Google redirecting, outlook not working, internet connection dropped

Q: Google redirecting, outlook not working, internet connection dropped

Our POS computer at work has been acting weird lately. Google searches redirect to advertisements so the links to to be selected twice to get them to work. Microsoft Outlook will no longer connect at all. I tried removing the profile and remake it because I wasnt sure what was going on and now it cant even connect to the microsoft exchange server. The internet connection randomly drops from the computer and needs to be restarted to re-establish the connection. I have ran malwarebytes and was unable to find anything and I have ran combo fix as well.

combo fix found 2 infections but the problem still persists. I am attaching the combofix log as well as the DDS and GMER logs.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.

I lose my internet connection, usually after a period of inactivity (maybe an hour or longer) BUT - it only affects my browsers. I can still be connected in other programs such as MIRC or other non browser based programs. I have to reboot my system to reconnect my browser.
I have Comcast Cable (for about 6 months now). I used to have PacBell DSL and don't remember having this problem.
I have a Netgear wireless router, but I use 2 main computers that are both directly connected to the router. Both my systems are Pentium 4 and I am running WinXP Home edition on both of them. I have switched to Firefox recently: same problem persists with IE and with Firefox.

I have two WinXP-pro SR-3 machines on a LAN where they're normally linked to one another and the Internet via a D-Link DI-524 router. It works fine nearly always, but on occasion the LAN connection fails and the two machines cannot see one another, BUT they both can still access the Internet. By "see one another" I mean that Machine A can no longer print to the printer connected to Machine B, and Machine B cannot read the contents of shared directories on Machine A. NEARLY EVERY TIME when this happens, the background color of the start bar changes from Microsoft blue to a grey. Connection repair applications don't help. [Start|Settings|Network-Connections] .

Any ideas what causes this problem, and on how torecover without restarting the machine.

How are you accessing the network share? By IP address or hostname? Better assign static IPs to your machines.

Hi all,
I am new to the forum so please forgive me if I am asking a redundant question. My internet connection via Embarq has been dropping offline quite a bit lately, and I think it is because my IP address is being used by non-subscribers from overseas. I called the ISP and told them about my connection dropping pretty much whenever I try to download anything and their simplistic answer was to release/renew my IP address. They didn't seem to care that their bandwidth (the very bandwidth I am paying for) and their IP's are being used by someone other than paid subscribers. Whenever I lose my connection I run a traceroute and attempt to ping my gateway and it displays various names from "akamai.net" no matter what URL or IP I am pinging. I had this problem about a month ago and a website from Taiwan was coming up every time I pinged something (I know this because I typed in the address in Internet Explorer and a foreign site came up and the URL had .tw for the country domain). I am thinking of switching ISP's asap since they don't seem to care that my connection is constantly down and they are seemingly being hacked. Please help and let me know if there is something I can do on my end to stop this (short of going with Time Warner). Thanks alot!

I've been searching for a while to solve this but it seems nobody has this problem. First of all hello to everyone on the board as I have only just registered.

I am in need of some help as a very weird thing has happened to my comp.
It happened when I was installing edonkey. I checked the express option by mistake which bundles a load of spyware onto the pc. So I ran ad-aware and removed all the spyware.
I also have zonealarm pro and this usually detects two instances of generic host process (svchost.exe and spoolsv.exe both of which I had previously granted access to the internet). Now they do not appear to be loading at all as zonealarm does not detect them anymore, so I cannot connect to the internet.
Also my windows folder seems to have to disappeared(?). If I navigate through "my computer" it is not there, yet if I try through windows explorer, it is.

AVG has not thrown up any virus alerts (besides I am very careful in what I download) so what can it be?

Any help much appreciated.

A:XP Pro Internet Connection Dropped

See if you can restore the entries removed by ad-aware, and check if you can connect again. Was it a recent version of adaware?

Hello,

This is my first post so thanks to all in advance. I have a home network with wired pc's and wireless laptops.

My problem is this: when my laptop logs on to the network, all of my wired pc's lose internet connection momentarily and the connection is re-established quickly (I'd say less than a minute.) This is a real issue as we are a gaming family (WoW, Diablo and Call of Duty) and our connections get interrupted.

I've tried disabling all security (including wireless) and I've also tried giving it a static IP.

Once the laptop is logged is all is well but it is a real pain to have to wait for everyone to get finish their game before we can log the laptop on.

Any suggestions?

Hello. Lately, I have been experiencing dropped internet connectivity. I have an Arris Modem connected to a Netgear Router that supplies our wifi. My modem has started rebooting itself, but not all the lights on the modem are lit. The Battery Light will go on, the DS (Downstream) will also go on, and then the US (Upstream) light will go solid, then begin to flash. No amount of hard-resets has fixed this problem, and I believe my router has no role in this problem. Thanks in advance.

My parents have a fairly new computer from Dell running (specs below), unfortunately, Visat Home Premium. They have a cable broadband connection that worked well with 98. I set up their new computer for them, got the connection up and running back in Sept. no problems. Starting first of Dec., the connection problems have arose. The main proble is that when ever IE 7 is started, the page takes for ever to load, if it will load even at all. Some sites works just fine and load immediately (i.e tsp.com) while others take forever if even load at all (microsoft.com, dogpile.com). I have reset the modem several times, restarted Vista several times, and still continue to have the same problem. have contacted the ISP several times and each time they say that there is now problems on their end, have me go through and reset modem each time. My parents are now ready to contact Dell and ask for a free downgrade to XP if I can't get this fixed. Now having new problem. When page loads and I attempt to scroll down to read the rest of the page, the page "smears" and I cannot read anything. Don't know if that will be related to anything or not, but I thought I would throw that in. Any help would be great!

As soon as it powers back up, the internet is fine. Any ideas please? I'm running Vista Home Premium.

I get the world globe on my tool bar but as soon as I try to connect to the internet is disappears. I turned off all antivirus and firewall.
I think I have a windows setting that is incorrect. I tried connecting this new modem without the router. when it is up I have the following

By the toolbar westell 6100G local and internet connected

under network and file sharing screen

IPv4 connectivity Internet
IPv6 connectivity Limited
Media State: Enabled
Duration: The time connected and progressing
Speed: 100.0 Mbps

Connect using NvidiaN Force Networking Controller
Properties
This connection uses the following
All are checked off

After I try to connect I just connect the old modem westell 2200 and netgear router and they connect no problem other than it drops out every so often sometimes 10 times a day. I turn-off the modem power down the router, start-the modem back up and when I have all green lights power up the router and it connects.

I have a dial-up Internet connection and use Windows XP Home Edition, with SP2. I am using a Dell E310 computer. Although I have my Internet connection set to never disconnect when idle, if I am idle for about five minutes, my connection is dropped anyway. I do not have a screensaver and I do not have any static on my telephone line. All connections are secure. I called my Internet service provider and they said they have not been dropping the connection. This disconnection is upsetting especially if I am reading something lengthy on the Internet or am writing a long e-mail. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to prevent it? Thank you for your replies.

A:My Internet Connection Is Dropped When Idle

Do you have more than 1 account on your computer?, What is the time limit set on your screensaver, is it on when you go AWOL for that time?

I do remind you it is DIAL UP so there might be issues with it just for that reason, However, Im not rushing to judgement

I'm trying to figure out why my cable internet connection gets dropped after about an hour.
I end up having to re-boot in order to get the connection back. IT's frustrating.

I've run ipconfig /all--and admittedly, I don't understand everything it's telling me--but one thing in the report catches my eye.

IN the section about my eternet adapter (NETGEAR FA310TX FAst Ethernet PCI Adapter), The last two lines say "Lease Obtained" with the exact time, and "Lease expires" with a time indicated that's an hour later.

The question: Does this mean that my cable Internet provider is dropping my connection after an hour? This only started happening about two months ago. When I call tech support, I can't get the same answer twice. ONe person told me it must be my firewall and to turn it off (Oh no! I don't want to do that!) Another said I must have some corrupt files.

ACtually, any help in diagnosing this problem would be much appreciated.

Hello there I have been looking for a solution on this for sometime now.

Here's my problem I have a desktop pc runnings Vista Ultimate that connects wirelessly to a Netgear WGT624 router via a USB Netgear WN111v2. The router is then connected to a ntl:home 120 modem. The connection is managed via the latest Netgear Smart Wizard software.

The internet connection seems to drop a number of times throughout the day. When I check as to where the problems lies it seems to be with the router as my wireless connection still picks it up (wireless connections says the strength is between 80% and 90%). I have to turn the router off (usually) to resolve the problem but it'll happen again. It seems to do it more often when I have a number of internet windows open.

I also have another desktop connected via Ethernet cable to the router and this also loses the connection when the wireless goes. I have tried a number of things that I have found on the internet for example using Windows to manage the wireless connection and also turning off the security settings on the router.

Can anyone help me out with this very annoying problem, if you need anything else just let me know. Thank you in advance for any help provided, I am beginning to think I may just connect it with a cable (a long cable)

I have a Dell Latitude d810 laptop that has XP Professional and an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG driver. It has been working fine for nearly 3 years. Recently I changed it from a domain to a workgroup and now the internet connection drops after about 5 - 10 minutes.

When I say "drops", I am referring to the browser can no longer display the webpage. The internet connection still shows to be "Excellent". I even tried pinging www.google.com and it can still ping the website but the browser just stops working. I have tried Firefox and IE.

I updated the DNS to use the default primary DNS suffix. The only way to get the browser to re-establish a connection is by rebooting the laptop.

I have 2 other laptops that work without any issues (one with Vista and one with XP). The router still shows the connection to the laptop as active. Below are my results from the ping test and ipconfig. Any ideas?

Hi!

I just got a brand new Windows 8 laptop:
Samsung ATIV Book 8 15.6" TouchScreen Laptop 8GB Memory 1TB Hard Drive NP880Z5E-X01UB - Best Buy

My computer will constantly connect with my router with full internet connection, then drop it periodically. The connection is getting dropped as fast as every 2 minutes. It goes from full internet to "limited", and I can not connect to anything. If I disconnect and reconnect, it works again, but only for about another 2 minutes before failing. When troubleshooting through Windows, it fixes the problem, but again, disconnects in 2 minutes.

I have tried wireless tethering from my phone, and I have no problems at all. So something between my computer and router seems wrong.

My roommate also just got a brand new ASUS Windows 8 computer and is having no problem with our router. I have 4 other housemates (6 total people) connected to my router (all Windows 7), and none of them have problems either

What do you guys think the problem is? I have a kind of old Linksys WRTS46 router (seems to only have WPA, not WPA 2). I am right next to the router I did not have this problem with my old Windows 7 laptop. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

A:Wireless internet connection getting dropped constantly!

Not my area of expertise but two things you can try:

1. Switch to a high performance power plan to see if that fixes your issue.
2. Check you wifi adapter in device manager (power management tab) and make sure the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is NOT checked. If neither work, then just put em' back to where they were and wait for the gurus. Good luck.

I have been looking into why my internet connection seems to be dropped after 10 minutes (whether I use the internet or not) right after it is booted up and can't seem to figure it out. I can reboot my computer and have the internet again for another 10 minutes etc. It is similar to the ZoneAlarm issue that I've seen mentioned on the website, however I do not have ZoneAlarm on my computer.

It is not a router or ISP provider issue I have other computer connected to the same network and they are fine. Also this laptop USED to be able to work fine for hours on the internet. I believe I deleted something I shouldn't have or downloaded software that conflicts.

This problem started right after I deleted a virus that infected my computer through a torrent I just downloaded.

Here is what I did:
I immediately closed all programs and ran SuperAntiSpyware and deleted the viruses.
I restarted my computer as directed by the SuperAntiSpyware program.
After the restart, I rescanned with both Malwarebyte's Anti Malware and SuperAntiSpyware.

Seeing as the results came out clean, I opened Skype and I tried to run my computer game, "League of Legends." Here is where it started getting weird. My Skype is working perfectly and I am talking to people as I type this but my League of Legends, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer all don't work.

Google Chrome had this error: Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.

I resetted my proxies and deleted my cookies. I also rescanned using the same programs. Still nothing.

Please Help and Thanks.

A:Google Chrome and IE don't work but Fire Fox does. Internet Connection is also working.

If you recently had a malware infection, then your lan proxy server settings could be mixed up:

-for internet explorer, go to tools, Internet options; Connections tab; LAN Settings; and make sure that the "Automatically Detect Settings" box is checked and everything else is not.

-for Google Chrome press the tools button (the wrench in the top right corner) and scroll down to "Options"; go to the Under the Hood tab and scroll down and click "Change Proxy Settings"; click on LAN settings in the bottom right corner; and make sure that the only box checked is the "Automatically Detect Settings" one

Also, your winsocket settings may be mixed up.
Click start and type "cmd" in the search bar.
Right click on cmd and select "Run as Administrator"
If a message box pops up, click "Continue" or enter the correct administrative password (probably the one you use to login).
After cmd opens, enter "netsh winsock reset" and press enter. then reboot.
hopefully one of these solutions helps!

I have two Windows 7 computers and one XP machine on a wireless network. Two machines can see the others but one running Windows 7 can't see the other two. While trying to find out why, I noticed that whenever trying to view the network status on the problem machine, it knocks out the internet for everything. The computer that is causing trouble is wired directly to the router. Help?

I have a problem that I have been racking my brain over for the last few weeks.
I have 4 computers networked in my house for internet sharing. My main computer is hard wired to my router (wrt54g).
My problem is, the computer that is hard wired will lose internet connection but it will still show I am connected. I can jump on any of the other computer that are connected with a wireless connection and I can surf to my heart's content. I can reboot the problem computer and it will re-establish internet connection, but only for a little while.
Any ideas? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If any additional information is needed I will be more than happy to provide it.

A:Solved: Problems with dropped internet connection on hard wired computer but not on w

Let's see the following from the computer after it loses it's connection.
Try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

NOTE: For the items below in red surrounded with < >, see comments below for the actual information content, they are value substitutions from the previous command output!

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING <computer_IP_address>

PING <default_gateway_address>

PING <dns_servers>

PING 206.190.60.37

PING yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

<computer_IP_address> - The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<default_gateway_address> - The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

<dns_servers> - The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Hi,
I dropped my laptop (specs in profile) the other day and now it's acting very strangely. When I start it up, it goes to a black screen that says PBR 2... Done and then boots up normally.. However once it is finished booting it absolutley will not run at all with all the normal programs running in the background. I disabled all but the Microsoft Services and all the startup items and it runs semi-normally.. Meaning that most programs work but not all of them, Microsoft Word doesn't want to open, the computer freezes when I try to open an mp3 file with Winamp, and AIM 6.1 won't sign on.. AIM 5.9 signs on and works but AIM 6.1 says "a connect error occurred" and won't sign me on..

Also, when AIM 5.9 is signed on, it disconnects randomly.. When I try to stream some online content it is interrupted, and never goes more than 2 minutes without getting messed up. I have cable internet and the modem/wireless router is functioning, all lights are on and i've power cycled them both several times.

Here is the kicker: When I run it in safe mode with networking, AIM 6.1 signs on and stays connected, it stayed connected all through last night without once signing off.. Obviously though I can't continuously just run it in safe mode, I have no sound and other features are disabled.. I'm hoping someone can tell me what is going on with this thing and help me get back on track.. I don't understand why it all works in safe mode and not i... Read more

Hello,

I have been experiencing intermittent issues with Google (I use Firefox and run Windows 7). When I try to access gmail I receive an "untrusted connection" warning. Sometimes when I click on a link I found through Google I am redirected to a completely unrelated website. Google also makes me type in one of those CAPTCHA security codes before it will allow me to use its search function. MalwareBytes has not detected anything. I am not sure how serious this is so I thought I would ask before attempting to post logs.

Thank you,

Hi all, been dealing with this problem for several days now and have used the usual suspects regarding anti-virus software from reputable sites, which has turned up nothing.  The gist of it is that random websites are unresponsive and then occasionally I'm redirected to strange Google homepages with (fake looking) ads.  This is happening across browsers and computers on the home network in my family's house, so I suspect it is some kind of network software that's been hit.  I will start on my computer and use the same process on all of them if necessary and advised.  For example, when I type "eftps.gov" into the address bar, instead of going to the website, it sends me to Google with "http://eftps.gov/" filled into the search box an ad for the NBA underneath it that has a clickable "like" button (scared to check if it's legit or not, I assume it is not).  When I Google search "eftps" and go to the site, I get an error that the page is not available.  I've attached a picture of the redirect.  Previously, when I typed in espn.com, it would send me to the same page (but with espn.com in the address bar) but with bogus looking ads underneath the search advertising Louis Vuitton bags.  It now loads normally.   I noticed in the addition.txt log that there are strange addresses under the host section that I had been advised on a Google board to clear out and now they're back.
Here is the log requested:

Hi. My Firefox browser has had some issues with Google links redirecting back to Google sometimes. Ocassionally I would get a strange site pop up while entering my Yahoo Mail account as well. Both were inconsistent enough that it was a few days before I took action. Finally I did a scan with MBAM which restarted my computer. After restart MSE was not working (likely it had been compromised before, but this was the first I'd seen of it). Google still redirects, but now it's more malicious. I could not access the Microsoft site, and trying to find MSE I got a link to CNET which linked to a virus/trojan/hacker (which I did not install...had a hunch something was weird). I also cannot turn on the Windows Firewall (got an error "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings."). Here are the logs you request:

I must be infected. A few days ago my browsers all started redirecting from google, and now they won't go anywhere online at all. They say the page may be temporarily disabled or I'm not online. However, my messaging programs and other things that use the Internet work. I just can't use browsers. I ran a few programs (Adaware, malwarebytes antimalware, superantispyware, and something else I think. Most of the registry errors and slowness seemed to have been fixed, but there are a couple of errors that come up when I start up, and I still can't use my browsers to look at the world wide web.

Think I'm infected? What should I do?

When I use search engines it redirects me to a website I did not intend to visit. This redirect occurs in Firefox,Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer. Last week I had issues with Malware and the computer crashed. I was forced to reformat. I have ran scans with Malwarebytes and McAfee, but all threats have been eliminated while the issues still exists.

I have a 64-bit version of Windows so I was unable to run GMER.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. i have spent many hours the last several days in trying to fix the issue.

My partners pc has been off for about 12 months (we moved house and I didn't have the time to set it up) and when I turned it on and updated ad-aware and avg a bunch of stuff poped up and things seemed to be ok but since then I have noticed that google seaches are being "redirected" to random places and the user profiles weren't working (you would get a black desktop and no icons or anything)... so we deleted them...Also a popup up window keeps coming up saying " Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed - A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a soultion is avaliable."Apparently last time my partner was on it there were issues and things weren't working quite right - I have tried windows restore but they only go back to last week... Hello,
First may I say I was so happy to find a forum such as this exists!
Second, recently I have been experiencing a few problems: 1.) Google Chrome stopped working suddenly. I at first thought it was a network problem, then tried IE, and it started working. 2.) As soon as I started using IE, I experienced random redirects to other webpages from Google search links. At this point, I knew I had a virus. 3.) When I tried to open Ad-Aware and Spybot, neither would open. Here is my HijackThis log:

I use Windows 7.Info: For some time I have noticed that my Google links redirect me to AD sites (such as STOPzilla) and my efforts to stop whatever malware this is have failed. Any anti-spyware I try to use fails. IE: Spybot S&D won't open, Malwarebytes glitches, Bit Defender and Advanced System Protector freeze after a few minutes. Also, rKill failed to run. (It asked me what program I would like to open it with. Tried .exe, .scr, and .pif files to no avail. eXplorer did not work either.) Tried to follow the Prep. Guide and DDS would not run either (the black window appears only for a second). Welcome to the BleepingComputer Forums. Since it has been a few days since you scanned your computer with HijackThis, we will need a new HijackThis log. If you have not already downloaded Random's System Information Tool (RSIT), please download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random which includes a HijackThis log and save it to your desktop. If you have RSIT already on your computer, please run it again. Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT. Click Continue at the disclaimer screen. Please post the contents of log.txt. Thank you for your patience. Please see Preparation Guide for use before posting about your potential Malware problem. If you have already posted this log at another forum or if you decide to seek help at another forum, please let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and taking the time of two volunteer helpers means that someone else may not be helped. Please post your HijackThis log as a reply to this thread and not as an attachment. I am always leery of opening attachments so I always request that HijackThis logs are to be posted as a reply to the thread. I do not think that you are attaching anything scary but others may do so. While we are working on your HijackThis log, please: Reply to this thread; do not start another! Do not make any changes on your computer during the cleaning process or download/add programs on your computer unless instructed to do so. Do not run any other tool until ... Read more

Please help!My boyfriend's computer started having this problem, and I have stepped in to try to fix it, so please forgive me if my information is not complete. He started getting popups from "XP Internet Security 2011, stating that the Current PC State is Infected". We've had this malware popup problem before and I think we ended up downloading PC Doctor or something like that. This was almost a year ago. We are being perpetually redirected when using Firefox and Google. My boyfriend paid some online company $45 for trojan malware removal, but apparently nothing happened and it disappeared into cyber space. Hey all,

Having an issue with my computer. Malware is blocking access to the internet for all my programs OTHER than internet explorer (ie. I cannot run any updates for any of my anti-malware or anti-virus programs). When I run internet explorer, it still goes to msn.ca properly but when I run a search on google, the results page looks slightly different than a regular google results page the fonts are bigger and page itself is slightly wider. When I click on a link it always redirects me to a different page and pop-ups often come up.

Ive run the two below anti-malware programs below both in regular and safe mode to no avail. To reiterate
super antispyware
