I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have recently tried to update the BIOS on my Dell Optiplex 7010 USFF and when it restarted, there was a power-outage at about 50%.
Now if I turn it on, it shuts itself down after 2-3 seconds, turns on again after 10 seconds and keeps doing this until I pull the plug.
Is there any way to repair this?

Hi guys,
I'm hoping you can help
On Friday I purchased an Intel NUC DN2820FYKH. Installed the correct RAM and HDD and installed windows 8.1 through USB. The system installed the OS and booted normally. However, when I shutdown the mini-pc and later turned it back on, it would not recognise the SATA drive.
I assumed something must have gone wrong so I removed it, formatted it in another machine and repeated the process. Eventually I re-installed windows 8. To check, I shut down the computer immediately, and the same problem occurred.
The initial startup screen (showing F2 for setup) hangs when the drive is plugged in but the bios still shows nothing, I tried mounting the drive in an external caddy and connecting it by USB and the computer was able to see it again.
On Friday I updated to the latest BIOS (fy0039). I rolled the BIOS back to (fy0015) and tried every update since then without luck.
I don't think its a hardware fault as a format fixed it until I booted into windows. Before I booted into windows I was having a bit of trouble finding the right installer and the drive was showing up fine. It seems that it's only once I've booted into windows that the drive vanishes on shutdown.

I am using a trial copy of 8.1 Enterprise from MS website.
Please note I have also posted this question on the Intel forums (https://communities.intel.com/message/254820#254820) but in the past have had quicker and more relevant help from this forum.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Is BIOS set to legacy or UEFI and are you formatting as MBR or GPT? Is strange it won't appear in BIOS though, could be a hardware problem.

Try deleting all partitions and start over.

I am wondering if the Optiplex 7010 will physically accept the 850W PSU from the Dell precision workstation. I can't seem to find any dimensions for the stock PSU in the Optiplex, and the Optiplex has that latch that snaps in front of the PSU.

I am aware that the CPU power on the Optiplex is 4-pin and the Precision PSU only has 8-pin, but maybe I can modify it or get an adapter.

Hi all,
Just received my new D620. However, bios admin password is set, boot order=hard disk only, and good old method with my still ready ide hard disk from paragon's site, that I have used twice with success (great job!) is not anymore applicable: D620 ships now with S-ATA hard disk...
Before investing too much in new hardware/adapter, I really wonder if I could apply the same method, as I have a doubt that a W98 boot disk would be able to "format c: /s" a S-ATA drive.
If not, any clue?
(sorry if the question was already adressed somewhere, as I really tried to do my best to find it by myself before annoying you
Thanks all!

windows 98 does not support serial ATA. furthermore, the size of you average modern SATA drive would be far too much for FAT32 to handle.

I have looked up some other alternatives through google, but wanted to see if anyone had any advice/things for me to try. There are no other cards using or connected to the ports. Had a SATA drive DELL 8400 (less than a year old) Dell error code 7, told drive bad need a new one. Person came to install drive, left without installing windowxp. Tried to install windows xp, said drive not detected. Had to call person back, they went into the bios and changed the settings to ATA, then windows loaded. Then when I went to install drivers with Dell disk RAID something or other, was detected but when drivers went to install, said it wasn't there. (kind of don't understand what RAID is)
1. Should the bios be put back to original settings, and then those drivers put in, or leave well enought alone since the computer is working OK?
2. Is code 7 always fatal? I want to get some files from the old hard drive, can I add the sata to an existing computer with an IDE using an add in card, in efforts to try to get some important files?

I had a password locked HD(30Gb), that I finally gave up on. I purchased a 250Gb replacement drive. When I go into the bios to check to see if the system detects it, it show 137Gb, when it did not show anything with the locked HD. I also check to see if there was a bios update, but there was none, just the same as what's already on my 1100. I thought I'd try to use the new drive, while I wait for another replacement, it started to format at 250Gb.

I just wondering why it shows 137Gb. I know this is an issue with some older bios and P3 systems, but I did not expect it with a P4 system.

Anyone else experience this? Any problems if I keep the 250Gb installed, or should I order a 120Gb.

A:New 250Gb showing 137Gb on a Dell 1100 bios

Usually this problem is caused by formatting the drive with a verision of Windows XP that has no Service Pack, Service Pack 1, or Service Pack 1a. None of those will format higher than 137 GB.
If you switch to an install disk with Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3, you can format up to 1.5 Terrabytes without problems.
Alternately, once you format at 137 GB, use a partition editor such as Ghost, Partition Magic, Source Forge, or Acronis (I recommend Acronis)... to extend the partition to the full size of the hard drive.
Either way, you have a cost.

I have a Dell Dimension XPS 720. My PC has two sata hard drives and one IDE hard drive. When I boot the PC tells me that it doesn't detect any hard drive in sata 3. Then it asks me to press F1 to continue. But, when I get into my OS which is Vista Ultimate, I check 'My Computers' and my second hard drive appears. And sata hard drive works fine.

I've gone into BIOS. Each SATA port also lists the model number of the sata hard drive, but the sata drive I'm having problems with isn't listed and yes the hard drive sata port is set to 'ON'.

I should also note that I never used to have problems with this hard drive in the past. It used to show up on the BIOS drive list.

I need help fixing this problem.

A:Dell XPS PC BIOS does not detect my sata hard drive, but the Vista OS does?

If the drive is "seen" by the OS, it has to be detected by the bios. Swap the SATA drives and see if the bios now "sees" the former phantom drive

Hello all,
We just got a 7010 MT and it looks in great condition.  We put in parts that came from a working PC (dell 7010 SFF) and the pc will power on very briefly (2-3 secs the CPU, PSU and case fans spin up) with the power light LED amber for a few seconds.  Then everything powers off.  I tested the PSU and it's fine plus I tried a brand new PSU and it did the same thing.  I get nothing displayed on the monitor, no BIOS beeps or anything at all.

Ok so BIOS reset didn't seem to do anything but removing the CMOS battery for 30 mins and I had some more progress.  It now turns on and stays one and I get the 2-3 lights on the power button.  The manual says "system board, cpu or memory failure" so I'm going to swap those out with others that are working and report back.

So as it says in the title i have a 4 years old Inspiron 7720, and for the larger portion of that period of time it worked like a charm.
However lately it started doing some quirky things.
About two weeks ago my GPU (GeForce GT 650M) just disappeared from my Device Manager. I tried updating my GPU drivers, updating Windows (10) but it didn't seem to change anything. So i did some digging and found this: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19498450
Apparently I'm not the only one who encounterd this problem and there is a solution.HOWEVER, whenever I try to flash my BIOS an error pops up which reads: "ERROR 105 - Command line error! Status = 105."
I searched and found more users that experienced this problem, but the only solution I managed to find was reinstalling the OS, which is quite a drastic measure.
Is there any other way to fix this error?Thank you

It appears your BIOS may need to be updated.  What is the current version you're using? You should update them in order without skipping to the highest first.  Here's some information that may be helpful.

What kind of motherboard is in the dell optiplex 7010 sff? I am interested in moving the motherboard into a new case.

A:DELL OPTIPLEX 7010 motherboard

It's a completely proprietary mainboard - you will not be installing it into a standard case without a lot of rewiring, cutting and drilling sheet metal, and on the fly engineering.
If you really need more features, start with a case, power supply and a standard mainboard - otherwise, be sure you know what you're in for.

So I have a sff 7010 and I want to put in a graphics card that isnt a small form factor one. I am considering buying a 7010 mt and transporting the motherboard into the new chassis. Is this possible?

A:Dell Optiplex 7010 motherboards

Only if both motherboards and front panels on the cases have identical wiring in the connectors, and the front panel circuit board in the MT case can be correctly recognized by the SFF motherboard.
Dell frequently uses different connectors in different models and doesn't make that wiring public, meaning unless you or somebody else has mapped those connectors...
Suggest you search these forums to see if anyone has made this switch.

After updating Bios to A25, restart caused bluescreen with "inaccessible boot device" error. Tried to get into safe mode from advanced options of startup settings, but it did not work. I tried it several times and it would just restart without safe mode and always get me back to the bluescreen. After many frustrating tries, I just selected "turn off pc" under advanced options, waited a couple of minutes and turned the computer back on. Much to my surprise, it booted normally and everything seemed fine. Just to make sure everything was okay, I tried "restart" again - and again it went to bluescreen. Here's where it stands - if I turn off the computer and "start" again, it works fine but if I "restart", it goes to bluescreen. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes and no.  The black PCIe according to the manual is 'wired' as a 4x and not a 16x so if the machine will allow you to put in a graphics card and run it, it will only be about 25 percent useful.

I purchased a used Optiplex 7010 MT from ebay, but I am starting to wonder if there is a problem with the motherboard, specifically with one of the system memory channels.
The PC came with a single Nanya brand RAM Module 4GB (DDR3-1600) DIMM located in the slot #2 position.
I tried to upgrade the RAM using some G.Skill Ripjaws X RAM (DDR3-1600), 4GB x 4, with all slots filled.
The PC will not post or even get to the PSA Diagnostics. Instead the Power button flashes 2,3 which indicates "system board, memory or CPU failure"
So I played around a bit, and I discovered that I can put ANY of the RAM in slots 2 or 4, and the Computer will post and runs fine, but if I put any RAM in slots 1 or 3, (with or without any RAM installed in slots 2 or 4) then I get the same error code, "system board, memory or CPU failure".
This tells me that my RAM is fine, since the system WILL recognize it in slots 2 & 4.
I even tried installing the Nanya RAM module in Slot 1 and in slot 3, by itself, and the error persists.
I have even tried upgrading the BIOS Firmware. It's currently running BIOS version A20, with no solution to the problem.
The system is currently function fine with 4GB RAM sticks in slots 2 & 4, for a total of 8GB, although when I check the BIOS status, it shows that the 8GB of RAM is in "Single Channel mode"
My question is:
Is my motherboard faulty, or is there some setting I need to select before my system will recognize the RAM in Sl... Read more

We currently have Dell Optiplex 7010 tower in our office. It's using a single Acer G6 G276HL monitor via DVI-I port on the video card. We were thinking to buy a second monitor and I want to know if it's going to work?

I presume you're using a DVI-D cable since the current monitor doesn't support DVI-I which the video card supports.
Why not get a second monitor that supports DisplayPort and go directly from DP on the video card to DP on the second monitor without complicating things with that DP>DVI-D adapter?

Hi everyone:

I was curious if anyone else experienced this issue? I have a Dell OptiPlex 7010 desktop/mini tower that I bought off the official Dell site. I configured that mini tower to have an SSD drive as the main drive, which I like very much, except one very annoying issue. Sometimes out of the blue Windows 7 will hang up, I can't click anything and the mouse starts spinning in a circle. This continues on for about half a minute and then it always comes back to life. Suddenly I start getting all my previous clicks moving windows, opening things, etc, all at once. This happened at least a dozen of times by now and I started to notice that when this happens the HDD/SSD LED on the case glows solid, which made me suspect that there's something going on with the drive itself.

Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix this?

PS. I tried contacting Dell support about this issue but they are pretty useless. I spent several hours in a chat with a guy once that eventually simply hung up on me. Then I emailed someone at Dell, for which the guy replied with instructions to run their hard drive diagnostic tool, which I did, that did not show any errors. (Note that I don't have a hard drive, it's a solid state drive.) I replied to the guy only to never hear from him again.... So I think I'm pretty much done with the Dell support

Hello - I have 25+ Dell 7010 computers. I have 3 of them that will not install patches 493108 and 4093118 (Security Monthly quality rollup and Security only update).  In looking back, these started failing in October of last year.  I have searched

The patches apply fine.  The computer reboots.  It comes to the windows screen and flashes the windows icon for a longer than normal amount of time. The screen briefly flashes black.  It comes to the blue windows screen and says "please

Is there a log or something that will tell me what it is failing on?  I have looked. Below is a list of just some of the things I have tried.

Hello all!
I am attempting to get an EVGA GeForce GTX 650ti (1GB) video card working in my Dell Optiplex 7010 Tower.  The card fits quite nicely inside the computer, however when I attempt to install drivers from NVIDIA and EVGA (which I'm pretty sure are the same), my system crashes upon rebooting.  It tries to load the login screen, but the screen keeps going black.
I assume it's a problem with the drivers because the card works just fine without them installed (I just can't play any of the graphic-intensive games I want to play).  I have been emailing NVIDIA support back and forth this week, but everything they have suggested thus far hasn't helped.  One thing they recently suggested was to disable the on-board graphics, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that.
If someone could help me disable the on-board graphics/help me properly install the drivers, that would be great!  My computer is currently running Windows 10 Professional.

The Dell Optiplex SFF has an 240 W power supply. The PCIex16 Slot (BLUE) (Voltage supported 3.3V/12V) has the maximum wattage = 50 W, and the Nvidia Quatro 600 (low profile) has the maximum power consumption = 40 W.

A:Can`t Upgrade Dell E6410 Bios - Dell BIOS Flash window does not work

Well, i follow the folowing steps from this forum (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19413136/19971740.aspx#19971740):
1. Install UNetbootin from synaptic2. Run it and create a FreeDOS USB key.3. Copy the exe BIOS update file to the USB key from inside ubuntu.4. Reboot into BIOS setup and change the boot order to boot from USB5. Boot into a live freedos session. * The USB key will offer to install freedos on your hard disk. DONT - that is ubuntucide!* Don't use himem or or that other memory thingywhatsit - just straight freedos6. C: 7. dir8. run the update
And i could install the Bios Upgrade. Now are upgraded to A13.
Aniway something is wrong, because from windows OS, the installer does not start !!!

I had a pc with SATA-1 drive installed windows7 64 bit, it was working fine untill I decided to attache the another hard drive SATA-3 with server 2003 loaded on it.
I wanted to copy some data from SATA-3 and then wipe it off and use as additional storage, But the PC stop booting from windows7 drive and started server 2003.

I went in bios to change the boot option but the SATA-1 windows7 drive is not listed?
On startup I get message;

Serial ATA AHCI BIOS- version iSrc 1.02 04192006
Controller not set for operating in AHCI mode, AHCI BIOS not installed

I had updated the BIOS to lateds 1.4 version and it does show it during memory check.
Do I need to install th AHCI ?
Would I need to install the windows 7 right from scratch?

Please guide.

A:SATA-1 & SATA3 Bios doesn't see SATA-1

There is an option in bios Sata Type/Sata controller mode. If it's set to IDE switch it to AHCI.

So recently I purchased a Galaxy GTX 460 768MB video card. I was previously using a BFG Tech GTX 275. When I first installed the GPU I was on an ASUS P5B Deluxe WiFI Edition motherboard. I am now on an ASRock P64 Extreme4 motherboard. I mention the old mobo because the problem has been the same regardless. So I link the issue to the GPU.

Anywho, the new Galaxy card on boot, displays it's own Bios information before the mobo Bios page shows up. It's actually the first thing I see on my monitor. It just simply displays Galaxy Bios version (etc. etc. etc). It doesn't last for more than 3-4 seconds, but I personally feel it's an unnecessary delay. Especially since I'm so adamant about computer efficiency and I try to get my boot up times as fast as possible. Just a personal hobby I enjoy! So I was curious if there is a way to disable this initial Bios screen? I did many google searches and couldn't find the problem to a a perfect description. Some people did mention that it has to do with a motherboard conflict, but that's why I mentioned bother motherboards. One was old, and the one I'm on now is brand new. I've never purchased a Galaxy card until now, so I'm curious if it's unique to their brand? I've never updated Bios on a video card before and I'm not sure if it'd cure the problem either. Anyone familiar with this situation? Thank you!

Edit: I'll take a picture of the Bios screen and post it quick. I just thought about doing it, but I typed this entire message and I can't ... Read more

A:GPU Bios showing up before Mobo BIOS (slowing boot up time)

It will still have to do it's thing...even if you manage to make it disappear....I have had systems in the past that has done that same thing...if speed is what your after a SSD will do more for that.

We have T570 laptops and Bios version 1.09 and some on 1.19 bios version.  New Bios came out to upgrade to 1.21 4/27/2017.  We've download the new Bios and upgraded it but in Bios still shows 1.19 not 1.21.  We try to run the upgrade again and says we have the latest version.  Anyone have a solution for this

A:T570 Bios 1.21 upgrade not showing correct version in bios

1.21 (N1VUJ04W) 1.21 (N1VET31W) 1.11 (N1VHT21W) 01 2017/04/25
1.19 (N1VUJ03W) 1.19 (N1VET29W) 1.09 (N1VHT19W) 01 2017/03/30Found the 1.21 on Lenovo site is still packaged with 1.19 files to flash.  Once run the 1.21 file it extracts to C:\Drivers. In that folder show N1VUJ03W which is the 1.19 not the N1VUJ04W 1.21 and in the flash folder has the N1VET29W 1.19 not the N1VET31W 1.21.  Who ever packaged the 1.21 did not add the new files for 1.21 or the link to download is still pointing to the 1.19 exe file..

I have a dell XPS 14z, I bought mainly because the chipset supports sata III. I have seen the 15z has the same specs and it has sata III as well. I have also seen some users have sata III on there 14z. I have downgraded bios to A00 as one user suggested as that worked for him. It however made no change for me. I have since upgraded back to A02. Still only sata II. Why does my laptop not support sata III? is there something I need to update, drivers? If not why would my laptop not work and others do. This is quite frustrating, because I know the hardware is ther. I am using a sandisk extreme 240 SSD drive. I have been able to slap it in my desktop and is blazing 580 transfer rates.

A:Why do some users of Dell XPS 14Z get sata III and others only Sata II

I don't know why Dell support wont help out with this, but this is what I have found. I have gone back to Bios A00 and removed and replaced drivers. As soon as I reboot and open Intel rapid storage technology program it shows sata transfer rate 6 GB. I run a benchmark and I see the 550 transfer rates. Shortly later I only see 3 GB transfer rate. Can anyone tell me why this is being shut down. And why when upgrading bios its 3gb only? Why is dell locking this feature out?
