Accidentally deleted important drive software.. can't figure out how to recover? Help

Q: Accidentally deleted important drive software.. can't figure out how to recover? Help

I've signed up to this site just for this issue which I've had for over a year. Here are the details:

Samsung laptop RF511
While I was cleaning out all the extra programs the laptop came with, I accidentally deleted something that was crucial for my disk reader. Whenever I pop in any data disk or movie, the computer struggles for a few minutes then gives up, as if nothing has been inserted. Oddly enough... I don't believe this always happens with music CDs. The computer also hasn't be able to let me burn anything on a blank disk. I often receive the "Please insert a blank disk" message, when one is already inserted.

This is getting really frustrating since I have a lot of data to backup and absolutely need help! I'm not a programmer and would need thorough explanation and a walk-through for this please.

I went to the Samsung website and looked at what might be missing (had no idea what I was doing...) I downloaded something called the BIOS updater, which did nothing unfortunately.

Please let me know if something sounds familiar and how I might be able to replace this bloody program I foolishly deleted!
Thanks a million.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Now this is just a guess that may save you a full re-install.
Install a CD/DVD burning program and it may correct the fault. Also Windows builtin burning is not the cleverest of tools.
Here are a few suggestions:

I don't think I was clear enough in my explanation.... I don't require a program to copy/read/burn. The problem is the laptop itself. It does not recognize any disk I inset. Nothing pops up on my E: drive....

Hi.
I'm not sure this is the right forum to post this, if not let me know.

The Problem: I accidentally deleted some important data from a hard drive. I desperately want to rescue at least some of it. It is a folder containing a large number of digital photos.

This is what I've done:
1. accidentally deleted files
2. deleted the three partitions that were on the drive and made the drive into one partition
3. formatted the drive using Windows Disk Management tool in Administrative Tools (Windows XP). I used the "Quick Format" option rather than the "Full Format". The file system of the drive (also before formatting) is: NTFS
4. Currently there is new data on the drive. I'm using it as a backup drive now.

This all happened a few days ago. Only now I have realized the goof up.

Please, if there is any way you know of that I might best be able to salvage any of the lost data, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks!

In my feeble attempt to remove the annoying wgatray.exe, I accidentally deleted an important file which prevents me from logging into Windows. The problem is, I don't know which file(s).

When I started Windows, the usual blue welcome screen didn't appear, instead a box to input my username and password popped up. After inputting, my background picture appeared, along with the usual Windows startup tune. However, after a few seconds, before even loading anything, Windows started to shut down, along with the familiar 'saving your settings' pop-up box.

I've just installed another Windows in order to create this post. I just need to know which file(s) are needed for me to start up my original Windows. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

A:Help! accidentally deleted important file

DO NOT USE THE COMPUTER THE FILE WAS ON. Use another comp to follow this up if you can.

How did you delete it ; from Windows Explorer? Did you delete it, or just send it to the Recycle Bin? If you sent it to the Bin, it'll still be there, you can just restore it from there (assuming your system isn't set up to ignore the Bin). If you deleted it w/out sending it to the Bin, even that doesn't wipe it from your HD, it just marks it as "can be overwritten" so that as your comp "does stuff" over time, it'll start to go. If it's been marked for overwriting, you may need to take on (& pay for) a data recovery firm.

Here's my situation after running a memory test my PC restarted and then went to Chkdsk. After scanning in Stage 1, It scanned the index files if I can remember and then it showed that "something"explorer.dll is unindexed. Chkdsk tried to find the host but it didn't find it and it was deleted. After that my PC restarted and then on log-on screen during "Welcome" a popup appeared saying "something"explorer.dll is missing and after "Welcome" its was all black. I tried to run taskmanager and then manually started explorer.exe but "something"explorer.dll is missing. I system restore my PC and it worked properly explorer.exe is working fine now. Its ok now that its works normally now but what will I do to prevent Chkdsk deleting that .dll file. I don't have a recovery disk. I just made a terrible mistake!

I've recently set up a desktop PC after 2 years without one.

Anyway, I've been backing up all my old 3.5 Inch HD's to newer and larger drives.

I just got finished moving a heap of files to a new drive, and when done, accidentally deleted the partition of the new drive and was just about to format it thinking it was the old empty drive when I realised what I had done...

So my question is, is it possible to recover a deleted partition? I'm guessing all the information is still on the drive as I haven't actually formatted it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

A:How can I recover an accidentally deleted HD partition?

Yes.

Undelete it.

Partition recovery function on any number of partition tools will do that.

Partition wizard free is popular.

Best done from a boot disc here: Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.

Is there any way to recover the files and partition ? I tried easeus and it recovered the partition but with empty contents.

Please help me as my all work is stored on D drive and I am in wierd situation & totally scared about how do I explain this situation to my boss.

Hope someone will help me out...

Do not format the disk.
this would make your task more difficult or even impossible.

There are free partition recovery tools available on the net.

Question the deletion, was it your operating system or are you still able to boot into Windows. I have never been in this position but someone will post some software for you. Just don't muddle the disk any further.

If you are able to boot into Windows this link will give you an idea of what you are looking for. Hang on because I know some forum members have done this will be suggesting more software.

My girlfriend had downloaded a virus and I was in the process of getting rid of it and when I wasn't home she went in and didn't realize I was working on it and tried to find what she downloaded and get rid of it, so she started deleting files she thought might be the problem and ended up deleting files needed for windows xp. After she did this we can no longer install any kind of software. Every time I turn the laptop on a message comes up saying it is preparing to install(but it doesn't say what) and then an error message pops up saying it can't install. I have to hit cancel like 20 times to get it to go away or else it will just keep trying over and over. The sam thing happens when ever I try to download or install any kind of software or when I try to update acrobat or any similar programs. I also can't open certain programs.
How do I indentify what program is missing and how do I replace it?

Hey Guys,

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. The end result is I need to recover the Documents and Settings folder on my HDD. Here is the scenario:

About two weeks ago, I came home to a dead computer. The fans were on in the case, but the monitor was off. Every time I rebooted, the same happened. I finally had to send my motherboard and CPU in. Intel sent me a warranty replacement Dual Core 2 2.4Ghz processor and ASUS sent me a new motherboard. However, it was not the original. It was the same type of board but the premium model (P5N32-SLI Premium, original was Deluxe) as they didn’t have mine in stock.

While I waited for the new components to arrive, I was able to hook up my old hard drive to my brother’s computer. The hard drive is a SATA Western Digital 250GB. I was able to grab a few files off but didn’t need any others at the time. Plus, the hard drive seemed to working fine so I had no reason to think it would be a problem to get files off in the future.

When I finally got the components back, I hooked everything up. The computer posted with no problem so I went through and configured the BIOS to my liking. Upon reboot, I received an error along the lines of “No Operating System” found. I rebooted but the same occurred. I then put in my Windows XP Pro CD thinking that maybe the new motherboard was giving Windows a problem. When I went through to choose the “R” Repair option (NOT Recovery Console), it should ask me which Windows installation I wou... Read more

I need to to recover several hundred deleted messages in OE6 on a co-worker's computer (running Windows XP Pro). The messages have been permanently deleted but the Deleted folder does not appear to have been compacted. When I checked the Deleted items folder, it only showed about 5 recent e-mail messages. I located the Deleted items DBX file and it was over 450 MB in size. I have made a copy of the DBX file just in case the person decides to click "Yes" when OE asks if they want to compact folders.

A Google search finds a lot of paid applications and many offer a free demo mode of the program. Rather than try a bunch of free demos to decide which one to purchase, I would like to find out if anyone here can recommend any particular program. The person deleted whole folders of messages and it would be a big plus if the software could also recover the folder structure.

I then downloaded PC Inspector File Recovery and ran it overnight; it found 16000+ files, but all of them are named cluster1013651.* and so forth, and all of them appear to be corrupted. Windows seems to know what type of file each is, as their extensions are intact, but they will not open properly. Another weird issue is that the vast majority of files are .xls, but I don't use Excel.

Is there some utility that can repair the drive so that Windows detects it again? All the data is still there, the drive was never formatted or written to in any way.

As title statesI did not have any backup, my laptop model is Y50-70. Is there any way for me to recover the drive? or will the deletion of it affect anything at all?

A:Accidentally deleted "D: LENOVO" drive

If its not used for system files you may be ok. But you should always have an image backup of the entire HD. Its a given in this day and age.PS its no accident as its not that easy to do accidentally. System_drv is normally the boot.If you run diskmanager it will show all the partitions. you have and which is bootable.

How can I restore my D: drive recovery contents? I accidentally deleted the contents since it had become over capacity and was in the red-colored status continually.

A:Accidentally deleted my recovery drive contents.

You can't. Recovery partitions are generally full and that is not a problem. It won't cause you any problems that you deleted it but you just won't be able to restore your computer back to factory state without ordering a set of recovery discs from HP.

Misread the drive label and deleted the partition on an USB external 80GB SATA drive. Nothing else has been done to the drive.

I did this when using Macrium Reflect Rescue disc.

I know I've seen mention of a program that can recover the partition table but I've not found it yet.

I tried EASUS Data Recovery Wizard but that didn't do it. I thought maybe Paragon had something but I've not had any luck so far. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I accidentally deleted the volume on my 3rd hard drive and now my Windows Vista PC won't even recognize the drive. How can I fix this?

The problem started when I put my old Barracuda 160 gig drive in a usb external case and couldn't get it to work until I put the jumpers on 7-8. The problem was, it was asking me to format the drive which was full of files which I wanted to retrieve. Through a series of now obvious mistakes, I first shrunk the volume backwards, I meant to shrink only 50 MB but deleted all but 50 MB and then stupidly deleted the entire volume.

What I need now is to at least be able to have my PC recognize the drive again and to be able to restore the full volume but would ideally like to still be able to retrieve the data, if that's even possible at this point. Also, why does, or did my computer only recognize this drive in the 7-8 jumper configuration? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony

Ok so this is what happened. Everyday my windows vista does an automatic files backup. It worked fine until one day a thing popped up during the backup and it said my backup failed because my drive D was full. So I came on here and someone said it was safe to delete all the files on my drive D, so I did. The files still wont work now because there is no folder for the backup files to go into. I tried doing the backup to another Drive, like drive C, but it wont give me that option. How can I recover my folders in Drive d?? Which ones were there?? This was about a month ago so I dont think I can recover them. I need to backup my files but there is an error everytime.

Apparently, as I was trying to create more space on my hard drive, I accidentally deleted or "corrupted" the device drivers for my Hitachi LG DVD-ROM drive as well as my Samsung CDRW/DVD drive. I've tried downloading firmware for both, but consistently see this in the Device Manager: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both devices, also tried a System Restore. So far nothing has worked. Please help as I am pulling out every strand of my hair.

Ok so my brother and I share a computer and he uses his own drive on my computer and decided to delete everything on that drive file by file. I use the main drive on the computer but he must of deleted something very important on that drive because now every time I try to install certain programs just doesn't work.
For example when I try to download Steam it says another installation is running.
Also "Error1336 there was an error creating a temporary file that is needed to complete this installation"
I have been googling this problem for months but I couldn't find a good solution. any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Some Important files were deleted on my Disc Drive, Now Installation Problems

Go to Start/Search and type CMD Right click the CMD icon in the search results and Run As Administrator. In Elevated Command Prompt type SFC/ scannow and press enter. This will replace any missing files.

I had to do a fresh install on my primary due to explorer crash issues. I have a secondary drive which was my backup for all of my pictures and music. During the reinstall of Windows 7 64bit Professional I accidentally deleted the 129mb System Reserve on the second hard drive thinking it was for thge primary drive. Now explorer does not show the secondary hard drive, although it shows up in Disk Management. Is there any way to restore or recreate that System Reserve section without having to refomat the entire hard drive and loose all of my data??

A:Accidentally deleted 129mb System Reserve on second hard drive

Hello Borne, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might be able to pick up at step 7 in OPTION FOUR of the tutorial below to hopefully restore the System Reserve partition. Just do not format or delete it again. If you do, you may not be able to restore it.

Convert a Dynamic Disk to a Basic Disk

Hope this helps,
Shawn
