How To Install Window Recovery Console For Window Vista

Q: How To Install Window Recovery Console For Window Vista

I am having an annoying problem with my IE.I'm using IE 7 and from 4 days ago, everytime I open IE or a new tab I got the annoying stuff:Insecure Internet activity. Threat of virus attackDue to insecure Internet browsing your PC can easily get infected with viruses, worms and trojans without your knowledge, and that can lead to system slowdown, freezes and crashes.Also insecure Internet activity can result in revealing your personal information.To get full advanced real-time protection for PC and Internet activity, register KvmSecure. We recommend you to protect your PC now and continue safe Internet browsing. Click here to get full advanced real-time protection and continue browsing. Continue to this website unprotected (not recommended). I strongly believe this is merely because my IE has been infected so I did some research I was lead to this webpage http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/top...tml#entry840027 which shows how to solve the problem but it requires ComboFix and I did not even know what it was so I click on a link provided on that webpage and jumped to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix . I clearly understand it. But to what I understood, the webpage instructing how to use combofix only shows how to install window recovery console with a CD. However, I'm using Vista Home Premium and I have not such a CD. Instead there's a driver on my computer called HP_RECOVERY (F:) which had been already installed on my laptop when I bought it. I'm using a HP laptop.So could someone help me to find out how to make a WINDOW RECOVERY CONSOLE?Thanks a head!

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

maynk Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I'm having problems understanding what it is you want to do ... In terms of recovery media, that is a set of DVDs and a CD, not a single DVD,  If you are interested in obtaining that, more information is provided below. In terms of a Recovery partition, if you have removed or otherwise corrupted that, the ONLY way it can be created is using the recovery media -- because that erases the entire hard drive, reformats it, and recreates the Recovery partition in the process. HP Recovery Media is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks.  You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded.You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/driversOnce there, input your Product name or number. A:recovery disc error during install window

Hi @vp333 Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. You have several options to restore to Windows 8.1: - use your own working recovery media - you can try to create it if you have the designated app (e.g. HP Recovery Manager) installed already- use HP original recovery media- use the built-in recovery media (if working fine and not corrupted)  Try to the last one first: 1. Please, shutdown the computer using/holding the power button for a few seconds2. Power it back on.2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one 3. Choose F11 for System Recovery options.The computer should boot from it's recovery partition to open you various recovery options. Note, that F11 option will only work if the recovery partition is there (not deleted) and intact. From there, you have prenty of options to choose from. Go to Troubleshoot > please, perform either "Reset this PC" option or start "HP Recovery Manager" (whatever is available for your model). Here are detailed instructions >> http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=HPSystemRecovery.net&section=ccweb&SFS=tdoc&language=english...  If this does not work, please, let me know.

Hi,Since you already had Windows 10 installed you can install it again for free. You do not need a product key and if asked during installation just click on "do not have product key". Once installed and connected to internet Win 10 will automatically activate as long as you install the same edition you had on the PC before (Pro or Home). Now download the media creation tool from Microsoft and once downloaded run as Administrator. In the Window that follows choose upgrade this PC now and follow the various Windows until installed. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 When installed Win 10 will also update all drivers. If you need further help, please let me know,David

What model laptop? The factory settings will not be available if the the drive has been reformatted or has failed. Run the Diagnostics and do a custom test of the hard drive. If there is any error, replace the hard drive.
That error means the boot files are not available or damaged.

I find it is not as fast as the XP. And I am running a Google Adwords Editor which is no vista version is available yet.

Therefore I would like to install XP into my PC and keep the Vista there.

How can I do that? Will the PC be stable if I partition the hard disk and install XP?

Do you have any experience and tips to share?

A:Getting a Window Vista Home Premium or Gateway Recovery Management Disk

Hello Kokito01, welcome to Vista Forums!

Have a look at the info below to see if it's a help; be sure to post back to keep us informed.

Here are the Gateway Recovery Instructions.

1. Reboot, and press F11 or the R key to start the recovery process.
2. Select either "Full System Restore (Destructive)" or "Full System Restore (With Backup)"*.
3. Click "Next", and then click "Yes" to confirm the recovery process.
4.Wait for the computer to restore itself. When it is done, click "Reboot" to reboot the computer.

*Full System Restore With Backup preserves data in the My Documents folder, but requires 4 GB of disk space.

It seems to me that XP's recovery console is somewhat better than the one that comes with Vista or 7, unless someone can point me in the right direction for finding further documentation on this topic.

The main difference is the lack of ability to tinker with services (LISTSVC / ENABLE / DISABLE commands). A missed opportunity is the lack of registry tweaking, considering that REGEDIT can be run, but I think it only allows you to look at the registry for the recovery console rather than the main Windows installation, which doesn't help much (though I haven't tried to import/mount the registry file from the main Windows installation).

A:XP recovery console versus Vista/7's recovery console

You can create a Window PE (Pre-installation Enviroment) disk which is a cut down version of Windows with a command line interface so that you can tinker with the OS.

Hi, im having a very basic problem with all programs i write to run in a console window. If I dont use cin.get() the window just closes. Is this normal? if it is then I have another problem/question. At what stage of the program should I put cin.get(). for example, in this program (a very basic calculator) I have to put it in two different places to get the console window to stay open. Why is this, I thought i should only have to put it in at the end and it should wait for me to press return before exiting.

#include <iostream>

using namespace std;

int main()
float num1, num2;
char op;

cout<<"Please enter calculation"<<endl;
cin.get(); //why do I need cin.get() in two places? here.....

if (op == '+') {
cout<<"the answer is"<<num1 + num2<<endl;
else if (op == '-') {
cout<<"the answer is"<<num1 - num2<<endl;
} else if (op =='*') {
cout<<"the answer is"<<num1 * num2<<endl;
} else if (op == '/') {
cout<<"the answer is "<<num1 / num2<<endl;
} else {
cout<<"You have entered an invalid statement"<<endl;

cin.get(); // and here?

A:c++ dos console window problem

Because when you run a console application from Windows, it is configured to close the console when the program has finished. The last cin.get() keeps the program from ending and thereby leaves the window open. If you open a command prompt and run the program from the command line you'll see the same result only it is manifest by the console returning to the entry prompt. You can leave the last cin.get() in place but I would suggest displaying something like "press any key to continue" so the user knows what to do at that point. You should not need the cin.get() at the top of the program at all.

I saw the thread on clean installs with a upgrade disk but I'm still confused. I want to use a update disk to install a 64bit version of windows 7 from a 32bit bit version of Vista.

1) I have no extra hard drive
2) I have a Compaq F500 (laptop) with 1 gig of memory with a AMD64 Athlon x2 processor
3) I used the checker from Microsoft to see if I can it gave me a O.K.

So, can I do a clean install with a upgrade disk and how do I. I ask now in part because I don't know if any new updates from Microsoft would prevent this.

THX in advance.

A:Clean Install of Window 7 64bit from 32bit Vista

You'll have to boot the installer to clean install a different bit-version, however the installer should still detect Vista to allow use of Upgrade version key up front during install.

If not leave the key blank then after install do the quick registry workaround used to clean install Upgrade version to a clean HD: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Does anyone know how to change/specify the console window size in VB.NET upon startup of a console application ?

Read other answers

This isn't anything really major, but it takes ~10-15 seconds for a console window to show on my computer. It used to be instant, but one day I turned on my computer, and it took forever. It's not my computer being slow, because everything else runs smoothly, and GUI apps still open instantly. It wouldn't be bad if I didn't program though. Most of the things I program are console programs, so it's a hassle waiting for it to open time and time again.

Also, it runs instantly, it just doesn't show. For example, if I open run, and run command prompt, it doesn't show for 10-15 seconds, but if I type while it's invisible, it shows up when it appears.

Anyone have any clue?

Actually, i need some suggestion about Window 10.

Currently i am using Window 7 64 BIT and Ubuntu. Both are working nice. Now I'm thinking to install one more OS (Window 10 basically). I have heard somewhere that Window 10 Trial version is available.

I don't want to loose my data of window 7.

Thank you.

A:Is it possible to install three OS window,Linux and Window 10?

Windows 10 is just a beta, an unfinished preview version only, not the release version. MS warn clearly that it's not intended for production purposes yet.

Try it in a virtual machine on either OS. Or if you know what you're doing, try allocating one more partition for it, but don't replace Win7 with it.

Hello Rembo, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since you have Windows 7 Ultimate, you could install a fully licensed XP Mode to have XP running on a Windows Virtual Machine.

About the only disadvantage is that it may run a bit slower as a virtual machine versus a normal clean install or dual boot.

Hi, I have just bought my dell notbook that come with window vista and 2 hard drivers - c and d.

I understand that I could also instal another operating system in my laptop but I am not sure how to go about it. can anyone please guide me to the installation of the second operation system in my notebook.

I understand that i need to download a driver but what driver and where to download.

thanks a million for the help.

A:Installing Window Xp On Window Vista

Well, first we'll need to know the size of the C: and the D: drives, their names (such as Recovery or Restore) and how full they are.
Next, you'll need to ensure that you've got the DVD's necessary to reinstall Vista should you ever decide to go back to it (this'll save you a boatload of money).
Then, you'll need to have a copy of XP - you'll need a full, retail version to be fully able to install this (unless you've got an old copy of Win98, ME, or 2000 laying around to use with an upgrade. You'll also need copies of all the programs that you want to install.
You can get the drivers for your system at the Dell support site by entering your service tag number - but I don't know if that'll show XP drivers or not - maybe you can ask Dell support (via email) where the XP drivers are for your syste..

Then it's just a matter of inserting the XP disk, formatting your hard drive, and then starting the clean installation of XP. After that you'll spend a lot of time updating drivers and Windows Updates, then installing and updating your programs. Don't forget a good antivirus, antispyware, and firewall program (at a minimum) for your protection while online.

I had a task (a php script) running periodically on Windows Vista to change my network routes automatically (because OSPF support have been dropped by MS) and it was working fine...

Now I am trying to run the very same script on a Windows 7 system... It runs fine, but on every run it opens a 'console' window to show the script output... This behavior didn't happen on Vista...

I've tried to make a shortcut of php.exe and make it run minimized, altering the task to run the shortcut instead of the executable... Didn't work...

I don't see anywhere a place to suppress this output window... Can this be done?

Thanks in advance.

If you know how to edit the script, go into it and, if needed, put in something that stops the output. I don't know how to do it, but I imagine that there is a way.

When converting ripped wav files to .mp3, EAC has the option of displaying a user-chosen external compressor window, in this case, lame.exe. Halfway through compressing a wav file, the Windows Console Host will crash and display an error message. If I click the "X" in the corner of the popup, the popup and compressor window will vanish and the compressor will resume work... until the next ripped wav file. Setting EAC to not display the compressor window does not crash the Console Window Host. I also have no crashes when using any other command window, most notably [email protected]

I've run sfc /scannow, full Avira, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware scans, and they're all clean. Event Viewer has an Error message, saying Event ID of 1000:

A:Console Window Host crash in lame.exe/Exact Audio Copy

I have a recording studio. However, for ripping CD's I use the free Audiograbber (and have Lame installed). It will rip to wav or MP3, and even Karoke CD-G's.

I've ripped marginal (scratched, etc) discs with Audiograbber (something exact audio copy says it will do).

This does not solve the problem with the program you are using, but an option. Audiograbber, free CD ripper, mp3 encoder and audio recorder for Windows

One other thing to consider, since you have a 32 bit OS, what other programs do you have open when you are running the exact audio copy? Too many applications open or running and it may be a (lack of) memory problem.

What are the extra added features added in window 7 as compared to window vista

A:Window Vista vs Window 7

My observation is that what is not in Win 7 that was in Vista is the greatest positive. More stable, less bothersom ( do you want to do what you just said you wanted to do . . do you really, really want to do it ) much lighter on resources, more nimble.

A comparison of XP to ME comes immediately to mind.

I have an HP PC which came with a preinstalled version of XP Home. Needless to say the purchase of this PC did not include the original XP Home CD. HP uses a lousey recovery partition. Later, through Microsoft's automatic update, my system was updated to SP2.
This update I understand is not reflected in the preinstalled i386 folder which is on my C: drive.

Just for the heck of it, I dedcided to try to install the Recovery Console using C drive as the location of i386 installation files.

I typed in "Run" c:\i386\winnt32.exe/cmdcons, clicked OK, and got the error message "Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD" which was no surprise to me.

My daughter recently updated from Windows ME to Windows XP Home which already included SP2 in the CD.

What I would like to know is can I use my daughter's XP Home CD with XP2 included to install the Recovery Console onto my PC or would such a venture cause conflicts with Windows keys etc.

I do have the free SP2 CD from Microsoft. Would it be better to slipstream the contents of this CD into the preinstalled i386 files already on my C: drive and then try to install the Recovery Console?

After fuddling with my computer's system files, I discovered that I was unable to start Explorer.exe in Windows because shell32.dll was accidentally renamed shell32.old. With not a single system restore point, I attempted to use the cmd recovery console on the Vista install DVD to fix it. Being not a very experienced user, I thought I'd change the directory to the system32 folder first, since it is originally at "X:\Sources". However, whenever I typed in "cd c:\windows\system32" and pressed Enter, nothing would happen and the next line would still start with "X:\Sources".

So my question is, how can I get into system32 so I can name the file back to its original name using "ren"? I can't do anything while being stuck at "X:\Sources" or whatever... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is HP DV9000 laptop. CD/DVD device is not recognize. I have surfed the Internet and looks like this is a common problem for that model. So, what's happened. Somebody cleans or formatted disk recovery partition D. So I couldn't restore Windows Vista with all drivers by F11 key. I got recovery partition from another DV9000 and replaced. Than I fixed mbr, but computer still not respond for F11.

Is there any way to "connect" F11 with recovery partition? Another common problem is with audio drivers, that's why I would like restore factory HP drivers/software. I spent hours to match audio drivers from HP website with no results.

How about external CD/DVD drive and order on HP website recovery disk with all drivers ?

I installed Windows XP SP3 before discovering this forum. In reading the steps for troubleshooting malware infections, I noticed that one such step is installing the Windows XP Recovery Console.

Fortunately I have the Windows XP installation CD that came with my system. Unfortunately, it's an SP2 CD. So when I try to install the Recovery Console, it complains that I have a newer version of Windows than the one on the CD.

Microsoft gives fairly detailed instructions for how to install Recovery Console if you have an SP1 (or SP0) CD and are running on SP2. However, I'm paranoid enough to believe that those instructions do not necessarily scale to SP3.

So can someone tell me how I can install Recovery Console on my SP3 machine if I have an SP2 CD?

A:How can I install Recovery Console after installing SP3?

when you try to install recovery console, ie "d:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons" (where d: is the cd drive) are you connected to the net ?, i think the install checks for updates @ microsoft and should continue if it can connect.
