Is my security camera/Iphone (while on wi-fi) being hijacked ?

Q: Is my security camera/Iphone (while on wi-fi) being hijacked ?

I've been having trouble with my ATT internet for a year or more. The internet download speed frequently drops to almost nothing (.53 or 1.23 Mbps) where it should be about 19-22 Mbps. They've been out here troubleshooting the line , changing
modems, and telling me whatever falls out of their mouth. So today I was looking in the ATT settings and system info. There I came across the event log which is difficult for me to decipher, but I do know what hijacked means. I'm most concerned with my security
camera (Stem-services) and my iphone being compromised. Here are some of the log entries. maybe someone can help me understand if something is going on. Thanks

Preferred Solution: Is my security camera/Iphone (while on wi-fi) being hijacked ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have some questions about smartphone security, specifically the difference between the Android & iPhone platforms. My motivation is curiosity. I am not using this information to decide which phone to purchase (I use a Tracphone).

Reading several articles on various web sites, I get the impression of the following:
(1) Android is less secure than iPhone
(2) There is no known malware for iPhone

Are these statements true? Is there any hard data that documents malware for the different platforms?

Anti-malware software: There appears to be several products for the Android, but I cannot find any product for the iPhone. Is this discrepancy due to Apple's superior security technology?

A:Android vs iPhone security

I am not a Apple expert (because I think it sucks) but there is no malware for Apple, so they have no anti-malware programs. The reason is that is open source and all members who use it can fix any problems.

I am running Win7/Pro x64. My System Spec is in my Profile.

I do not have iTunes installed on my desktop. I do have an iPhone 5, a hand-me-down from my son.

Yesterday the phone needed to be charged. I attached it to a USB port. I was asked by the phone if I trusted my desktop. I said yes. I was told that there were no new images on the phone to import, a fact I already knew. I've encountered this dialog before. It seems to be part of the procrustean Apple way of computing.

What troubles me is that a process started about the time I plugged in the phone. At a rate of 5-10 files/sec the 'modified' date was changed on over 3,500 jpg files on my data drive. I've not analyzed the order in which they were processed but suspect that it was A-Z on the file names and also on folder names.

Could this behavior result from iTunes running its 'sync' process? If so, is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again?

If we have no Apple OS experts on this forum, does anyone know of an 'Apple forum' that is as respected as sevenforums is in the Windows world?

Due to recent vandalism of my car, I'm thinking of buying a security camera to be kept pointed at my vehicle. The main parking lot is out of sight, but there is a small section of parking visible from my apartment. However, it is ~100 feet from my balcony, and since I have never had a security camera, I'm wondering if any of them are designed to zoom, so as to make a person's features more identifiable? For the camera to be useful, it would need to have night vision. How much would that interfere in identification?

I'm also wondering if any of these have the ability to sound an alarm when motion is detected?

A:Security Camera

There are many options available to you to achieve this, depending as always on the depth of your wallet.

You may wish to look at a wireless IP camera, these may be found with LED and IR night vision and can be set using software to activate and record on detection of motion and to alarm at the recording device, (your PC). if it is not possible or safe to mount the wireless camera then most will have basic zoom capabilities and some will have telephoto google "wireless IP cameras" for ideas.

I have a router right now. I want to put a security camera outside, but all my hardware is downstairs. It would be very hard to use an Ethernet connection. So, would it be good to put a router in my garage as an access point, and then direct connect a camera?

I may be wrong here, but I think what you might want is a bridge. It would be like an access point to bring a signal out to the garage, and then wire into the camera.

Think the teacher is the one that needs to do the reserch on it as it is not true. Sony came out with the video cameras that could see very very good when it was very dark and some how then others started saying you could see tru what people were wearing and it was like x-ray vision.

I have been using these Buffalo TeraStations as my back up file storage. I have had 2 of the die in the last month. One had a defective hard drive, it was about 7 years old, and due for replacement, not enough space. The other was only a few years old and the system had a hardware problem. Data was OK, but unit is defective. (it was diagnossed by their tech support).

I also need to replace an old Intellex Security Camera DVR that is still running windows 2000 and the proprietary software is not compatible with Vista.

I was thinking of putting together a new PC that could handle both jobs.

Here are my thoughts.

2 - 1.5TB Drives for Video Storage - in Raid 0

2 - 1.5TB Drives for Data Storage - in Raid 0

or combine all 4 drives in Raid 10 and then use part for data and part for video.

I have a wireless camera set up in my house to check on the dogs. I can see the feed in my network fine. I want to access it outside the network.

I set up an account with afraid.org for a free dns service.

I went rummaging around my router pages looking for settings.
I found the camera as a device, with a dns entry and mac address showing under connected devices.

I don't know what to look for from here.

On the afraid.org site when I'm logged in I have a little box that shows the domain/subdomain I set up on mooo.com under "dynamic update candidates".

In my router settings I see a 184 IP address as the WAN address. I also see this same IP address pop up if I click to update the above link on the afraid.org site.

What am I missing? My ISP got me intot he router but won't go any further and I'm lost.

A:Help me with Security Camera Feed?

When you say your ISP got you into the router, do you mean into their combination modem and router or do you have a separate router connected to the modem?

The following assumes you have a combination single device modem/router.

You first need to have the camera use a static IP address on your LAN. One way this can be done by setting it's IP address to one that is within the sub-net range of the router, but outside of the DNS range configured in the router. Another method, if supported by the DNS on the router, is have the DNS reserve a specific LAN IP address to the MAC Address of the camera.

You then need to set up port forwarding on the router so that incoming connection requests from the Internet to specific ports, get passed to the ports on the camera. You will need to check the camera documentation for what port or ports are used by it.

Note: You may not be able to check if port forwarding is working correctly using a computer on your own LAN. Some routers do not support this type of loop back function. You would need a computer with an Internet connection outside of your LAN or go through a proxy server on the Internet.

I friend of mine bought himself a digital video recording system (second hand, but the original owner swears that it all worked fine) to use with 3 security cameras that are known to work, the system is a ROHS H264 system which he wants to run from his PC, now this system requires an ATI Radeon7000 or above and Nvidia Gforce serials, the graphics card that is in his system is an S3 Graphics Inc Trio 3D, which I have never heard of and sounds ancient. The software appears to install with the graphical control panel but the cameras won't work, it throws up a message saying: IDS_ display_not_supported, and another message saying: (no supported overlay), In device manager there is a yellow question mark next to multimedia controller, do you think I would be right in blaming the ancient graphics card, I'm a little out of my depth with video security systems. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

A:Security Camera Software problem

Wow I haven't encountered anyone actively using an S3 card in about 4 years. Almost forgot about them. I suppose you can try reinstalling the driver. Here's a link but support and drivers for the Trio3d ended with Win98. You are probably better off replacing the card.

Hey everyone. I have a home security camera network. It's spread around my house so the farthest I have is a WIFI camera at the back of my house which was not connecting to the WIFI router in the middle of my house and hence I had to get a WIFI repeater.

Now the issue I am facing is that I am able to access all camera's when I am within my home WIFI network but as soon as I get onto my 4g network, the one camera at the back which is connected to my home WIFI through the repeater (not directly to my WIFI router) does not connect.

A:Trying to connect to home security camera from outside

Ok so I assume you're using an app of some sort to connect to your cameras? you can also see all cameras except the one wifi camera via the 4G connection? Need a little more information; is the WIFI camera on the same subnet as the rest of your network devices? for example the IPs are all like 192.168.1.x or is the IP totally different (excluding the last octet).

Hi there I was wondering if anyone here has experience with Reolink cameras and the Reolink client. I am using the Reolink client version on a Windows Server 2012. When I open the client on the server 2 of the cameras do not show up unless I manually put them in with add device, every single time. The other 6 cameras load up as soon as I turn on the client. I have tried contacting their support but haven't received the assistance needed. The cameras are all model RLC-410 and POE. The server is connected to the internet via Ethernet. My goal is to have the other two camera's load up as soon as the client is booted up without having to manually add them each time.
Things I have tried include resetting the cameras, updating the client, changing the camera's static IP address to a different IP address, updating the camera's firmware, contacting Reolink support.
I realize this might be a stretch, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the client and found a solution. Sorry if this is the wrong section or I'm missing some information.

good evening, thank you all in advance. I'm seeking assistance in reestablishing connection to my security system in my office such as was before I guess something reset. A:Remote security camera access to LAN

Hello Freewolfe, and welcome to TSG.

You will need port forwarding enabled and properly configured on all routers and modems between your security system and the Internet. They will also probably need to be configured to support a static IP LAN address for the security system.

Unless you prefer to wait for a member with clairvoyant powers to further assist you, it would help if you told the brands, model numbers, as well as any hardware and firmware revision levels for the security system and all networking equipment involved.

Well he said to me that the IP address I was typing in is the IP Address of a security camera he and his bosses use to view from anywhere. Well once the technician from their ISP put this router in and got them online, they forgot to address the camera issue. I logged into the router and found the camera is now getting a private IP. So sure the user in the network himself can get to it just fine and view the live feed. But Not me. I tried for and hour or 2 remotely to get his Camera access to the outside world. Now this Router deal supports full NAT forwarding and what not, but I havent touched that in years. Is there an easy way to easily access this Camera remotely from anywhere? I'm new here and I'm here because I'm desperate. I bought a home security camera and I bought it solely so I could view my home when I was at work or on vacation. It was very easy to install at home to get it up and running, and was a little trickier for me to set it up as wireless (but I succeeded and was patting myself on the back). But the next step was getting access online.

After much work creating a host name to overcome the dynamic IP issue (through dynDNS) and also doing port forwarding (although I just used port 80; my ISP says they are not blocking ANY ports), I am able to control the camera from work. So I can see a Web page with controls (the same page I could access from home by simply typing in the camera's internal IP #). I'm not completely sure I understand all the connections, but I'm so pleased that I got this far. I tested the controls by turning the LED lights on and off from work and having my husband tell me that they were going on and off at home. So I KNOW I'm close.

BUT, when I click on "display," it doesn't show me the video display. I don't know what else to do?? I use a security DVR with two cameras. My DVR is a no frills economy version without a built in CD burner. It only records in RAW format. You can only export footage to a USB flash drive. I caught a kid doing vandalism to the house. But you can't quite make out her face. I made a bunch of JPEG screen captures and put these on a CD. Then the police impounded the CD long with other information. I also had the police view the moving footage which I was also able to export to and view on my PC with a proprietary HDD viewer software. I have a neighbor who seemed very confident of the girl's identity. But I fear that the police are going to come back and say there is nothing we can do because her face isn't clear enough. There has to be a way to enhance the photo quality to bring out her face. Surely the police have sophisticated software for this? Last night I downloaded this free software that manipulates pixellation, resolution., and other settings But I couldn't get anywhere with it. This is very frustrating. This is the same thing you hear from many other security camera buyers. You can't make out the subject's face. I spent over $600.00 for two cameras and the DVR. Is there some type of software that will accomplish this? This is serial vandalism. So I can't let this slip through the cracks. I uploaded the photo to an image hosting site. Just click on My linkThanks

A:Trying to enhance security camera snapshot of vandal

The quality you have is what it is. There is no magic software to add resolution. Sorry to bare bad news. Besides, I am pretty sure the cops know how to examine video. Hope it works out for you. For the future, it might be time to invest in higher resolution cameras (and infrared).

About a month ago our Cab Company's Router decided to 'reset' itself and we lost the Internet feed through Cox Cable. A call to GeekSquad managed to get the Router reset properly and everything seemed ok.

A couple days later our security camera system went offline. Oh it still works, but we can no longer monitor from the back offices over the internal network.

The way it is supposed to work is to pull up in the web broiwser (IE) and we have remote access to the recorder. That address no longer works. (I get the screen that says IE cannot display the webpage. I tried an IPScanner but could not find anything under 192.168.1.xxx that looked like the Security Recorder.

I got the IPScanner from the company that sold us our automatic dispatching software (Steve at TRANWARE) but who is NOT our resident tech guy. That was Bob, who left for another company a year or so ago - his replacement (Walter) is STILL out of country on a 3-week, I mean, 3-4-5? month vacation! Since I am trying to teach myself to pass the CompTIA A+ exam I am the closest thing to on-site support we have. (My BS CompSci is 20+ years rusty) I am not sure who set the camera up, but now I can't find it on the net.

Can anyone walk me through how to 'find' it? I can see that the recorder is running. I can verify the wire is plugged i... Read more

I have wireless security cameras on my house. Since I have installed them, I went to use my laptop yesterday and it would not connect to the wireless router, I turned it all off and then back on to reset which I have to do sometimes, no luck. I tried a bunch of different things and it would not connect. Finally I unhooked the cameras so they were not working anymore, and I got onto the Internet. I hooked them back up, and lost the signal again.

I read in the help section that you can change the signal for the wireless Internet. Below are the specs of the camera. Can someone help me change this so I can use both. It is a net-gear router.

Try changing the channel on the router. The default is frequently channel 6, try channel 1 or 11.
