I was sent an email from a site I didn't sign up to showing a password I use!

Q: I was sent an email from a site I didn't sign up to showing a password I use!

About 5 hours ago, I was checking my emails on my Iphone and found an email on an account I don't use often.
The email title : Registration on Turbobit.net
I've NEVER heard of this site before! I clicked on it and in the email it says "You have registered in File Sharing Service..."
Your Login: MY EMAIL
Your Password : A PASSWORD I USE FREQUENTLY! (but not the password to the email itsself)
Ever since reading this email, I've been pretty freaked out and I don't know what to do. The fact that one of my few passwords has been used to sign up to a website I've never heard of/ didn't sign up for.. makes me wonder what other info and other passwords whoever signed up for this has of mine.. I searched the site name and found another person 2 months ago had the same exact problem. He received the same email with his password in the email.
What steps do I need to take to protect myself? I'm scared of logging into any bank accounts on my computer to change passwords. I feel like doing so, will only give them more information! I don't know whether the password was tracked through my laptop, my desktop (Both Windows 7) or my iphone (if possible). I don't know where to start.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Preferred Solution: I was sent an email from a site I didn't sign up to showing a password I use!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Well a website that is for online dating has created a user as i believe with my email address, i have not signed up to this website. Firstly i am too young to be a member of such website under 18, and i keep getting people wanting to talk to me and sending emails to my personal address.

I have emailed the websites support twice expressing my concerns but i would like to know exactly what i could do about this but i am still unsure as i don't think i can complain to anyone or take things further.

They have failed to reply to 2 of my emails

A:Website has created a user with my email address (which i didn't sign up to)

Maybe someone signed you up for the site as a joke.

You could log in to the site. Look around for a way to delete your account. If you find one, delete it.

A:How to show all site i sign in with my yahoo email ?

If you're saying you want to use your yahoo username/password to log in to every website you go to, I think its safe to say no one here will tell you thats a good idea. Each website you go to should have a separate username/password.

I haven't been able to sign in to my Yahoo email account for 5 days now. I have tons of info on this email and would HATE to lose it ! Yahoo
is absolutely NO HELP ! I signed up for this account 6 yrs ago and don't remember birthdate or zip code info I entered. Now, Yahoo tells me they can't send me my password without this info!

It just will not ACCEPT my current password which makes me think someone has hijacked my password and possibly my Yahoo account.

Any suggestions on how I can "crack" the password for my Yahoo email
account ? It still accepts my Yahoo ID, just not my password. I'm really worried !

I went to log into my Yahoo mail the other day, I'm running Vista 64 bit on a Dell laptop. When I clicked on the "User Name" my regular email address was there but there was an entirely Different one that scares me. It's titled [email protected] and has a pre populated password.(hammond was my unmarried name)
Needless to say I did not open it, even tho my curiosity was killing me. I don't know why this email is there but it most certainly sounds suspicious to me!!
Has anybody ever heard of this and know what it is? How do I get rid of it? I'm afraid to even go into my real emai now from my computer. Everything seems ok with my email on my ipad and iphone.

How to force IE 11 to ask for saving credentials again for just one web site, after having accidentally sellect not to remember password for that particular site. Please, take into account that:

- I'm totally aware that storing credentials is not a good security practice, but in my particular case this is what I need to do.

- I know that reseting IE or similar approachs will do the job, but doing that I'll lost more tan 70 web sites credentials. I need a solution not involving loose all the web credentials stored.
- I also know that there is way to do the trick "lying" to IE using a modified but similar username, but this only works in some web sites, depending on the kind of login mechanism used. In my particulare case this trick also does not work.
- I also know that there was a registry hack for this particular problem, but this does not work with IE last versions.

Any help would be very apreciated.

Hey everyone

Every now and then my Windows 8.1 x64 shows the first sign-in sequence after a restart. I noticed it most recently happened after a normal Start->Power Options->Restart. I'm quite sure it has also happened after right clicking on start button (Control-X) and restarting from there, as well as from a custom shortcut I have for restart (shutdown.exe /r /t 00).

I had just finished installing IBM SPSS 22 for a class I'm taking, but I think this is unrelated.
It goes through the whole "Setting Up Your PC" and "Installing your apps" screens even though its perfectly fine and and all my data including app data is still there. See the attached file for an example of what was most noticeably shown.

With another incident, something similar to this happened but it actually reset some of my settings for things like MediaMonkey, Connectify Hotspot, GOM Player and VLC player. It was like they had been started for the first time ever with no license information or preferences like Always on Top.

Its not a matter of urgency but I keep worrying that one day it will actually mess with my system in a very annoying way.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

So weird thing just happened. I got 8 emails in a row which were along the lines of 'mailer-daemon return address' or 'out of office' replies meaning I sent emails, but the thing is I didn't. I then went to my sent email folder and no new sent emails show up except for the ones I did send over 3 days ago. This is a gmx.com email address. I then got a new email along with those other 8 from my gmx email to my gmx email but it was listed as being sent on april 8 so it was kind of lower on the page due to read emails being ahead of it. I have absolutely no contacts saved on that account so after looking through the bounced back emails I realized it may have sent emails to everyone I sent an email to since creating the account (a year ago). I even got one on my other email address from myself which I had once sent an email to. The email message is just an url that leads to some chinese website --> url here: sizenha.com/eitw9v.php I apologize in advance if I shouldn't have pasted that url. I use bit defender total internet security 2013 so I don't think I have any malware or spyware. I haven't clicked on any odd links or anything lately so I don't know what would have caused this. I ran malware bytes and super anti spyware to be sure and super anti spyware found a bunch of cookies which it said weren't really threats but it may track some stuff I do so I got rid of it anyway. I don't think that had anything to do with it. J... Read more

I just got the notebook, I didn't know prior to set up the password I needed to create a password reset disk.  Now I can't remember what my password is and I am stuck, cannot use my new laptop.  I tried the number listed on your answer to the above people, it didn't work for me. please help!sunflower5

A:I forgot password but didn't know to set up a password reset...

Hi, One option, if all your personal data etc is backed-up or you have nothing you need to save, would be to reset the notebook to its 'Factory Condition' and then set it up from the beginning ? if you don?t have your Recovery Media, the notebook will have shipped with a Recovery Partition which can be accessed at boot - ie shutdown the notebook, then start tapping away at f11 as soon as you power on. A full guide on this can be found on the following link. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04758961 Regards, DP-K

Not only did this image just show up, it came with its own shortcut on the desktop to it. I deleted all the free images that came with Windows Gallery, but sometimes, images just show up, like the creepy one with the man's face with a whirpool distortion of it. It shocks me everytime I see it. I delete it, then after a while, it comes back.

Today, there was an icon-shortcut on my desktop to an image in the windows gallery. So, now I get a shortcut and an image (the short cut is to the unwanted image).

I don't think this is a Vista problem, but programs that we have are taking it upon themselves to give us new unwanted icons-shortcuts, to ads. I have another icon-shortcut to a website page (which is actually stored on my PC not really on a website), but creating icons-shortcuts for us??????

We need more computer laws.

Programs should only be allowed to put on icon to execute the program.

I'm new in the forums, so guidance on posting is welcome. I attached a screen shot of the icon-shortcut on my desktop and what happens when I open it.

I'm not against efforts towards world hunger, but just that sneaky way of getting it on my desktop is bothering me.

I am new here and my problem is that Strange searches appear in my google history everyday, I've changed my password many times, nothing works. I am the only one who uses this computer. No one knows my info. I don't use other computers at any time. I have also done a scan and my computer is clean. These searches appear to be random, and sometimes they are a certain category. Some are porn searches, some are not.I've deleted it but different searches appear even after I delete them.

Apparently, others have this problem because I've done research, they are old threads about this topic and I read the responses and it dicussed among a lot of people on the googleproduct forums and on one thread about this same topic on google product forums, it was started 1/10/11 the last reply wasn't too long ago,the date the last reply to this thread was Jun 14 of this year, and two people made a thread about this same topic about this just this month or so. Which gave me a piece of mind. Its annoying and irriating. Is anyone having this problem? Because I didn't find much research out this topic outside of google product forums, and if I find others this happening is to, I will probably won't be as bothered.

I recently discovered two new user accounts on my computer and no idea how they got there. They have weird names - A65AECA2A06F4887AB01 and AE2640E6361B4955B852. They are standard users and it appears they were created 4 minutes ago. I use Norton 360 and I do not use wifi. I do virtually no downloads and rarely accept attachments from anyone. I'm on Windows 7. These accounts show up under control panel but if you try to switch users, only my administrative and non-admin accounts show up. How can I understand where these accounts came from?

A:User accounts I didn't create showing up

A few questions:

1. Can you correlate the appearance of these accounts to anything in particular that you did recently on your system?

2. Are you able to delete these accounts? Try that, then reboot your system and see if they appear.

3. Is your Norton360 up-to-date?

Please do the following:

1. Click Start
2. In the search box, type event viewer
3. From the list that appears, click on View Event Logs
4. In the explorer column on the left, select Windows Logs, and then Security.
5. Find the recent Event ID's, and in the Window below that, see if you can find the strange looking user accounts. Post any information on them that you find.

Example shown below.

Recently, I just updated Avast! (the FREE one) to the new version because it didn't work properly. That fixed the problem. After 2 or 3 weeks, Avast shows this:

I have been using Avast! Free for years now. I didn't upgrade to the pro version or anything. It also says "Avast Pro Antivirus" at the top of the Avast window.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I want the free Avast! free version, not the trial of the pro version.

If you were using the free Avast! and didn't upgrade to PRO, then you won't lose anything by uninstalling Avast, downloading the Avast cleanup tool from their site and running it to clean all the left in crap, and then installing Avast! free again from scratch.

I know spammers have some pretty slick techniques but.....how do i stop this ? On my yahoo account i get a lot of emails especially lately that are FROM my address, going to either someone else or the same username at a different provider, like aol.

So, it makes it look like I sent it!!!!!! How do I stop it???? How can they send email from MY address??? And then i'm getting "mail returned" messages saying that the other address that "I" sent it to doesn't exist. So, not only are they using my address but they are wastiing internet bandwidth sending to non-existant addresses!!!!!

Spam makes me so mad. Almost mad enough to become an Activist in stopping spam. I think we should eliminate "anonymous" email services completely especially yahoo and hotmail.

My home pc was infected by "windows protection suite" fake spyware protection. That is when I first found I could not get to the gmail site and could not sign into google toolbar. IE just says it cannot locate the site. After removing the "windows protection suite" spyware virus, I still cannot bring up the gmail site or sign into the toolbar, however, everything else works fine and I can access other sites and email on yahoo, and windows live/hotmail and on cox. I have no problem on my netbook accessing gmail and google toolbar though. Also tried various web browsers (firefox, google chrome and internet explorer) with same results on my PC. I have scanned the computer with malware malbites, McAfee suite, spyware detector and ESET smart security (which actually removed the virus). I have also scanned with the restore off. still no luck.

If you usually connect to

I don't know a lot about computers but i've been trying to boot from a cd to launch a repair disk, i have the blue screen of death.

But the promblem (other than the BSoD) is that my Bios is asking for a password and i've never put a password on it. I wouldn't know how. It's a dell laptop so is it possible that dell put it on? Or is this a virus of some kind?

Thanks for any help.

A:Bios password asked for when i didn't set one

Did you try leaving the password blank? hit enter.

I have never heard of one being set by the factory, usually is set by someone with access to the PC as a joke or worse. Or set by the previous owner.

Did you buy it new or used?

If you purchased it New from Dell you can call Dell and prove ownership and they will give you the master password unique to your PC, if they do give you this master password, record it somewhere safe in case you need it again.

I apologize if this was covered in the body of another thread, I couldn't find it based on the subject lines.

My Trend Micro complete security suite was running at all times. I did not open any suspicious email (from unrecognized sender) and avoided all forwarded email. I have no idea where this malware originated. I suspect a trojan horse of some kind. I hesitate to try free scans from other security software (like norton), because these companies are notorious for putting code onto computers that is extremely difficult to remove and can interfere with installation of a different security program.

I need to fix this fast and apologize to everyone on my contact list (whew, that's going to be a big deal, unless there's some way to send a bulk email without revealing everyone's email address without adding each contact individually and using Bcc.

Please help, I ran a deep Trend Micro scan that came up empty. I've trusted Tech Guys for years, this is the big one...

I have already changed my password and security question at gmail. I am running Microsoft's malicious software tool right now.

Hi there,

I installed windows 8 release preview on my Samsung Slate yesterday. When it asked me to enter a password, I didn't and continued. After the installation was complete, the system asks me for a password. I press enter but it says the pw is incorrect so I tried all my old passwords but to no avail. I cannot reinstall it because I'm unable to change the boot order from bios to my 32GB USB thumb drive as it is not letting me.

I am desperate and any help would be absolutely great.

Hi All -

I've spent several hours trying to get this to work. I have 2 different accounts on my desktop. One account the same spotlight image is displayed on the sign-on screen and lock screen as expected. On the other account, I have everything set the same, but the sign-on screen just shows a picture instead of the spotlight lock screen image.

I've tried turning it off, checked that Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing was selected. Everything looks the same as the other account.

I'm at wits end. Anyone have any ideas what else I should look at?

Windows build version: 14393

Thanks -

I am so embarrassed. It was sent to ALL of my personal and business contacts(hundreds of them). The attachment leads them to a site that sells Viagra, etc. I don't use that site and can't understand how it could happen. I also don't know what to do next to make sure it can't happen again.

Please help me. My husband is furious as it also went to all of his company and business associates that he's known for 38 years.

What do I tell everyone to do? Is it a virus?

I have XP Home on my laptop.. I ran AVG and had many Virut viruses.. AVG cleaned/removed... When I went back to logon on I received the windows logon window. I entered name and PW and then it quickly flashed "loading personal settings" but then it said logging off and went back to the logon screen... This happened over and over.. It does the same in safe mode. I am unable to get into the program....
I then installed XP PRO in the same drive...did not partition. So now when I log on I have a choice between either home or pro but I cannot get into home and that is where most of my files are...

I have an email I get on a regular basis that I can see who it's from and the subject line but the body of the email is blank. I have problems with it in WLM but I can view it just fine in web mail and from my iPhone. Not sure if it's an issue on the end of the person who's sending it or an issue with WLM but since I can view it completely in web mail and on my iPhone I would think it's something with WLM. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

A:Body of email not showing in one particular email in Windows Live Mail

Hi, I finally was able to talk with someone from the place that was sending the email in question I was having issues with. They found out their emails are not compatible with WLM but are working on a resolution. I'm not sure what kind of email service they're using but it's not like WLM is some obscure mail client. Anyway, I'm marking this as solved even though I've received a few emails from them since and still having the issue of nothing in the body of the message. Now that they've figured out what the issue is I hope they fix it soon.

Yesterday everything was working fine. Yesterday evening, I cleared my history in Firefox and in IE (I use them both). I went out at night, and came back at like 2am, and checked my email and everything still worked just fine. I shut off my computer and went to bed. This morning when I booted it up, I tried to check my hotmail with Firefox and got:The connection was refused when attempting to contact loginnet.passport.comI get the same problem when I try to login at mail.yahoo.com.When I try to load the gmail website, the page won't even load. When I try to access those sites in IE, I get "the page cannot be displayed."When one email site goes down, I assume it's just a server error, but when all of them go down at once, I assume I have a virus or something (especially when I talk to other people who can access them).I searched around online and found some people with similiar problems and it seems that the problem is accessing secure sites. I tried this, and was unable to log into amazon.com or ebay.com, etc. So, I think my problem deals with secure sites.I think it's very strange that everything was working when I shut down last night, and then this morning it's not. I read the pinned thread on not being able to access secure sites:1. I verified that I have 128-bit encryption.2. I deleted temporary Internet files.3. Adding https://www.hotmail.com to trusted sites didn't do anything.4. Clearing the SSL State didn't do anything.5. SSL 2.0 and 3.0 are checked.6... Read more

Well, I feel like a lamer. I shut down my computer, unplugged and restarted my cable modem, started my computer back up, and everything seems to be working now.

Beats me.

Thanks anyway. This is a good site.

I would have edited the title of this thread to say the problem was fixed but it will only let me edit posts, not the title.
