I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How to remove delta-homes.com ???? Please help.

I had the same problem. I changed the settings of my browser (I use Google Chrome for the record). I changed my homepage into Google.com and changed my default search engine into Google as well. I also deleted every other homepage and every other search engine that was listed in my settings, so that only Google was left.

After that, I deleted Chrome from my computer. I fired up Internet Explorer and installed Chrome again. After that, my homepage problem was gone. As you might see when you fire up Internet Explorer, the delta-homes is probably still there as your homepage, so it only worked at my Chrome browser. And the steps I took were really simple, without having to install any cleaners or something like that, so this solution most likely is a temporary one with the virus/plug-in/(whatever) still on the computer. However, untill you get any answers to remove it for good, this is probably a good solution.

If there's anything about this post that doesn't make sence, please say so. I'm no computer expert either but this is what worked for me (I did it 30 minutes ago and everything is still good,no weird homepage/searching engine).

Hello TSF,

I am having this irritating problem that didn't even get fixed after reinstalling windows, well it simply reappeared immediately, I am not sure which program is possibly causing this since I didn't notice the problem after installing any specific program.
The browsers keep on changing its homepage to this site:-

removed link

I uninstalled some programs that I couldn't identify also the shortcuts keep on changing targets to:-

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" removed link

And for firefox:-

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" removed link

It happens a lot (I keep changing the homepage back and removing the link from the target) I use firefox all the time and sometimes the browser simply closes and changes the homepage to delta-homes.

I even typed this thread twice o.o

I hope you could find a permanent solution and a way to prevent this.

When I switch on computer, instead of going to my email page in outlook, it goes to a site called delta-homes, and although I change back to outlook as my home page, still goes back to delta-homes. I run Mcfee, and it keeps warning of dangerous site and I accept prompt to close it, but keeps coming back.

Hey!

My first question ever... Hope I can be a help in the future.

Anyhow, Omiga-plus somehow got installed on my PC (the search engine), with my grandmother Delta-homes. Seem to be from the same company.

Done everything. Uninstalled software recently installed and changed the settings in Chrome (start-up page, search engines and standard search engine)... But still when you open Chrome it's the front page.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

PS: I really googled a lot, but the only things I came up with were these stupid registry cleaners and the solutions I already wrote above.

Download and run wipe  and system ninja,

https://privacyroot.com/software/www/en/wipe.php
https://singularlabs.com/software/system-ninja/

Then.....

Go ahead and install ccleaner Now that you have the program installed go ahead and run the cleaner function.
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
Now that you have cleaned out some temp files, lets go ahead and disable all of the items starting up with your machine except your antivirus. To do this you will need to click on tools then start up select each item then disable.
Now that you have disabled those un-needed start ups lets go into the settings, we will have Ccleaner run when your machine boots, so that you will never have to worry about cleaning temp files again. To do this:
Hit options.
Settings.
Place a tick to run Ccleaner when the computer starts.

Now go to the advanced tab, and select close program after cleaning, now run the cleaner again this will close Ccleaner.

On Chrome he has the Delta Homes browser hijacker and it makes using the Internet impossible. He's had no anti-virus protection on his laptop and has downloaded games and such like. I don't even know how many other malware things he's got on it.

All I have done so far is to download malware-bytes and I'm running a scan of that at the moment.

This 'insert' is now between the IE icon and my usual home page (see attached jpg photo). I have tried all the usual things to get rid of the thing:1.  Checked to see there is no installed program that can be removed;2.  Checked to see there is no Delta toolbar in the IE list;3.  Did remove a Delta add-on under Tools; did not solve the problem4.  Checked Toolbars and Extensions...nothing there regarding Delta toolbar helper etc.5.  Checked Tools-->Internet Options-->General tab and removed a Delta reference and replaced with the correct home page address; did not solve the problem (actually did this first). So, I still have this "delta-homes" page invader that comes up when I click on Internet Explorer.  Has anyone experienced this and solved the problem? Thank you,AC FalkStans, Switzerland

The same homepage [http://www.delta-homes.com] on all browsers - IE, Firefox and Chrome. This issue appeared few hours ago, just like that. I've been trying to do something with it since then. It's not a matter of changing the homepage; nor simple add-ons to browsers, nor programs visible (and removable) in Control Panel. It's much more persistent and hard to remove or even find. It's not the same as "Delta Search" or "Delta Search Toolbar", it's much worse. No anti-malware or anti-virus program seem to be able to detect it. Since I've really run out of ideas, I believe You are my last chance to get rid of that annoying malware.

I've had the delta homes browser hijacker bugging me for a while and haven't been able to get rid of it. At one point my computer booted to a blank screen and I couldn't do anything unless I restarted in safe mode. Not sure if the two things are related, but I do know that after I used HijackThis to remove everthing with delta homes in the name, it fixed both problems for a while. Eventually delta homes came back to mess up my browser, and I'm trying to get rid of it for good. I just used HijackThis again to remove everything with delta homes in the name, only this time when I removed them, the problem remained when I opened my browser. That's where I'm at right now, so below are the logs from HijackThis as well as DDS which apparently gives more info for Windows 7 if you know how to read it.

If anyone can help me based on this information I'd really appreciate it. If you need more information of some kind then let me know and I'll try to get it for you as soon as possible.

Hi all,
first off apologies for the slackness of my knowledge in this area...

right here goes....

I don't even know if this is possible, but what i am trying to find out is,
is it possible to (i believe the term is Remotely) link 2 PC's so that either 1
can access the other 1..
my problem is that the 2 PC's i have are in different homes, i have my main PC
at my home address and the other 1 is at my parents address, they both have
individual high speed net connection.. (not that it may matter hahaha..)

all i'm basically wanting to do is transfer a load of files from my old PC to my new 1
and if my dad has any problems with my old PC i can try and sort it from home
(as there is a huge amount of traveling distance between us)

********************

so please can someone enlighten me by helping solve my (possibly impossible) problem.. ???

and inform me of the correct terms and jargon if i am waaaayyy of the mark... hehe
Thanks,
MobiTec

A:Linking 2 PC's (Different Homes)

As far as transferring a "load" of files, I'd probably opt for a USB hard disk if they're really large. If not, then you could transfer them on-line.

For the remote control help, I'd consider something like UltraVNC, which will let you do remote control and transfer files.

Hi

I am trying to work out a formula in excel that will allow me to automatically work out the rate of HST needed to pay based on the gross sale price.

For the four ranges i have managed to get the formula to work, as below. (Column 'R' being the gross price already inputted).
=IF(R15<368200,R15/1.052)
=IF(AND(R25>368200,R25<424850),(R25+28350)/1.133)
=IF(AND(R31>424850,R31<484500),(R31+52350)/1.193)
=IF(R30>484500, (R30+24000)/1.13)

When you put the formula in a cell with the relevant value it works. If i put formula one above in a cell where the gross price is $400,000 it says false which i know it should, so i try to add all the four formulas together but it cant seem to recognise it. I am could be not combing the formulas correctly (good possibility).

Has anyone got a suggestion that could help. It would save me a long time inputting individually.

Thanks in advance

Tim

Situation:
I am trying to create a high-speed network between three rural homes (A,B,C).

The homes are on large forested lots, and all three lots are adjoining.
Houses A and B are 200 meters apart and have clear line-of-sight.
House C has no line of sight to either house and is 400-500 meters from House B (and even further from House A).

I'm looking for recommendations on the most cost-effective networking solution; may it be wi-fi, wired, etc. I originally wanted to run 100BaseT between the homes, but it appears the distance would be an issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Rural Homes Networking

Exactly how "high-speed" are we talking? If you're talking volume file sharing, that is quite different than Internet access. The house with no L-O-S is going to be problematic, you may have to bury fiber for that run.

My dad lives in a rural area with no high speed options (except $atellite). Dial up isn't even very good (14 kb). I have setup a 7-mile wireless link that serves him high speed internet from my house (around 300 kbps).

My aunt lives about 300 yards down the road from my dad. She has asked me if I can set her up on a wireless link as well. Due to line-of-sight issues, I can't. I was reading about HPNA and that it will work at ranges of up to 1000 feet. I started to wonder if I could setup an HPNA network that would carry the signal from my dad's house to my aunts over the phone lines. Anybody know if this would work between houses or does it have to be in-house only?

Thanks,

Hi,

Here's my problem:

I have been elected, by my boss, to setup a way that our workers can work from their homes by dialing into our office network. I'm not sure how this is done.

I have the task to get us a dsl, cable or Sprint Broadband direct office connection.(Sprint uses a dish on the roof to beam the internet to your business).

Dsl - not availible, cable - have been told it will not work with office networks, Sprint - offers 5 static public IP Addresses (will this work?).

Please tell me what I need to get the best internet system for our office.

They want to dial in and use cameras, use PC Anywhere 10.0 to work from home on programs installed on our network (Novell 3.12)and have the ability for workers to surf the internet for informational purposes, from the office.

I have heard someone say the word, "Web Server" is this what I need? What does it do? Is Static IP Addresses what I need? If someone has a DSL connection at home and someone else has a cable modem connection at home will there be a problem dialing into work?

Please help. Sorry for the long post.

Thanks.

We run Windows 98, Novell 3.12, Internet Explorer, PcAnywhere, Eudora.

So I don't know how to word the question or I'm sure I could find specifics elsewhere but I'm stuck on this one. My parents had a house built 8 or so years ago, they had Cat5 wiring setup through the entire house with the phone lines and coax cables. They live in the middle of no where so for the first few years, high speed internet wasn't even available to them. Finally the local phone company started offering broadband DSL. When it was setup I don't know who's idea it was to have the modem/router put in the upstairs bedroom but that's where it is.

All of the phone, Cat5 and coax cables run to a box in the Master BR closet in the bathroom, downstairs. The phone lines are all connected through a few Leviton Telephone Expansion boards as well as all the Cat5 cables that go to the rooms.

Anyway when the internet was hooked up the guy installed a filter in the upstairs and he cut the green and white cables from the phone line and ran it right into the filter, the filter connects to a filter/splitter that says DSL/Phone so it's not just for the internet.

If there were a phone outlet on the wall in the closet I would just try and wire the filter in there and connect the router/modem to the Leviton board and have internet to all the rooms, but the only way I have figured to get the outlets to work period is to connect the router/modem to the Cat5 wall jack by the router/modem and then run a cable on the Leviton box to the according room.

A:Setting up my homes Cat5 network

How many RJ45 drops do you have in each room?

Did the tech run a dedicated POTS/phone line up to the room where the modem is located? If not, chances are the tech used the RJ45 jack available in the room and patched in the line to the phone service in the structured wiring cabinet in your first set of pictures.

What you're looking at in that cabinet are two modules. The expansion board in the middle is for your phone service. It takes the connection from your Telco and splits up the circuit to allow multiple phones to tap into the service. The Cat5e boards on the right and left of the expansion board are terminations or punch downs for the drops the previous installer placed in the rooms. What this setup allows you to do is set the service each port in the various rooms will support. If you want that jack to be a phone line, you would use a patch cable which would plug into the expansion board into the corresponding jack on the Cat5e board for that room. What I'm seeing in the picture is a lot of the ports on the Cat5e boards patched into the expansion board to make the jacks in the various rooms phone jacks. If you want to change the purpose of the jack in a particular room into an Ethernet port, you would use a patch cable and plug one end of the patch cable to the corresponding port on the Cat5e board and the other end into either a switch or a router (probably with multiple LAN/switch ports built in).

So based on what I'm seeing, you should have no probl... Read more

At a recent Home Hacker Lab event, an ethical hacker revealed how cybercriminals attack, and what consumers can do to protect themselves.

The October 13 workshop in New York City, presented by HSB and Prescient Solutions, mounted a remote cyber-attack on an Internet-connected model home inside the American Modern Insurance Group claims training facility in Ohio. The event demonstrated in real time how hackers choose their targets, enter a system, and the harm they can do once they infiltrate a home.

Key takeaways for homeowners included:
Most attacks happen via traditional means, through home Wi-Fi systems, emails and computer browsers.
Hackers are quickly finding new entry points through smart Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
Roughly 80 percent of consumers report using a home network connected to the Internet. One in ten consumers have experienced a cyberattack via their connected home systems.
?Hackers are exploiting common security flaws and using them to breach home networks, computers, IoT and mobile devices,? said Eric Cernak, vice president and cyber practice leader for Munich Re. ?Once cyber criminals have access, they can steal personal and financial information, hold computer files for ransom, and hijack anything from webcams and thermostats to smart TVs.?

Jerry Irvine, CIO of Prescient Solutions and member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce?s Cybersecurity Leadership Council, agreed that consumers face a real threat and need to increase safety ... Read more

Hi,
I am desperately stuck on level 2 and need to get into the upstairs study.
I have got out of the library, been in the parlour to get a pipe cleaner, been into the bathroom to get the soap and now need to get into the upstairs study in order to pick up a fake register.
This is needed to put under the door in the parlour behind the curtains to catch the key.
Walkthroughs describe getting into the upstairs study by walking down the corridor and opening the door on the right. (oppisite the bathroom where the soap is) but my version has the bathroom on the right and the door opposite (which should be the study) is locked.
How on earth do I get into it to get this register?
I am totally stuck here and just cannot find anything else to do to continue with the game.
Hope somone can help please!

Hi guys,

I'm pretty handy with computers and fixing software and hardware issues and to make some extra money on the side I decided to start up a part time business as at-home/office tech.

In other words, I will travel to people's homes or offices to help them troubleshoot problems.

I wanted to get some advice from some of you out there who do this for a living, in terms of what stuff I should carry around with me (or in my car)

For example, someone today contacted me and may need some help, they said they are not getting any signal from their monitor and also tried two other monitors.. I guess to troubleshoot this I'll need to install a spare video card and see if that works to determine if it's their video card?

So, do you guys carry around extra RAM, video cards, hard drives, etc.
And what happens when something does need to be replaced? Do you keep extra stock in your car for common parts, or do you take a trip to the local tech store and buy a new video card for them and then come back to install it, and have them reimburse you for the purchase?
I'm just trying to get an idea of how others handle these kinds of things.
Thanks
Nat

Hi there,

This is a new problem I have been having with IE7. I didn't have this problem a month ago, and as far as I know I haven't had any viruses etc.

When I click the "more" expand key in webpages (ie. youtube) the page scrolls to the very top. For example if I visit http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=computers# and scroll down to the 10th entry, then click more, the information would be expanded but I I would be returned to the top of the page. It also happens with other websites with similar options. A few months ago the information would expand without going to top of page.

So I think some settings have been changed, just not sure which ones and how to fix it.

Thanks!

Using Google Chrome I thought Delta Search was some sort
of update (silly old silver surfer!) Read about deleting this in
Computeractive Magazine wouldnt delete so deleted Chrome
altogether. My query is what is Delta Search as I experienced
no problems while using this. Gone back to IE but oh so slow !
My laptop runs Google Chrome with no sign of Delta Search so
I presume I was at fault for its presence on my desktop !

Close your browser and double click on this icon on your desktop:

You will then see the screen below, click on the Scan button (as indicated), accept any prompts that appear and allow it to run, it may take several minutes to complete, when it is done click on the Clean button, accept any prompts that appear and allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report, Copy & Paste it into your next post.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Download TDSSKiller and save it to your desktop.
Extract (unzip) its contents to your desktop.Open the TDSSKiller folder and doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then on Start Scan.If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure, click on Continue. If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue. It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process.
