Hello my fellow ThinkPad friends, I know that there are already a couple of threads out there concerning high battery drain when the device is completely shut down, but none for the X380 Yoga yet. In some cases (E-Series ThinkPads), a BIOS-Update was released to solve the problem. I would kindly like to ask the Lenovo team to try and figure out whether the same can be accomplished for the X380 Yoga. When my device is shut down, it usually drains 10-15% a day, which cannot be a regular thing. Of course, I have tried all the usual stuff: - Windows Quick Start is off - USB-power when off is off- Wake-On-LAN or USB-C is off- BIOS updated to R0SET29W 1.13 If you have any other ideas, feel free to post them. Otherwise, I would really appreciate for a BIOS update that might adress the issue. It is kind of annoying charging your device for the weekend knowing that by the next day, you will already have lost 1 to 2 hours of runtime. Best wishes,Manuel

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I have already done the below
 
- Windows Quick Start is off 
- USB-power when off is off
- Wake-On-LAN or USB-C is off
- BIOS updated to N25ET35W 1.21
- I have uploaded BIOS settings to default
- Disabled thunderbolt
- run battery guage reset twice
 
Battery drain is not as bad as the other person on the X380 but I still lose after making all the above changes 1-3% overnight.  Despite what support says I do not believe that this should be considered normal.  This has never happened on any of my other thinkpads except for my TP25 which was fixed after disabling fast start up.

I received my X380 Yoga with the i7-8550u a couple week back and the first thing I noticed was the fan running almost constantly. I checked task manager and noticed that even though the CPU usage is remaining low, the clock speed is running at around 3.80 GHz.  My power profile is set to balanced with the minimum processor state set to 5%. If I change the maximum processor state to 99% then the clock speeds drop to below the base speed of 1.99 GHz and the fan quites down.  The problem is the CPU will never go above 1.99 GHz when set like this, so performance is noticeably reduced. I've played around in the bios and the only thing that seems to drop the idle clock speed is to turn off Intel SpeedStep which again stops the CPU from going above 1.99 GHz. From my experience with my past computers the CPU should clock down when the load is low. Is this normal behaviour for this computer and processor? I am I missing a setting, or maybe a program or process is demanding full clock speed from the processor? Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm having problems with my 910 yoga. He's been carrying it for more than two days and it's only 44%. Unlike the other posts, where yoga is connected and does not carry my charges very slowly. Also when I remove the power cable the battery drains very fast.
1) I already updated the BIOS
2) I already unplugged and reinstalled the battery drives
I do not know what else to do.

I am a Yoga 700-14ISK user for 2 years. And I had encounter serveral issues with this laptop before (and the service center helped me to fix them) However, now there is an issue I just have now - my battery is draining fast like 1% lost per 2-3 min for light usage (browsing on Chrome or doing my schoolwork either on Microsoft Office or Google Drive) I suspected it was due to my battery wear level. However, as I monitored it, I realised it keep fluctuating (from 19.64% to 42.02%) until I re-calibrate which gives me 38.51% and then 38.71% after a charge to 60%. Is it possible the battery wear level can cause the quick drain in battery?  Is this battery wear level normal? I would also like to point out that I had the battery changed over a year ago and I normally used my laptop for schoolwork and gaming (occasionally now after realising the issue.) I am also going to have an internship (at least 6 months) from July so I am very worried that my laptop can't last long especially its battery. Hence, should I go to a Lenovo service center and request for a battery replacement? Please give me any possible reasons on why the laptop battery starts to drain fast and its battery wear level sharp increase, and also possible solutions for these issues. I would like to know more about it in order to sustain my laptop at least for a year.

Hi, I have an Yoga 900 that worked fine (mostly). However, now I have an annoying issue regarding the battery.  Going from 100% to about 76% could take about 2 hours, but... from 76% to 6% takes a minute. It doesnt downscale normally, but rather jumps immediately down to 6% and then warns me about low battery...  With this issue, the computer is completely useless without the powercord...so, its a bit useless as a laptop yes. Would really appreciate any help here!! Running Win 10 with the latest updates.

My Yoga 3 pro's battery is draining at 5-7% per hour even when the machine is powered off.(not sleeping or hibernating - properly shut down)This has happened about a year ago, where both battery and motherbord have been replace under warrany.Lenovo technicians claim it has, this time, something to do with the HDMI PCB and cable.The machine is already two weeks in "repair". My question: Is this a known issue? if so, what is the correct/recommended course of action?(other than not buying Lenovo... too late) Thanks, Assaf.

I got my yoga 920 two months ago. Everything looks fine expect recent battery drain after shutdown. I shut down my laptop and after overnight I turn it on, it only shows 89% for most time and on time only 64%. I tried a lot of ways suggested online, such as turning off "always on usb", battery reset, changing settings in Intel Energy Management. But problem continues. Does anyone have any idea?

Hi, I got a used Lenovo Yoga 2 11 (YB02496129), installed Windows 10 and swaped out the old hard drive for an ssd (of course installed all drivers for my device). When powered off, I lose up to 50% of charge while the notebook is turned off (not sleep or energy saving). The battery itself seems fine, because I can still use it for roughly 3-5 hours.As I thought that it is an Windows 10 issue (software based), I installed linux ubuntu 18.04. Same result, 33% battery drain overnight. What I tried:- reading through other forum posts with the same problem- installing/deinstalling Lenovo Vantage (updated my bios and drivers)- changed the power off button behavior (shutdown instead of energy saving)- turning of the device by holding the powerbutton for 10 seconds- changed the ssd (so I basicly got my windows 10 ssd out and insterted a fresh one for ubuntu)- installed linux ubuntu 18.04 I cant use a notebook that overnight loses all of its charge for obvious reasons. Do you have any sugesstions? Seems like its a known problem, maybe someone solved it already.

Hi all, Recently got delivery of a brand new Yoga 730 13" from Lenovo directly and have it updated to latest Windows and Drivers and BIOS. While the laptop is powered off, I am experiencing a pretty rapid battery drain I think. I am yet to make an accurate observation but it certainly feels like I come back to the laptop in a few hours and the battery remaining is much lower than I remember.Anyone else experiencing this? I have already disabled Always On USB and have nothing plugged in to the USB ports except for the Active Pen 2 holder. Thanks!

Did you disable fast start up?  Also Wake on Lan.  That will help a lot.  It wont eliminate the drain while shutdown but will help.

Hi. I've updated all the drivers, per technical support's advice. I'm losing 1-5% per day when shut down and 5-10% per day in sleep mode on my new Yoga 920. Is anyone else having this problem? Do tech support read these forums?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
 
Battery draiining reports are also visible on other OEM forums as well and most likely related to similar features offered by Windows 10. Such also applies to different model of different macnufacturers as well.
 
Disabling fast start as discussed here would be a good step to try first.
 
Our forums are peer to peer community discussion group but Tech support (although maybe limited to their own scope of support) also utilizes the discussions we have for investigation of issues.

Battery drain in sleep mode is excessive compared to other Windows laptops. Leaving the office with a full charge, not powering on the unit at home, I come in the next day and the battery is 89%. Same scenario over a weekend - Leave the office with 100% charge, come in Monday morning, having not used the laptop and the battery is 78%. This has nothing to do with the fancy OLED or anything - it wasn't turned on. Hope this can be addressed in a BIOS update. I really want to love this laptop but the short battery life compared to advertised specs and the excessive battery drain while sleeping leave me with mixed feelings.

I bought my Yoga 13 (type 20175) brand new in 2014.  It shipped with Windows 8, 128GB, 4GB, if I recall correctly.  I had a license for W8 Pro that I used and there was a free 8.1 upgrade that I completed not long after purchase. Upgrades over the last (almost) 3 years have been boosting it to 8GB of ram, installing a Samsung SSD 850 EVO (250GB), Windows 10 (Pro), and now a battery. Sometime in 2015, I started noticing that if I didn't use the laptop and left it off for 2 or 3 days, the battery would completely discharge to 0%.  I chalked it up to age, and could still get several hours of moderate use in a day, so it wasn't a priority.  Finally, I bit the bullet and bought a brand new battery and put it in last week. Nothing changed.  I still have the same problem. In retrospect, it may have coincided with the installation of Windows 10.  Below is a further description of the problem and things I have tried.   PROBLEM:When shutting down, the battery loses an average of 2.5% per HOUR. (i.e. after 10 hours, it goes from 100% to 75%)This is consistent whether I use the Windows Start menu, the power button, or a command prompt (shutdown /s /f /t 0) to turn it off.  By the way, putting it in hibernate burns at the same rate. When putting the laptop to sleep, the battery loses only about 0.75% per HOUR (i.e. after 10 hours, it goes from 100% to 92%).  This occurs regardless of how I put it to sleep... I have had this X1 Yoga 3rd Generation laptop since May. Sometime in July the battery will get drained at an excessive rate while the laptop is sleeping. I believe it started to happen after some software/driver/bios update around that time. Hi,I recently purchased Thinkpad X1 yoga (1 Gen) machine with 16Gb Ram, 512GB SSD & WQHD IPS (Not even OLED) display with windows 10 pro 64 bit OS.My laptop battery is draining fast and only last for 4 to 5 hours with normal browsing & usage with 60-75% brightness (even reducing it to 50% doesn't give much improvement) and in Power save mode. As per Lenovo it should last for 9 to 11 hours but in reality it is no where near to it. I had also looked at similar issues that has been raised in this forum by other users as well. But I strongly feel that a top brand like Lenovo/Thinkpad doesn't cheat customers by giving false promises for the battery life of  9 to 11 hours without their internal testing, also I feel they would have not be claiming this (9 to 11 hrs) battery life by keeping their screen brightness to dark i.e. less than 50% or 25%. So i thought i could dig deeper to find out the problem. After my initial analysis using powercfg.exe command tool for sleepstudy, the report (i.e. https://ibb.co/hzob7F) shows me some a Ghost application called "Unknown [None]" which comsumes more power and I guess this is the culprit that cases the battery to drain faster. Hello all today ive just got my new IdeaPad 520 I5 8250U + MX150 + 8GB DDR4 + 1 TB HDD And ive put it windows 10 and started exploring it.The game i have tested till now is Mafia 2 and i  have reached 58 degrees GPU and 69-70 CPU I also used XTU and lowered the voltage with 0.085mv on 0.100mV it crashesh so i left it 0.85mV .But i noticed while i play the fan is barely getting the heat out and wanted to ask how can i increase the fan speed and eventually can i undervolt the mx150    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/Lenovo-Energy-Management-Where-is-my-Du... I have an XPS 9550 6th Gen running Windows 10 (Just over 1 year, out of warranty).
The issue is when the charge plug is plugged in and hovering over the battery icon it says that battery is charging.  However the battery is not charging but discharging until the laptop switches off.  The only way for the battery to charge again is to deplete the battery until the laptop is unresponsive when the power button is pushed to switch lap top on.  Once there is no residual power in the battery it will start charging again to 100% after which the cycle repeats, discharge.
Things I have tried.
Latest Bios update - no change
Another A/C charger - worked ok for a few days
Replaced battery - no change
Bios settings - reset to default (info related to battery and A/C charge reports all good)
F12 - Dell diagnostics, reports all good
When Battery is disconnected the laptop works normally
The laptop charge socket seems tight and secure
I have searched the internet exhaustively but have not found this same issue reported.  The only feasible way I can use the laptop is to disconnect the battery.
Can anyone suggest anything?
I would also like to disable the battery instead of having to open it up to disconnect, is this possible?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Hi Lenovo Community, I'm facing pretty strange CPU Performance problems on the X380 Yoga with i7-8550U CPU. The CPU performance becomes very bad after some operating time. I understand the X380 has a limited cooling capacity, but this behaviour is pretty strange. Environment: X380 Yoga, i7-8550U, 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 1703 Enterprise, SCCM Driver Package used for image building and installation. Bios Version 1.14 installed (most recent one). Drivers are all checked, and are the most recent version. Speed Step Settings in Bios are on Max Performance, on OS also on Max performance. Running Standard Office applications, like Outlook, Skype, Firefox and some management tools. After system boot everything is performing fine for about 1 hour. (I wasn't able to  record the exact time so far). After this, the system starts to get really slow, and shows a bad response time. As soon as some CPU load is applied, the CPU clock in Task Manager goes down, also the CPU load is not able to reach 100%. The CPU Temperature does not go over about 60 at this point. Directly after the system start it goes up to about 85C. I monitored the CPU with HWMonitor, and put some stress to the Laptop using Prime 95. The X380 Yoga TrackPoint cap seems to be ever so slightly different from the 260 Yoga and S1 Yoga TrackPoint caps.  It's perhaps 1mm shorter.  I can't find which part number represents the factory-correct replacement cap for this computer, does anyone know?

I received my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2gen (i7, OLED). Unfortunately the CPU usage is constantly around 30% (reaching up to 100%), the fan is on all the time and the battery is empty in 2 hours. The main reasons for the high CPU usage are the following three programmes:- Sophos web intelligence (which I have to have installed according to my employer)- WMI provider host (I tried deinstalling it, but then I can no longer access the network drives)- Synaptics TouchPad 64-bit EnhancementsAny ideas what I could do to solve the issue? My new X380 Yoga does not start at all- when hooking on the power the LED light was first orange and now white (assuming it has been charged)- when hooking on the power the red LED light (in the i in Thinkpad logo) on the screen cover lights up. The red LED light on the keyboard doesn't do anything.- Computer doesn't make any sound, no fan, nothing. Tried:- pressing it 5, 10 , 30 seconds, nothing happens.- pressing reset on the bottom (with paperclip), nothing happens. Anybody any ideas, or was it just dead on arrival?

When I write something in Word, the pen starts lagging. The option 'pen' turns off and instead of writing it starts scrolling. I can't write longer than 3 seconds. I don't have this problem with other apps, only with Word.

So i got this laptop during orientation for the college i'm going to. I got excited when i saw the drawing programs on it so that i could sketch anywhere anytime without carrying a sketchbook to classes just in case i had time in between to draw. But the pen doesn't work. I have a Thinkpad Pen Pro, and while it seems charged and sometimes work, it's rare. In the 3D paint program, i can get a quick line out of the pen but not again. It's like the connection with the screen is wonky. How do i fix this?

I've recently tested 15-20 of our X380's and found that the Integrated camera will not activate, and has an error in the driver, as shown in the attached screenshot. Is there a known fix for this? Installing the driver listed on your site, and any listed in the software matrix for the specified device type (20LJ) yields no different results. And we also have 1500 of these coming this week to be prepped for deployment...Please let me know what the fix is

I'm trying to see how to charge the x380 Yoga through the Ultra Dock we have just purchased. It seems like i need to have BOTH the DOC and a seperate charger connected - is this really true? Thanks for your help in explaining this. p.s. you can't do a Network boot through the ultra dock either, for that you need to seperate mini network cable.

Hello, I am a support engineer for our organization, working on deploying 2000 or so Yoga x380's at the end of the month. We currently have an issue where all of these machines will blue screen if they are shut down. This has only started happening since they were updated to Win10 1803 (1703 was the previous installation, and no issues there) Going back to 1703 is not an option, unfortunately. Attached is a screenshot of the BSOD - Code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUALWhat Failed: dump_storport.sys I have:Included the latest SCCM driver package in our repository and verified it is installing these driversUpdated the BIOS to the most current (1.13?)Manually downloaded and installed every driver on the "Drivers and support" page for this model, including multiple firmware flashes for every conceivable piece of hardware on the deviceRun the disk cleanup utility to wipe away any trace of the previous 1703 install (windows.old) Since we can't deploy like this, What can I do in order to get this fixed?

I have a brand new X360 Yoga to which I added a 128GB micro SD card.  I was just typing on the keyboard when the card just popped out of the slot.  Now no matter how I try it will not stay inserted at all.   I tried the card in another X360 and it locks in fine.  Looks like the slot is defective.

I'm trying to see how to charge the x380 Yoga through the Ultra Dock we have just purchased. It seems like i need to have BOTH the DOC and a seperate charger connected - is this really true? Thanks for your help in explaining this. p.s. you can't do a Network boot through the ultra dock either, for that you need to seperate mini network cable.

Hello, I've got a brandnew ThinkPad X380 Yoga and after 3 days of using the pen isn't recognized anymore. I tried to update the driver and first that worked out, the pen was functioning perfectly again and as I checked it's battery it was fully loaded, so it can't be an issue of the pen I guess. But after 15 minutes of using it stopped working again and I couldn't find another solution than resetting and reinstalling the pen's driver so far, which is obviously pretty annoying if you need to do it every 15 minutes. I would be very glad if somebody could help me!

So, I've been having this problem since I bought this X380. For no apparent reason the critical battery screen flashes up and beeps 3 times and turns of my laptop. It happens intermittently but almost very time I go into the battery gauge test screen. I'm running Bios 1.16 and I reset the battery gauge test several times but it hasn't stopped the problem.Any Ideas guys?

Hello, I am a support engineer for our organization, working on deploying 2000 or so Yoga x380's at the end of the month.
 
We currently have an issue where all of these machines will blue screen if they are shut down. This has only started happening since they were updated to Win10 1803 (1703 was the previous installation, and no issues there) Going back to 1703 is not an option, unfortunately. Attached is a screenshot of the BSOD - 
Code: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
What Failed: dump_storport.sys
 
I have:
Included the latest SCCM driver package in our repository and verified it is installing these drivers
Updated the BIOS to the most current (1.13?)
Manually downloaded and installed every driver on the "Drivers and support" page for this model, including multiple firmware flashes for every conceivable piece of hardware on the device
Run the disk cleanup utility to wipe away any trace of the previous 1703 install (windows.old)
 
Since we can't deploy like this, What can I do in order to get this fixed?

according to August edition, only some 45W and 65W adapters are compatibile? screencap on that section below.is there something special about Thinkpad X380 Yoga power input? we have users who have plugged in the old 90W ones and reported they do charge.[also the 135W (supposedly max to 90W? for power delivery?) come with Thunderbolt 3 dock, but that's different since it is via TB3/USB-C port, not the slim power port] we are curious, should we tell users to stop using the more powerful ones?  it is going to be bit hard to execute, we don't inventory those accessories, it will have to rely each personnel to check what they have (and quite a few bought separate ones for home)

Our company recently bought 2 x380 Yoga laptops. As our companys policy states that we need to encrypt all our laptop HDD/SDD.As encryption method our company uses McAfee drive encryprion DE 7.2.x. We didnt know that x380 Yoga by default uses Lenovo NVMe Opal SSD drives, which is way put encryption policy in use.  What we did:At first we discovered that SSD are encrypted using bitlocker, so we decrypted it. After that we deployed McAfee DE and successfully encrypted SSD. We confirmed encryption and did laptop restart. After restart laptop can no longer boot from SSD. Bios stops at choose boot device screen. We can see SSD in boot screen, but choosing disk does nothing, i assume it cant access to the boot sector. It looks like Opal SSD is locked. What can we do in such situation, Is there a way to unlock it? We dont need to preserve data on SSD.
