Sound issues and Youtube buffering issues.

Q: Sound issues and Youtube buffering issues.

MSI P67-G45 (B3)
Antec 1200 V3
I5 2500 3.30GHz
8.00GB RAM
Windows 7 HP 64Bit

1)I'm having issues with my speakers not cutting off when I connect my headphones to them. The speakers are the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 PC set, and I have tried two different sets of headphones, plus the sound is full of static and buzzing. I've also tried re-installing/updating my onboard sound driver, but that doesn't help. I do notice that when I connect my headphones to the speakers that the sound emitted from the speaker will lower by 25% but will not fully cut off. I'm also having issues with the front panel headphone jack on my computer case (Antec 1200 V3). The sound coming out of the headphones when connected to the front panel is filled with static and buzzing. I have tried re-grounding the front panel ground connector, but that didn't change anything. However, if I connect the headphones directly to the back of the computer, the sound works fine.

2)When watching Youtube videos each video has a hard time buffering. My speed is at 10 Mbps and it registers at that speed when I do a speedtest, plus all other websites work fine, it's just Youtube that I'm having a problem with. I've cleared the cache and tried using a different browser, but nothing helps.

I have also ran Malwarebytes AntiMalware, SUPERAntiSpyware, neither yielded any harmful results.

Any help would be appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Sound issues and Youtube buffering issues.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

About a week ago my laptop performed an automatic update. All appeared well until I realised that it wasn't making any sound. The volume wasn't muted and could be raised or lowered, but no music, video or system sounds would be heard. Strangely, Youtube videos would not play properly - a video would load for a couple of seconds, then be replaced with the standard "an error occured" screen, which usually indicates a connection issue. Videos on my HDD and on other sites played perfectly, albeit without sound.
Restarting my laptop solved the issue completely, but it's returned twice in the days since then - each time resolved by a restart. Can anybody offer any explanation as to the issue here, and any advice how to fix it? While it doesn't seem to be a critical problem it's extremely inconvenient, and I don't want to have to be restarting my computer on a regular basis.

A:Sound/Youtube issues

Do System Restore to a date before the automatic update. Then see if you audio now performs normally. If your audio works as before, then try the updates again. Research what the updates do... being especially on the lookout for updates that may affect audio drivers and functions. Install the updates that aren't audio related. If the audio is still working normally, then set a Restore Point. Now install the problem update and hope it doesn't go wonky again.

There are times while watching videos, from all sources, there are skips and pauses, other than iTunes, which eats up my system, what else can effect how videos playback? I'm running Win 7 on an AMD based HP laptop. One solution that seems to work is to restart Chrome.

A:Video buffering issues

Is your ISP cable or dsl? Sometimes after a extended heavy load on the router can cause it to continue to do that and get packet losses. Probably due to a poorly written firmware. Usuallly a quick pull of the power plug and plug back in real fast will remedy the problem.

I just got a new notebook with Windows Vista and I am having problems trying to watch videos online. For example, on youtube, when I want to watch a movie it will buffer about halfway and then it will stop buffering. Then if I click on the portion of the bar that has not been buffered yet it will only buffer from that point on and I can no longer see the video that buffered earlier. I never had this problem with XP. Can anyone help me?

I own a ASUS RT-N66U and I have consistent buffering issues (pretty major one at that) and this has gotten worst over time. I can't stream a single 30 minute video without the connection buffering 3-4 times and I'm talking about 30-60 seconds a pop. It's rather annoying. I am also running the latest firmware with my router.
I have one PC in which my router is connected too. I also have the following devices on my network.

Apple TV x2
iPhone x3

Has anyone else had this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

A:Buffering Issues with ASUS RT-N66U

Are all these devices connected wirelessly. If so, that might be the problem, a bandwidth limitation of some sort...eg too many devices sharing the connection will show some lag. In your case the lag shows up while streaming. What is your ISP's connection speed? You might want to see if you can increase it, if at all possible.

I'm having a problem with streaming videos from various websites, including YouTube, BBC iPlayer etc. The video plays for a short amount of time then engages in a spontaneous stop and shows the loading screen (on YouTube this is a dark screen with an animated circle of dots). This loading screen remains even though the video has completely buffered, if I adjust the slider the video skips to the end. I've tried deleting the cache, as recommend, but it still occurs.

I'm not sure if this is all part of the same problem but there are multiple things going on. On my laptop ( its an HP Pavilion DV6, with an intel core i3 CPU @ 2.20ghz, & 64 but operating system ) The only way i can get any sound to play is if I watch videos in my firefox browser. No sound will play when i use Chrome (which I prefer) or Itunes, or windows media player. The problem with watching videos in firefox is that there is about a 20 second delay before the video will play, and an error comes up to stop the plug in or continue. If you close out of that box the video will play but you will get the same delay every time it is paused and started again. Browsing in Chrome and playing videos from that browser there is absolutely no lag, its lightening fast, but you will not get any sound. Other simple programs ( Like solitaire) have the same lag, each card you click takes about 20 seconds for the move to actually take place. I've tried messing with my sound drivers to correct the audio issues but I am not sure if it is an audio issue, a flash player issue, or a combination. Any input?

Um, I joined this forum to see if there's anyone who could help me resolve this issue.
Lately, well starting yesterday, YouTube has been unable to buffer a video. As in, it would randomly just halt, and I would have to resfresh the page to even hope to get it to play.
I have no clue what the problem is. I've checked Shockwave Player, Java, and used several Browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE, & Opera). Shockwave was up to date, so was Java, I cleared cache/cookies, and it still persists that there is an error that I cannot figure the problem for.
I have no clue what to do, or how to resolve. I've checked the above, and, even ran a virus scan with AVG with no results, Malware-Bytes no results, to see if there was something wrong with my computer. Nothing came up that was not immediately quarantined. I've uninstalled Firefox, and Chrome and reinstalled to see if they worked, and it seemed to work for a little bit but it just stopped buffering at a later point. I installed Opera to no avail. I've reset my computer, but still nothing.
I would think it's a fault with my ISP (Mediacom), but I checked and nothing was off on my DL/UL, and every other application that involved an internet connection seemed to work just fine.
I've posted on Google Groups and Yahoo! Answers, but no responses from either on what the issue is.
Can anyone help me fix this?

Right click on the Youtube player. That takes you into Flash settings. Unclick Hardware Acceleration and see if that does the trick.

buffering, dont you just love it, there is nothing you can do about it except pause the video and wait for it to load up, or get an internet connection with a higher bandwidth but even then the site where the video is being downloaded from may have download bandwidth/speed restrictions in place

Strangest problem.

I watch like, A LOT of YouTube, As someone who doesn't own a TV Ariel or Dish I know YouTube well so I can say with all certainty that this problem did not happen with windows 7.

So, the problem: I go to a video on YouTube, it usually starts playing at 720P, the 'buffer bar' shoots on ahead of the 'play bar' (making up these words now but its going well I think) and then after about three minutes the video just stops. Not buffering, but stopped, I can click pause/play as much as I want but nothing happens. but, if I change the quality (up or down, doesn't matter) the video starts again instantly.

I like to work out while I watch YouTube so having to stop and change quality every five minutes is really getting to me. any help would be great.

btw: I use chrome.

A:YouTube freezing (not buffering)

You're not the only one, I've noticed this as well. Although, I never realised changing the quality made it restart, so I've been copying the video URL at the current time and pasting it into the address bar to get the vid working again.

It doesn't appear to be browser specific though, as it happens in Internet Explorer as well.

I've seen this happen with the games I play recently. For example, in games like Battlefield 1942 and Black and White 2, some places showed "straight lines" from objects. At the top of the 3d static object in question, the straight lines go from there to the sky. There seems to be no end to that unless I get really close to that object.

As for the sound problem, I'm hearing static occur at random occasions. Any way to fix these?

Ok,Here is the issue with this sound card. First off it's a nice Diamond (great cards) Xtreme Sound 5.1. The problem I have with it is it's affected by certain videos. Youtube it plays fine.....until you go into Full Screen mode, then it's garbled...you can't make it out what anyone is saying during play back in F\S mode. Another problem I have is Encoding videos do the exact same thing!

Last night I downloaded a freeware program that was on my old box called "Panzera mp4 to avi converter 1.3" it's a great program. My Camera uses the Mp4 format and I am not too fond of quicktime just to run that format. The reason I am trying to convert them is to kill the file size and make "nolstalgia" DvD for the family. the Mp4 plays fine however,no sound problems in the original clip.

My video and sound cards are up to date, My video card is a Geforce 8400 GS. Running on a AMD Athlon 64 processor at 2.20 ghz with 1 gb of ddr. Anyone ever had this problem? I tried Divx and Xvid thinking it was a codec problem. boy was I wrong. any suggestions is welcomed.

A:Sound issues and some video issues

Update:This isn't really an update but I found out something weird. My video playback with Wmv,Mpeg,Avi,Asf ETC. is always garbled. No matter if it's online or on the computer the playback audio is garbled. What could be causing this. I uninstalled,re-installed Diamond Xtreme soundcard drivers. I installed DirectX9.0c, I have Divx and Xvid codecs. My sound drivers are up to date. I unhooked the onboard sound and uninstalled sound max after buying the Diamond. A friend told me I should disable the onboard sound entirely but I can't find the option in the bios. My mother board is a "Asus A8x socket 939" board. Any helps please? I am desperate!

Hello, I try to play old and new Games on the HP ZBook 15 G2 but each time between 2 - 15 minutes the Game freezes while the sound is still playing for at least 5 minutes until I can play further. It seems like the graphics card is buffering something like on a Video stream until I can continue playing. The Games work perfectly before and after this kind of game freeze. Is this a known issue? What could be the issue? Usually Games should either lag, being slower with less fps, have screen tearing, etc. but somehow buffer a Game for minutes until it works completely fine again is new to me. The same Games work on a much less performant HP 840 G1 Notebook but of course I need to turn down the graphics options depending on the Game. What is also odd it seems in general there are issues with using ALT+TAB to get to Windows while in a Game which works fine on my other PC. Hardware: Intel Core i7-4810MQ CPU, 16GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4600 and NVIDIA Quadro K2100M What I tried:I installed the latest Windows 10 64-Bit Version with all updates, used the HP Support Assistant Tool to install every Update it found. After the issue still there I later tried to install the latest Intel Graphics Driver from the Intel website ( from July 2016), the latest Nvidia Driver from the Nvidia website from the stable branch from October 21st 2016. Tried to disable the internal Intel Graphics Card but e.g. Battlefield 1 is then compla... I recently got Century Link internet service installed and ever since then, youtube videos have not been loading with out a ton of work. if i reset the browser a couple times and refresh the page the video will load, but only sometimes. I am using Google chrome and am sure that it is up to date. i have tried disabling adblocking software without any difference. i also tried downloading a new browser. IE is ridiculous so i got Firefox (which has never been on my computer but i am fairly familiar with) and tried it. Same problem. the page loads totally fine and actually pretty quick for the download speed i have (usually about 16Mbps download and 700Kbps upload). i have gone into appdata folder and deleted the "default" folder in google chrome (once in a while that helps on the other computers i work on at the office). I updated my router's firmware and have reset it multiple times over the past few weeks.
i have two other computers on the same network and neither of them have this issue. I can view videos on Netflix just fine i can even view videos through a different website without problems regularly.
As a last resort today i full factory reset my computer using the advanced recovery option to "Return your computer to factory condition."    Same problem still happening.

Not sure if this belongs in networking or software but lately I have been pretty much completely unable to watch anything in 1080 on YouTube due to it only buffering on average at 700kbps. Yet if I drop it to 720, it buffers at 35,000kbps (35mbps). The speed change is not just a coincidence as I have tested my speed on Speedtest many times and always got 35mbps.

In addition to my buffering woes, I've also been noticing that sometimes the buffer resets and finally, I've been noticing a lot of dropped frames, usually after a 5 minute video, I'll have over 1000 dropped frames. I never used to pay attention to that so I don't know if that's normal for me. I've tested all 3 of these issues on Firefox v18.x and v19.0 with both Flash v11.6 r602 (Both x86 and x64 versions) and an earlier version as well at Internet Explorer v8.0.7 with Flash v11.6 r602 and all 3 issues are present. As well as testing with the latest driver and the previous driver for my video card.

I've searched Google quite a bit to no avail on any of my problems. I'm going to assume that YouTube has separate servers for streaming the various qualities and that the 1080 servers have probably the most heavy traffic but enough to drop my speed to below 1mbps? I've also found people saying that YouTube throttles based on time of day and popularity however I see these issues all times of day, morning, midday and night however I have not tested the popularity one.

Have a Dell Inspiron 560 that's about 1 year old. Running Windows 7. I have it hooked up to a 46" LCD TV via HDMI for watching Netflix and Youtube. When watching Youtube, it consistently has to buffer videos and as a result is hard to watch a Youtube clip without it freezing to buffer. It will buffer at different resolutions - 360, 480, etc. I have a 10 mbps wired internet to the Dell so not sure what the deal is? Netflix plays fine.

Can you let me know if there are some things I can do to fix this?

What is the download reading while you have the computer on the TV -Are you still getting 10Mbps, or is it lower on the TV connection ??Also note that 10Mbps is about minimum required for a steady download, 14 or 18Mbps would be better for streaming -Otherwise you may need to pause the download while your system catches up with the video.Thank You -

I have tried with IE8, IE9 beta and Chrome with same results. Sometimes I can play videos on the fly with YouTube. Sometimes I need to let the video buffer for a long time.

I have 30/5 down/up line and live about 800 meters from the central. I can not say I experience any lag for video games when I play. I have no torrent activity or windows update pending. I also spoke with my ISP, they do not set any limit on the YouTube site.

I'm starting to wonder if the problem can be directed to YouTube itself?
Does anyone else notice the same problem?

My connection should be more than fast enough to stream 1080p on the fly.

In advance,
thank you for your time!

A:Various speed on buffering videos at YouTube

There are many factors, including how well your computer can handle it. Just because you have a large bandwidth doesn't mean that you computer can actually use it. Next time open your Hardware Monitor and check to see what the real download rate is, and what % of the network is being utilized.

Through the application BANDWIDTH MONITOR I found out that its using only about 35-40Kb/sec of speed. Which is only about 40% of what my connection is capable of. I made sure that no download is in progress as well as no other application is eating any bandwidth, but still the buffering did not stop. Is there any solution for the problem?? And a fast PC (quad core processor with 6GB of Ram).

For some reason, any video that I try to play on Youtube that is 360p and above constantly buffers. Videos on other web sites (like Vimeo) have no problems even in HD.

I tried this in three different browsers (Chrome v15, Firefox v7 and IE v9) and had the same problem with all three. I tested my Java and Flash player and both are the most up to date versions.

I also tried it on a laptop that is not as powerful as my PC and there was no problem.

It almost seems as if the flash player will not pre-load the video at all (usually the red bar on a video get ahead of itself, and it is not doing that anymore... if that makes any sense).

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Ever since February 5th I've been having bizarre issues with all YouTube videos.

They load really slow. This occurs on both my wireless laptop and my wired computer that is directly connected to the modem. The 'stats for nerds' info box won't even go above 1,000kbps next to 'Connection Speed' when it used to go way above that sometimes even into the 10,000kbps range.

I don't see how both computers could have a virus because I did a MalwareBytes scan on my laptop. Yes, the database was outdated but nothing was detected. I even tried YouTube on Internet Explorer on my wired computer and the same issue occurred.

I can't seem to install Google Chrome as it gives 2-5 hours during installation on the 'Download' screen. I don't want Google Chrome because I like FireFox and this issue has never occurred before.

I have tried rebooting my modem/router in one, my ISP has tried swapping the modem, I have tried resetting the modem to factory defaults, I have tried cookie and cache clearing. All of that has been unsuccessful. My ISP stated it is not a problem on their end.

I don't know what else to do or try. I don't see how both computers could have viruses as this has never happened before and I never really get a virus because I have the following programs:

Hello all. I'm at my wits end with this problem. I really hope some one can help.

About 3 weeks ago this problem developed. When watching a video on YouTube it will stop loading and the video will freeze with the circluar 'buffering symbol'. I can see the gray progress bar stop at the bottom of the video. Sometimes this will happen after as long as 5-10 mins and sometimes after 5 seconds. Refreshing the page does not seem to help as the video will stop in the same place. BBC iPlayer seems to work fine though. I also have a good internet speed. Running multiple speed tests I get about 7.7 mbs.

Now here are the things I've tried to fix the problem:

Tried on multiple computers including a Mac running Snow Leopard. Still the same problem.
Tried multiple browsers (FireFox, Palemoon, IE9 and Chrome).
Updated Flash to latest version.
Cleared internet cache and removed cookies.
Reset router.
Played with router settings - Wireless channel, turned off firewall and even a hard
Connected with cable directly to router and disabling wireless function.
Tried a completely different router.
Tried swapping internet/phone line filter.
Called my ISP and they say they aren't shaping/filtering network traffic and say I have a good network connection with about 7mbs line although there are a few 'faults on the line' but they shouldn't affect the connection speed.

Does anyone have any ideas? I really don't know what to do other than change I... Read more

Running multiple speed tests I get about 7.7 mbs.Hi Sparky -I have just run SpeedTest on my system and I get just over 14 Mbps, but there are still a few times I suffer from buffering / stalling -My Internet Provider has just given me a new router and upped my speed plan but this is still the best I can get To fully remove the "buffering" you will need a speed over 15 Mbps on average (many here can get up to 40 or 50 Mbps downloads) A New "Good" router is the first thing that you need, followed by (I hate to say) upgrading your internet plan (or provider)Regards - Extra -Download TFC Cleaner to your desktop and run it from there -Double click on the icon (Black Garbage can) > click Start > This will shut down any open programs, so please make sure all is saved> Always Reboot after you run this tool to be sure it has completed its job -TFC only cleans temp folders. TFC will not clean URL history, prefetch, or cookies. Depending on how often someone cleans their temp folders, their system hardware, and how many accounts are present, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or more. TFC will completely clear all temp files where other temp file cleaners may fail. TFC requires a reboot immediately after running.

I have a two media computers with Win81. They work very well in most respects but the HTML5 player in Youtube acts in a funny manner. I can see the buffer loading ok but after it has entered a point it IE seems to clear the buffer completely and starts reloading it. This happens with EVERY HTML5 video and so far ONLY in Youtube.

You can see the problem here:

ie11-youtube | Screencast-O-Matic - Free online screen recorder for instant screen capture video sharing.

I am a web developer, having written my quite a few HTML5 media applications so far but cannot duplicate this behaviour in my own code. It only happens in Youtube and is quite a nuisance with the music (or the video) stopping at regular intervals for a fraction of a second. BBC iPlayer, for instance works just fine everywhere. All other browsers work well in this respect. I just would like to use IE11 because of its low resource use. Any idea?

The computers have 2GB and 3GB of memory but there is an ample amount of free memory. Disabling IE11 extensions makes no difference.

Hello, I've been having some problems with youtube for more than half a year now. It first started with the loading bar not loading fully. As in everytime I'd pause a video, it would only load about 20 seconds ahead and stop. I'd have to play it for the rest to load.

Then around 4 months ago, some videos wouldn't even load. About 1 in 3 videos won't load. Nevertheless, they worked on Chrome, so every time a video wouldn't load on firefox I'd just open chrome and load it. This is what I've been doing for the past 4 months, but now those videos don't even load on Chrome.

This has gotten incredably frustrating as I've searched the web for solutions and even posted on google help but to no avail. I've even posted here in the past but the answers didn't solve the problem.

The main answer I get/read is too download an older version of flash which I have tried and it made things worse because some sites require the latest flash, not sure if youtube did at that time. The other answer I got which was from here, was to turn off the hardware acceleration and restart the browser. This didn't work either.

Hopefully, this time someone can help me solve this problem. I've read of quite a few people who have the bar not loading fully problem. Maybe answers here can help them too.

Alright, I'll start from the beginning. A few days ago I bought the Beta version of a game called Minecraft, which uses Java to run. I downloaded it from the site, and played the game via a launcher from my desktop. It was running fine until earlier, when it started freezing as I was playing and showing me a black screen. To try and solve the problem, I removed and reinstalled Java. This didn't fix the problem. However, I can still play the game just fine if I use the "play in browser" option.

After I reinstalled Java I found that Youtube videos now only showed up as a black screen (they too, were working fine earlier). However, viewing the videos from another site seems to work. An example would be right off the Minecraft page: Minecraft which shows a video introducing you to the game.

Basically, I'm stuck with a game I just bought but can't play except in my browser, and I'm pretty sure I killed Youtube.

I don't believe the problem is Flash, as I uninstalled and reinstalled that again just now for good measure - no change to Youtube. If I go to a user's page on Youtube to view videos, the page loads for a brief moment before going mostly blank (not black, though the video stays black).

Any help with this would be much appreciated, as it's been driving me up a wall for a few hours now. If needed, I can provide screenshots of Youtube messing up.

I had to restart my computer because it froze (not uncommon for my computer), and now whenever I go to Youtube it freezes my computer, but in the second or two before that happens it seems like the videos are trying to load. My computer is basically crap, but it's never froze for Youtube like this before. Help?

For a while now, I've had issues playing youtube videos primarily on firefox, though the issue extends to other browsers as well.
If i am superpatient, I can generally refresh the video and get it to play but that can take as little as 3 times and as many as 50+ attempts.
What i see in each case is the circle of dots that makes it appear as something is loading. I have followed closely all steps on youtube's problem shooting site and even attempted to post for help on youtube, but have not gotten an answer of any kind from a single person.
I cannot trace an exact start time to this and have checked to see that flash was updated as well as other suggested items.
I do run avast! as an antivirus and firewall, but even through making changes have not been able to get consistent playback in videos.
Other players such as vimeo or proprietary sites seem unaffected.
Can anyone provide something I may be missing, or some guidance into this?

Okay, About three months ago, I got hacked HARD...permissions were changed, administrator rights were removed from my administrator accounts, etc. i was flabbergasted. THe iactually didn't bother me though until I ran a MBAM scan and found 133 viruses and spyware instances on my drive (NOT including tracking cookies!). I cleaned and recleaned, using MBAM, SuperantiSpyware, Avira, running each one in safe mode first, then loading into my normal account and running them, and finally erasing my user account and creating a new one. But even after the new user account was created with Administrator privileges, I still routinely received virus and Malware threat warnign flags from MBAM and Avira. Eventually, Avira and MBAM were disabled and Avira was "deleted" (Windows will not uninstall because the setup.exe file has been 'Changed" and won't reinstall it because I don't have "Administrator privileges" on my Administrator accounts!) even though at startup I receive an error message saying that Avira has been corrupted. The most telling issue is that antivirus and spyware/Malware scans come up clean on Safe mode scans, but using my normal account, the machine reboots. Using Superantispyware I notice that it's always during the memory test that this occurs (and in Safe Mode, it passes through this section with no issue). None of my antivirus programs will download updates, even ones I start manually, and although I have no problem acc... Read more

See here if you have the latest Adobe Flash update. If you do then you will just have to put up with this.
Most of the time it is because of server overload.

I've already been over this at the malware forum and didn't manage to get any help or even get to the root of my problem so I was told to make a new topic here.
Recently I've been getting a rather annoying issue during internet browsing. After a period of time both Flash and Java start to behave weird, all java elements on websites stop working, embedded youtube videos are just blank, they do not load at all like below:

This problem only happens when I try to access Google related sites - their search engine, gmail or youtube. Java issue affect everything in general. After that all attempts to use any Google sites end with a message like this:

and I get redirected to a random add/survey website. This happened on all possible browsers I tried - Chrome, IE, Opera.
According to all the scans I was told by the malware guys to run my computer is perfectly clean. So where does this issue come from? I didn't change anything, I didn't download any suspicious files.
I tried using several anti wirus/malware applications to see if my computer is in fact infected, but all of them came back empty. I tried Spyhunter, Defender, Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes, Hitmanpro, ESET online scanner and probably many others with no avail.
So after hours of no viable solution I went with the system restore option, but that solved the problem only for a brief time before if came back again.
After that I went I reformatted my system partition, set up a... Read more

I'm experiencing an extremely annoying issue with YouTube that's driving me nuts. Any video I try to load from YouTube takes ages to load and stops to buffer constantly, such that a 2 minute video will take upwards of 5-6 minutes to load completely. It doesn't matter if it's a crappy low-bitrate cell phone video or something in HD from youtube.com/shows. Other sites work fine with no issues. Hulu streams perfectly though I've noticed that their 30-second ads will load slowly too.

I'm living in the dorms at the University of Central Florida and I thought perhaps it was UCF's network (which gets really slow at night), but even at off-peak times when I can download something at 12 megabytes/sec, YouTube remains slow as hell. My roommate's Macbook (plugged into the wall jack right above mine) has no issues.

The laptop is a 3-week old HP Envy 14, completely clean with the latest version/definitions of ESET NOD32. While I don't think it's a malware issue, I can post HJT logs if really necessary.

I read somewhere that the AV may be filtering traffic, so I disabled NOD32's web access protection which did nothing. There are some protocol filtering settings in the advanced settings tree but from what I could tell they were disabled when I turned off web access protection.

I am having issues when viewing all types of videos in full screen mode. When the video begins to play and the cursor is over the video and all the bars disappear, the video becomes fuzzy and off-colored. As soon as I move the cursor anywhere it becomes fine again. Also, I can keep the cursor on the full-screen icon in the bottom right-hand corner, or the Youtube icon for example, but the bar does not go away. I was looking to fix this so I can watch videos in full screen mode without having to constantly move the cursor, or keep the cursor on an icon that doesn't allow the video bar to go away.

I have a Macbook air if that helps.
