Japanese applications on English Windows 10 and vice-versa

Q: Japanese applications on English Windows 10 and vice-versa

I would like to know if I can install and run Japanese applications on an English-based version of Windows 10. This was not possible on any version up to and including Windows 8. The best one would hope for was to change the default language of menus, etc.
For example, in Win 8, if I have installed the English version, I cannot install the Japanese version of InDesign, which has many features not available in the English version of the program. When I tried installing the English InDesign on a Japanese Windows 7, it didn't take either.
The people at Dell Japan wrote today that all I have to do in their pre-installed Japanese version of Win 10 is go to the "language and region settings", but surely this cannot be right. I have hunted through the Windows page but came up empty-handed.
Can anyone show me where to find a definitive answer to this question? Thanks (in advance.)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have you tried to load the Japanese Language Pack (Control Panel -> Languages, Add Language), set your time/date settings to Japanese and your region to Japan? I think this last one, your region, is what makes the version install or not. If you have done all these and changed the default display language to Japanese, you should be able to install the Japanese version without any issue. To make sure you have to e-mail Adobe. Here in Greece, we can install the English version and then install the Greek Language Pack if we want Greek interface. I'm not aware though of any program requiring a specific Windows language to install. My problems usually arise from legacy (non-Unicode) programs that try to display Greek and display garbage because the language for non-Unicode programs (in Regional Settings) is set to English US rather than Greek. Once we change it to Greek and restart all legacy programs display correctly in Greek. The only advantage using a Greek Windows version is that all settings are automatically set to Greek, so a novice user has nothing to worry about. But in earlier Windows there were some compatibility bugs in the Greek version that were not in the English version. I remember some Greek programs did not display correctly in the Greek version (probably due to incorrect font settings) and displayed fine in the English version after we had changed the language for non-Unicode programs to Greek! So some of us more advanced users often avoided the Greek version and used English instead. Also all new Windows versions came first in English and the Greek version was out one or two months later, we just couldn't wait, so we used the English version. Windows 8 and 10 are the exceptions.

A:Changed Windows 10 OS Language to English from Japanese But Dell Updates Still in Japanese?

Where did you buy the computer?  Did it come with Japanese as default?  If you bought it in Japan its possible they installed the Japanese language only versions of the Dell programs and you would be stuck with them.  You could go to the support page for your computer and download the English versions if there are any.

Salutations,

I have 3 windows 7 machines and 1 XP machine that I need to keep on XP. I have a Homegroup set up on a wireless network (Router = Linksys EA4500) for the 3 Win 7 machines that works fine. I am now trying to set up an XP machine on the network to share files and a printer with the others and so far I'm not having any luck after following the procedure on HowToGeek.

I have done the following in Windows 7:
- made sure all 4 machines have the same workgroup name (WORKGROUP).
- made sure all 3 Win 7 machines have network discovery, file & printer sharing and public folder sharing turned on as well as turning off password protected sharing

I have done the following in XP:
- gone into the network setup wizard and turned on file and printer sharing
- shared the drive and folders that I need shared.

All 4 machines have no issues connecting to the internet. The homegroup is working fine on Win 7 machines as mentioned but the XP machine doesn't show up under the Network listing on the Win 7 machines and vice versa.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good day,

Anyone who knows how to send messages to all/single PC on the network using Windows Vista (also from XP to Vista machines)? My laptop's OS is Vista and my other PCs here at my home are running Windows XP SP2 and Windows 98. Can you at least show me how or recommend some free utilities. You can also refer me a URL just in case that would solve my problem.

When I was at high school back then, I could send messages across the network via net send in Windows XP. Some years letter, I have a new XP machine and it is hooked up on a wireless network. My problem is that I can't use 'net send' on my own machine. I guess this is an issue with Windows XP SP1 and SP2, don't you think? Wireless network is not an issue here too, right?

Thank you...and apologies for my questions.

Hello everyone!

I found this forum while searching in google for some answers and I'm having aproblem with my wireless network. One day when I came from school (still in high school) I decided to buy a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router Model: WRT54G2 so my father can have internet access. I setup my wireless correctly and everything seems to be working fine, but what I would like to learn is how to setup a wireless network in order to share files and folders (including my printer). I tried to start with this but for some reason is not working.

This is the situation, i have a desktop PC with Windows Vista, my printer is connected via wired to my desktop PC and this PC is also connected via wired to my wireless router. My dad has a laptop with Windows XP SP3 that is connected via wireless to my wireless router and I would to be able to share files and folders with his laptop, also I want him to be able to use my printer with his laptop. Can this be possible?

Both computers are currently connected to the Internet, both have Internet and are in the same workgroup called "Home".

Here are 3 images of all the errors that I'm getting.

I am at my wits end! I have one pc and one wireless laptop, which are connected together via a NetgearDG834 Router/ Modem.

I recently had to reinstall the PC with windows 2000 operating system. The laptop is on windows vista and now they will not see each other.

I have reconnected the workgroup and both confirm laptop and pc confirm that they are in the same workgroup.

The laptop (on vista) have a fixed ip address of 19.168.0.148 and the pc (on win 2K) has ip address 192.168.0.47. Both pcs can access the internet through the router/ modem Ip address 192.168.0.100

the laptop (on vista) can see itself on the nework and workgroup and it's own shared files but does not see the win 2K pc or the pc's shared files.

I can ping each other's pc and it recieves and replies but i CANNOT ping the respective computer names

Top suspect when you can't ping by name is firewall settings. You may think you disabled them, but it appears you may not have.

For each computer, let's see this:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

nbtstat -n

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Using the same instructions as above, I'd also like to see the following for each computer.

IPCONFIG /ALL

You need to make sure both PC's are in the homegroup. I wouldn't necessarily share an entire drive but thats up to you.

You need to ensure both PC's you want to share information are joined to the Homegroup you created. After this you can right click on the folders you want to share and go to "Share With" and then share that folder with the Homegroup. Allow it to have Read and Write permissions. Do not allow any untrusted PCs in this Homegroup. You can simply give untrusted computers shares to single folders/libraries as needed. Here is a link to help you learn all about Homegroups. Step 4 will probably help you the most.

I am currently in japan so naturally when I bought a new keyboard it is a japanese keyboard. It has romanji and kana on the keys. When I first installed it the system treated it like a normal us keyboard. Also the extra keys that allow you to switch between input modes do not work. I did some searching and found how to get most of the layout correct. However the yen key still does not work. Also the extra japanese keys do not work at all. I have the logicool k200 media keyboard and as I said it is the japanese version. It has 3 extra keys next to the space bar and the key left of 1 which tilde on a normal us keyboard also has japanese symbols on it. Also I used the lang bar after switching the keyboard layout to japanese to switch to kana. After doing this it did type kana symbols but they did not match the kana symbol on the key. I don`t know much japanese yet but I would like to be able to use my keyboard as designed so when I do want to type in japanese I can use the buttons on the keyboard to switch modes and also type the yen character.

I'm sure this would have hit this forum before but I can't seem to find why this is happening. On the network in my house there are 3 computers: a Mac OS X iMac, an XP Home PC and an XP Pro PC. Both the XP Home PC and iMac can see everyone on the network and access each other's shared directories and the XP Pro's shared directories. The XP Pro Machine can at best only ping the other computers - you can't map the other drives or specify IPs etc. I've deactivated the XP Pro Firewall and it made no difference. The XP PC seems to be a working server but non existent client right now (although it has full internet functionality via the residential gateway). Somebody save my XP Pro machine's sight!

Many thanks in advance,

Sorry if a problem similar to this one has been posted before.

The office network I'm on recently had a virus attack on two out of the 5 main computers. Might as well list them to make it easier for my explanation:
1. Operations
2. Accounting
3. Boss
4. Server
5. Reception

All the computers have Windows XP Home installed on them. The Boss' computer is wired, the rest are wireless.

The first two computers (Operations & Accounting) were badly affected. Had major troubles booting into WinXP, I had to use the Repair option in the Setup screen just to fix the problem. Some outside tech guy was called in to fix the virus problem.

So that was done. The network worked for the most part. But there were some big problems.

I have the Operations, Server, and Reception computers sharing folders.
The Operations, Boss', and Accounting computers are sharing printers.

Hello all,

I do not know it is because I reconfigured how I connect this two certain computers to my network.

So I have two computers that are connected to my router via a switch, and a couple of laptops connected wireless.
When I try to connect my Windows Media Center to my 360, it says that it cannot setup the extension, I tried following what Windows Online help had, but I still cannot figure it out.

I checked my router settings, and multicast is enabled (or so I think, I really do not know what that is), and I really do not know how to enable upnp.

My other computers that are connected to the network wirelessly, are able to see and communicate with the 360 just fine. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Is there a way to seperate the audio and voice in a track?

Example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhhzwjt2AG0

I want to take out where he says his name (George) and input my own name. Or if anyone knows another way to do it than that would be great to, I basically just want my name instead of his and I've only thought of seperating audio from voice in that one part.

A:Seperating Audio From Voice and Vice-Versa

Sounds like what you want to do is dub in your voice or somebody's saying your name over the spot where the other name is said.

All you need to do is open the file in an editing program that can handle the video and right where you want it to occur, you lower or turn off the natural audio, or filter just the voice (karoke filtering) which is a lot tougher to do, and paste your pre-recorded audio on another track spanning that same sequence you just adjusted and export the file again.

For the record, I've spent a few hours combing for a solution before posting.

I have 2 devices, both fresh loads of Win7-64, all updates current, etc, etc. No extra software installed at this time. Username/password identical on both machines.

On PC-A:
I go into 'Computer' select PC-B, and it connects, showing the shared drives with no issue.

On PC-B:
I go into 'Computer' select PC-A, and I'm prompted with an 'Enter Network Password' screen. I enter the username/password (again, identical on both devices) and it loops back and prompts me again. No matter what I try on this device, I can not connect to the PC-A. I've tried using HomeGroups, same thing, password loop.

I have tried re-loading PC-A, thinking there may have been something corrupted on the install. This had no effect. My next "last-ditch" effort is to re-load PC-B. I'm posting this first in the event that someone has had this issue.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A:File sharing works from PC-A to PC-B, but not vice-versa.

Guys,

For me, I still run Office 97 on my Windows XP Machine and it works great 98% of the time. I just updated Word Perfect 12 to the latest version. Obviously I have better luck in having WP12 read old MS Word Docs rather than having old MS Word Docs read by WP12 because of the age of my Office software. But at least my Word Processing needs are met. I use both programs, but like to have WP 12 for those occasions where I can't do something in Office 97. There are +'s and -'s to each program

The only conversion problem that I have is if I do a cut or copy and past to the Windows Clipboard from what was in a WP 12 document Word 97 often can not read it. However, if I create a Word 97 doc and convert it to WP 12 it reads it with no problem. If I save a document in MS Word 97 or WP 12 without the cut/paste BOTH programs seem to be able to read it well, even if saved in WP 12 format.

My question is, if I start saving stuff in WP 12 as a WP document, will newer versions of Office such as Office 2007 be able to read WP 12 documents? I don't want to continue to use WP 12 except in emergencies if the files that I am saving will not run on a new computer with say Office 2007. So far, how does Office 2007, or let's say even Office 2003 deal with reading WP documents that are saved in WP format?

Second question, Will WP 12 run on Windows Vista?

IDK y but if I don't reverse my speakers, the sound from my games sounds reverse.

For example. If I put my speakers in the proper order, sounds of bullet will come from my left speaker but actually it's coming from my right side and vice versa. This also happens on my old speakers and old computer and other games too.

Is it just me?

A:I have to reverse my speakers position. (L is at R and vice versa)

Some games can reverse left and right in the audio options. So first check if you didn't click that by accident.

If that's OK, go to Control panel/Sound/Speaker/Configure and run the test.
If it comes up reversed, just unplug and switch the speakers .

I have four computers on my network. Two are Windows XP Pro, one is Windows 2000 (Workstation) and one is Win XP Home. They are on a peer to peer network. They can all get on the Internet. The three XP computers can see each other. None of the three XP computers can see the Win 2000 computer nor can it see any of the other three. All of them are set to the same workgroup.

The win 2000 machine was able to print to the network printer as can all the rest of them. But now aftermaking some changes, win 2000 machine will not print to the network printer.

I have tried to ping and the win 2000 machine can't ping (recognize) any of the others and the others can ping to the other xp machines but not the win 2000 machine.

There are two persons in this office I am working in. One got a new laptop (XP Pro) and his old laptop (XP Pro) is going to the other person who had an older laptop (Win 2000) and so I need to get the files from the older laptop to his "new" laptop.

Can anyone help me so I can get the win 2000 machine to be seen by the xp machines and vice versa?

Thank you for your any help you can give.

Susan

Sounds a whole lot like the Win 2k machine has a firewall that has it buttoned down tight. If so, uninstall it or configure it to allow LAN access.

I'm no expert on this sort of thing but previously, to transfer files between my PC downstairs while I'm on my laptop, I've logged in to two different msn accounts on each machine to send files from one to another.

To save me all this hassle, is it possible to use my laptop upstairs and somehow be able to access files on my downstairs PC, and vice versa?

Many thanks to those who can help. If you need any more specific information, please say.

yes use the network wizard and that should guide you through it
press start>control panel>network and internet connections>set up or change your home or small office network. Then follow the wizard

I figured I should start a new thread on this one. I've finally got most of the networking issue solved only to have a new one.

Here's the break down. Two laptops both running XP (one professional, one media center edition) both connected via wireless. I've mapped the network drives to both. I've disabled simple file sharing on both. Enabled the "share this folder" from the root drives on both lappy's with the maximum allowed box checked. Also have set the permissions to everyone on both. Problem: The Dell running the media center edition can access the network drive on the Toshiba no problem, but the Toshiba get's an "Z:\ is not accessible. Access is denied." error. Please help, I'm getting so tired of this.

Thanks in advance!

I've two PC one with Vista and the second one with Seven.
I'm able to copy/paste a file from Seven to Vista but not from Vista to Seven (in seven the folder is "shared" but the button "share" is grey and I can't click on it).
I think the problem is relaed to the permissions but I've yet allowed "everyone" and I've not password on both my PC..
Any guide on how to make "shareable" a folder on Seven? THX

I have a desktop running Windows 7 professional 64-bit.
I have a laptop running Windows 7 Home 64-bit.

I want to share partitions on the laptop so I can copy files (generally using Syncback) from the desktop to the laptop.
So, I go into properties, select Share With and Advanced Sharing.
Then into Advanced Sharing where I give the partition a unique name.
Then select Permissions.

HOW do I set the permission so my account on the desktop can copy files to the laptop? I use the same username and password on both boxes. I specified my username on the laptop and got a user of laptopname\username.

On the desktop I can look in "Network", see the laptop, AND see the shared partition. But, when I try to copy a file from the desktop to the partition I get a "try again" and it says "You need permission to perform this action"
I don't want to give "Everyone" full control, but that's the only way I've been able to get this work...

I presume this is a security problem, and if it is, how do I do this so I have to be my account to do the copies?

A:Copying files from desktop to laptop and vice versa?

I noticed this has happen to my network last week it had the same problem. I even had my drive shared to everyone and it popped that message up. I even tried redoing my network and that still didn't fix it. So I hope you can find a fix and it might fix my problem too.

Greetings,

I have a PC (windows 7) connected to my router (Buffalo AirStation WMBR-HP-GN) via Ethernet cable, while my laptop (Vista) and a 2nd PC (Vista) are using wireless. My Ethernet PC cannot see the laptop or the wireless PC in Network. Both the laptop and wireless PC can see and share with each other. If I use an Ethernet cable for the laptop, I can share with my Ethernet PC.

In short, I can share wireless to wireless, Ethernet to Ethernet, but not Wireless to Ethernet.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I would try resetting the router first as it's clearly a problem with the router.

If that doesn't work please post a screen shot of your ipconfig/all from both a wired and wireless machine and I'll see what's up.

Hello.

I have a huge problem with my audio config. The device im using is hp probook6450b. I have normal headphones that go into the normal audio jack. This happened suddenly a few weeks ago when I unplugged my headphones but the speaker didn't make any sounds even tho when you test it in the playback devices it gives the green signal. Now most of you would rush to say uninstall or the toothpick method. Tried both and it comes boiling down to this in order. I uninstall all my audio drivers. Try installing IDT HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO CODEC alone but it won't compute so I just go into device manager and do scan for hardware changes and I get the basic HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO driver that doesn't recognize my headphones unlike IDT who despite every approach I use in the end can only emit sound through my headphones. I will provide you folks with pictures in hope someone can help. I need the speaker option to work for my tutoring lessons and the headphones for everything else. https://prnt.sc/r07ox8 https://prnt.sc/r07rhe .I used screenshots via lightshot because I can't seem to figure out how to add pictures. Any and all help is appreciated. My playback devices once I uninstall IDT codec and roll back to the core version that just looks like a real speaker in the playback devices listing and it can't recognize the headphoens.

A:Speaker on laptop won't work but headphones do or vice versa

So with the generic drivers, the speaker works, but with the IDT drivers, only the headphones work?

Are you using the actual drivers provided by HP? HP is the only recommended place you should be getting drivers.

Hello folks,

I'm having a problem with brightness in my laptop.
My Laptop specifications: Drop Down Menu at the left-bottom corner of this post.
It is 1 and a half years old.

If thread title is confusing, let me explain the problem in detail:

When I bought this laptop, it had a Anti-Reflective HD LED Display (which I really liked).

But a few days back, I noticed a horizontal white line blinking at the top of the screen.
The line would show up for 1 second and be gone for 2 seconds.

Then the next day I turned on laptop and noticed not only the while line blinking but also the display was jumping every 2 seconds.

I first thought it was a Graphics Driver problem, so I re-installed, but no luck. (Intel + AMD Switchable)
So I checked if display jumped at BIOS screen, and yeah, it did .

So I contacted a local Computer Repair shop and they checked what was the problem.
The problem was the Display itself. They told me the display needed to be replaced.

I agreed and replaced it with a new shiny (but reflective) display.
Brightness settings worked fine with the original display
But after replacing it, there was a small problem with brightness.

If I increase brightness, it decreases and if I decrease it, it increases.

I kinda sounds funny, doesn't it?

But there are some facts:

> Brightness acts like this in Windows only no matter from where I change it (FN Key, Mobility Center).

> I can change brightness at BIOS Screen using FN keys and it works fine there.

I even ... Read more

Hi Everyone,  - I have to manually switch modes since it does NOT ask before switching- Keyboard/touchpad is still active after flipping beyond 180 degrees and only deactivates when fully folded. Sometimes, flipping it back from its fully folded state keeps the keyboard and touchpad disabled. When this happens, I restart my laptop to restore them. - 'When this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off' is set to 'Always ask me before switching'- On screen keyboard works fine https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-510-not-automatically-going-into-tabl... was similar to my issue. The solution there was to install Yoga Mode Control. I could not find YMC for Yoga 920.  Any help would be much appreciated!
