Bought as genuine new, possible fake 44+ battery

Q: Bought as genuine new, possible fake 44+ battery

Hi all - I recently purchased what I believed to be a genuine 44++ Lenovo 9 cell battery, however a few things have caused me to suspect it might not be genuine. When it arrived the sticker was loose as shown in one of the photos below, I thought Lenovo serial numbers had to be 22 characters and this only has 20? The batteries I can see under the loose sticker I believe are the correct type though for the model? So perhaps the sticker was just loose and the serial number is fine and I'm worrying over nothing. Any ideas anyone? I tried to contact Lenovo on Facebook but had no response, can't find a support email address and can't raise a new ticket as I don't have a working serial number to use. Thanks Tim

Preferred Solution: Bought as genuine new, possible fake 44+ battery

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Bought as genuine new, possible fake 44+ battery

This is a fake battery with no doubt. In general, we don't want to give public details why it's fake, so producers could possibly fix issues after.Anyway, from my recent experience, all of these are using LG or Samsung cells which are actually good and durable. Are you satisfied with battery life?If you purchased it on eBay, I advise you to contact the seller and ask for a full refund, especially if it was advertised as "genuine".In that way, after significant amount of refunds for "genuine" batteries, maybe we can impact that market.

Hi Community! I bought today a brand new unused, unopened genuine 44+ battery. It was cheap, around 70 $. After open, I have relaized it looks different: Different stickerBox is not the usualStatic bagYellow warning sticker top of the boxMisspelled warning message: "Use of another battery may present a fire or explotion."Here are my pictures: [link] (Power Manager images with 54 % charge are the new battery, with 97 % are the old battery)Another thing spotted, image later. You can see the black duck tape under the lenovo Logo. I scratched and i found a SANYO label. Under the Lenovo logo you also can spot a LG Chem logo. Now what? Tomorrow I will post an image. Somone from Lenovo can check me the serial? Thanks!!!

Hello !
Battery module for my Dell Inspiton 1721 is no more sold on internet dell store so I bought one on internet (french company)
It seems that there are differences between my old battery module and the new one (twice type GK479)
How can I know if it's an original Dell battery module ?
If I send barcode, serial number or photos of the battery a member of Dell support crew can check if it's a fake or not ?

I've been using a Dell inspiron 1545 from about 3 years now and exactly after 2 years of my buy, the battery failed and it started showing me to replace the battery and always notified me about contacting dell for a new battery.
I didn't take this of much concern so i just ignored the message and kept on using my battery with my adapter plugged in. After 4-5 months of such usage, My battery completely failed and doesn't even offer me even a minute of backup, when i remove the power socket. Then i realized the importance of a new battery and then bought a new battery from Dell.
Its the same battery with the same specs and also the same family type. After i removed my defected battery, I replaced my new bought Dell battery and realized that my battery is working fine. its charging well but at some time, it says "Plugged in, But not charging" Which is rare for any new battery, which is bought brand new.

This is how it looks now after i remove the AC adapter plug and when i depend on the battery backup. it is providing me a backup, but I see a yellow exclamatory mark beside it. Which I think should not be present. it also says "Low battery" when there's already 99% of battery left!
I've also followed some online steps
1) updated by BIOS to the latest  2) Followed some other steps like uninstalling the battery ACI in the device manager and etc...
i would love to get this problem solved. I'm using a PA-12 family adapt... Read more

A:Bought a new dell battery and still my laptop battery doesn't charge!

Hi Utkarsh. I Actually FIXED this problem months back. and I exactly want to help you on this so that you can fix it yourself too..
the problem which is creating your battery to show an exclamatory mark is your power settings.
so follow these steps to get rid of that sign and a perfectly working battery.
1) Click on your battery icon (left click) you should see an option called " More power options" at the bottom of the popup.
click "More power options"
2) Now you will be taken to your control panel where you can see all of your power plans and under each plan, you will see an option called "Change plan settings"
3) Click on "Change plan settings" for your active power plan. Now you will get redirected to another control panel window, where you can see two kind of power options to get adjusted. that is, when you battery is plugged and when your battery is unplugged.
4) Don't touch those options, just click on "Change advanced power settings" at the bottom left of that window. THIS IS THE AREA WHERE WE NEED TO FIX!
5)After you click on "Change advanced power setttings", you will see a POWER options popup, go to the bottom and then you can see something called "Battery" with a plus sign on the left. click it.
6) Now you just have to change the levels for the following values
--> Critical battery level ( you can change it to 10%)

I bought a used laptop via craigslist about 2 months ago. Its a Dell Latitude E6400. Anyways, the guy I bought it from had clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it, however, he gave me a selfburnt DVD and a hand written product key. This looked suspicious to me but he explained that he lost the Windows box while moving. He showed me that the windows was activated and all, and it being a good deal.. I took it

I have been using it for the past 2 months and no problems yet. Now I want to give this Laptop to my parents who live in another city and are not at all tech savvy, so I don't want that one day they call me up to tell me the Windows showing that it is not genuine. So can you guys tell if this is a genuine copy? If not, I have the OEM Vista that came with it and a Vista product key sticker behind the battery, and I can install that. But I don't want the hassle if Windows 7 is genuine.

Also what does the "Remaining Windows rearm count: 4"mean?

A:Bought a used laptop, is my Windows 7 Genuine?

First the rearm count in the registry shows if the 7 installation wasn't already activated you could extend the trial period. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-120-days.html

If you have checked for Windows updates during the last two months and they installed witout any program or prompting for the WGA the original disk the previous owner had was the genuine while the other... is considered "casual copying".(not the best situation for you) You may want to consider buying your own disk as far as that is concerned.

To save on price you can opt for an upgrade disk of the same edition since you are planning to pass the pc along. Refer to Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Hi all
I've just recently bought a Win7 Pro RETAIL; used from eBay.  The seller has good feedback, and I chatted a fair amount with him through eBay messages.  I have every reason to trust him, but in spite of that I would still like to check and be 100% sure that what I have is genuine and available for installation (not in use on another PC).
Does anyone have any tips as to how I can go about this?  Can I go to MS direct to check (I seem to remember reading that I can't, but am not totally sure)?  Any other ways...
Please note that for various reasons I won't bore you all with, I won't be able to actually use and install the OS for at least a couple of weeks....
Many thanks

A:Just bought Win7 Pro RETAIL - how to check it is genuine and not in use?

If this is a retail version and not OEM you should be able to download an iso file by inputting your key at the below page.
If the page accepts your key then you have a genuine Windows 7 key but it still does not tell you if it has been in use. You can call Microsoft Support but according to the below page they may not know until you try to activate.

going thru hell here...........the windows 7 enterprise that was installed by the retailer on my HD is now apparently not genuine. I thought it had activated when i hooked the computer up to the web, have not had any issues for over three months now....yet the other day i get the black screen, and the popup message "windows not genuine" every hour this was a from a sealed win 7 ultimate case! are the counterfits getting that good that they are duplicating the black packaging and printed disc labels? how the hell does one get REAL windows 7! anyone had issues with best Buy ripping them off this way?

A:even the store bought sealed windows 7's are not genuine?

If you went to a legit dealer and have a sealed pack. I think that you are ok.

MS has started a new validiation procedue, still has some bugs. Activate by phone, if the key does not work a rep will come on. Explain it to him

I just posted my problem with my card after a few months of use .. please read that thread below this.

However, searching thru the index here.. I realized that buying it a little cheaper from an ebay powerseller might not of been the best idea. I hopped over to 3dbeyond and ati's own website and realized .. the pictures they have of the 9800 pro doesnt look like the one in my computer. The fan/heatsink where the gpu lies is square/rectangular instead of being a rhomboid.. and the battery coils are placed differently..

My question is - since my computer registers it as a radeon 9800 pro.. can it still be a fake? Also, is it possible for the same models to have different versions of itself? Auuugh.. I got ripped ..

Can anyone recommend any decent cards to replace this one? Id like to stick with the same radeon line.. how bout buying a 9800 128 from a reputable dealer like newegg?

Thanks again for all your help - I feel so stupid :T

I bought a Windows 7 Pro (32 & 64 bit) full retail version thinking that it was the real thing (because everything about it looked like it was the real Microsoft product, plus it was sealed). When I installed it I tried to activate it at once and got the following message: "the product key you typed cannot be used to activate windows on this computer." Re-entered the product key several times just to be sure I typed it correctly, still the same message. I called Microsoft here in the Philippines (or probably their office in Asia) and the agent asked for the product key to be verified. Turned out it has already been used since 2012. The agent told me that there are counterfeits that could look as good as the real thing. She advised me to have it replaced or refunded. My problem is that I don't know if the store will allow it. I think I remember them saying they have a no refund policy. And if they replace it, it could very well be another counterfeit. Is there any way to hold them responsible? Thanks in advance for any help.

A:I bought windows 7 that looked genuine but turned out to be pirated

Try to return and refund it and say the key is already been used and show them proof, If they don't then you can go ahead and call OMB so you can have a talk with them about this.

Hey guys,

I understand i'm new here and haven't made any posts yet, but I am in dire need for some unofficial tech help!

Basically have been running an OEM version of Windows 7 64-bit on a custom built machine (Possibly bought this from Amazon or another online retailer)
Recently i disposed of the retail box but kept a backup of the serial code on my computer, as I moved into my University accommodation and didn't need it.

So I boot up my PC after having windows 7 installed for at least 8 months or so, and my desktop is black with "this copy of windows is not genuine" (build 7600).
I rang Microsoft for an explanation and after being moved through 3 departments I was asked for my serial code and was told I had to buy a new code as this code was "MSDN" or something and was counterfeit. I tried explaining to the guy that i bought my OEM license from a reputable retailer (like I said, I think it's Amazon or possibly Play.com) but the only answer he'd give me is to buy a new copy, or to contact the retailer directly, and refused to pass me up to a supervisor.

How the heck am I supposed to demand a refund for a product they supplied to me 8 months ago?? I'm about to call them now but was hoping for any advice at all if possible whether its a number to call or soemthing I can check on my PC.

I would be so grateful for the help!
Thanks guys,

Sorry just to clarify,I haven't installed my OEM serial on any other machine, or updated my motherboard! :/... Read more

A:Genuine bought OEM now "not genuine"

I would keep trying to get a supervisor on the line. The first tier of call center monkeys probably have to get approval from a supervisor anyway before they can tell anyone anything other than "buy a new key". It's possible that you were scammed into paying for a pirated or hacked windows disk. Some of the counterfeits I've seen pictures of can look legitimate until you compare them to the real thing, however, I think it's more likely that you ended up talking to a couple of douchebags who enjoy using what little power they have to ruin someone's day. Keep calling until you get someone with a little sense

A:I just bought a new Battery

I suggest that you go to www.dell.com/support enter your service tag number (on bottom side of the laptop) and download/save the manual for your particular computer.
I believe that the battery should be installed and charged for 24 hours before you try to operate the computer without the electricity connected. The manual will explain all of that.

Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong forum for this but I wasn't sure where to start this thread?

Anyway, I'm trying to work out whether I've purchased a ligitimate copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. The seller on ebay is adamant that it was bought at a branch of Currys in the UK. My suspicions were aroused when I noticed that the hologram on the 64bit disk can be peeled off (image5) - according to the microsoft website these holograms should be 'in' the disk and therefore should be seamless. The hologram on the rear of the 64bit disk has almost completely come off as well (image6). The hologram is intact on the rear of the 32bit disk (image7). I'm unfamiliar with COA's so don't know if this is genuine or not either (image2)?

I'm getting very strong feeling from the seller that they are adamant that this is a genuine copy and that they have even been in touch with Microsoft to make sure the key is usable (it was originally installed on a computer which is now not working and destroyed). Microsoft have said to them that the key is genuine. They also said that have the original receipts from Currys as well. I've looked through their ebay history and have a brilliant rating. The seller does seem genuine and are not trying to pull a fast one...

I am honestly confused and don't want to get into a huge argument with the seller if they are being absolutely honest.

I'm VERY confused

Not knowing much about computers, I have no clue how I need to proceed. I'd really like to wind up with a genuine copy of windows, because apparently auto update will not work without it. The computer works with non-genuine copy of windows, but is extremely slow and has to be hard booted to turn off and besides, I don't want to fool with an illegal copy of Windows.  Certainly I'd rather have Ultimate but Home Premium is good enough.
But don't I have to have the disk to run windows 7 Home Pr. Setup?
Any possible options greatly appreciated.

A:bought used computer, Win7 "not genuine", Win7 product sticker on case

You're needing to find a Windows 7 Home Premium ISO from a well-known well-respected source.  If you ever want Ultimate, you're going to have to purchase a license, either for an OEM or for a Microsoft 32/64 pack.  After you have legalized the Home Premium, you probably can purchase an upgrade [from Home Premium to Ultimate] for a pretty good price, make sure of your source!  You want a legal version of Ultimate.

Good afternoon all,

I have been in the process of making my laptop, a Lenovo Thinkpad T410, a much better device to use. While I've been having HDD issues, my main issue right now is the battery that I had purchased. With the IBM Power Manager software, the battery is listed as a Sanyo 42T4710. It is a 9 cell battery and I will provide any other information you need.

When I had first purchased the device, after charging for awhile the battery icon on the laptop would begin to flash amber. It will not charge to 100%, and usually stops at 96%. With the battery manager, the charge threshold is set to "Always Full Charge (Start when below 96% and end at 100%). I tried to run the battery gauge reset option, however the laptop permanently stayed at 96% and never discharged lower than that.

Are there any recommendations that you can make for what I should do with the battery?

I have a new battery for my Dell Latitude E6530 because I had began receiving messages on the screen that the original battery was starting to experience decreased life.  The new battery appears nearly identical, but did not come in a Dell box.  I have been trying to search to see if there is a way to determine if this replacement is indeed an authentic Dell battery, but haven't found anything.  Does anyone know how to verify the authenticity before I install this in my laptop?

I purchased a replacement 70++ battery from a third party for my T530.  It came in a box with Lenovo tape on it, but I was concerned when I compared the information on the new battery to the old one.  The new one has min. 7690mAh and says Li-ion 20 versus the old one saying min. 7950mAh and Li-ion 00.  Is there a way to make sure the battery is genuine?  The s/n on the box brought up the right product number on the lenovo site, but that number isn't anywhere on the battery itself.  Also, the barcode number on the battery doesn't correspond with any numbers on the box it came in.  I'm concerned about putting it into the computer until I can gain some insight or verify the battery's authenticity.  Can anyone help?

A:70++ Battery, not sure if genuine

I cannot be sure, but I am concerned that the serial number isn't on the battery.  It normally is.  I would contact the seller.  I liked things better when the fakes really looked like fakes.

I have just purchased a replacement battery for my X220 as the current 44++ battery was down to around 50% of its original charge.  However I have read quite a few posts mentioning that there are a large number of fakes out there so I just wanted to run this past the experts to see if my battery is indeed genuine or a crafty counterfeit. Mine came in a Lenovo branded box and to my eyes looks genuine. The only thing that concerns me (and lead to this research) was the fact it states "Use of another battery may present a fire or exportion".  However reading other threads this actually may be a genuine typo. Photos available at: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AvPybbu3LYv0kkBstGx2ShsHOOqE Thanks in advance! Howard

A:is Battery genuine?

It's a Dell part number and is genuine if purchased from Dell or a Dell authorized parts seller.  Anywhere else -- ask the seller.
6-cell in a 15.6" notebook will run anywhere from about 2 to 4 hours depending on power management settings, CPU type and screen resolution.

I've bought a replacement battery from ebay recently, told to be genuine, but I've read that the 2nd block of letters and numbers show the part no., and I couldn't find anything using mine. Could you confirm it please, if it's a Dell one?
KR-049VTIP-83620-28S-CISF-A01 is the serial of it.

A:Is my new battery genuine?

If it was purchased from Dell, it's genuine.  Otherwise, ask the seller.  That product ID's date code indicates the battery was built 2012 -- so if it is original Dell, it's been sitting on a shelf for a while - or is used.

Hi Anyone has a suggestion on where to buy x1 carbon 2nd Gen genuine battery And why are they the most expensive of all

A:where to buy x1 carbon 2nd Gen genuine battery

Looks like you will have to go third party to get one.  I understand what I'm about to write is a bit insensitive and not helpful but his is the problem with mobile devices the lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries only have a useful life span of five years from the date of manufacturing.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with Battery of type: RN873, Rating: 11.1V, Capacity 56Wh.

Currently this battery is not available in the market and whenever I purchase online for a battery of Inspiron 1525, I am getting battery of different type, Capacity 48Wh. Can you help me to get an genuine dell battery?

Please would appreciate your help. Thank you!

A:Need and genuine DELL 1525 BATTERY

For a genuine Dell battery you'll pay $80-100 -- consider carefully spending that on a system that has a resale value of between $50-75 on the used market (in other words, you'll be spending more on the battery than the system is worth).
