I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Which free offline password manager would you prefer (without cloud)?

I already use sticky password premium. Sticky password has improved its windows extensions with new graphical identifier for input fields. This has made it very easy to use and autofill works for all sites now.

But i want to know if KeePass is better, being a open-source & free. Does it's autofill works with every site?

Please share & help me decide.

Cyber criminals have started targeting the password managers that protect an individual's most sensitive credentials by using a keylogger to steal the master password in certain cases, according to research from data-protection company IBM Trusteer.
The research found that a configuration file, which attackers use to tailor the Citadel trojan for specific campaigns, had been modified to start up a keylogger when the user opened either Password Safe or KeePass, two open-source password managers. While malware has previously targeted the credentials stored in the password managers included in popular Web browsers, third-party password managers have typically not been targeted.
While the current impact of the attack is low, the implications of the attacker’s focus is that password managers will soon come under more widespread assault, Dana Tamir, director of enterprise security for IBM Trusteer, told Ars Technica.
“Once the malware captures this master key, then they can use that master key to exercise complete control over the machine and any of the user’s online accounts,” she said.

I have Win 7 Home Premium 64bit.

I've been having a couple issues with it, but recently after a couple failed startups (freezing just before Windows logo animation) and trying to repair it, NOW when I turn on my computer the boot manager comes up every time and it's annoying. How can I stop this from happening?

A little possibly relevant info - I used to have Win 7 RC installed on a different HDD, but then bought Win7 Home premium and installed it on a different HDD (and changed the boot order in the BIOS to boot from the new installation's HDD) It was working great for a while, but then started having startup issues (named above) and now this.

Thanks for any help!

There have been variations on this problem, but I have not seen one with these conditions.

I have a new installation of Win7 Ultimate, installed over WinXP, without reformmatting the drive.

I get Windows Boot Manager at startup giving me the options of Win7 or Microsoft Windows Recovery Consol.

Disc Management Boot Tab only shows Win7 - no Microsoft Windows Recovery Consol.

I want to clean start without Boot Manager - how can I do this please

Here is what happened: My laptop was overheating, so I disassembled it and cleaned out the dust buildup in the fan. I did not remove the GPU from its socket, I simply applied new thermal paste and reassembled the laptop. Note that in order to gain access to the fan I had to completely separate the motherboard with the GPU attached from the laptop case.

I turned on the laptop and it ran well. I checked for smoke, etc, and I was monitoring the CPU and GPU temperatures and they were normal. I began doing some internet browsing, and after a few minutes of that there was a BSOD. The STOP error codes are below:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.

Additional information about the problem:

BCP4: FFFFFA8018148BF0
OS Version: 6_1_7601
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 768_1

The computer restarted automatically and I tried looking up the code but could not determine the problem. The computer was still running so I thought it might have just been some temporary software issue. I did not realize that the computer didn't see the GPU anymore until I tried playing a video game which the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU could not handle. The game shut down, and I noticed that the nVidia notification icon was missing from my task manager. I checked the device manager and the nVidia card is not ... Read more

ipprism mate run Speccy and see what the temps are either you have not applied enough compound or tightened down the heat cooler setup and check to see if the fan is spinning mate and just as an afterthought did you clean out the rad when you did the clean up?

Shine a very bright light into the fan intake and then look into the exit vent you should see the light easily if not then it is clogged.

It sounds too simplistic but I had to ask.

A:Installing Firewall causes Task Manager to stop

FWIW:  Emsisoft is dropping Online Armor, see Here .  IMO, Comodo Firewall may cause system problems.
If it were me...I'd just use the Windows Firewall, as a test.  Then I would try Avira Internet Security, if I felt that I had to use Avira on my system.
Looking at your errors...I would suspect file corruption and/or missing system files may be a problem.  I don't like the fact that lack of a firewall seemingly allows normal system operation...if being unprotected is "normal".
In any case, I would run the chkdsk /r command...followed by running the sfc /scannow command...then see if system problem persists.

As the title says. After installing 8.1 on a new partition (same disk) it replaces Windows 7 boot loader and configuration.

Make a VHD and install it on that, but im thinking it will still overwrite the boot info.

I have an older Gateway Performance 1300 desktop that I inherited. There is a password on it that has to be put in before it will even go to setup. I assume it is a computer password rather than an XP password (running XP Home SP3) but I can find no way to turn it off. In the setup, it says supervisor password uninstalled, user password installed, and below it has places to put in both passwords. I guess if it is the user password, I could change it, but I see no way to turn it off. No one else uses the computer and there is no need for this password, it is just an aggravation.

Any help on how to turn it off would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have the owner/user manual?

You could also go here:

and enter the serial number on the back of the case. You may be able to download a manual there.

That model is over 10 years old, you may have difficulty finding support documentation.

The basic approach would be to reset the BIOS/CMOS jumper pin on the motherboard, IMO.

There are a few places where PW are stored. Since I'm not sure which one you are referring to, I will list them

1) For Windows Stored Application Passwords - Go To Your Control Panel, then Go into "Users". Choose a Username, then after you have selected a user, on the left side is a menu. Select "Manage My Network Passwords"

2) For Internet Explorer Passwords, Go to your Control Panel, then Select Internet Options. Then Select the Content Tab, then click on AutoComplete.

3) Or If it is a PW that is saved by a Cookie, delete your cookies. Go to your Control Panel, then Select Internet Options. General Tab, then click Delete Cookies.

Were one of those options what you needed?

OK- This is really driving me BONKERS! Something happened to my Password Manager. The passwords which used to come in automatically does not anymore! I have to put it in manually which my Password Manager used to control.

I'm using WINDOWS XP and my browser is Netscape 7.0(I also used Internet Explorer 6.0 to make sure it wasn't a browser problem and I got the same results).
In tools it shows that password manager is logged out. In the managed passwords section it shows all my passwords are still there. Out of 15 passwords 2 comes in automatically.

Someone has indicated to me that Password Manager is corrupted and has to be reloaded. Is that what I have to do? If so how do I do that? Also why is Password Manager shows I'm logged out? How can I log back in? I have tried every way possible to log back in but it doesn't give me that option. In preferences Managed Stored Passwords is checked so I know that is correct.

Any help would be appreciated!
