Windows Explorer view panel zoom at 400% or more

Q: Windows Explorer view panel zoom at 400% or more

My Windows Explorer view panel zoom is stuck at 400% or more permanently, I tried using the mouse wheel and it does reduce the zoom size but only while I'm on the current file. As soon as I move off it goes back to being super zoomed.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello friends.
I have just noticed at few days ago that in Internet Explorer 11 if I go to "view" tab to change the size of the browser window I'm viewing , the "50%" and "Custom" selection is shaded and NOT available. I do not know what might have happened to change this, or how to change it back. Any help you may be able to provide will be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance...

When I use internet explorer, 125% zoom is the best choise for me

When I open IE8, the zoom is 100%. I then change it to 125%. Next page I open is often 100% and sometimes 125%. This is randomly.

Ive also tried to change it in regedit, but it doesnt help.

Ive read other threads about this issue, but these threads were started a while ago. Maybe there is some new solutions.

I just installed service pack 2, and I guess the issue appeared after the installation

Someone knows how to get the zoom to stay at 125% permanently?

Hi,

I have a folder with about 20 images and 20 folders (with avi's, images, and txt files inside).

When I initially check the disk size (while the folder is being viewed in Icons View), the disk size reads 28,415,404,695 bytes.

When I change it to Thumbnail View, the disk size increases to 28,415,444,631 bytes.

I know it's only a 39,936 byte difference but I'm just wondering where this is coming from? When I change it back to Icons View, it still reads 28,415,444,631 bytes. How do you get it back to the original 28,415,404,695 bytes?

Thanks

What can I do to permanently set the zoom level to 110%, and only if I want to, I should be able to reduce it or increase it myself ?

Hi Everybody,

If anybody could give me some pointers on my problem I would really appreciate it

I have Windows 8.1 on my HP Pavilion Laptop. I have this problem where after starting my PC, logging in and being dropped into the Panel view, I wait for about 10 seconds... and then the PC starts thrashing and constantly flicking between the traditional Desktop and the Panel view without me touching a button / clicking on anything!

The only things I can access on my laptop are:

Task ManagerGoogle Chrome (by clicking on the icon very quickly in Panel View before it flicks back to traditional Desktop)

This problem literally prevents me accessing anything else. As soon as I start opening something in traditional desktop mode, the pc flicks straight back to Panel view and it is lost! Even if I am quick enough to click on an application, it doesn't even load it!

I am almost certain it is some piece of software that I must have picked up along the way. I've been trying to use my Norton antivirus to scan and detect it... but I cannot even open that to scan, due to this very problem.

I even tried using the Trend Micro Home Call service, which I could access through Chrome of course. Unfortunately as soon as I tried downloading it I was told it had failed as there is no access to the internet(!?) very odd indeed.

I have not encoutered any details of this problem on the internet but if anybody could assist with this I would appreciate it so much! Thank you guys

Okay, so I recently installed Windows 7 Enterprise and did a little tweaking to my Policy Editor to enable CLT-ALT-DEL at login. I applied and saved and rebooted my computer.

After the reboot, everything looked and felt normal with the exception of my Windows Explorer. As I look to the left of the panel, I see everything except "My Computer" or my local drives. This is where I would need to go to view and access my files. I can still manually type in C: or D: etc but I rather have ease of access with a mouse click.

I searched online for an answer and every time I would find a solution it was to enable / disable view of certain drives on Policy Editor (in which I have it as disabled), or to use the folder options menu to enable view of all drive letters (in which case wasn't what I needed either). I have also checked disk management to see if my drives were "online" and they all were.

Is there a fix for this? If you need more information, please let me know! Thanks in advance!

After starting my Windows 8.1 laptop, if I go to the Control Panel\Network and Internet\View Network Computers and Devices, a device is listed that is not on my network.  It is listed as either a Ralink wireless client Model # RT286U or a full_ariel Model KFARWI and if I right click on the device and view the properties the Model #, Name, and MAC Address are shown. I checked the Device Manager and it was not listed in the Device Manager. Also, my router did not show it as an attached device. I have Win 8.1 laptop, a Win 7 laptop, an iphone, android phone, ipad, WD NAS, and HP wireless printer connected to a Netgear AC wireless router with MAC address filtering enabled. When I log into the router I have never seen either device mentioned above listed on the router list of attached devices nor do any of the devices I have on my network have the MAC address listed for either device.  After a short period of time the device disappears. I have set up my network as a private network.  My concerns are: Are the devices a security issue and can they access my network?  How come my computer detects them? The devices do not list either a work group or a network location so am I correct in assuming the devices are not connecting through my router? Is there anything I can do to prevent it from being detected?

Hey y'all!

I got a list of updates in the middle of a website that auto refreshes. I need to zoom in and lock it to fill the screen. Anyone know of a way to do this?

I'm sorry that I won't be able to link this website, since it is for the airforce.

A:Internet Explorer zoom problem!

To use IE8 zoom, add it to the command bar using 'customize'.

Each click (2) zooms then the third resets back to normal.

Still too small? Start with Text Size larger (customize again).

edit: you can also use Magnifier.

Dear TSG & co.

I've been working on a huge doc in word (w/images)... Since it has grown (78 pages = 14'600kb), problems.

1) Track-changes was activated by default; seeing this as a potential source of problems, I deactivated in word. However, evertime I save and then open doc on another pc, the track changes reappear & doc is increased to 100+ pages of text & images. I believe this has blocked my pc (ASUS pro5di, windows 7, Office 2010) and corrupted or lost data.

Since starting with this doc, I realized that every time I create a new word doc, it opens as a very narrow page on the left side of the screen. It isn't the zoom: zoom was at 100% and when I increased it, I had to increase to over 200% to read any text.

Any ideas?

Kindly stop starting multiple threads that discuss the same subject (libraries and user folders). You started multiple threads roughly three hours apart and it's confusing to people following them, myself included, because we wouldn't know which one to reply to and which one to ignore, plus it's in total disregard to cross-posting etiquette. The first one located here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/614766/libraries-issue/#entry4005914 already started receiving relevant replies and people are more likely to follow it, so I recommend you stick to that thread and await responses therein. A friend of mine is having issues with his computer. He asked me to take a look at it and here is what I have found:

Windows explorer does not open. I tried using the windows button and "e", the windows explorer shortcut and using task manager to start the task. None have worked. What the computer does is blank wallpaper for a second, the desktop icons start to appear and then nothing.

He has the same problem with Internet Explorer and Control Panel.

I can go into safe mode and get into all three, no problem.

My guess is that someone has hacked in and made a few registry edits.

Does anyone here have a quick fix or some utility to fix this.

I can do a system restore because it is XP. But I would rather use that option last. I can run HackThis! but not until tomorrow.

I've had this problem for quite some time, and never bothered with it, because it wasn't crippling the use of my computer. But I'm trying to clean up my computer, and I want to try to tackle this now.

My problem is that I can't view things in windows explorer. When I open up certain folders (c, windows, temporary internet files, etc), it ends up looking like this with only the top row of folders visible:

I can access the folders directly through the address bar, or I can scroll through them with the arrow keys (beneath the field of vision) and the name will show up at the top. But I still can't view them. Many of my folders are fine, so I'm not sure why these ones are like this.

Someone told me it had something to do with my registry, but I hesitate to go mucking about in there unless I know what I'm doing.

help? anyone?

thanks,

Is there any way to prevent the 'view' setting in Win 7 from being global and changing every folder in the computer. I have three win 7 machines and they all do it. And why did 'thumbnails' become 'icons'??

A:windows explorer view settings

Hello Ridgerunner,

Are you by chance in a library instead of an actual folder location?

All included folders in a library will share the same folder view.

Only while in the actual folder location will they have separate folder views.

For example, Music library versus "C:\Users\(user-name)\My Music" folder.

Could you give more details about what you mean for thumbnails becoming icons? A screenshot showing this would be best.

Hope this helps for now,

How can I set the view in Windows Explorer to be the same every time, regardless of what files I've been working on? Your iTunes account should hold all of the information that was on the iPod as long as you synced the device with it.

Hi,

I was installing a communications application on my laptop and during the install I left a USB external flash drive jacked into my machine. After the install, about 60% of the files on my USB stick were gone. When I started investigating I determined there was a new folder that had a bunch of CHK files in them (I mean a lot of them). The problem I have is actually seeing the folder and its CHK files in Windows Explorer. I cannot see the files regardless of making sure hidden files are viewable etc. Is there some setting or something that will let me see these files? Once I see them maybe I can move on to the next step of seeing if I can recover them.

BTW - The reason I know they are there on the USB drive is because the the properties show the disk about 80% full at the root level but when I select all the displayed files and check for the memory use I see a small fraction of that. Also, there is one computer in my group that actually shows the folder and the CHK files. Every other computer I have used will not show the files.

Thanks,
Scott

The new pinstack in Windows 7 is cool but one thing I don't like is the 'library' the default Explorer icon takes you to. To fix this and restore a basic 'drive view' is quite simple;

Update the Start Menu Shortcut
Click on the Start Button and type in Windows Explorer.

2. Right click on the shortcut when it appears in the search results and select Properties.

3. On the Shortcut tab, change the target to:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /root,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

4. Click Ok to save the changes.

Update the TaskBar ShortcutRight click on the Windows Explorer TaskBar icon.
Then Right click on the Windows Explorer shortcut in the Jump List and select Properties.

3. On the Shortcut tab, change the target to:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /root,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

ooh also, in firefox (or even IE) i want to figure out how to change the icons given to the bookmarks. in most cases they're fine but with one site i goto there's no icon attached so all i see is a blank white sheet for an icon. any way to change this? going to properties doesnt give a change picture / icon option.

I use Windows Explorer a lot. When it opens, I want the left pane to show my C disk in an expanded view. I know there is some way to make that the default for Windows Explorer but I can't remember how to do it.

I've searched the archives, but can't find a solution to my issue. I thought I read of a way to remove the annoying description panel in Windows Explorer in W2K, and just have the tree on the left, and the files on the right. The nice pictures and description of the folder takes up valuable window space!

Thanks, all.

Hello Lexus, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It looks like you have it set to Tiles view instead of Medium icons view.

Hello Asliuf,

You have the preview pane turned on, and had dragged it's left border far to the right.

You could either turn off the preview pane, or drag it's left border to the right more to fix this. Preview Pane - Turn On or Off
Hope this helps,

On my wifes computer, when using Windows Explorer, I cannot get it to stay in folder view. When I click on a folder, it displays a single window with the folder contents, but the panel on the left showing the folders goes away. I cannot find a way to bring it back.

This is a real PITA when copying or moving files from one place to another. All I can do is, copy the files, close WE, re-open WE, and navigate to the destination folder, press Ctrl+V to paste the files into the new location. Then, if I want to delete the from the original location, I have to repeat the process and delete them from the first folder. I could use, CTRL+X, I know, but I don't trust Windows enough to do that.

There must be a way to make WE behave like in XP, but I have not found it. Thanks in advance for help here.

A:Folder View in Windows Explorer does not appear

If I understand the problem correctly, you must enter the "organize" tab, choose "layout" and then select navigation pane. Hold the shift down when you exit . The next time you open up you should be able to see the folders all the time.

Win XP Home : When i open Windows Explorer, the default view has "My Documents" drop-down list. I don't want that. I want the "My Computer" section to be the open drop-down.

How do I change that forever and forever ... as opposed to having to forever and forever re-click the view every time Explorer opens?

ALSO: I never use the My Music or My Photos subfiles; how do I erase them forever and forever?

Thanks. Appreciated.

Late last night, I was running high cpu usuage. I know there is something scheduled for that time.
When I went into windows explorer, there was nothing in the navigational pane and just one folder
showing in the library pane. I restarted the computer and when I went into windows explorer, the
navigational pane was back to normal as well as the library pane. Was there something that I did to
cause this? I was working with After Effects at the time. But everything seems back to normal.
I wanted to just delete this question since everything seems back to normal, but I don't see a way to
delete this post. Thanks.

Hi everyone! I am having a problem with Windows Explorer that upon opening the Computer window or the Control Panel, the screen is blank with 4 icons (Favorites, Libraries, Homegroup, and Computer) in the left pane.

Windows gave me a notice about MS SkyDrive was causing a problem, but uninstalling it was of no help. Any suggestions?

PS: Maybe I should remove DreamScene?
UPDATE: DreamScene removed with no change.

Note the green in the Address bar at the top. Wait for it to complete (goes all the way to the right) then you should see content in the right window.

This happens to me some times as well but I have no idea why.
