DVD Drive Stuck And Freezing Stuff

Q: DVD Drive Stuck And Freezing Stuff

I reinstalled Windows 7 64-bit a couple days ago, and I inserted a disc into the drive recently, but now the drive won't open through anything and freezes anything and everything that touches it(Device Manager, Windows Explorer, Avira, Safe Mode even is affected)

Is there some way to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area.

Edit: It finally let me access it, but I still don't know what was/is wrong...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So here's my deal.
Somehow I got two Windows Xp on my computer. I don't know how but I am able to choose which one to go to when the cpu starts up. The top one I usually use for the internet and misc. while I use the bottom one for video editting. It has worked for me just fine for almost 2 years. I have had minimal problems.
But, just the other day I was restarting my computer the appropriate way to log onto my other windows. The next thing I know my monitor doesn't even read the fact that it should be turned on. The monitor acted like it was in sleep mode. I fiddled with the wires and restarted both the monitor and cpu a few times. The monitor would said there was nothing plugged in for a breif second and then go back to sleep mode. I finally decided to give it a while and turned it all off.
I came back a day later and turned it on and everything was working fine. I decided to resart and get on my other windows and the same damn thing happened. I turned it off and came back an hour later and got on the Windows I wanted to get on and it acted just fine. It wasn't but about 10 minutes into and the cpu completely froze up. I restarted and went back to that same windows and it took about 20 minutes before it froze again. I restarted yet another time and then the monitor did the thing again where it slept.
So today I brought a different monitor in to make sure it wasn't the monitor. Thankfully, it's not beacuse it did the same thing. Now within... Read more

A:Computer freezing and stuff

Before you go any further, I'd suggest throwing your hard drive in a friends computer and backing up your stuff. I'm thinking it could be a heat problem, at least to start. When it goes into sleep mode, do the fans still run? Do you have a PC speaker in your case, does it make any noise? Try and download the drivers you are missing and drop them in when you hook it up to a friends computer. This is just a shot in the dark however, it could be a hardware issue...

Alright my comp hasnt been running well lately, its been pretty slow, and every time i got to task manager i see stuff like EXTRATEST.exe running taking up processing speed the it will dissapear, then come back, ive tried running many antivirus's and things like ad aware, but it still goes slow then today I used something called pest control, and later i was on the internet and a blue screen came up saying the computer needs to shut because of a problem and it did. So when I restarted it said on the internet after sending my error report that it was probably caused by a driver but it doesnt know which one, then my computer froze about 5 mins later, i could still move my mouse but do nothing so after ten minutes I turned off the comp. then it kept doing the same thing when I was logging on, and I'd press reset and it would say "Invalid disk in drive blah blah blah to continue then press any key, I assume its talking about my HD. I barley logged on now, if anyone could help me i would greatly appreciate it.

My computer seems to have trouble starting. Sometimes the screen just doesn't turn on despite the fact that I can hear that the computer is on. I've had troulbe with Vundo before and was wondering if this was a similiar more severe case of that. Except now I can't even get to Windows with out a complete shut down or crash. I'm beginning to wonder if this is a hardware or software issue. I've tried unplugging different parts of the copmuter and starting it that way, but it all seems inconsequential. Either way the effect is the same. I also tried to clean out all the dust I could, and still no cigar, although the computer seems not as hot now...

Anyway, that is the problem so far. I'm pretty confused about this one. And I appreciate any time and help that could be lended. Thanks.

Ive had this problem on two or 3 diffrent O/S installs on my PC
The Problem:
Some days i will for instance be typing an email in my yahoo email or on a fourm site and typing but nothings showing up until i scroll the page some then it shows up but is ehhh well i guess sticky would be the word and things just act or seem weird, i keep thinking someones hacking me so.
What ive done and checked:
No Malware i run a registered version of Malware bytes, NIS, CCleaner, tune up utillities and i keep an eye on my network activity as well as sometimes leave my task manager open and watch for any new processes or anything that might be clogging me up. i dont run any toolbars except the NIS one and ive checked everything with hijack this as well and no issues.
What ive accepted:
This is IE9 right?

So i guess i am the only one with this issue???
Still does it, did it a few times today, the browser pretty much freezes up and stutters as if something in the background is hogging all the resources but i do not have anything doing that, Then when i type its not showing up, i cant type for ten mins and see nothing untill i scroll the window a bit then it all the sudden shows up. hmmmmmmm! Well thanks for all the help guys! Ha!

Computer freezing randomly

My computer freezes when I watch videos on youtube or play games or things like that, but it doesn't freeze when I read my mails, write mails, go to this forum, or just not doing anything, ... It just occurs when I watch vids or play games like I already said.
I really don't know what cause this could have, I already checked my computer for viruses and used a registry cleaner a few times which fixed all the errors (about 1400...). This also occurs when I do those things offline. The computer doesn't freeze right away when I start a game or watch a vid. It happens between 20 seconds-10 minutes (or rarely 15 minutes max). When it happens, my screen just freezes, the sound also stops and I hear a weird noise for a fraction of a second. The only thing I can do after that is reboot... I've had this problem for like 3-4 weeks now and it's really getting annoying and it just suddenly started one day.

EDIT: It's getting worse, my computer just froze while typing in google... , seems to be freezing more random now.
Ok now it froze again and this time when it froze it began a looooooong beep, continiously. Not from my stereo but from my computer itself like when it boots up but then it's a short beep now it was continious . I think my computer is going mad!

Can someone please help me and tell me how to fix this?

A:Computer freezing when doing stuff on the internet

First, we here at TechSpot do not endorse the use of Registry cleaners/fixers because they cause more harm than good.

Second, Start > Run > Chkdsk > Okay. When it gets to stage 2 does it say "Recovering Lost Files"?

Third, that Long Beep sounds like a BIOS beep code which points to the hardware cauusing problems. What BIOS does your motherboard utilize? It will be listed in your motherboard manual.

A couple months after I got my computer, it began to become very slow. Being an impatient person, I hard rebooted a couple times. Eventually it went into The black screen where it says "checking disk for consistency". Being an impatient person,y dad and I chose to just re install my whole computer. And then it was fine.

Until a month later when it began having the same issues. This time, I hard rebooted a couple times until it went into "Checling disk" again. After googling, I let it run through and it took a couple of hours but it worked. And them it was fine, until a week later t became extremely slow, shut down, and went into Startup Repair. It began fixing hard drive errors and took several hours to complete, but it did. And it was fine

A week later my computer again has begun freezing up. When I start it up in the mornings, it takes a long time on "Starting Windows" and then goes to a black screen with a cursor. Then waits for a long time before going into he login screen, I login and it takes a long time to begin to function. Then it starts to freeze up, I hard rebooted, and it happens again.

Oh, and whenever I get the rare moment my computer is functioning I run Norton full scans/ CCcleaner.

A:Constant Freezing/weird stuff with Computer

This sounds like a hard disk problem. First, are you able to get anything Windows related to start? Can you get to the Advanced Boot Options menu? If so, select Repair Your Computer.

Then, use the System Recovery Options to choose Command Prompt.

Do the following:chkdsk /r c:
chkdsk /r d:
chkdsk /r e:
chkdsk /r f:.etc until you get the message that the volume could not be opened for direct access. For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run chkdsk again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

I realize you may only have one disk show up in Windows explorer, but you may have more than one disk through recovery options. This is because the system creates a hidden boot partition (which will be C: in recovery), you may have a recovery partition for your PC that is hidden (which will be D: in recovery), and you will have your primary Windows partition (which may be E: in recovery). A custom PC will likely have at least C: and D: to scan.
I would also suggest running the short and long tests with SeaTools for DOS.

Hi guys.So recently my Lenovo Y700 fell from like 1 meter height on its top left corner on linoleum. The overall damage wasn't too bad but now I have two problems with my screen. One is a pretty noticeable backlight bleed in the top left corner (don't think the pics are needed). The other problem is a bit weirder. You can look at it here. Basically there is a bunch of small particles that kind of look like dead pixels from distance but in fact aren't. I honestly have no idea what they are. I can't seem to do anything with them by applying pressure. They don't even slightly move. The only thing that happens when I put pressure on them is that they appear to be bigger.Does anyone here have an idea of what it might be and if it's possible to fix it? I bet my basic warranty is void now  because of slight cosmetic (and apparently not only) damage so I would like to fix it myself.Btw, I can't seem to find any information on manual screen replacement regarding this laptop. Is the bezel glued to the glass? The screen looks very much like Y50-70 Touch model but this one is Non-Touch.Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Y700 fell pretty bad, weird stuff stuck between the screen and the glass

From the looks of it, it doesnt look like a damage to the lcd but more like liquid drops or, most probable, air bubles. The Y700 has an antiglare film applied on the screen. Maybe the drop caused a part of the film to detach from the lcd causing air bubles? Or it could be just dirt. The LCD itself seems to work just fine.
Backlight bleed occurs because of the extra pressure the lid now does towards the LCD panel after the drop
The Hardware Mainteance Manual for Y700 can be found here:

Well, i built up my pc around 2 months ago (with help from specialists, they advised me,they put it together) . Everything is PERFECT ,pc is very powerfull (performant) ,except .....perfection doesnt exist..1st of all,the temperatures are about 44 degrees on everything (while in idle) and it may go to 60 (max 65 ) when in load for a long time .

Well, the PC started freezing (everything got "locked" ,couldnt move mouse, keyboard not responding, everything and also there is sound loop ,1 second repeating itself till i restart the pc ) 2 weeks after i got it home, once freezing while i was playing (ok,i thought it was the temperature) ,once while i mounted a iso (happened twice, thats how i found out it was the mounting of the iso that caused it ) and another time (about 20 minutes ago) when i was watching a tv show episode ,that can also be called idle, cause it doesnt rly ask for much.

And the 2nd problem, yesterday i shut down my pc,go to sleep ,after about 10 hours ,i start it back again ,it stood at loading about...2-3 minutes ,after that it shown me the windows xp booting screen (when it shows the bar that loads the windows) ,the duration of loading was as always,a few seconds, but then the screen went black for about...2-3 minutes and THEN it started my windows. My dearly beloved grandaughter has enough itunes on my computer to choke a fat brandleader. When I roughly add up the space that itunes say her itunes files (or folders?) use it's about 3.2 GB.

I have done some of the simple stuff, like the IE maintenance programs and CCleaner, and I am wondering what most of the used space contains. Is there any good way to find out so I can decide if I can get rid of some of it?

And how much might it help to increase the 768 MB physical memory?

Since last Monday, my laptop's been through its fourth at Knowhow's facilities. I was anxious to play games like Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Gmod again, but after a minute or two of gameplay, they would both freeze. From there the screen would turn black, turn back on at full brightness, and allow me to play for a few seconds before looping the process again. The only way I could stop this was by 'Alt-F4'-ing my way out of the game, which would allow me to change my brightness.

At first, I tried updating the drivers as that could have helped, though, instead, made no difference. From there, I proceeded to do an 'express' uninstall of the drivers and anything else associated, restarted, installed the driver only, and restarted again. No success. I even tried Red Faction: Guerilla, only to be met with the same results. Weirdly, though, 2D games like Hexcells, Prison Architect and Speedrunners run flawlessly!

I'm using the 14.12 Omega drivers, according to the Raptr app.

A:Help transferring old stuff to new hard drive

you can find a lot of freesoftware able to copy partitions, clone partition and/or drives. But first of all, you have to save your datas. I'm not writing about your game, but about the documents, emails, contacts, passwords, connection settings, pictures, videos. This is usually the first thing to do also if you didn't think about, because after any disaster people remember to have had something very important unsaved and it could be too much late...

After that you can think to clone or to copy your system to another drive. I'm not sure that it is possible at this time with vista but it should be possible.

I have acquired a "new computer" - Compaq Deskpro with Windows XP. In loading some of my old programs that I had on my old computer, C Drive is showing about one 3" floppy drive space remaining. I went to Windows Explorer and moved (copied) programs to another drive with adequate space. Shortcut on desktop relates to new drive. HOWEVER, I now cannot delete program from C Drive. I think it would releive the crowding if I could eliminate a partition between C & D. What do I do!? I don't have the restore disk for this computer yet.

A:C Drive overcrowded. Need to MOVE stuff!

Copying the programs would not serve you the purpose of making some space. Neither changing the short cuts would help your programs to function all times.
You gotta uninstall programs and re-install them. When re-insalling software you have to change the default C:\Program files\... to D:\Program files\ (You can just change the drive factor and most of the installers are wise enough to create new folders)
II. Move the target of your "My documents" to a new folder on your second partition (say D:\)
III. Always try to leave min 5-10 gb free space on your root drive (c:\) so that operating systems like Windows 2000, XP would perform faster.

All the best

Dear and omnipotent folks,

Since I have a problem with my pc being too full with stuff I recently purchased an external Hard Drive (Iomega hdd 1 thera byte), and wanted to move some things from my computer to that hard drive!

But I sincerely don't know what to move or how!

Which folders are important and can't be moved? Which ones can I just put on the HDD?

And also is there a good program that can do all this moving fancy shmancy or do I have to copy and paste?

Thank you very much folks!

A:Moving Stuff from PC to Hard Drive

You certainly don't need to use a special program to do it. Cutting and pasting will work fine, but you are the only one who can really answer your own questions. What is filling up your drive? If it is user data, then create folders on your external for Photos, Music, etc and then copy those files to those folders. You didn't really give us enough to go on, or to even give much of an answer. You can't just cut and paste random folders, as some that are related to Windows and applications won't function once they are moved.

Find out what is filling up your space, and go from there. I'd start with moving my user created data.

A:Screen Going black- freezing or stuck when logging off/switching users

Slow shutdown/User log off can be a result of little ram, or frag. This was also a commom issue even with 4GB of ram prior to SP1.

Try defragging.

Are you using reg cleaners, or using any media extenders? (i.e., Xbox)

If it is a desktop you may want to see If it is using "Away mode", or "prevent idling to sleep" mode (this is common for extenders).

I just received a new hard drive from Dell today (I'm running a Dell XPS M1530, and it has been plagued with hardware problems since the one month limited return warranty expired)

My computer is now running Vista again, and it is stable. However, there are a couple of (large) problems.

1. Most importantly, I do not have ANY Microsoft Office programs. This includes Word and Excel, the only ones that I really use. I can't run Excel programs either.

2. My MediaDirect disk won't install. I used it to reinstall MediaDirect on my old hard drive before it died on Sunday, and it worked then. It says "Initializing...", gets to 4%, then says "Installation errors". I need this for my Fingerprint logins and the nice (albeit sometimes annoying) toolbar at the top of the screen. There are no significant marks on the disk (there's a tiny tiny fingerprint, that's it).

Can someone help me out here? Thanks in advance

hey guys, i was just wondering if there is any type of protection i can add to a file on an external drive if someone connects it to their machine and then deletes it? it's a truecrypt container with all my work on it. what would prevent someone from just deleting it?

A:Anyway to prevent people from deleting stuff on my drive?

The short answer is nothing prevents them doing that. All the password protection in the world wouldn't prevent them putting physically that drive beyond use with an angle grinder if they got hold of it and wanted to delete your work out of malice . For that reason, I suggest a decent safe for the careful protection of the external drive.

I'm going to install a new hard drive on my Dell Dimension 4400 to increase the storage capacity. What is the simplest way to copy the files and operating systems to the new drive? Is additional software necessary?

A:Hard-drive Upgrade: How To Move Stuff?

Most hard drives come with software that will clone one drive onto another drive. If the software does not comes with the drive you can download it for free from the manufacturer of the hard drive.

You can also install the new drive as a secondary hard drive and continue to use your original drive.

Hello mike and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'd take a look at the suggestions in this tutorial on how to free up hard drive space.

Deleting the wrong thing can render your computer useless. Make a system image just in case something goes wrong.

I'm running Windows XP, and everytime I try to delete stuff off my desktop, I get an error that says my hard disk is full (it isn't) or is locked (it isn't). Furthermore, my validation keeps failing (the OS was loaded from the factory), I can't run some programs (Windows Media Player, QuickTime, HijackThis, maybe a few others), and the computer takes eons to start up. Can someone help me out here? I'm about ready to throw the computer into the wall and go Office Space on it.

Recently, my windows 10 anniversary update has either been freezing just after booting or is stuck on black screen after installing AMD Crimson. Even after rollbacking to version 16 from 17, it's not working. But when uninstalled or disabled, everything is working fine. How should I fix this problem? My graphics chipset is Radeon r9 m375 and my laptop is Lenovo Z51-70.

i have a sata and an ide drive and want to remove the ide.
the initial drive was an ide. 13gig, about 5 yrs old now.

heres what i did

booted up into original os got the drivers for the sata controlers for the mobo. put them onto a floppy and restarted with the windows 2k disk in, f6, installed drivers and installed an os on the sata. (160gig. made a 30 gig partition which is the os one.) alls goodish

when i restart i get dual boot options. for the 2 versions of win2k, i can boot into either with no probs. so next i try unplugging the ide. however the sata will not pick up on boot.

when in windows, in manager. c: the ide has (system) whilst the sata partition D: with the new clean install has (boot) i would like to get rid of the old HDD as the psu is only 350w and the HDD bay is small so the 2 drives are rigth next to each other and seem to be getting too hot.

im off to format the remaining 120Gig E:
hopefully some1 will know what im doing wrong by the time i get back from tesco

Oh. the mobo is a k7n2 delta, cant see where or how to set the sata as boot/system disk from there. and used automatic in the fastrack raid utility.

hope u can help lil old me, my girlfriend is getting impatient, she wants to play WOW.

The issue described in this post does not affect the operating system, but more to do with a software issue. Therefore, I apologise if this thread would have been better placed in another section of the forum.

A friend informed me that he ran 'Barts Stuff Test 5' to check is his hard drive for errors, after noticing an error message upon startup stating an a hard drive failure is imminent and now has a virtually full hard drive.

To the best of my knowledge this is caused by the manual allocation of the stress test being set at 3% (those who are familar with this program will understand what I mean by this). However, he did not create an restore points and now wishes to undo this.

Are you aware of any way to do so? - In order to clear space on the hard drive?

Many thanks,

Today, I ordered a larger-capacity hard drive for my Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop. I don't think I should have a problem switching out the two hard drives. The question is, how can I transfer what I have on the drive I have now to the drive to the drive that I'm going to get? I am thinking that what I will need to do will be to install Windows XP from my Dell discs and then install the a Acronis True Image Home program that I have. Then I will need to install the backed up information that I have from the old hard drive to the new hard drive. Is this correct? Thanks for any and all responses.

Like you know how people take videos of games they play and feed it into their PC so it is on there? What do I need... and what kind of stuff is possible? Could I transfer a tape from a VCR? A DVD? Or just games? Give me all the information you can because I know nothing about any of this.

How expensive would this be? I hope not too much... If it is something that is selling software with it, but thats what makes it expensive, tell me the way to get it without the software so it is cheaper. I have plenty of video editing programs and stuff, I just need to get the stuff there.

A:So give me URLs, names of products, stuff I need to get stuff from TV to PC...

I believe the name of what I am looking for is a capture cable, that takes whatever is displayed on the screen and saves the video on the computer.

Hi Guys,

I need help with this situation:

I've cloned a 1GB CF with XP embedded and image it onto a 2GB CF, but the new 2GB CF is getting stuck while booting.

The boot process would get stuck somewhere within in "PCI device listing... " .

Obviously, it seems like the system doesn't like the boot disk size change, but I don't know how to fix this.

Can someone help me resolve this?

Hey guys, I've been having a very serious problem lately. I'm in the middle of working, and suddenly, my hard drive goes" click, clock....click clock, click clock. Then my mouse freezes and I have to flip the switch on my computer to turn it off. Then, when I reboot, it says "no drive found", so I wait like 3 minutes, then boot again, and all is fine about another hour. Then the same thing happens..... click clock...freeze.

Now, there are a few factors to consider. My computer did this one time in 2004 (when I left it on for 3 days straight of Maya rendering) and hasn't done it again til about a month ago. Recent things that I have done since it happened was:

1.) Increase my page file size to 3.5GB (and add the "/3GB" line to my boot.ini) (also note, my page file is on my Slave hard drive on it's own 5GB partition at the beginning of the drive. It's split up a bit (cuz of the MFT). Prior, I had my page file set to 1.5GB (and it wasn't split at all) on it's own partition on my slave. No problems.

2.) I arranged my physical arrangment in my case of drives, my Master was on top and Slave just below it. Mind you, I have 11 fans in my case, two on the rear, two on the side, two in front (blowing direct over the HDDs) one on top, two on the PSU, one on both the CPU and GPU, so my PC is well cooled. It's also very much OUT IN THE OPEN under my large desk, so nothing is blocking airflow (except maybe the desk about 5... Read more

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 531S Vista Home Premium, and all of a sudden my CD rom drive won't open. There's a Sims 2 CD in the drive, but when I went to play the game the PC wasn't recognizing the disc. The E drive is no longer listed in My Computer, with the C and D Drives. I'm not very computer savvy, so I hope someone can help me with this problem. Thanks in advanced.

I posted this in wrong forum, in "security". So, I am re-posting it here.
Hello, I would appreciate help fixing my PC. System: Toshiba C75D-B7300, Windows 8.1. For a few weeks the pc was running slow. It would freeze frequently. Initially the mouse would be stuck for a while and then resume. It was like every keystroke took several
minutes to execute. Then it started freezing to the point where i had to restart to get out of it. Then it became so frequent that it became impossible to use the PC. The problem existed both in normal mode and in safe mode.

I have not installed any new programs before this began. I tried restoring to previous date, but it said "failed".
So, I looked up solutions on line and tried them. scannow, chkdsk, etc. (scheduled at restart) The results showed "errors were found, some errors could not be fixed". Every method I found on line I tried. After one of the methods, and I believe
it was some version of scannow.exe  with several alphanumeric /. After running that, the PC is stuck in a "automatic repair loop". The PC has been on for two days and I can see the windows go through  "preparing to do automatic repair",
"repairing disk errors: this may take over an hour" etc over and over for two days. Finally I turned the PC off from the power button. Then restarted the PC. Now I am unable to go to the start options to get into safe mode (it did before this loop)
and it goes ... Read more

All right. My mother has a moderately old PC [Compaq/HP with a 1.8 gig AMD] and apparently for over a month, her CD drive has been inoperable. Actually, it runs. It just won't open. The button works to close the door, but not to open it. For that, I've gotta jam a paperclip in the hole and push the button - simultaneously. As I said, it reads just fine.
I got creative and made a file that functions as follows:

Dim WMP: Set WMP = CreateObject("WMPlayer.ocx")
Dim colCDROMS: Set colCDROMS = WMP.CDROMCollection

If colCDROMS.Count > -1 Then
For i = 0 to colCDROMS.Count - 1
End If

It worked!
... Once.
So, short of replacing the drive, does anybody have a suggestion?

Is it possible for a CD to slip off the vertical drive and fall into the drive? I'm using a vertical Dell PC, inserted the disk, but when I opened the drive, the CD wasn't there. Without taking apart the PC, I used a flashlight to see if I could see the CD, and I can't. But, is it possible for the CD to have fallen off the drive and remained inside the secured drive? Another CD was put in and read by the computer with no problems, and the drive continues to open and close.

A:CD stuck in drive

Try and put a little more of a descriptive title to your posts "Help" is not a proper title. Something like "CD Stuck" would be much better. Anyway, welcome to TechSpot...

When a CD drive is mounted vertically there are tabs on the CD tray that should be positioned so that they will hold the vertical CD in place. If the CD drive opens and closes fully, there is no CD caught inside the drive. I suspect that the CD drive is faulty. The only way to check this is to remove the CD drive and remove it's cover. Have a computer savvy friend or a computer shop take care of this for you. It should take 15 minutes or so

I wanted to transfer some photographs which I had in "Pictures" in drive (C)to a Read/Write CD in drive (E). As I did, it asked me something about "thumb" (I can't remember exactly what) and since the "yes" button was highlighted, I pushed that.

After it was all loaded onto the CD, I checked it, but the pictures - though listed - did not come up.

I then decided to delete the folder on the CD, and for some reason was able to delete all but one of the files (photos) in that folder; that one single file (photo) is stuck in there and refuses to be deleted. When I try to delete or remove the folder, it says "cannot remove folder; the directory is not empty".
When I try to erase the whole CD, using DirectCD Format Utility, it says "there are still open files or applications running from the CD in drive (E).
Nor can I eject the CD (using the same utility); it says "unable to lock the volume. Explorer or another program is currently copying or accessing files on the CD".

So, how can I remove the CD from drive (E)?

It contains the thumbnail images of the pictures in the folder. Used by windows.

restart your computer - there are stubborn processes that will only give up on restart.
