll bet you have not heard this one before. I was attempting to send an email to a potential client. Everything seemed to work well except that it was returned. i have been trying to fix my email/outlook spam issue.  emails are going out WITH my actual email address, sending emails to people in my contacts, etc.
I also have been getting a ton of spam emails myself.
I use:
-Windows 7 Pro

-Outlook 2010
-I have our own domain name email address, that is hosted by Frontier
Odd thing:  I changed my password for my email, but my outlook kept sending/receiving with the old password.
When I tried to update  the new password in outlook (which I verified by using the webmail versus outlook), it would not accept it.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi guys heres one that is driving me nuts.
an email account is set up with an isp here , its btconnect.com
so the email is say [email protected]
now joe has two email aliases on his account e.g.

[email protected]
[email protected]

now when joe accesses his account through outlook it obviously checks the btconnect account and sends the mail to the correct alias, but it cant seem to do it.
what happens is , it logs on checks one alias then the server errors whilst checking the other as it is still logged on i assume to the main btconnect mail account and so errors out

e.g [email protected] works and roofing.co.uk errors out
i would like to find a way to check flooring first and roofing after but cant figure it out
someone suggested using identities in outlook express but isnt outlook the better program and surely there is some kind of feature for this problem

usually after it gets its bearings it is then happy and says send receive complete but after a couple of tries and leaving an error message at the bottom of the screen
as it is trying to check the two accounts on the same email address at the same time.
any ideas anyone
i am even willing to try thunderbird instead
just the managers like the calender etc in outlook

A:Outlook Using 2 email aliases on one email address

still no ideas on this one.
maybe using rules in outlook would help.
I could just check mail from the BT account
e.g. [email protected] and filter the mail for the aliases into the corresponding mail box, but how then if a mail is written in outlook could it be send from the correct account.
e.g [email protected] or [email protected] rather than the mail appearing as though it was sent from [email protected] , wow outlook is confusing stuff lol.

I am looking for a quick free way to get an email address that I create--all the way through, domain and all. Is there such a thing besides to join AOL?? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

A:Is it possible to create your own email address?

Well, all you have to do is buy a domain name from a hosting company, and then you have 2 options:

1. You set up e-mail forwarding so that anything which is sent to [email protected] gets forwarded to your current e-mail address... that way is a lot cheaper - most companies don't require hosting for that service, and it means that any1 who sends an e-mail to your old address will still reach you.

2. You get hosting for your domain. A lot more expensive. You will get POP3 access, and maybe even IMAP and webmail depending on the company again.

You should choose a company which is based in the same country which you live in as the speed tends to be a lot faster, as the ping is lower. It also helps with support and administrative issues. So what's it gonna be? I can give you advice on the cheapest hosting companies if you are willing to tell me where you live. If not, then it's not that hard to research... google it...

I went through the process of creating a new Email address and sent a test message from my other Email address to it but nowt happened.

A:I am not able to create a new Email address.

Give the new address more time for the email client's servers to recognize it....shouldn't be more than 24 hours.  Otherwise, make sure you are using the correct
address for the new email address.
If the problem persists....it might help others to help you if give the name of the email programs involved...like...Yahoo, Gmail, Outlook, etc.
EDIT: check the settings for the new email account....Outlook for instance, allows blocking all senders except those in your address book. Not likely
a default setting but worth the time to check the settings.

Does anyone know a way to create an email alias? I sometimes need to email data to people without enabling them to contact me (they're supposed to go through a help desk). I've looked at services like 10minute mail, but they don't enable you to create and send mail, only receive it. Any ideas?

A:How to create an email alias or expiring address?

Go through a help desk? Can I assume there is a web site, with a domain name in the mix somewhere?

I would use the email services connected to the web site or domain name to create a generic email account, then configure it with an "auto response" that responds to any email sent to it with a message to contact the help desk. You can then use the email to send and do not have to be concerned if the recipient attempts to respond to the email instead of contacting the help desk.

However if you only have access to "free" email like google mail, yahoo mail, etc, I do not think you have this option. It might be time to have your own domain name and use the associated email account?

Hi all. I think this is an auto complete thing...

I have been logging into my email accounts via webmail for years via the same url. I have four different email accts, and when I load the page, I simply dbl-click in the email field, and I see all four addresses. If I click on one, the pwrd auto-fills, and I am good to go.

My host recently swapped me to another server, and I now have to access my webmail via a different url. I go to that url, and there are no email address there when I dbl-click in the email field. Ok, no biggie. I enter the first address and pwrd, and log in. Windows does not ask me if I want to save the username and pwrd. Weird. I log out, and log into the other three one by one, and with each, I am prompted to save the username and pwrd, which I do. I log out of the fourth one, and then attempt to log back into the first - which I can do, but Windows again does not prompt me to save the username and pwrd. I have rebooted twice, and each time I log in to that specific email, I just log in - no prompt. And that email is not in the email field when I arrive at the log in page.

Anyone have any idea what the heck is going on?

Thanks in advance.

A:Can't get auto complete to remember an email address

That's a nice explanation, but, what the heck webmail and browsers are you using??

If you're using IE, see: Internet Explorer AutoComplete - Turn On or Off for settings.
Since your Host changed servers that first addy may have to be placed in a trusted zone.
There's the possibility with the transfer of servers, the new server still thinks that, that first addy is already saved.
It could be the new server doesn't recognize a security certificate for that addy.
If browser settings are okay, I'd check with your Host.

And please; It would be very helpful if you would fill out your System Specs, you can use the tool included in the Tutorial here: System Info - See Your System Specs just read through the tutorial, use one of the downloads, and it will automagically fill them in for you.

Your welcome.

Hi rpi

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Have you tried the Detect and Repair option in the Help menu?

Have you tried creating a new Profile?
With Outlook closed:
Control Panel > Main Icon > Show Profiles > Add

Set up a new Personal Folder (.pst) with your email account and restart Outlook with the new Profile to see if you can duplicate the problem.

If the problem goes away, open the original .pst file into the new Profile.
File > Open > Outlook Data File
Browse to the .pst file, usually in the C:\Windows directory.

See if the problem returns, if it does, copy all the folders from the original Personal Folders (.pst) into the new Personal Folders (.pst), then Right click on the original Personal Folders and select Close to remove it from the new Profile.

Let us know what happens.

i do have a signature.
I followed the help procedure

Turn Word on or off as your e-mail editor or viewer
Do one of the following:

Turn Word on or off as your default e-mail editor for all new messages

From the main Outlook window, click the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format tab.
Select or clear the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages check box.
Turn Word on as your e-mail editor for one new message

But as noted above i was not able to do that.

secondly i tried the following

On the Actions menu, point to New Mail Message Using, and then click Microsoft Word (message format).
i tried this but i got the following error message
MICROSOFT OUTLOOK "Can't create the item"

please advise what could be wrong here.

Hi every one,

I am having a problem with backing up my email accounts in Outlook. I want to back up my outlook, just manually, not using any softwares, and I can do so with emails, rules, address book etc. But the only one thing I cannot back up is email accounts. I use Outlook XP 2002, and unfortunately, in the E-mail Accounts Tab (Tools - Email Accounts - View or change existing email accounts) there is no Export Tab for any of my email accounts. Microsoft Outlook seems to not have any tool to back up email accounts? So anybody has suggestion?

Anyway, I heard that there is a way of backing up email accounts by exporting keys in regedit. But actually, I don't know how.

Thank you

Do you have a personal firewall set up? Try disabling it or the Windows firewall and see if that makes a difference.

Hi, everyone.
I need to do a clean reinstall of my OS.

Anyway, before I FDISK everything out of existence, I need to back up all my crucial information, which mainly ends up being our email folders, email rules, and our half dozen or so email account configurations.

Can anyone help me with simple step-by-step instructions for backing up email folders, rules, and account info (SMTP server info, passwords, etc.) for Outlook 2002 (not Outlook express - everything online seems only to pertain to Outlook Express) on Windows XP?

In the past, I have tried just copying my .pst file to a cdrom, but that didn't backup our rules wizard rules or our email account configurations.

If I am leaving out any critical info, please let me know. Your help is appreciated!
