ThinkCentre M700: Ethernet Network Driver - Server 2012 & 2019 - Intel I219-LM

Q: ThinkCentre M700: Ethernet Network Driver - Server 2012 & 2019 - Intel I219-LM

Hi,

We've recently installed Server 2012 on a new Lenovo ThinkCentre M700 and unfortunately it's unable to pick up the network adapter. We tried the Windows 8.1 versions of the network drivers from the Lenovo site (as they share the same kernel) but they didn't work.

Have also tried downloading the server 2012 versions of the specific drivers direct from Intel's website.

Has anyone had any luck finding a server 2012 network driver for this machine?

Thanks

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello I just received my new Windows 10 P70 in the mail and am running into a wired ethernet connection problem. I followed the steps here to update the drivers for the system's Intel Ethernet Connection I219-V, but it doesn't seem to help:https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/nz1rw01w.txt Next I tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, and the attached Windows10-P70-ipconfigOutput.txt file shows the output (ipconfig /all at the top). The final failing message is:An error occurred while renewing interface Ethernet : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. Next I tried these:netsh int ip resetnetsh winsock reset catalog...and upon reboot, same problem, no help, see Windows10-P70-netshOutput.txt with the access denied failure. Found something that recommended a registry key permission change to Full Control, which makes the int ip reset command not report a failure, but upon reboot it still leaves me with nothing. I've got a setup with no wireless router, I'm using a switch. I have two other computers, one Windows 8.1 one Windows 10, that both simultaneously connect to the modem through the switch fine. Windows10-Asus-WorkingConnection-ipconfigOutput.txt attached shows the Windows 10 Asus system with a Realtek ethernet controller connecting fine. Any thoughts on what I can do to get Intel Ethernet Connection I219-V to connect properly in my new P70? I can't be the only one. Having a hard time finding a clear solution that WORKS fr... Read more

Hey, anyone with Intel i219-LM Ethernet Card using 1Gbps ISP connections these days? This card is present in my T470s and probably the whole family of other products. My problem is, no matter what I try I can't utilize the whole 1Gbps speeds from Internet sources. The card seems to max at around ~400-450 Mbps. Things I tried to nail down the problem. 1) LAN-LAN tests - In my home network consisting of Gigabit Ethernet I get full speeds, which are around 100MB/s for big file transfers between computers, so the card itself can achieve 1Gbps speeds with no problems2) I tested the very same network with gaming PC I have next to Lenovo and speedtests @ speedtest.net with same destination gives much better results on gaming PC - around ~800-900Mbit/s3) I tested two different routers, no change - Intel i219-LM just can't go past 400-450Mbit/s mark. I used bunch of different drivers, from the oldest ones to the newest ones available at intel.com - no change. I tested speeds with FTP and the problem remains. In device manager I noticed a lot of Advanced options for the card, I tried messing around with all of them but nothing changed. Anyone noticed this problem? I had 600Mbit ISP connection and I didn't notice the problem in the past, but with upgraded connection there is indeed some kind of bottleneck happening. PS. I know that Internet sources have 100s of variables that can interfere with the speeds achieved on tests, but after bunch of different tests and... Read more

My Thinkcentre M700 has ethernet and one of the USB ports active even when I attach power cord, without turning it off. I am positively sure I turned off Network Boot in BIOS, permanently disabled Computrace, and other stuff that could possibly cause this activity when off - however here we are. The machine doesn't have AMT. Updated BIOS to latest version yesterday, and ME Firmware to latest version today. I bought the machine second hand, at a very lucrative price and with bloody long warranty - and afraid it may be compromised. Even if not, I would like to understand what exactly is happening and how to prevent it. Please help!

The M700 comes with a 250W PSU.  No other options are offered.
But there is an option to configure the M700 with a GeForce GT720 1GB card.
Nvidia's product site says the GT720 requires a minimum 300W PSU.
Why does Lenovo is configure a machine that doesn't meet the requirements given by the graphics card manufacturer?

But more importantly - if I follow threads correctly, Lenovo PSUs are a bit of their own animal.

Are there PSU part numbers for larger PSUs from other models that could be used to upgrade the 250W supply in the M700?.   (eg. the 650W supply available for the P500/510?)

Tnx for any ideas/thoughts.

A:ThinkCentre M700 Tower: upgrading graphics and power supply (6th gen Intel, 250w)

This is very helpful.  Thanks.  Its a standard form factor tower box we're looking at, so if I understand correctly any TFX power supply, combined with the ATX to Lenovo adapter (seems to be about $5 at amazon) will fit and do the trick? But the end goal here is to try to up the graphics capabilities of an M700 -- which other than for graphics, can be configured nicely for our needs.  So it looks like it is possible to up the PSU a bit.  Awesome.  I'll search threads for ideas on what people have been able to successfully install in terms of upping the graphics capabilities.  (The M700 seems to be pretty new, so there aren't many threads talking about it.)

Since a few years back my NIC (I291-V) don't work properly anymore. It started to make trouble after NIC was replaced (reason unknown as there was no problem there) during other repair of laptop. I have been trying to fix it but to no success. Have been using Wifi instead. After reboot NIC works fine but it fails after a certain amount of databits have been passing through the NIC. During normal surfing it will work the whole time as the critical data limit will nog be reached but during update of PC <-> NAS i.e. while large data is moved, the NIC will fail and disconnect the LAN.. Quite annouying. Anyone else with the same problem? One solution is to just buy a USB-NIC..

A:Error injecting ThinkCentre M700 network drivers ...

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is.

I believe the ethernet adapter on the M700 is Realtek RTL8111GN, and requires Realtek network driver.  The driver for this Realtek component is certainly available for download on the Lenovo M700 support download site.

I believe the Intel I219-LM ethernet adapter is used on the M800 and M900 and a download for the Intel driver is also available for download on the same Lenovo M700 support site.

Lenovo has apparently placed download links for both adapters on the M700 page, but surely one or the other should satisfy your search.

Does this resolve your problem?

Hi folks,
I don't think anyone's going to be able to help with this given how obscure it is, but I'm going to take a chance and ask anyhow.
We are receiving a new HP desktop model, the HP EliteDesk 800 G1, for which the normal WDS process is not performing the domain join.
After much digging around both through the logs and checking at various stages via the Shift+F10 command prompt, it appears to be a problem with the network card driver as immediately after the driver detection phase of Windows
setup has completed, opening a command prompt (via Shit+F10) and running an ipconfig reveals the adapter is using an APIPA address.
Manually running an ipconfig /renew at this stage resolves the issue but if you leave the build to its own devices then the domain join fails and the UnattendGC\setupact.log reveals the domain join process has simply timed out
after numerous attempts (as shown below) - unsurprising given the allocation of an APIPA.
Additionally, by the time the setup process is complete, the network adapter appears to work just fine.
Here's the relevant extract from the setupact.log:
2013-12-06 07:48:20, Info [DJOIN.EXE] Unattended Join: Calling DsGetDcName for mydomain.com...

A:HP EliteDesk 800 G1 with the Intel i217-LM NIC and WDS on Server 2012 (both R2 and non-R2).

Okay, I seem to have resolved my own issue with a solution I haven't had to use in a Windows imaging context before.
While I was typing up the last post, I had already kicked off a new build from an image I had captured where I had performed two steps related to what I was talking about above:

Remove the i217-LM driver using Device Manager (selecting the option to remove the driver files as well).Ran netsh int ip reset.
Having a look at the registry both before and after, the only profound difference was that the Linkage key was emptied from under Services\Tcpip. Nevertheless, this second step proved to be the solution as I had already tried the first point in
a previous build. It also explains why builds on other hardware were working just fine.
I'm unsure what the root cause of the issue is - whether it's the driver, Windows or a bit of both. I guess I'll never know but at least I have identified the steps required to resolve the issue for our specific environment.
Cheers,
Lain

One year ago, I had the trouble that my T460s with Ethernet adapter Intel I219-LM lost the LAN connection after wakeup from standby mode quite often:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/T460s-LAN-adapter-I219-LM-sometimes-gets... Finally, that problem disappeared some months later, most probably by an automatic change of the driver. Now, I have a similar problem again for 2-3 months: The LAN connection suddenly always takes some seconds after wakeup from standby, and sometimes, it is even only established with 100 MBit/s instead of 1 GBit/s. I already have the latest Lenovo driver 12.17.8.7 installed - probably this version has a similar bug with behavior after standby again?

Hi - I'm getting a BSOD approximately once an hour. Typically the Taskbar and Firefox freeze (if I have other apps open I can alt-tab to them for a bit), then after a minute or two I get a BSOD. It started happening I think about three weeks ago. Initially it was once every couple of days and was manageable but it has reached the point where it is affecting my productivity. I can't think of any specific updates or applications I may have installed around that time. The issue also happens when I boot in Safe Mode. Furthermore, if I am not at the PC at the time it goes into a boot loop with messages like "No operating system found" and "Media test failure, check cable." There are no cables, but I have tried removing the unit from the monitor and plugging it back in again.I have tried updating the BIOS. I wanted to try and take a look at the dump files but I'm either looking in the wrong spot or can't work out how to make my PC generate them. I've raised a ticket with support in case it's hardware-related but they're taking a long time to respond so I thought I'd throw it to the community in the hope someone could assist, maybe tell me what I should be checking etc. Appreciate any assistance - thanks!

Now i have alot of computer experience so updating from windows should be fine.I was wrong. The bios update reset the computer to only give me a black screen en blinking power led.As  i was updating the bios i left ik like this for 15min but it stayed in theat state.I held the power button to turn the computer off and eve since then it is dead.Turning on the power the cpu fan does rotate and if i have an USB(with notification led) drive inserted i do see it gets power. There is no beep at power on.I have tried the Clear CMOS jumper, bios recovery and removing the jumper and CMOS battery.I created a bootable USB stick and put the USB Drive UEFI BIOS Flash Package on it to no luck.I formatted an usb driver with fat and fat32 filesystem and put only the image imagefw.rom in the root.I did this for both the fbios version available on the website.I have read that it is crucial to update in a specific order.I know that the bios that was on the computer dated 2016 so i am guessiing i will need or that version or one just after but i cannot find these anywhere. The 2 version i have tried are from 2019 and 2020 being: FWKTA5A and FWKTA7ACan anyone provide me with and older BIOS version or a link to it please?

I've seen several posts related to this in some way, but either no answer or somewhat different. In any case: The issue I have is that I recently purchased multiple ThinkCentre M700 Tiny's and all of them have the same issue. I can plug in either monitor into either individual display port and have it work, but if I try to plug in both, the second is not recognized and leaves the monitor blank. If I try to detect another monitor in Windows (7 X64 pro), then it shows "Another display not connected" that is available output on Intel(R) HD Graphics 530, but I cant select it, or use it in any way. If I apply, that "monitor" stays there indefinetly and another detect will bring up a 3rd. The monitors are connected directly via DP>DP and DP>DP. I've run Windows Updates entirely. No luck. I've tried removing the intel driver entirely and reinstalling from Windows Updates, no luck. I ran Lenovo System Update and installed all recommended and optional patches. Nothing. I've tried updating the BIOS to FWKT6AA from Lenovo's site. No luck. I've tried switching the monitor mode in BIOS away from auto, no luck and no options to enable dual monitor. I searched through all of the BIOS for any such option. I've upgraded the Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 driver to 20.19.15.4474 (highest on Lenovo's update page) no luck I've tried upgrading the Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 driver from Intel's website directly. They do not install and instead throw an error w... Read more

Hello everybody!I've got an issue with some of my ThinkCentre M700 desktop, with the WiFi antenna/adapter to be more specific. The thing here is that I use all of them with dual monitor (1 in VGA port, 1 in DP port with DP-VGA adapter), and without the wi-fi antenna it goes really well, but using the wi-fi antenna or just enabling the Wi-Fi adapter from the network sharing centre, the monitors start blinking, turning on and off constantly, and that makes it impossible to work with them (the blinking lapse is about 5-10 seconds until it starts turning off again). Any help you guys can give me, will be really appreciated! Thank you in advance.

On the Lenovo specification sheet for the ThinkCentre M700 SFF, it says that some come with the NVIDIA Quadro K420.  If I wanted to install this card myself (meaning mine didn't come with the card), would I need a power supply upgrade?  The maximum power the card will use is 41W. Given that some m700 SFF come with this card, is a power supply upgrade neccessary?  I believe the PSU is currently 210W at 85%.  I attached the spec. sheet, click on m700 SFF to look at the info.
