Install PNY NVS-810 in ThinkCentre M800

Q: Install PNY NVS-810 in ThinkCentre M800

Has anyone tried installing a PNY NVS 810 graphics card in a ThinkCentre M800? When I put it in, I can see the BIOS screen (and can go into BIOS and change settings), but after that the computer seems to freeze. Screen is blank and no disk activity. I have tried putting the card in another computer and it booted fine. Also, I replaced the power supply with a 520w unit. No change. Waiting to hear back from either Lenovo or PNY support.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I registried this account just want to come here and tell the story.  On Oct. 6, 2016, I placed an order for ThinkCentre M800 SFF. I waited around 2 months and got two emails from Lenovo: the first email said my order was shipped, and later an email said my order was delivered successfully. But I didn't not recieve anything! So I called Lenovo and asked the status of my order. One representive answered my phone and comforted me that it should not be lost, and promised to contact me later. But I never received any follow up.  So I waited a few more days, and called Lenovo again, I was told that my order was cancelled because they failed to deliever it to my home, and they would return me the money. The Lenovo representtive kept saying they contacted me. I didn't receive any call, email, or paper notice in my mail box.  I asked for prove, no result. Later, I placed a new order and hoped they could deliver the already built machine to me soon. A few days later (December), I got a mail from Lenovo for that cancelled order, they charged me 15% re-storaging fee. I called Lenovo representive again (it really took a long time to call in, around 1 hour each time). A representive answered my call but told me that they couldn't waive the re-storing fee. I asked for them to prove that the delivery company contacted me (as I said, I didn't receive any notification for deliver, no call, no email, no mail, no paper notice in my mail box). They co... OK, I bought an M800 with the 2.5" HDD caddy. I went to add the 2.5" HDD and I can only find the SATA power but there is no data cable. Am I supposed to go out and buy the internal SATA cable? It isn't included when you buy the 2.5" HDD caddy? Seems a little strange that they include the SATA power plug but not the data cable. I did look around inside the M800 and there is definitely an open SATA port on the motherboard. I just could not find a spare internal SATA cable.

I need to install extra hard disks into ThinkCenter M800 desktop. There is one drive bay at the bottom and I think there are two drive bays at the top. The one at thebottom is same as the one drive bay that is having the drive that came with the system. But the two top drive bays are kind of much wider. What do I need to install harddisks into these drive bays? Do I need some special part to install harddisks into the drive bays? Any help is much appreciated.

I am having an issue getting past this one roadblock on getting a fresh install of Window 7 Enterprise on a newly purchased M800z All-in-One ThinkCentre.  I have done what research I can on the problem but I still cannot find a solution to get the Keyboard and Mouse to respond when I get to the Choose a Language screen during installation.  I have tried a number of solutions including the one described here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility.---snip---
Purpose

Windows 7* installation media doesn't include native driver support for USB 3.0, so during installation, when you get to the screen to select your preferred language, a keyboard or mouse connected to a USB 3.0 port does not respond.

This Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility automates the process to update a Windows 7 installation image to include USB 3.0 drivers.

I have also used instruction to update the WIM files with little success as well.  Anyone have any ideas what I can try next?

Im trying to install windows xp professional onto my ibm thinkcentre(mt-m 811324u) machine. I get as far as the following comment. Please wait while setup copies files to windows installation folders, set up copying files.

After that operation is completed the machine reboots, this is where my problem lies, if I do nothing the machine continues to reboot over and over without stopping. If I interrupt the reboot and direct the boot up to drive D where the xp disc is , it merely starts the whole installation process again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I ran a fdisk and format procedure before installing the xp program.

The machine ran well before getting totally corrupted forcing me to clean the slate totally. So I know in the past xp pro was on this machine and running.

Boot off of the XP CD and choose to Delete the Partition, Create a New Partition, and Format the partition NTFS, do not do a Quick Format, this will take longer but will test the integrity of the drive.) Hi all, I am in need of installing a second disk drive for my ThinkCentre E53 10AS. I read the manual, which has instructions on replacing the disk drive - it does mention that in order to install a second disk drive, to follow these same instructions! Of course, it would not be an identical process. For example, there are 3 SATA plugs on the mother board, SATA1, SATA2 (both red), and SATA3 (yellow). SATA1 is plugged into the HDD.

There is a box connected to the power button, that has two buttons on the back. SATA power and SATA data. The SATA power is connected to the HDD and the motherboard via a 4-wire cable. The SATA data is connected to the HDD via a ribbon SATA cable.

So, if I want to install a second HDD, do I use a SATA plug to connect it to the yellow SATA 3 plug?

Does the fact that the plug is yellow mean anything?

And finally, I have looked everywhere, but cannot figure out what the max HDD capacity would be for a secondary drive? I bought a WD Red 3TB. Hopeful it works?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

A:ThinkCentre (E53): need to install as secondary hard disk drive

According to the hardware maintenance manual for the E73, the two motherboard SATA connectors (which you say are red) are SATA3 which supports 6GB/s.  The third one (which you say is yellow) is SATA2 which supports 3GB/s.

Sinc you've bought a SATA3 drive, you should use the second red SATA3 connector to get maximum performance out of it.  Be sure you use a SATA3 data cable and not a SATA2 data cable, as that's part of the requirement to get SATA3 performance.

As far as drive capacity goes, there's no hardware limit pertaining to your E73.  However there IS a consideration depending on the fact that your drive is larger than 2TB.  In order for a new drive to be usable, it must be "partitioned" and "formatted with a file system".  And in order to use a drive larger than 2TB the partitioning technique must be GPT, and not MBR.

You can partition the new drive to have one or more partitions, but if you mistakenly use MBR as the partitioning technique only 2TB of the drive will be visible and usable for partitions.  And there will be a maximum of four "primary" partitions (or a maximum of three "primary" partitions and any number of "logical" partitions).  The extra 1TB of your new 3TB drive will be invisible and unusable.  And the largest MBR partition is also limited to 2TB.

In contrast, if you partition the drive using GPT (which is the modern partitioning method that is recommended), this method supports drives... Read more

Hi!
I've just received a M710T (product code 10M9000CIX - i7-7700 + m.2 ssd + 8gb ddr4) which comes with a 180W PSU.
I'm from Italy so it was difficult to find the US version with 210W PSU, I see that the US version had it http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkCentre/ThinkCentre_M710_Tower

I was looking to buy the 210W as an aftermarket part but I cannot find the code / website where I can buy it.

The reason why I need this is because I've just buyed an Nvidia GT 1030 low profile which should consume about 25/30W.
Reading online I think that my PSU should hold up the load but I would like to power up my PSU for the future.

Another thing to consider is that Lenovo ships various M710T with 180W + NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 2GB + 7200rpm HDD.
The power consumption of the GT 730 is similar to the 1030 and my machine have an m.2 ssd that should consume less than the HDD.

So the questions are:
- is there anyone with my machine (180w) who is using a dedicated gpu without a problem?
- how and where I can find the 210W online (shipping to eu/italy)?

Thank you!

A:ThinkCentre M710t - change 180W psu for a 210W - install GT 1030

As you wrote, systems with the 180w supply are available with the GT 730, which is similar in power to the GT 1030, so the 180w will power it no problem.  The reason this is possible, is that current generation processors use much less power than those from a few years ago, ie. 65w vs. 80 or 95w.

I am confident that there are some models with 210w available in Italy.  You could search the PSREF for system models ending in "IX", same as yours.   I imagine that in a couple of years you'll see good used 210w supplies on Ebay for reasonable prices.  The part number can be found in the parts list in the back of the HMM.  So that when you want to upgrade the GT 1030, you can do so.

Hi,

I currently have an old Thinkpad T400 that has a SSD in it. The SSD was installed there maybe 2 years ago but now I am upgrade to a M800 desktop. I ordered the M800 with the cheapest hard drive with the plan to migrate my current SSD into it. But I was wondering if there is a procedure I should follow for what happens after the hard drive is physically installed. Is there a document online somewhere or some easy way to go around it? Or is it more like making recovery media using the Windows tool and then just installing Windows on the SSD and then go online and start downloading drivers one by one?

Did you order your M800 desktop with the empty 2nd drive blue plastic bracket pre-installed?  If so, you simply need to take your 2.5" SSD from the T400 and wrap the delivered empty blue plastic bracket from the M800 around it, and insert the final assembly back into the 2nd drive cage of the M800.  Now it's physically installed.

Then, since both physical drives are now available simultaneously and since the M800 with delivered HDD spinner will have Win7/Win10 pre-installed onto the HDD spinner, you can simply use Macrium Reflect Free (or similar product) installed into the operational Windows running from the HDD spinner, to clone the delivered pre-installed Windows from HDD spinner over to the SSD.

Then re-boot and interrupt to get into the BIOS Setup utility of the M800, and change the Startup boot sequence to show the SSD as the... Read more

I've just taken delivery of a new M800 SFF, and everything looks great except that it is really quite noisy, even at idle CPU. I've downloaded SpeedFan to see what's going on, and all the temperatures are between 20C and 30C yet the CPU fan and front fan are stuck at between 1800rpm and 1900rpm. I've checked in the BIOS and it is set to "Better acoustic performance", although I have also tried "Better thermal performance" and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Do other people find this model loud as well? Compared with all our Dell OptiPlex SFFs, it's really noticeable. Is there anything I can do?

A:Noisy fan(s) on new M800 SFF

It could be your Power Plan (set through Lenovo Power Manager).  I just got an M800-SFF delivered yesterday (i5-6500 CPU) with Win7 pre-installed, and I've been working on the customization since then.  I did make some changes in the Power Plan.

It's in the Start Menu, Lenovo -> Power Manager.  I set "maximum performance" as my power plan, but then also set "adaptive" for "Maximum CPU speed" in "system settings".  The original value was "highest", which was causing the CPU clock to be at max, and I think that probably could be heating up your CPU, thus requiring more fan speed.  With "adaptive" the core clock speed is dropped to a minimal value unless demand requires TurboBoost to increase it.

You might check what your setup is.

?

Note that with this setup, HWINFO64 reports FAN0=837rpm and FAN1=717rpm.  I'm sure this is more in line with what you're hoping for yourself, as it's very quiet.

H All As part of our Build Process we add the Asset Tag details to the Bios.  Presently our WIN98 Boot disk with lenovo Utility works on all Laptops and Desktops.  This is not the case with the M800s and P310s we currently have.  The USB errors out whether booting to UEFI or Legacy.  So far have been unable to create a UEFI Boot Disk to update the Asset Tag without first booting to  Windows.  Our current workaround is to boot into Windows, point to the DOS BIOS update we downloaded for the relevant PCs and insert the asset tag, very time consuming.  Can anyone assist?

If use 32-bit Win 7 Pro on M800, it can recognize 3GB memory only and 1GB will be shared by graphic card. For M83, customer can recognize 4GB fully.

A:M83 VS M800 memory usage problem

Does the M800 have a discrete graphics card installed, and the M83 uses the internal graphics that part of the Intel processor?   That could account for the memory difference.

Are you able to install 64-bit Windows on the M800?   Then you'll have all 4GB available.

Hi all,

Recently my girlfriend gave me her TOSHIBA M800 laptop. Enlighten me pls as to why I cannot find the model M800 in Toshiba's product support tab?

The models I see there are all 805-XXXXXX.

Is 800 supposed to mean 800 series and that in fact the laptop I am having now is one of those 805-XXXXXX?

I tried to see if any of those M805-XXXXXXX match the model number I see on my laptop but none of it matches. Mine is PPM81L.

I am just trying to find out if my laptop comes with bluetooth.

Appreciate your help on this.

A:Product support for Portege M800

I?m really surprised you cannot find it but I believe you search for it on wrong page. Portege 805 can be US notebook model but if you have European model use European support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Not long ago I purchased an M800 Tower PC. Now I am looking to upgrade some of its parts for gaming. The power supply currently is 250W a FSP250-30AGBAA (or is it SP50A36171, I can't tell). The motherboard is an iq1x0ms, which I would rather not change. My problem is I am looking to install an EVGA gtx 1060 GPU, but am not sure if: a) it will fit the motherboard b) the power supply is adequate or needs to be upgraded c) I will need some sort of 24-pin to 10-pin adapter to fit an alternate power supply to the motherboard. P.S: as a side note I don't believe the current power supply has the connectors needed to install a GPU anyway. Please help, thanks.

We purchased 2 m800 Full size tower machines. We need to add additional drives, but the PSU only allows for one additional SATA Connector. The PSU is using a 10+4 pin connector and I cannot find a PSU or adapter to adapt a 24 pin PSU. What options do I have? Is there such an adapter?

Good mornig.
First of all, sorry for my english. I',m writting from Spain.
I have a problem with my Protege M800. I took it to a computer tecnic because it was working too slow. He told me he had to put my computer back to de situation that was when I bought it. Well, the thing is that he did so, and after that, everything is working ok , but de lights on the base of the computer are allways on ( the lights that permets you go directly to music, the play, stop botton..). I sopose that the problem is that he didn't install something, but I don't know what that something is, and the worst is that he doesn`t know either.
These lights annoy me a lot!
Can someone help me, please?

I bought a PORTEGE (M800-107) in 2009 and before the expiration of the 3-year-old-warranty (2012), the screen went black permanently .
I sent it to the official TOSHIBA service in Greece (called "IDEAL sa") who fixed it in about a month (and after two tries).
One and a half year later, the screen went black again. Now they ask from me 500 euros for the replacement of the monitor. Of course I'm not going to give all these money.
Portege was the 3rd Toshiba notebook I have used. I chose it because I wanted something powerful and professional. The irony is that the most expensive model went off earlier than the cheaper.
However, that was the LAST ONE from you.

PS: In order to take my notebook back (without fixing), I have to pay 30 euros, for the technicians' check!!!!!!!
Really, do you know anyone who goes to service for fun? Or am I responsible for your model's failure?

A:Defective screen on Portege M800

Hi

To be honest I?m really wondering you have this display problem. Portege and Tecra models are the best Toshiba business line notebooks and since years they are known as high quality products with best hardware.

Anyway, sometimes the best products have problems and make troubles. Similar things happen with all technical products. I know it is pretty pity and angry, especially in the moment when you need your notebook.

Maybe it sounds stupid now but maybe you can buy display on your own and find someone who can exchange it for you. I have done this for my friend few years ago. We bought display on eBay and we have exchanged it alone. Of course on our own risk.

Bye and good luck
