Preferred Solution: can a corrupted winrar file be fixed?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: can a corrupted winrar file be fixed?

WinRAR provides for several recovery options, however they have to have been used for the creation of the file, not after the fact.

Hi guys.. i think how it started is i was scanning with my anti virus.. and i had some errors so i click optimize.. then i tried to start playing my games then it said, corrupted files on C please run CHKDSK on C drive.. i did run and it says cannot proceed on read only/the volume is too big schedule on your next restart? and i click yes but it never fix anything..
please help...
just a summary i have corrupted disk, probably the C one and i dont know how to fix it.. can tell me how?

A:Corrupted Drivers cannot be fixed..

Chkdsk only finds bad links between drivers. It doesn't scan drivers and replace them with good copies. You do have a program in your Vista installation, however, that does do this, and it is called the System File Checker, or SFC.

"Run as Administrator" a command prompt and type in sfc /scannow

The program will scan every protected operating system file on your computer for errors and if it finds a bad file it replaces it with a good copy.

Then, restart your computer.

Hope this helps the problem!

Yesterday I tried to do a system restore due to bad audio drivers I installed, and got error 0xc0000022. So then I ran CMD sfc, and I got the error, "Windows source protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them". So I don't know how to manually fix corrupted files, so I'm wondering if you guys can help me. I have my sfc details here. SFC Details - Pastebin.com. Thank you.

(Sorry if I put this in the wrong thread, I don't know where to put it.)

A:Corrupted files not fixed through sfc scan through CMD.

Hey, there is a known issue with a recent Windows Update (KB3022345), it causes an irrepairable corruption warning (which is a false report, the files are not corrupt in reality). If you have this update installed then do one of the following:
- Uninstall this update (it is Windows 10 preparation update) or
- Run the fix from The Tech Cookbook – Windows 7 update (KB3022345) causing corrupt files

After the above, run another SFC /scannow. If you still get a corruption, attach it in your next post.

Hi Everybody,

First post here should be an easy one.. Well after running sfc/scanow in cmd prompt I finally solved all my issues.. the problem I am having if I run sfc.exe it still says there are corrupted files but there is not.

I looked in the cbs log and it stated at the last part the all files and transactions have been repaired which they have.. I will post that part in code.. now why is when I run sfc.exe it reports there are still corruption and my question is can I clear that so it report no integrity violations??

Corrupted files found by sfc /scannow cannot be fixed(please see attachment). Have gone through the sfc tutorial. The attached files cannot be fixed with chkdsk /r/f. I believe Windows7 SP1 is corrupted as my laptop cannot implement many of the current updates, and have errors when attempting to update (please see attachment). The laptop is from CyberpowerPC thus Microsoft will not allow me to download a Windows 7 SP1 ISO, which would allow me to perform repair install.

Any suggestion greatly appreciated.

A:Corrupted files found by sfc /scannow cannot be fixed.

Run this command in CMD as administrator.

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

This should repair the corruption.

Also when this is finished, perform a Disk Cleanup. Select "Clean System Files". Check the Windows Update box, and whatever boxes you feel need cleaned up. This may take a bit of time to complete if you've never performed this task, overnight while you sleep is not a bad option

Please let us know if this gets you sorted.

I'm going to try restoring a corrupted profile by copying files from the corrupted one to a new profile. I have the following questions:

1. Microsoft's "Fix A Corrupted User Profile" page advises not to copy ntuser.dat, ntuser.dat.log, and ntuser.ini. My corrupted profile has quite a few files beginning with ntuser, some look similar to keys in the profilelist section of the registry, some have different names than the three MS refers to. Should any of them be copied into the new profile?

2. The corrupted profile shared files with other computers, based on the profile's user name. What's the best way to maintain the share and ownership settings? Will renaming the old profile and then changing the name of the new profile to what the old one was called maintain these settings?

3. I'm going to take this opportunity to move some of the larger files in the corrupted profile off my C: drive. Will that create a problem if they are not transferred to the new profile?

Thanks very much for any help.

I made the mistake of using CCleaner and having it "fix" registry errors. Some of my basic functions (only a couple) aren't working correctly. I plan to upgrade to 7 the first chance that I get on or after Oct 22nd. Also, with the upgrade, will it be a download with detailed instructions on how to back up data etc?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I recently got a dell latitude 10 st2e from a friend and wanted to reset it. I did and then all the drivers were gone as expected, but when i went to get them from the dell website. the drivers would work. for example the intel drivers on the dell website started a boot loop, i got in to the main desktop and it instantly shut down everytime until i reset it again. so dell im asking for a request to fix all the drivers or give me older drivers that work. thank you

A:dell latitude 10 st2e drivers on website are corrupted or not fixed.

What OS are you installing?  The only drivers listed are for Win 8/8.1
Also, after installing Windows 8/8.1 the Intel Motherboard chipset drivers must be installed BEFORE installing any device drivers.  If the chipset drivers are not installed, device driver installs can fail as one of the things the chipset drivers do is identify all the devices on the motherboard.

I downloaded a zip file that contains an executable .JAR program file and 2 zipped .tar files. i have two laptops - one has only win zip installe and another one has both winrar and win zip. When i open this zip file in the laptop which does not have winrar, i can see the .jar file in the win zip window and its file type shows as executable jar file. However the .tar files are still zipped so i double click on them and I get the error "Error reading header after processing 0 entries". Now, when I try to open the downloaded zip file on the laptop that has both winrar and win zip, I can see the two .tar files (File type: TAR file) however, the .jar file's file type changes to "WinRAR archive" and even the icon against the file changes from the typical .jar icon (Java cup inside a rectangle) to WinRar icon (which looks like 3 colorful books on top of each other).

I need your help in extracting these 3 files in such a way that their file type remains "executable Jar file" and "TAR file" respectively.

Just a suggestion here, try peazip to extract the files, it handles most file types and is the program I have used in the past rather than winzip etc

This problem started a couple days ago. There doesn't seem to be a user initiated trigger, as it first happened after the computer was idling for a while, and subsequent crashes/problems occurred at various times in various circumstances, all the while getting worse. I came back to my computer to find it was in an infinite BSOD-reboot loop, where it would clear POST and the Windows splash screen would pop up for about three seconds followed by an instant BSOD. It probably was going on for a good 20-30 minutes before I stopped it, which I did by completely powering down the system and then restarting. When Windows loads, it pops up the message 'Windows has recovered from a serious error'. I send the error report and it says everything is unknown except that it was caused by a driver, but doesn't know which driver. I figured it must have been a random thing, because I hadn't updated any drivers since first building the computer, ... Read more

Please if you have any idea of why this is happening help me.

it shows me the path to where its being extracted to, "C:\Documents and Settings\Richard\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\MWKTKH3I\Eragon_2006_DvDrip_Eng_.part2[1].rar"
than it says in the bottom
Insert a disk with this volume and press OK to try again or cancel to break extraction.

I looked in there help section, but it said nothing about it.
I have no idea what i need to do.
any help is appreciated.

Were you attempting to open a rar\zip file when you got this message?

Perhaps HP printer software?

A little more info would be appreciated.

I have the correct password for a winrar encrypted file, but am encountering an error that will not allow me to open any of the files contained within. It is a 4 part winrar file (so the rar files are named file.part1.rar....file.part4.rar). When I enter the password it says "CRC failed in the encrypted file..." but it still allows me to see the file names and folders contained within the rar file. Except, when I click on a file winrar gives me another list of errors. It again tells me CRC failed in the encrypted file, then the next line says there is a seek error in the first rar file (file.part1.rar), then the next line says "The handle is invalid". I am assuming one or more of the file parts are corrupted. My question: do the error messages indicate the possible location (which file part) of the corruption?

A:winrar error on encrypted file

Have you tried redownloading these files?

Or possibly reinstalling winRar?

I would like to email many jpeg photos so I used WinRar to compress the images. The memory size before compression was 26,781,580 bytes. After compression the size became 26,780,620 bytes. It was only 1kb smaller.

I think I didn't compress it properly. Is comparing the size the right way to test if compression has been done properly?

hi i am trying to use winrar to convert all my different folders individually from one location to another.

example:

c:\projects\test
c:\projects\country
c:\projects\db

to

c:\backup\test.rar
c:\backup\country.rar
c:\backup\db.rar

I am trying the following cmd, which works but what it does is that it gets all the folders in the projects folder into the backup

for /f "delims==" %%D in ('DIR C:\projects /A /B /S') do (
"C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.EXE" m -r "c:\backup\projects.rar" "%%D"
)
but this is what it does

c:\backup\project.rar (it does contain all the files if i extract)
i want them separetely

can you please help?

Hi

I basically downloaded a rar file that had a JPG within it, and I had the 'Hide extensions for known file types' activated so didn't realise that it was a .exe in disguise, had I de-selected the hide extensions option I would have realise it was a .exe and would have left it alone. But stupidly I clicked on the JPG, school boy error I know, and it did nothing, so that then made me suspicious. Then I uploaded rar file, re-downloaded it to make sure everything worked ok, and inside the rar file was one of these JPGs that is really a .exe.

I first downloaded the initial rar that contained the mysterious JPG/.exe file I clicked on the JPG and nothing happened, but now it seems to be generating these files everytime I compress to rar. When I first compress something the file size increases slightly, which is obviously the opposite of what should happen, and when I unpack it the JPG isn't there. Then, when I upload it, and then re-download it the file appears!!?? I have tried various file hosting sites and it happens on all of them so it isn't site specific.

I then tried uploading a small rar I downloaded, a completely new file from here, one that I didn't initially compress, after uploading and re-downloading that, it agin seemed to have this mysterious file inside. That really baffled me because I didn't compress it, I just downloaded it, re-upped it, the downloaded it again. So I decided to change the name of the JPF from .exe to .JPG, t... Read more

How do I fix or open a corrupted PDF file that has been corrupted by some sort of programmatically emailing?

I have already asked Adobe and I have yet to get a response.

If necessary, I might look into the file format of a PDF file.

Please see the following screen shot:

You might be able to extract the text with a hex editor, but other than a specific tool (I don't know of one) to fix it.......

guyz i want to make winrar - exe file of a 60mbs video, ok i can simply make a rar file or exe file from winrar but what i want is to make an exe and at the same time divide that big 60mb into 5mbs to make more files of small size....

I am pretty sure i will get the solution from you guyz.

and sorry if topic is repeated coz i searched for it and found like 184 results which is impossible to sort out

thankx

A:Winrar - divide file into smaller parts

O.k., two steps and you can use the images I attached as a reference.

Right click on the video clip and choose "add to archive..." from the context menu. The box that pops up will be similar to the first image I attached. So, fill out the text fields as shown and press o.k.

Winrar will start to create 60/5 parts which will be 12 parts in total.

Now you need to select all the individual parts, either drag the mouse or go edit>select all. Right click and again choose "add to archive...". This time follow the second image for reference. The main difference here is to ensure SFX archive is selected as that is your .exe file, as oppossed to just another rar archive.

Hi,

I found an usefull batch on this thread:

http://forums.techguy.org/all-other-software/697666-winrar-command-line-separate-archives.html

My problem is that it only works with files, it doesn t take in account sub-folders.

I would need the batch to archive each files and first subfolder encountered in separate archive on the given folder (that's what the gui usually do when you do it manually).

Thanks for you help!

As I tried to open and unzip a WinRAR file downloaded from the net, a message titled WinRAR : Diagnostic messages
pops out, saying this :
Cannot execute “C:\DOCUME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX23.468 \PAL2CRACK103.EXE"

(PAL2CRACK103.EXE is the name of this WinRAR file)
What is wrong? This file is workable since I just used it last time,so please don't tell me to redownload it or scan my computer with antivirus, something is happened to my computer I think, not the file's problem.

Thanks!

How can I do that with winzip or winrar?

Well, in Winrar, in the create archive options there is a tab called 'Files', where you can 'Put each file to separate archive'.

A:converting winrar file to a dvd using nero 6 (moved from networking)

A winrar file is compressed file .. ie it's a file that requires to be reconstructed using winrar in order for it to be useful.

winrar files are not usually associated with being written to DVD except as some sort of backup .. so please advise what you are trying to do
