One game crashes during loading and another wont even load

Q: One game crashes during loading and another wont even load

Hello, here is my problem. I just bought a 32MB ATI All-in-wonder 128 (rage) vid card, a new PNY 128MB memory stick, and a 16x DVD-Rom drive and installed it in my compaq that has a AMD K6. Well, I got everything installed OK and everything worked alright. I was able to play Star Wars Force Commander with no problems. A day or two later it would go to the loading screen then crash just as it was done loading and getting ready to go to the actual game, when the screen goes black and I hit CTL-ALT-DEL it resarts my computer. Then I tried Delta Force 2 and it wont even load!! I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything at once and all together and the same problems occurred. I even reinstalled directx 7 & 8 to no avail. All my other games work with no problem (and some of them have higher requirements? Please Help!!!!OS WIN 98SE

Preferred Solution: One game crashes during loading and another wont even load

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I use Windows & There was a recent game update and now the game wont load. It keeps saying that windows wont allow access. I have completely redown loaded game. This happened once before and I had to remove AVG to get game to down load. But now I cant get AVG removed. It wont allow me to. I think I may have a viris. I tried resetting to previously loaded point, but have same issue.I went to laptop 3 year old/ Vista OS and it downloaded and runs the game fine. Went to game site forums doesnt seem to be a problem with any other users.

I was loading a kids game onto the computer and chose the option to save all files to disk - was about to change my mind and cancel when the computer just rebooted. It didn't reboot all the way tho just past the bit where it says booting from CD and then the screen just goes black.

I think I may have overfilled the hard drive so that now even windows can't load up.

Oh man, what have I done? Please help. The computer that I did this too has all my photos on it!!

A:Can't load windows after loading game

"Booting from Cd" means that there is a Cd in the drive and the computer is trying to boot from the CD, instead of the HD.

Remove the Cd, start the computer and report results.

Hi there.

I'm really having a hard time figuring this out... I've been playing World of Warcraft for a while now and have always been crashing when I do certain things and only certain things in the game(which are very important: ie turning in a quest).

However sometimes it has extended beyond that, such as I crash while loading up into the game. This has now come to the point where it's every time I load up. I've reinstalled the game but it hasn't fixed it. I'm thinking it's a hardware issue but I can't be certain.

Can I get some feedback please? I've got some minidumps for the past day of anguish.

A:Game crashes everytime I try to load in.

You should provide some system specifications, such as the amount and type of RAM, the make and model of processor, video card, and hard drive.

What screen resolution are you using and what type (CRT/LCD) and size of monitor?

Have you visited the game's site to find out if your hardware meets the requirements to play the game, or if there are any issues, patches, etc.,

I recently installed Oblivion, but it crashes a few second after I start a new game (I can create my character and load the game and then play a few seconds before I get an error message). If I load the autosave, it crashes immediately after the load bar is full. If I stand still it won't crash untill I do something (attack or walk) and if I walk up to the cell door the guy starts talking as the game freezes. I don't know how to fix this and I'd really appreciate some tips.

I'm running on an Intel i7 920 processor with Windows 7 64-bit, XFX Radeon HD 5870 video card and an XFX x58i motherboard. I have installed all the latest drivers for my video card, motherboard and sound card. I have reinstalled the game, but that didn't change anything. I am running Oblivion without any mods, and turning the video settings down to the lowest doesn't help.

Please help!

Edit: I experimented a bit and found out it crashes immediately on quit game and load game (even if loading a manual save), but not immediately after starting a new game. I hope this information helps.

The computer in question crashes every time a game (WoW, UT2004, Black and White 1&2 all tested) is loaded, after about 2-4 minutes. Usually works fine on other programs. Crashed once on load of a youtube page.

The crash goes like this: freezes, sound starts looping, screen goes black, then monitor shows it is receiving no signal. The sound looping does not occur in WoW.

Up to date drivers for both video and sound, ram passes memtest, PSU rated for 850 watts (way more than this needs).

Tried unplugging the sound card to see if it was the problem, and now it won't boot except in safe mode...

any suggestions?

A:Computer always crashes a few minutes after loading any game, and one other time.

Ok, plugged sound back in, now it boots.

Still won't play games though. Going to try uninstalling the card again.

I've been posting this all over the place, been talking to 2K tech support, etc. and so far no one has a solution for me that actually works.

The gist of this is that I can start up a game, no problem, play for as long as I want and save it. If I then click on "Load GAme" after selecting "Single Player", the game crashes.

Oddly, I recently discovered that if I start up STeam in off-line mode, the game does not crash when I click on Load Game.

The last thing that 2K told me was that most likely KERNALBASE.DLL was corrupt, and that I should run "SFC /SCANNOW" from the command prompt to repair it, but it has found no errors (ran it 3 times on the advice of 2k -- still no luck).

Things that I've tried include deleting my INI files, deleting all my save games, totally reinstalling the game from scratch, reinstalling Direct X (it won't install -- it says I have the most recent version), upgrading my video drivers, booting without loading any programs, turning off my virus scan, etc.

The game used to work. I actually haven't been playing it for a while, so I can't tell you what specific things that changed on my system may have broken it.

Hey how you doing?..better than me I hope! I have a problem, when I load a replay the progress bar fills up and a few seconds later the game crashes and I find myself viewing the desktop. I have found that if I don't install pach v1.2 I can view the replays without a problem. But then I can't play on line, and I won't receive all the game glitch fixes and upgrades. I visited the activision website because they support the game. I clicked on tech support and I followed their suggestions, but nothing worked! I currently have patch v1.2 installed and my replays will not load the game crashes!

I have an MSI GFORCE 4 TI4200 8X video card(updated with latest drivers) there is apossibility that my video card is not fully compatible with the game,so I was told. If you know something that may help me out please post me a reply.

I bought starcraft and the expansion about a year ago and always played them. then my computer messed up and I had to use the system restore disc which wiped out all my precious files(luckily i saved my starcraft maps). so about 3 months later i tried loading the starcraft discs and they dont work! all that they do is make the noise of a disc spinning around like its about to do something, but it just makes my computer run really slow until I take the disc out. I tried going into 'my computer' and clicking on the starcraft icon as it appears in place of my c drive icon but it just gives me the hourglass until i take the disc out. I tried both of my disc drives and they do the same thing. I gave the discs to someone else and he said that they work fine.

What do I have to do to get this to work?! Every other game of mine works fine, even older ones!
Oh and btw I am using Windows XP

is your disk damaged?

try going to my computer, look at the disk Icons, do you see a disk there, or is it just blank, if its blank your computer isnt reading the disk.
if you can see the disk, right click it and click autoplay and see if that makes any difference.

last thing, check the back of the box and look at the system requirements, does it match yours?

So ive been going through a nostalgic wave lately and wanted to play the Original Sims on my Windows 7 Laptop after not having touched it in so many years. Unfortunately I cant get it up and running. It goes past the loading screen, freezes on a black screen for a few seconds, then crashes back to the desktop. I sometimes get this error message:

Game cannot be started because:
DirectX 7, or Service Pack 3 for NT4, is required. It could not be located.

Im baffled because Ive managed to get games that are just as old The Sims to work fine. It's like my laptop doesnt want have anything to do with this game whatsoever.

So far after doing some searching, I found that a windows update called KB3086255 was giving other people problems. I uninstalled the update that I found I had, but all it succeed in doing is getting past the loading screen before it crashes. I also tried messing around with the compatibility tab under properties such as running this as program as an administrator, running it in Windows XP (even Windows 98), disabling visual themes, etc and none of those work. Im really stumped. Can anyone else help me?

Hello wolf, and welcome to Sevenforums!

Perhaps your hardware isn't working. I'd start with the memory. Remove all but 2 GB of RAM from the computer and see if it boots. If it doesn't, replace the RAM with the RAM you have removed. If it boots, check each RAM using MEMtest: RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - created by Jonathan_King

Remove the bad RAM.

Let me know how this goes.

If you can't download anything at the moment, use the built in windows Memory diagnostics: Memory Diagnostics Tool - created by Brink

The BIOS screen appeared so did the OS loading screen later but that was about it. The screen was black. Safe mode wont work, it always stops at

Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.
Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying  "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"
The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"
I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

A:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.
I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."
Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.
Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0
Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."
Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"
BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files
Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

About 3-4 months ago, my uncle placed a GeForce 9500GT video card. It worked nice for games like Dekaron,Rappelz,Oblivion but just about a week ago it crashed on COD2. I thought it was normal but it happened on Left 4 dead too. I started to get worried and thought it was normal but then it kept on crashing on Portal(1st stage, at around 20-30 seconds on the timer) and almost any game i borrow from my friends. It crashed on Warcraft 3, Overlord, Drift City(only in Undercity Mission). Im kinda worried now maybe you guys can help me.

It crashes and sometimes the sound loops but sometimes it doesnt. Im not sure if it's only the monitor because some of my games cant be shut by using ALT F4 and i cant check if it shuts down well. When i unplug, plug and turn it on, there are no warnings or things that say it recovered from an error. It just starts normally. Some people say i have to upgrade my Video card driver but im worried because when i installed a driver on my Laptop , i couldnt turn it on. SO WHAT DO I DO?

I've been haveing some trouble with either game crashes or full bluescreen (error 101).
I WAS useing twin GeForce 9600GTs in SLI, I recently upgraded to a HD 7870.
The problem did not change, suggesting that video drivers are not the source... Although altering the drivers with the 9600GTs did seem to effect if the game crashed or full bluescreen crash.
So basicly, the PC works fine untill I play a game (high end and/or minecraft... simple games do not trigger it) at that point, you are on borrowed time. Around 15-120 min. into gameplay, either the game will crash (fatal error bug or no bug report) OR the PC will freeze briefly followed by a blue screen BCCode 101. (Windows 7 64)

I did a simple RAM check, but I did not leave it running for long. I have 3 sticks of 2GB in there, and haveing removed one at a time did not effect the problem. (IE: I took out each stick, leaveing 2 in for a quick and easy method to find a possable faulty RAM chip).

Thus far, it would seem that the CPU in at haveing timeing issues with a core.
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+ 3.2 GHz

Could it be overheating? Everything seems to work fine untill I start a game, then it crashes out roughly 30 min into playing. I'm consitering removeing the heat sink, reapplying the thermal paste, and checking if that has any effect. This much I am qualified to do; but is there a way to monitor processor heat levels durring gameplay (I'm sure standard bios heat checks would not show problems). ... Read more

So I was playing a MMO game called Wizard101, when randomly, I disconnected from it.
I tried first to re-connect to the game, no success.

So I tried going to its website, loads very slowly, sometimes not loading at all.
Then I wanted to try go to its fansite, to ask for support there, but it turns out that the fansite isn't loading too.
I try to load a few more pages that is related to the game, but none of them will load.
However everything else seems to load just like normal.

I try to fix this with using my usuall fixes:
I tried connecting to the websites on another computer. Didn't work.
Restarted my internet + reset my router back to standard. Neither did this work.

I haven't changed any of my internet settings in a few months; so I doubt anything there would be the problem.

thanks for all help!~~

A:Websites about a game are loading slow, or not loading at all

If other websites are fine, then the most likely issue is that the website and server may be down. Nothing you can do about that.

I'll keep this short and sweet because I know how busy you guys are.
I built a gaming computer from scratch, there were a lot of problems even getting it working initially this time, as compared to the last one I built that I had zero problems with ever.
I am getting a lot of BSOD's, games freeze and crash, movies freeze and crash, and streaming does too. In addition, I am getting an error occasionally with the GPU that tells me it has timed out and reset the GPU. I used the windows recommended fix for this and set the response timeout time to 8 seconds, since I have done so I have only seen this problem once. I was wondering if I had too little power for my system, but I have seen threads with similar problems that have plenty of power. I followed the instructions to the best of my ability, and you should find all of the information you have asked for below. Please don't hesitate to ask for anything else you may need. I truly appreciate what you guys are doing here for so many people.

IMO, the suggested fixes for the TDR timeout of the video card only conceals the problem - it doesn't fix it.If the card is timing out, then fixing the cause of the timeout is preferable (IMO) to just lengthening the timeout. Unfortunately it appears that the system has pirated software. Please get a legitimate copy installed and we'll be glad to help. Here's suggestions on how to ensure that your version is legitimate:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/genuinePlease be aware that we may not be able to fix it (as the hacks that were done to activate it will cause the OS to behave differently than we expect it to). If that's the case, our efforts to help may just waste your time. Secondly, the forum rules prohibit assisting with pirated software - so the topic would be closed if that is the case.As a courtesy, I will offer an analysis of your issues using the reports you provided.I will not answer any questions about the analysis until the system is made legitimate. If you do make it legitimate, please submit a new set of reports for us to check.Just FYI, sometimes the owner won't know about this.  So here's 2 scenarios that might ring a bell:- if they had a "friend" help with the computer - and the "friend" installed a pirated copy.- or they used a copy that they had from another OEM computer.  The OEM license is tied to the hardware that it came from - so you can't just use it on another system (that means that it's pirated). And here's the analysis... If any of you have a radeon card (might apply to nvidia cards too) and you have been experiencing random crashes to desktop / reboots / VPU Recover windows ...Go into you r bios and change the vid card core voltage to 1.7v, if 1.7 doesnt fucntion, use 1.8. That should fix 95% of all of you crashing problems.

I had tried everything to fix these crashes, formatting HD, reinstalling windows...I even bought a new power supply. None of it worked but since i switched to 1.7v I have had no problems in any games and no crashes at all. It was set to the default 1.64v unbeknownst to be.

Anyways if youve tried everything like me...give it a try I think that it will fix it.

A:A FIX for random game crashes and Vid Card crashes!

Ummmmmmmmm... I'm sceptical... I think voltages generally aren't meant to be messed with... if you do, just know that you may run the risk of frying your card...
...right??? not all cards run on the same voltage, and if it's supposed to run on something lower, it could get fried, right?? and then if it's supposed to run higher than that, MAYBE some bugs would get fixed, but wouldn't the card also run slower??

Which radeon card do you have anyway?

EDIT actually, it looks like the standard voltage for AGP cards is 1.5v... upping the voltage will (I believe) up performance a little, as well as heat generated. Too high a voltage, however, will result in BSODs and the like.

Hello there,
It seems like you did not perform a clean installation of Windows and that's why your system is acting up.
Follow the steps below to install a new copy of Windows:
1. To format your hard disk during Windows 7 installation you will need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Insert your Windows 7 disc in your CD/DVD drive. Please note: will need to restart or turn on your system with the disc in the drive.
2. After turning on your system with the CD in the drive go ahead and press any key when prompted during your computer post routine and then follow the instructions presented on screen. If you don’t see this go back to step 1 to setup your BIOS to boot from CD or USB flash drive depending on your installation media.
3. On the Install Windows page simply enter your preferences and click next.
4. Accept the Windows license agreement.
5. On the “Which type of installation do you want” page go ahead and choose the “Custom” option.
6. Select Drive options (advanced) on the “Where do you want to install Windows” page.
7.  Select the partition that you want to change, choose the formatting option you want to perform and then follow the instructions.
When allocating space choosing the default MB size for your drive is typically the best for most users since you want to take full advantage of all your disk... Read more

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal.
First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly.
After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects. someone please help

Do a hardware/software reset with your BIOS:Shut down and turn off the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

After doing those steps, clear your CMOS by entering the BIOS (see your system manual for steps to enter the BIOS), going to the EXIT screen, and loading setup/optimized defaults.
