I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Since yesterday, i have been unable to access my pc with a constant loop of the HP logo with a spinning spiral loading constantly or "preparing automatic repair" and sometimes being eventually lead to an error message saying something like "your PC ran into a problem" and that it needs to restart.

anyone have any idea of how i could fix this?

by the way my PC has no disk drive.

i would be very grateful if i could have some feedback.

A:HP Pavilion wont boot, cant access anything PLEASE HELP!

Hi

The very first step you should do is to confirm whether the issue is caused be hardware or software reason. I would recommend running the built in diagnostic test as the first stepp.

1. Press Esc during power on to interrupt booting and display "Startup" menu.

2. Press F2 or select Diagnostic from menu to execute a diagnostic test. Some newer HP models may have separate testing routines to test HDD, RAM etc. Make sure to run all of them. Also make sure to run the "Extended/Full" version of HDD test.

Let us know the result with next reply.

Further Details:
Motherboard: 441534-001
Processor: AMD
GPU: nvidia geforce 7600
OS: Win 7 -64 bit
Ram: 4GB
ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY.......
Should i change my motherboard now or do u think there would be any other minor problems that can be looked upon.....pls help

A:Hp Pavilion dv9000 wont boot

Changing the motherboard on a laptop is not really an option. Cost wise it will probably be about the same as buying a new laptop.
I have had laptops labelled dead by repair shops when all that needed doing was to re seat some connector. Link to video on how to take the laptop apart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOdmGuiq1l8
Fair warning: it's going to take MUCH longer than the 15 min of the video to dismantle it and putting the thing back together is tedious and delicate work

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)After updating to Windows 10 my pc (model f23-6010ea) won't boot. It doesn't even seem to start the POST. Screen blank, keyboard and mouse totally unresponsive. There is power. The fan is on and disk light comes on for a few seconds. The disk doesn't seem to be spinning up though. I disconnected the drive and also disconnected the CMOS battery for a while. this had no effect. The graphics card is built in so I couldn't test this. There are no beep codes. Nothing. But the pc is clearly powered up There is only one exteral button on the pc which is the on off switch. Is there any way to reset the pc to factory settings and/or reflash the bios without keyboard mouse and screen access? Apologies. I originally posted this in the Misc forum but I then though that this is the more correct one and switched. Thanks johhny

Greetings, Download (on another PC) the Win 10 .ISO here and follow instructions to create either USB or DVD install media. Boot to media on your PC and try repair options. If this fails you will have to reinstall factory operating system. You are one of the unfortunate individuals having a failed Win 10 install and no automatic rollback to the previous operating system. Also see this article by Ed Bott. TomP

I'm having the same issue as this post from 2013!  yikes. Pavilion HPE H8-1121 - New graphics card + PSU, wont boot past HP screen.  I've installed a newer power supply (Seasonic 620W), which has been working well.  I also installed a GTX 660Ti last year and it's been working great as well.  I recently purchased a ZOTAC GTX 970 and have attempted to install that, but it won't go past the blue HP screen and I get the same beep code (1 long, 3 short) which, it seems, suggests the video isn't initializing. My BIOS date is 2011.Where would I find an update for this?I'm also using Windows 10, which I just found on the HP site isn't tested on my model and would likely not support it's use well.  Should I roll back to 7 or 8?  and then update BIOS?  Is there an update for my BIOS and where do I find it.Anyway, I'm hoping that's a solution.  This still isn't a bad machine for being 5 years old. Thanks for any help!

After I upgraded the ram memory of my HP DV6 from 4Gb to 8Gb (2 x 4Gb Kingston KTA-MB1333/4G), Windows wont boot anymore. I get blue screens and it keeps rebooting. I believe the specs of the memory are similar to the original Samsung M471B5673EH1-CH9 memory: 1333Ghz, non-ecc, 1.5Volt, Cas latency 9 etc.etc. It's a HP DV6-2140ED laptop with an Intel i5-430m processor and Intel mobile HM55 chipset. The bios detects 8Gb and it also passes the memory check/test. As far as I know I also installed the latest bios firmware: F.1D. Reinstalling my Windows 10 64-bit doesnt work either: with 8Gb I also get blue screens after I try to boot from my Windows 10 bootable usb flash drive. I read of other people having the same problem, but I havent read of a solution yet. What can be done about this?

Hey guys, in need of some help, got a HP Pavilion DV6-3040SA that wont boot up.

The screen isn't coming on and the caps lock is just flashing away at me, on the list of error codes on HP's website it tells me that one flash is CPU issue. When I first had the laptop doing a hard reset and then swapping RAM about cured the laptop and it got to the boot stage. As I needed to re-install Windows I had to wait for the hard drive to be given to me to install. I come to the laptop only to find its flashing away at me again.

Tried re-seating CPU and moving RAM around but this time its still broke. Any ideas?

All 4 arrow keys to reset BIOS... didnt work... Then removed the CMOS battery (tested with multimeter and it has 3V power on it) put it back in... still no luck...  Am running out of options now... can anyone suggest any other options or explain me whats going on? TIA...AllPisces

Hello there,

It seems like you did not perform a clean installation of Windows and that's why your system is acting up.

Follow the steps below to install a new copy of Windows:

1. To format your hard disk during Windows 7 installation you will need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Insert your Windows 7 disc in your CD/DVD drive. Please note: will need to restart or turn on your system with the disc in the drive.
2. After turning on your system with the CD in the drive go ahead and press any key when prompted during your computer post routine and then follow the instructions presented on screen. If you don’t see this go back to step 1 to setup your BIOS to boot from CD or USB flash drive depending on your installation media.
3. On the Install Windows page simply enter your preferences and click next.

4. Accept the Windows license agreement.

5. On the “Which type of installation do you want” page go ahead and choose the “Custom” option.

6. Select Drive options (advanced) on the “Where do you want to install Windows” page.

7.  Select the partition that you want to change, choose the formatting option you want to perform and then follow the instructions.
When allocating space choosing the default MB size for your drive is typically the best for most users since you want to take full advantage of all your disk... Read more

So my co worker asked me to look at her laptop its a toshiba tecra m2. The boot keeps hanging up on the system32 file agp440.sys . I went on the internet and found a windows xp pro disk to try and replace the system32 file using recovery. After a learning how to add SATA drivers to the windows xp boot I was able to detect the hard drive and just before windows setup screen comes up the computer blue screens with a 0x0000007B stop error... I read that the battery could cause this so i carefully took apart the computer and replaced it with no change. I put a windows 7 disk in to see if i could use the recovery console in it and suprisingly it booted no problem, i was able to use command prompt but with no idea what the problem is i have no idea what to do with it. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated. Thanks for reading the problem hope someone has an idea. any more info needed just ask

thanks

A:Windows wont boot hangs up on agp440.sys and wont complete boot off the disk :/

Info on 7B STOP errors...http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.htm, scroll down to 7B in left column.

IMO, you have compounded the situation by using a "downloaded" version of Windows, since I suspect that such may contain embedded malware as part of the package.

Any number of things may have caused the initial hang, as you can see by reading the data at the Aumha website.

Hello - I hope someone is able to help.  I am having issues with my pavilion dv6.  The laptop is about 6 years and wont start up.  I dont think the hard drive is fried but I need to access the information stored on the laptop as I dont have it backed up and transfer the data to my new laptop.  I have tried to back up the files through Recovery Manager onto a hard drive but it keeps coming up with 'There is currently not enough space on the system partition for temporary storage during data compression.  You must free up some space on the system partiton to continue with the task'.  Is this refering to my laptop hard drive? The external hard drive I have is 2TB and the laptop is 750GB and I haven't used all the space on the laptop harddrive.  Also, not sure to do the Microsoft System Restore - Restore your system to an eariler date.  Will this delete any of my personal data on the old laptop.  Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks

I have an old hp Pavilion 6830 that i've been trying to get to work. I had a friend who also had an hp Pavilion (different model, same age) that he had taken apart, accidentally destroyed the motherboard, and gave the parts to me. I used his parts for a ram upgrade (and replaced a cpu board that had been mysteriously torn upon lifting the side panels) and went from 64 mb to 128mb. I didn't have the power cord at the time for my monitor so i could not test if it displayed. I plugged in the computer to turn it on, when it oddly turned on by itself. I could not turn it off, it would simply restart automatically. i pulled the plug and came back to it a week later after finding the monitor cable. when i went to to turn on the computer, it turned on by itself (again) immediately upon plugging it in, but this time the orange disc drive light lit up and it beeped 6 times, and it provided no display. I checked and made sure everything had been set properly, and nothing was damaged.

My Pavilion All in One has died. It was working fine last night. This morning, the screen was blank apart from a cursor but this would not react to input from the mouse or keyboard. I powered off and back on and absolutely nothing happened. I have tested the power supply which is confirmed as providing 19.5V DC. When I connect it, the LED on the motherboard lights up solid. When I press the power switch, the LED there also lights - but nothing else happens. No fan, no nothing. I have disconnected all the power cords I can see on the mother board and reconnected them one at a time but nothing responds. It would seem that power is coming into the PC and reaching the power switch but I cannot determine if it is getting beyond there (ie - could it be a faulty power switch?) Is there a simple way to confirm if power is leaving the switch and going back to the motherboard? Any and all thoughts, suggestions and solutions gratefully received.

Hello, I have the HP Pavillion DV7. I loved this laptop. A few months ago it started shutting completely off while I was working on it.  All of a sudden, it turned off and will not come back on at all. I have had it plugged in and there are no lights that come on or anything. I use this for my crafting business I have on the side, and with the features and screen size, it works great for my crafting needs, and I don't want to spend the money to buy a new one. I know it is not a new laptop, but as I said it was great for what I needed. Does anyone know what may have caused this and if it would be an easy fix, if at all possible to fix? And, I bought it around 2010, so as I said, not new.  Thanks in advance!

2 years 2 months is just about when you can expect the battery to need replacing. We can go through a whole lot of diagnostics and questions but 95% we will wind up telling you to replace the battery and if not now certainly in the next few months anyway.

Last night I updated windows 8.1 from windows 8.
It got to the stage where it needs to restart so it done that started the configarations and once it reached 100% it restarted.

Since then what happens is when i press power on the samsung logo comes on the screen then the black screen with the windows picture then the bsod comes up for around half a second and it restarts. then it constantly does this.

The whole cycle only takes a few seconds.

Ive tried booting in safe mode but this isnt working so I downloaded kav rescue on another computer and saved it on a flash drive, But it wont boot off this either.

Any ideas?

What does the BSOD state? Most times it is a driver issue with the Display drivers. Other times it is hardware.

Hello,

Today I noticed that I could not open my start menu with neither the windows button, ctrl + esc, or a click of the mouse. I've also had a problem the last couple of days saving/opening files in one of the programs I used to make music. I tried to go into safe mode to do system restore, but the safe mode didn't boot. It scrolled all the system files on the screen but then just stopped and nothing happened.

So, I tried the other option (forget what it's called) that lets you perform various other system restoration tasks. I brought up the system restore screen from there, but got an error that said something about corrupt files so it could not perform the restore. I checked again, and all my restore points had been deleted.

Lastly, when I click computer, all the drives are blank with no names beside them, only the icons. I can still click them and they seem to be functioning normally, so I don't know if there is a relation to this. I don't know if some registry files were deleted or if there is some other problem. I didn't notice the start menu/safe mode/blank icon issues until I just recently installed the latest windows update.

Sorry if this seemed a little long winded, but I would appreciate help from anyone.

Thanks,

You need to be much more specific about what your problem is. I can't tell at all from your post what's really happening, and neither will anybody else. What exactly happens? What exact messages do you get? What "advanced options" are you talking about? Also, it appears this site's profanity filter has blocked something in your post. Using such language is not helpful.

When i boot my computer it comes to a black screen and says windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change may have caused this to fix the problem insert windows installation disc ... Then tells me how to repair this problem. I have found my disc to fix this but when i put it in my computers disc drive doesnt recognize there is a disc in there and doesnt spin! Ive looked everywhere online and the only fix to the disc drive problem is to boot windows and fix it from there (unless i buy a new one and i have no idea how to put a new one in in the first place) and the only way i have found to fix windows is with the disc! Please help me

Edit: i know this is only partially a windows 10 issue but i didnt know where to post it

This morning I was downloading the realtek Audio Driver for my Microphone to sound much better. My computer instantly crashed when opening it some how I dont know. As I try to boot my computer gets into a loop and puts me straight into startup repair and gives me the SrtTrail error. I have tried the bootrec commands, I tried to recover, Factory reset and everything! only thing I thought that fixed it was to reinstall windows . I did just that back cleaning both of my drives with DiskPart in cmd and Did a clean install of windows on my harddrives. Next thing I know I am downloading my drivers thinking all is fine until I reset my computer and we were back at square one So at this point I am very frustrated and I just want to play My favorite game is there anything that can help me.

18mth old pc. Wont boot. But is temporamental. Sometimes will turn on, make noise, and the dvd drive can open. Other times wont even power up or even the odd time i get to the american trends black screen with some commands like f2 for SETUP , f8 bb popup. Also noticed it said checksum bad

My girlfriends pc this is. It happened when she was using farmville. Got the bsod. PC was working really amazingly beforehand like brand new. Very little software, on it, and no music or movie downloads. No file sharing. Satisfactory AVG etc

A:Newbie bsod. Wont boot, wont even turn on most times, but does sometimes

If I leave it alone for a few hrs, the system might seem like its going to work, the on switch goes blue lit, theres the normal beep it makes, the three lights on the keyboard flash, then i get packard bell screen for split second which gives me options like enter BIOS, but that scares me. Then it will go straight to the American Trends page i explained earlier and wont go further

Then if you switch power off again and see what happens, it may not even power up next time, no blue lit on, a split second of fan noise then nada. Or it may have nothing happen except you can hear the fan running and the dvd drive can open

Of course she cant find her vista disc!!! We will find it 2moro somewhere though. There is no important data on the pc so if it was possible to reinstall vista I would just leave it in to get fixed. I got quoted 25 pounds.

Can anyone help me out or have any clue. My brother had a problem last month with a firefox update which gave him similair trouble. But lucky for him, it resolved itself after 3 days of turning it on/off and hoping for the best

HP Pavilion 6355 has the following issues:

1) Computer will not shut down by holding in power button. It must be "unplugged from outlet."

2) When power cord plugged in the light sequence on the tower reads, from left to right, yellow, green.

3) A Thumping sound comes from speakers, not the typical Bios Beeps.

4) Monitor is blank, yellow light indicator on.

5) Cannot open CD Drive, even manually.

This computer belongs to a friend of mine whose daughter uses it for High School work. She was working on it one day, received an error message, no, no, writing it down would be to easy , so she shut down using start-shutdown, and left for school. When she came back and resumed her work she was met with the above scenario.

Any ideas as to the most expeditious way to get to root of issue.

Hi, First, try a Hard Reset as follows. Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for a full minute.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and see if the notebook will start. If it still doesn't start, is there a sequence to the 'blinks' that you can match to the table below?  Regards, DP-K?

not an urgent problem, but hoping someone can help me out I know this is an older model (bought more than 10 years ago!!) but we use it as a backup when our less-than adequately -built newer pavilion fails. The problem is that the 752n will not power on. I have followed all the steps listed on the troubleshooting page http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph06788but no luck. The green light IS ON on the back, so I don't think the power supply is shot.  I did change the little battery in hopes that that was the problem (It was over 10 years old after all lol)  but that didn't help either. Any other advice?

Hi, since i upgraded my laptop to windows 10 (when it came out) my computer will not turn off fully. It works completely fine apart from when i try to shut it down, when it seems to do so but the power button stays lit and you can still the fan spinning. Like i said everything else on it works up until this very last step. The only way to turn it off is to hold down the power button but ive always been told this is bad for my computer. Thanks!

Safe Mode
If possible try tapping the F8 key when you press the power button.
Computer Repair should be the first on the list.

I would not use - Directory Service Repair Mode. I had to use Computer Repair
after starting it. I had trouble getting to Computer Repair.

Repair Disc
Start - Control Panel - Backup and Restore - at the left top corner -
Create a System Repair Disc - It may say DVD but a CD works OK
With the Repair Disc in the tray, Restart your computer and be ready
to press any key when asked.
If it doesn't find and fix right off than click next and follow directions
from the list that should come up.

Have you made changes on your computer that caused the blue screen ?

Error checking comes with your computer.
Using the arrow keys go to Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
Press Enter
New Screen - Administrator cmd.exe (That's the name in the left top corner)
Type - chkdsk /r
Don't forget the space between k and r
Press the Enter Key
Type - y - Enter

ress the Power Button to turn your computer off.
The next time you turn your computer on chkdsk /r will run.
Don't press any key are chkdsk /r will be cancelled.
5 Stages and number 4 and 5 take a long time to run.
If using this Error Checking on a laptop than use an Electrical outlet (adapter)
chkdsk /r took 1 hour and 38 minutes to run on my pc.

The green light is on in back. I went through this about a year ago. I unplugged the power cord for 30 seconds. Pressed the soft button, then plugged it back up and it worked after being unplugged for over 4 years. Yesterday we had a power outage and this morning I repeated the steps. The green light is on in back , etc...no power this time. Any help?
